Alcoholic consumption entertainment at taxpayer’s expenses

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Finance Minister Jim Flaherty joined   brewery manager Colin O’Brien, and supply director Paul Armstrong at the Guinness brew house. http://www.canada.com/Stephen+Harper+Irish+adventures/8532787/story.html

harper_guiness

Our Canadian Christian evangelical Prime Minister Stephen Harper makes an essential stop at the Irish Guinness brewery, he sure has fooled all those fundamental western Christians who voted from him cause they had been lied to that he was an Christian evangelical abstainer    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/canada-pm-arrives-in-dublin-ahead-of-g8-summit-1.1430527

.

For all the fundamental evangelical Christians who say that PM Stephen Harper DOES NOT DRINK ALCOHOL.. HERE IS THE REALITY “VANCOUVER, B.C. – It seems U.S. President Barack Obama owes Prime Minister Stephen Harper a few cold ones. The two leaders had a friendly bet on the outcome of Sunday’s gold-medal Olympic hockey game.   Team Canada came out on top, so Obama will have to pick up a 24-pack of Molson Canadian for the prime minister. Harper would have had to buy Obama a case of Yuengling beer if the U.S. had taken the top honour at the tournament. Team USA beat Team Canada in the first match-up between the two countries in the preliminary rounds, but Canada came out on top in a heart-stopping overtime round on Sunday. Harper was at the game in Vancouver but Obama did not make an appearance at the Olympics. The prime minister met with the gold medal winners in the locker room after the game to congratulate them. ”

.
I ALSO REMEMBER WHEN THE LYING US PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OBAMA SUPPORTER HAD SAID THAT CHRISTIAN OBAMA DOES NOT DRINK ALCOHOL..

.

And how much major hurt and damage does alcohol drinking still cause in Canada? and how much money does it costs the taxpayers now too? Much too much too. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/01/02/alcohol/

The Police in Canada also should Maintain efforts on drunk driving,   paying close attention to detect and charge drunk drivers,  all year and not just during the holidays

 .
Quebec bill to lower blood-alcohol level. The new law would permit zero alcohol for drivers younger than 21 and introduces a new sanction for anyone caught between 0.05 and the current legal limit  Under the proposed legislation introduced last December, police could suspend the licence of drivers with a blood-alcohol level between 0.05 and 0.08 for a 24-hour period.
.

It seems that 70 percent of the adults drink alcohol in Canada too but 100  percent of them claim to be non alcoholics? civil and public servants included, and where do all of the many drunk  drivers, alcoholics  come from now too? For the civil and public servants all you have to do is look at their expenses accounts, see how much they charged us for booze and that will quickly show us all whether they really are alcoholics or not for a start.  Few alcoholics will admit they are alcoholics just as few persons will admit they practice tax evasion as well. Drunk drivers still cause most of the car accidents but the police prefer to go after speeding tickets, it is easier to to get the speeders.. and very profitable, sadly it also ties up our courts with the mostly unnecessary cases too. If you drink 2 martinis at lunch time or supper time  for a start  you are definitely an alcoholic.. andf if you are an alcoholic you should be fired from your job as well.
.

Drinking alcohol cause permanent brain damage, it also causes a significant deterioration of one’s mental capabilities, deterioration of one’s inter personal relationship skills, it also causes more car accidents than speeding or not having adequate winter tires, it also reduces significantly one’s work productivity as well undeniably too.  So  tell us all now:
– How much money did the Prime Minister, the Premiers themselves now spend on Alcoholic consumption entertainment last year,
– How Much money did the federal, provincial cabinet ministers now spend on Alcoholic consumption entertainment last year
– How much money did the civil and public servants now spend on Alcoholic consumption entertainment last year
I trust you all can readily supply us all with the answers
.

Fundamental evangelical pastors preach it is a sin for any Christian to drink alcohol, Liberal Christians such as Catholics or Eastern Orthodox church say it is not. But one thing no one can deny is how harmful drinking alcohol is.. in Russia 60 percent of men and women die due to drinking alcohol..

.

I was also very sad to note as to how many evangelical, Christian  pastors, politicians still do falsely approve of drinking alcohol even though their real Christian colleagues preach against it..

.

I still would rightfully rather see pastor first live a sermon instead of too often now merely preach it to others and I really do think it is so farcical how some sinfully, proud evangelical pastors are ready to condemn others, to gossip about, to now preach about the other person’s  sins but someone how they can’t seem to deal with their own false abuse of others, their own sins, and their own false pride. Sadly I have often been in bad Christian churches where the clearly crooked pastor to turn off attention off himself would bash some other churches, some other denominations and some other persons, but all that bashing of his now did not still deny his own sins and his own wrong doings though now. The Bad preacher are not the only ones who can preach about other people’s sins and demand others to repent, so can I, bad pastors now included and I rightfuly  do often as well.

.

(Gal 6:1 KJV)  Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2  Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3  For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceived himself. 4  But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5  For every man shall bear his own burden.
.

