The still Useless CRTC

Due to pressure from the Government NEXT THE STILL CLEARLY USELESS  CRTC REPORT finds that the  Canadian telecom companies still use misleading sales tactics,

The CRTC in an inquiry has confirmed allegations Canada’s telecommunications industry used unacceptable sales practices that misled consumers and harmed vulnerable members of the public. The commission says the misleading and aggressive practices exist in all types of sales channels, including in stores, online, over the telephone and at homes when companies conduct door-to-door sales campaigns. The report said many Canadians stated that they have been subjected to misleading or aggressive sales practices by the service providers, with many of them reporting that these instances occurred recently.“It also said the record shows the most vulnerable members of the public are seniors, people with disabilities and Canadians whose first language isn’t English or French, But the 41-page report didn’t identify the main perpetrators  by design.

Telecom regulator looked into the issue after the CBC reported the misleading, high-pressure tactics by Telecom firms.

Why did  it takes YET months  and months even  for the CRTC to deal with a clearly open and shut case.   Bell Canada gets the most complaints to the industry’s ombudsman, and Rogers usually gets the second-largest amount . Still  there are valid concerns about how quickly, or ever the CRTC will act on   the issues identified by the inquiry.

THE FINAL RESULTS,  a call to hold a public inquiry into sales practices at Canada’s major telecommunications service providers on the heels of more and more past  allegations of wrongdoing inside the industry was next falsely fulfilled by the CRTC with no real positive tangible results because the definitely corrupted CRTC clearly sleeps with the enemies of  citizens is not anew unacceptable norm, where Corruption is still a normal operational manner of the Liberal governments now too in Canada, They all first should get their own houses in order, and stop the lies, false misleading advertising, bribes, kickbacks and pirating software, films themselves as   do   as well..

TekSavvy Solutions Inc. has lodged a complaint with the CRTC, saying that critical statistical information compiled by the federal telecommunications regulator was omitted from last year