Now as I was reflecting about my many past posts on the net  in the last few years I was really saddened to note that too many of them were about bad , greedy people trying to steal , trying to get other people’s money for themselves, stealing the money, or getting  it under false pretences. The love of more money is still the basis of what many of the wrong doings is, was all about..(Eccl 8:11 KJV)  Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
 .
I have often also met in evangelical circles the despotic foremen,  dictatorial types, bully, jungle fighter   leaders, the same persons who think they are supreme over all others, they can take the law into their own hands, and even do what they want over any others, physically now as well. I have not totally now understood how these unacceptable, abusive slave drivers got to this personality stage or why they falsely think in their abusive pride they will get away with it forever now as well. Ironically the wolves in sheep clothing exist Canada wide, even in evangelical churches, political circles too now, and I guess for me telling the truth that is why so many of them hate me, do not hesitate to ban me or kick me out of their often also  bad churches now too..
 .
I had attended a recent comical church service,  New Beginnings Ministry 9412 Rue Clement Lasalle, QC H8R1T5 Phone: (514) 363-1080., a farcical circus, not the first time now too,  where Stéphane Chauvette Associate Pastor was preaching about everything, bashing everyone else, but somehow he could not keep his own promises, his  own word, or stay on a specific valid subject. And he made it clear if you  rock his boat he will next also kick you off the ship..  The  hypocritical, pretentious fundamental right winged evangelical pastor of this New Life Beginnings in LaSalle, Quebec  Preaches next openly  now  for us not to believe any of the news media and for us not to  have anything to do with any person who drinks wine, and to stand up against all of the people who do any wrong, to even openly speak to them, ( as long as it is not the pastor himself  for sure) and yet he lied and says come and talk to me your pastor after church. I am always really interested to hear from you about all of your concerns but  in reality when you do try to talk to him.. for next  I thus told him that our PM stephen Harper the supposedly good Christian now drinks beer/wine.. Tom Flanagan, a political scientist at the University of Calgary and Harper’s former campaign director and chief of staff said that Prime Minister Stephen Harper was his regularly beer drinking buddy. Others confirmed that Harper drinks wine and Beer such as even George Bush..   well  next the pastor really got upset at me..  since he himself cannot handle negative truths, he the ostrich no good pastor refused to further talk with me  and said  he was tired now, he  refuses to hear any of that, he refuses to believe any of that, for that is all gossip,  slanders, and also we do not allow anyone who causes disturbance, problems, gives any criticism in our church, so please leave now. So much for this supposedly Christ like church and their false professing Christian love, false brotherly love, their supposed openness now, and one’s free speech too..
 .
Freedom of speech to many of these despotic, self centered, agenda oriented  preacher  is generally one way, they alone are allowed to do all of the talking, and no one else, everyone else is only allowed to listen is also what I have directly experienced here too. If you challenge what they say they falsely do immediately divorce you, even physically assault you and kick you out of the church now too.  The same pastor says he does not believe anything the news media writes at all. So who does he believe? only himself it seems and anyone else like minded. So what truth is he really now peddling, a distorted ones clearly. For the record, Stephen Harper Prime Minister of Canada himself now did  not even deny to me that he drinks beers and/or alcohol, or that he even gives presents of alcohol to others as well. So why do any of the others? Why did this pastor? They can only face the negative reality from a distance… Not  the first time I do now meet such fundamental ostriches.. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/01/23/alcoholic/
.
One of the things I have found also so confounding is how many preachers can be filled with both truths and lies, falsehood, errors and how come? Why is that?   I was passing through the city of Chicago on the way to Winnipeg and I had decided to stop in a Pentecostal church, that I had read about in Christians magazines, books now too, this Church had regular Sunday services casting out demons out of Christians too. I was dismayed to  hear the preacher at a Sunday morning service also preach that the Russians had an army of tanks on the US border in Canada ready too invade the US, and most people there had next accepted this as the truth. Funny or sad  how so many people seem to be ready to believe gross lies over the truth, reality  from their leaders now even  in churches as well. For certainty I next saw no Russians tanks at the Canadian border when I drove on to Calgary Alberta as well.
  .

(Gal 3:26 KJV)  For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
 .
(Job 13:4 KJV)  But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
 .
(1 Cor 14:29 KJV)  Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
 .
(1 Cor 14:31 KJV)  For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
.

Please do have the local LaSalle police remind the pastors, elders, members, adherents of this Pentecostal church that is is still illegal for the pastor or anyone else now there too to physically assault anyone, even if it is in their church. They may have a right to ask anyone to leave their premises, but as I have witnessed myself now they do not have a right to physically grab, lay hands, assault any person in their church even now too especially when he did nothing wrong.. That right is only for the police and is limited for them as well.. If someone next after being asked refuses to leave the church when asked they can call the police. I told them that I was glad to leave this church on my own free will and will be just as glad not to come back too.

.

Honor Killings, Violence. In reality too the Cops themselves, RCMP included, now   are not the only one who resort to violence when their authority is threatened, so do some clearly bad, hot tempered evangelical  pastors now too..  I too before have already experienced in Canada  a  direct physical assault of me by  a rogue Pentecostal pastor who had punched me, physically assaulted me, with no provocation too,, in front of a witness, backed up with a police report , cause I had refused to go to his church. An another Pentecostal pastor and even a church elder,  were  attempting to physically abuse me to stop my public revelations of his unacceptable acts, thefts of money too. and the same thing had happened to my own brother on another occasion and he too had called the police and reported the matter who also had experience physical assault attempt  by a Plymouth Brethren pastor. But none of this should be a surprise when a pastor’s authority, financial security is threatened ehh..
.
“Opposition parties are threatening to vote down this week’s much-anticipated Conservative budget because it contains a potentially contentious proposal to permanently slash taxes for middle-class Canadians. While the Conservatives say the tax cuts will help working families during a challenging economic era, the Liberals say the rollback is ill-advised and will do little to stimulate the economy. “If the permanent tax cuts were very large, we would be very concerned, partly because it would saddle future generations with a big debt and a permanent deficit,” Liberal finance critic John McCallum told CTV’s Question Period Sunday. McCallum added that the tax reductions will be an ineffectual stimulus because people are more likely to save extra money during recessionary periods. And if the Tory budget fails to deliver what’s best for Canada, McCallum said the Liberals will have little option than to vote it down. ” Harper’s budget seems to be more of his political buying toys over rally kick starting the economy. Something he Harper had promised he would not do as well. Canadians should be skeptical of any new spending announcements by Harper’s administration. The moves are an attempt to cement public support for Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s minority government .  “Their track record when it comes to putting shovels in the ground is the worst of any recent government at any level in terms of actually getting things built and money spent,” ,  Liberal MP Gerard Kennedy also lamented that Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative government has spent only 20 percent of previously announced infrastructure funding.
.

When it suits him only PM Stephen Harper is willing to leak information to the citizens, news media.. Stephen Harper was elected based on his past promises of a new and better form of governing, openness, transparency and accountability.. none of these promises were kept next as well. Canada’s Conservative government’s own cult of secrecy. It now under Stephen Harper is Harder than ever to get information from the federal government  Harper clearly himself has penchant for secrecy. “Not since the advent of the Access to Information Act (ATIA) in 1983, has it been so difficult to get timely information from the Canadian government.  Delays routinely extend seven months past the 30-day requirement to release records; complaints can take over two years for a response. A two-year backlog of complaints to the commissioner “permits several federal institutions to enjoy a two-year amnesty (extension) to release records..  and the long delays in responding “encourages many institutions to claim a range of exemptions, exclusions or exaggerated fees which would not otherwise be permitted under the act, knowing . . . it will take the commissioner no less than two years to adjudicate the complaint.”   In 2007-2008, of 29,000 Freedom of Information requests received, 1,381 investigations were completed, leaving 2,387 to be carried over. The lesson ..”that the mere existence of an access statute does not, in itself, guarantee access to information.”  The Harper government has increased “exclusions, exceptions and prohibitions” in disclosing information, thus “government institutions are still operating under a cult of secrecy.”

 .
Harper’s turnarounds include:

The Senate. He was adamant he would not resort to the old politics of stacking the upper chamber with party cronies. But faced with the possible defeat of his minority government, Harper moved fast before Christmas to fill 18 vacancies with loyal Conservatives, many failed candidates or with party ties.• Fixed election date. In May 2006, Harper proposed fixed election date legislation that would set the next election date in October 2009, to stop political leaders from “trying to manipulate the calendar.”
 .
Instead, Harper called an election last September, saying that Parliament had reached an “impasse.” But he was also hoping to capitalize on his own promising poll numbers and a weak official Opposition before the economy worsened.
 .
Now if he  PM Stephen Harper now was  was so smart in the first place then  how come he could not even see the recession coming? or the coalition threat? Conservative Governments also tend to never spend wisely in the first place. Can they even be trusted firstly to next even keep their promises? So now can we even really trust the PM Stephen Harper and his Conservative government for sure next even when their budget  motivation is done in panic — due to Harper’s   near-death political experience forced on him by the opposition. Harper originally came into government promising to make it smaller and more efficient and is clearly willing to sell all of his principles to stay in power at all costs. Foolishly Merely Giving away money, or going into a large deficit,  themselves are  not a sure way to revive the economy.

AND WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THEM?

Now we have revelaltion in Sept 2009 of alcohol abuse in Ontario too

And why did it take so long to investigate and take action when this was brought out before in the past?

The “culture of entitlement” at the lottery corporation appears to be a deep-rooted problem that will not be solved by the new procedures put in place by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, said Kevin Gaudet, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

Under the new Ontario Government rules revealed this month , employees with unacceptable expense claims such as alcohol for staff functions and personal items must repay the taxpayers. McGuinty’s move follows the revelations employees at Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp expensed items such as a $3,713.77 dinner for 38 people that included more than 10 bottles of wine and other alcohol. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.’s 10 highest-paid employees expensed at least $2,533 on alcohol between January, 2007, and December, 2008. A sales and marketing meeting at the Keg resulted in a $260 liquor tab; 38 people at a pre- Sound of Music business dinner drank $885 worth of alcoholic beverages. Any hospitality event at which alcohol was served would have to receive prior approval. The same provincial public-service rules also require written approval before all out-of-province travel, rarely evident in the documents the province made public this week. It all now still reveals a culture of acceptability that is inappropriate in a recession and in any Crown environment. The past provincial directive, which has been in place since 2004, states that “reimbursement of meal costs must not include the reimbursement for any alcoholic beverages.” The Ontario Liberals have also ordered a review of the 600 provincial agencies, boards and commissions to root out spending abuses. New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath said the added layer of scrutiny doesn’t assuage concerns about widespread illicit spending among government agencies. NOW WHAT ABOUT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT?

I am also now outraged over Conservatives travel expenses. “We should be outraged over travel expenses.. Toronto Star published a story on Nov. 22 detailing what appeared to be exorbitant travel expenses for federal government cabinet ministers and some public servants. Firstly Considering the state of the economy at this time and the fact the federal government will be returning to deficit financing, it should not only be encouraging federal travellers to fly economy class but insist on it.  The Star said its investigation found spending by ministers, political staff and bureaucrats to be far from the frugal image of the Harper government. “Some federal travellers can’t seem to get to London, England, for less than $6,000, even though economy seats were available for $1,000 to $2,000,” the Star said. “In our analysis of 60,000 travel records over four years, we found $18,000 flights to Australia, $7,000 flights to Paris, $11,000 flights to Indonesia and $8,000 flights to Switzerland.  The Alberta environment minister and an aide spent $3,200 each to fly to Bali for a United Nations conference on climate change. Former federal environment minister John Baird spent $10,920 for a flight to the same conference. Add in three political aides and two bureaucrats at similar rates and the total airfare cost to the Canadian taxpayer was $61,000.  The Star said it found that Harper’s ministers often travel with a large entourage at high cost.   The Star said it found that while both had been big spenders, “most Conservative ministers spent slightly more than the Liberals they once accused of being lavish spenders.”  However, Tony Clement wasn’t one of them. The then-Conservative health minister travelled economy to Kenya and Tanzania to visit health clinics and deliver a $150,000 government cheque. However, the whole trip wasn’t done on the cheap. For some unexplained reason Clement allowed two aides to sit up front in executive class at $11,000 a pop, bringing the total cost to $30,000 to deliver a $150,000 aid cheque.”  http://www.saultstar.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1402617 .

The federal government should take immediate action to control interest rates and fees on consumer credit cards because those climbing costs are choking consumers and businesses amid the deepening recession, says Senator Pierrette Ringuette. Ringuette, a Liberal from New Brunswick, argues the upcoming federal budget is a golden opportunity for Conservative Finance Minister Jim Flaherty to tackle the controversial issue of regulation.  Caps on interest and other fees are firmly on the political agenda in other countries. But with no clear sign that such measures are in the works here, Ringuette is urging members of the upper chamber to champion the cause. As Flaherty unveils his budget in the lower house on Tuesday, Ringuette will lay the groundwork to revive a motion for the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce to probe Canada’s credit card and debit card systems. In addition to scrutinizing consumer rates, she wants to examine other behind-the-scenes charges including interchange and merchant discount rates. “Canadians must be boiling mad right now because nobody is paying attention to the consumer,” Ringuette said. She questions how the economy can rebound if consumers and businesses must absorb higher costs on “Canadians must be boiling mad right now because nobody is paying attention to the consumer,” Ringuette said. She questions how the economy can rebound if consumers and businesses must absorb higher costs on credit cards at a time when many are struggling to stay afloat.  Other countries, meanwhile, have bolstered regulations. In December, American regulators announced sweeping changes, including a new rule to protect consumers from interest-rate increases on existing account balances. Taking effect in 2010, that change means credit card companies can only raise interest rates on new cards, future purchases and advances.  http://www.thestar.com/business/article/576545

Tom Flanagan, a former Harper campaign organizer and strategist, said Harper has transformed from a conservative ideologue to a political survivor, but remains a victim of his own dark side. “Both sides are real … but what you see more and more is the political Harper,” said Flanagan, author of the acclaimed Harper’s Team: Behind the Scenes in the Conservative Rise to Power.

Tom Flanagan, a political scientist at the University of Calgary and Harper’s former campaign director and chief of staff said that the Conservative  strategists before the 2006 federal election. Conservatives wanted to attract Roman Catholics, visible minorities and married women with children.  By cutting taxes, particularly the GST, Harper has simply starved the centre-left of the fiscal room for new, big-ticket social programs he also said.. Gerry Nicholls of the conservative online portal Libertas Post says Harper caters to “populist conservative” values such the family, the military and criminal justice – but avoids the issues of individual freedom, smaller government and balanced books.

Flanagan said the “Machiavellian” side is far more troubling than his political transformation, given that it almost cost him his government. “He lost the initiative by provoking the other parties into this potential coalition against him … and now he finds himself having to put together a budget which is really a coalition budget … the government’s hand is fairly weak right now.”” Toronto Star

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has made tax cuts a top priority since he was first elected as the leader of the Conservative party but has he rather made things worse now?

Harper also accused of ditching principles to keep power. The same person  who revered his conservative ideology is clearly now he’s sacrificing it for political expediency. From the Senate to fixed-date elections , government appointments, defecits,  Prime Minister Stephen Harper has sent  his political principles into the waste bin.  “”We will not be running a deficit. We will keep our spending within our means. It is that simple. The alternative is not a plan. It is just the consequence of complete panic, and this government will not panic at a time of uncertainty,” Harper told a Toronto audience on Oct. 7. Times change quickly and, with them, the politicians who rule .”Absolutely he has abandoned his principles … I don’t even recognize this person who is the Prime Minister of Canada,” said Gerry Nicholls, who worked with Harper at the National Citizens Coalition. Harper is a one-time head of the coalition, a non-partisan organization for the “defence and promotion of free enterprise, free speech” and accountable government. “He was a principled small-c conservative who believed that … conservative politicians should stick by their principles,” Nicholls said. “I think he began to care more about public-opinion polls than his principles.”

Prime Minister Stephen Harper also has broken with traditional budget secrecy, revealing nearly $6-billion in spending plans over the past three days…     This from a prime minister who just months ago vowed there would be no deficit. The Tories are planning to run deficits totalling $64-billion over the next two fiscal years, including $34-billion in the first year and $30-billion in the second. Other spending announced in recent days:
$1.5-billion in funding to boost training for laid-off workers including even those who are ineligible for Employment Insurance
$500-million in targeted support for older workers
$1-billion in funding for renovating social housing
$600-million for on-reserve aboriginal housing
$400-million for seniors’ housing
$75-million for housing for people with disabilities
$1-billion community adjustment fund for single-industry and resource towns hardest hit by this economic crisis (forestry, mining and agriculture communities). This national fund would have flexible criteria for applicants in order to help their communities adjust to the changing economic climate
$160-million for new investments in arts and culture
$150-million in forestry industry aid, including more than $100-million to develop new uses for forest products and $50-million to help promote the industry abroad as environmentally responsible
$550-million for farmers, including half a billion to help adjust to tough times and $50-million to expand slaughterhouse capacity
I have often heard it said that most Canadians Canada wide now are still like fearful sheep they are too ready to be fleeced, sadly it also seems they must have ostrich genes in them for when you present negative truths they tend to often rather bury their heads in the sand as well it  seems.. especially in in too many of the evangelical churches.. or  the ostrich sheep in Alberta who also now too often seem to think no Conservative politician can ever do any wrong rather it has to be the other bad guys, you know the liberals. Or the BQ separatists, the communist NDP… Ironically the wolves in sheep clothing exist Canada wide, in evangelical churches, political circles too now, and I guess for me telling the truth that is why so many of them hate me, do not hesitate to ban me or kick me out of their often also  bad churches now too.. http://postedat.wordpress.com/2009/08/31/get-real-now/

Gal 5:19 KJV)  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20   Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21   Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  (Col 3:5 KJV)  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6   For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

(1 Cor 5:11 KJV)  But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12   For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13   But them that are without God judgeth. ** The Pastor had said that God does not let us to talk to anyone who drinks wine, but this is a rather distorted, extreme interpretation of the Bible, The Bible clearly says WE ARE NOT TO FELLOWSHIP WITH A CHRISTIAN PERSONS WHO GETS DRUNK.. now that is really different from not talking to any of the people who drink wine.. and why is this pastor so ready not to talk with others now too? so ready to smite them, to kick them out of church? If you have love for someone you are willing to talk with them, but if you do not have love for them, especially if, when you know they do not support you, do not agree with your presentation, do not agree  with your point of view, you as a pastor too no can personally can instead  refuse to love them, you refuse to talk to them, you find any excuse to reject, ostracize, divorce them basically to deny, to cover up the unacceptable reality that you yourself the pastor actually do not have any love for them.

• Supreme Court appointments. In December, Harper appointed Thomas Cromwell of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court, bypassing a parliamentary hearing process he championed to more openly scrutinize nominees.

• Government appointments. The Prime Minister had promised to implement a public appointments commission to eliminate cronyism in such appointments. It was to be part of the government’s much-vaunted Accountability Act. It never happened and, since winning its first minority government in January 2006, the Tory government has made some 1,500 appointments, many based on political pedigree.

Michael Ignatieff.  M.P  Leader of the Opposition Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada clearly should give more attention on dealing with elderly abuses over grandstanding with abortion.. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/federal-bucks-discrimnatory-support-for-seniors/

Only the US cops drive drunk now?

An off-duty cop slammed his car into the front of Tiffany’s flagship Fifth Avenue store at 3 a.m.  in a crash that investigators suspect may have been alcohol related, police sources said.  The car – with the officer behind the wheel – plowed into a garbage truck at the corner of 57th St. and Fifth Ave. before careening onto the sidewalk at 3 a.m.,   The impact was strong enough that the three occupants had to be cut out of the vehicle. All were hospitalized. DWI charges are likely. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/cop_crashes_into_tiffany_booze_suspected_7GIcYrovjcWQis8PAaDtsK

.
While there is no way of knowing exactly the real number of drunk drivers on the road every day — police can’t be catching them  at all times, if they are certainly not trying too but instead are wrongfully spending their time and energy on revenue generating speeding tickets. Yes impaired driving is everyone’s business and  all citizens who see erratic, unsafe and suspected impaired driving need to call police on the 911 line. Police can’t be everywhere at all times, but they should respond  fast and effectively when alerted. And simply lower the allowed blood alcohol limit to the chosen point at which drivers are deemed no longer any danger and showing no tolerance for drunk drivers

Not only are so many of our civil and public servants bad examples, even alcoholics now too, but the Governments, Police are too soft on alcoholics too. 6 times more persons are killed by drunk driving over speeding at least. Many drunk drivers are only prosecuted by the police npw still only mainly two months of the year, December, January and those who drunls who have lost their license to drive a car next the majority of them keep driving without a license next anyway.
.

Provincial governments in Canada are making record breaking profits by encouraging the citizens to consume even more  alcohol, beer and are making even  more even by the  taxation of these products. They should not be  encouraging the citizens to do so.

Following the past Liberal Government’s trend, the Canadian Federal Conservative Government, Stephen Harper PM, November economic update was again projecting surpluses for the next few years. Suddenly immediately next rather we’re facing multi-year, massive deficits. How did we get to that point? Tax relief, economic stimulus and  measures to stabilize the financial markets are the supposed  hallmarks of next week’s Federal government’s budget that will drive Canada into deep but short-term deficit, under the Conservative  Finance Minister Jim Flaherty.

“Interim Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff is right to oppose across-the-board tax cuts. At a time when Canadians are leveraged to excess, they are not likely to go out and spend the added income on capital goods or even added consumption goods. More likely, the money will go to pay down debt, which is good for the individual, but does little for the economy in the short run. With a huge deficit planned, the money should be used on targeted areas in infrastructure projects, roads, bridges and urban transit – capital projects that will have benefits for a long time to come. With the demand destruction we are going to have in our economy, cutting taxes and even reducing interest rates, is like pushing on a rope – a wrong approach to the current situation.

Stephen Harper is a monetarist of the Friedman/Chicago school, and while monetary policy has its place, in particular where inflation is a problem, lowering interest rates when they are already close to zero will have little effect, at least in the short run. Cutting taxes for people who face job losses is also rather moot, and the recent U.S. experience with a general tax cut was rather dismal.

Of course, tax cuts are popular, especially for the selfish and short-sighted, and will likely play well in an election campaign. Could it be that Mr. Harper is, again, planning a political stand-off in the parliamentary OK Corral, in order to face off with Ignatieff in an election and dangle the carrot of tax cuts for the voters?  Sigmund Roseth, Mississauga”

PS: NDP Leader Jack Layton says it was “absolutely inappropriate” for Prime Minister Stephen Harper to allow details to be released on the federal budget deficit. Layton says it’s a move that seems to suggest Harper is trying to build a political case because he’s worried about losing his job. The NDP has already stated it won’t support Tuesday’s budget. A senior government official said Thursday the Harper government will run deficits totalling $64 billion over the next two years – $34 billion this year, and $30 billion next year. Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, who was also speaking in Toronto, accused Harper of playing political games when it comes to the budget. Ignatieff says the information leak was “irresponsible and costly to our economy.”

“Mandate for listeriosis investigation: insufficient OTTAWA – The mandate given to former Edmonton Health Authority President Sheila Weatherill as investigator of last year’s listeriosis outbreak is insufficient to provide transparency to Canadians, Liberal Agriculture Critic Wayne Easter and Health Critic Dr. Carolyn Bennett said today.“Canadians deserve the truth,” said Mr. Easter. “We have no doubt that Ms. Weatherill will do what she can given her mandate, but the fact is, this Conservative government has not been transparent with Canadians with regards to this tragedy. Ms. Weatherill’s resources and powers are too limited to reveal what actually happened. ” Dr. Bennett said the only way Canadians can know the full truth of how the crisis came about is to have a full judicial inquiry with the power to compel witnesses to testify and evidence to be produced.  “But, as we know, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has refused repeated calls for this,” said Dr. Bennett. “It is only through a full judicial inquiry that all of the facts will be known – and only then can the families of the victims move forward and Canadians can be assured it won’t happen again.” Mr. Easter agreed that only a judicial inquiry would fully expose the information needed to truly address any shortcomings in Canada’s food safety system.  “This is not about assigning blame,” he pointed out. “It is about giving Canadians certainty that their food is safe. The Conservative government and the Prime Minister owe that much to Canadians, but this investigation falls far too short of that obligation.””   http://www.liberal.ca/story_15587_e.aspx

” the fact that there is increased speculation about the Prime Minister’s job reflects growing concern in Conservative ranks that the party has to start planning for succession. The combination of a credible alternative, in the form of new Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, and a support-sapping recession has already hit the Prime Minister’s approval ratings. The suspicion is that this is only a distant early warning of ever-worsening poll numbers. Mr. Harper retains strong support in caucus. Many Conservatives recognize that they are taken seriously only because they have the letters “MP” after their name, a happy circumstance for which thanks must go to the Prime Minister. But, unlike former Conservative leader Brian Mulroney, Mr. Harper has failed to establish a personal rapport with many caucus members. Their loyalty would be strained to a breaking point if Conservative support dropped into the 20s range– thus jeopardizing their cushy sinecures. Many Tories found themselves questioning their political faith during the general election and found it tested further by the Fall Fiscal Update. “The ace the Prime Minister always had was that he was the master tactician. But our guy doesn’t have the ace anymore,” said one self-professed Harper supporter. “Ministers now whisper under their breath that they think we will lose the next election.” In this circumstance, it is not surprising that the volume of chatter about a potential successor has risen. But it’s also true that if the Prime Minister is discredited by his handling of the economic crisis, his Cabinet is tarnished too.  The same applies to other potential front-bench candidates such as Immigration Minister Jason Kenney, who may emerge as the strongest candidate from the old Reform Party; James Moore, the young Heritage Minister who despite being a former Reform MP is most often viewed as a Red Tory; and, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, who is said to be more likely to encourage his wife Christine Elliott, an Ontario MPP, to take a run at a senior job at Queen’s Park. Some Conservatives believe that a saviour will emerge from the East, in the form of Jean Charest, the Quebec Premier, or Bernard Lord, the former premier of New Brunswick. What is clear is that Mr. Harper’s authority has been dented so severely that the race to succeed him is on and cannot be cancelled by PMO decree. On the upside, the Prime Minister shouldn’t have any trouble empathizing with Canadians worried about losing their jobs in the coming months. ”  http://www.nationalpost.com/opinion/columnists/story.html?id=9b2a4084-084d-4e62-98e2-0d4e73cc25ce  But all that won’t stop the fools from trying to  take bad Harper’s place.

Follow Obama’s lead on transparency, PM told Saying ‘the fog is thickening’ in Canada, Information Commissioner pounces on U.S. President’s decision to have more official documents released to the public  Globe and Mail  January 21, 2009 at 5:32 PM EST  OTTAWA — The Harper government should follow U.S. President Barack Obama’s lead in shunning secrecy and releasing more official documents to the public, Canada’s Information Commissioner says. In his first full day in office, Mr. Obama ordered the American government to release more documents under its Freedom of Information Act.  “Starting today, every agency and department should know that this administration stands on the side not of those who seek to withhold information, but those who seek to make it known,” Mr. Obama said Wednesday.  The announcement did not go unnoticed in Ottawa, where the Canadian government has moved in the opposite direction.  Canada’s Information Commissioner Robert Marleau   said that unreleased figures show more and more users of the Access to Information Act are hitting a wall in Canada. He added that his ATI report cards, to be released next month, will show a number of departments and agencies are failing in their legal duties. “The fog is thickening,” Mr. Marleau said. “Things are clearly going backwards in the amount of information that is being released, and there is a clear increase in the use of time extensions and exemptions. The numbers should be of concern to Canadian citizens.”In its current form, the act calls on the government to release requested documents within 30 days. But a number of officials who administer the Access to Information Act regularly complain that the Privy Council Office is playing an increasing role in vetting documents before they are released, causing delays that commonly reach six months and sometimes drag on for more than a year. In addition, the government relies increasingly on exemptions to censor information on contentious matters, such as the treatment of detainees in Afghanistan. In the United States, Mr. Obama said he still wants his government to protect national security and personal information, but that the rules should favour those who are seeking information. “The mere fact that you have the legal power to keep something secret does mean you should always use it,” he said.”The Freedom of Information Act is perhaps the most powerful instrument we have for making our government honest and transparent, and of holding it accountable. And I expect members of my administration not simply to live up to the letter but also the spirit of this law.” Mr. Obama said “transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency.” That message is similar to the Conservative Party’s promise in the 2006 election. However, the Harper government has failed to live up to its promise to “implement the Information Commissioner’s recommendations for reform of the Access to Information Act.” http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090121.wPOLtransparency0121/BNStory/politics/?page=rss&id=RTGAM.20090121.wPOLtransparency0121

Ad scandal isn’t dead yet  The Telegram  It may seem like it died quietly, but an interesting Elections Canada investigation into the conduct of the Conservative party in the 2006 federal election is still chugging along.  Wednesday, there was a court hearing in Toronto over material obtained by search warrant by Canada’s chief electoral officer when his office raided Conservative offices in Ottawa last year.  The Tories are vigorously fighting Elections Canada over the seized records.  The elections officer is investigating “in and out” financing. It’s a dodge by which the federal wing of the Conservative party transferred money to individual riding associations, ostensibly for riding advertising, and then had the money sent back to the party again where it was used to buy more national advertising.  The Conservatives allegedly moved $1.3 million to 67 riding offices, and then used that money to buy national ad space, even though they had already reached their limit of $18.3 million in national advertising. The Tories argue they are being singled out, and that they haven’t done anything that other parties haven’t done in the past. What complicates the story is that the national ads were booked long before party officials could have had any idea how much local ridings were going to spend on advertising, suggesting an orchestrated attempt to get around election spending rules. Beyond the Elections Canada investigation, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs held hearings, but many Conservative party officials refused to attend, even though the committee issued 31 summonses.  Before the issue could come to a head, Stephen Harper called a snap election, stopping the committee in its tracks.  In fact, that committee, and other fractious groups with similar issues, played a role in the “dysfunctional Parliament” that Harper said he needed to replace via an election.  You can understand the Conservatives’ position – to a point. House of Commons committees can be a bit of a “Gong Show,” and are regularly overtaken by partisan posturing. The problem is that they are also a legitimate part of the Parliamentary process, and ignoring them shows clear contempt for that process. Now, there are suggestions that the committee will regroup and call witnesses all over again, should Parliament sit next week. But there’s a fly in the ointment: one key witness is Irving Gerstein, head of fundraising for the Tories and their official agent for the 2006 federal election. But Gerstein was appointed to the Senate shortly before Christmas and, as a senator, he can no longer be compelled to appear before a House of Commons committee. Wheels within wheels within wheels. If members of a political party are willing to thumb their noses at a legislative committee – to the point of ignoring legally issued summonses – what other rules are they willing to flout?  Certainly it’s about time we knew whether or not the party with the most seats in the House of Commons played by the rules, or whether it has decided it is above such things.  http://www.thetelegram.com/index.cfm?sid=214228&sc=80

Chatham-Kent Essex MPP Pat Hoy is stepping on the toes of his federal counterpart in his call for Stephen Harper’s Conservative government make changes to Employment Insurance.  Hoy issued media release calling the EI program unfair to unemployed workers in Ontario and demanding changes to the program in Tuesday’s federal budget.  “An unemployed worker in Ontario gets $4,630 less in EI benefits each year than someone in any other province,” Hoy said, adding Ontario is being short-changed $2.1 billion annually in EI benefits. ” http://www.chathamdailynews.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1400733

THE CRTC flubs it again

Registered with the do-not-call list? Expect more calls, says consumer watchdog

Friday, January 23, 2009 |   CBC News  Canada’s highly touted do-not-call list is having the opposite effect, leading to more telemarketer calls, says the Consumers’ Association of Canada. “It’s a travesty,” president Bruce Cran said Friday. “Here we have all these people thinking they were getting rid of incoming phone calls. Anyone who is registered should suspect their phone number is being broadcast to the four winds.” The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission launched the registry in September to great fanfare, promising that those who registered would see a drop in unwanted calls soliciting goods and service. Millions of Canadians have registered their names, home phone numbers and in some cases their cellphone numbers. The problem, said Cran, is that the CRTC sells the registry list online. “In Toronto, you can get 600,000 names for $50,” he said. Telemarketers are required to subscribe to the list, paying an annual fee that depends on how often they chose to download updates. Those who violate the list by calling registrants may be fined up to $15,000 per call.  Chilliwack, B.C., real estate consultant Jim Stocco said he suspects the “avalanche of calls” he and his wife have been fielding lately is a result of having registered with the do-not-call list.  Before registering, Stocco had managed to bring unwanted phone solicitations down to about one a week by calling back telemarketers and asking them to take his phone number off their list.  “This do-not-call registry has made things worse. We now get five or six calls a day,” he said. “We both work at home and have clients across North America so we will answer calls. It has been a major irritant.”  Stocco said when he tries to call telemarketers back to ask that his number be taken off their list, he gets a voice mailbox that does not accept messages.  Glenn Thibeault, NDP critic for consumer protection, wrote to the federal privacy commissioner Jennifer Stoddart on Jan. 16 urging her to investigate.  “When the service is not only ineffective but assists in worsening the problem, Canadians have a right to be concerned, ” he said.   A spokesperson for the commissioner said Friday that she was aware of the problem before being contacted by Thibeault. “We are concerned as well,” said Heather Ormerod. “We are in contact with the CRTC and trying to gather relevant information to see how to proceed.”

I already rightfully have a very low opinion of the too often Useless CRTC
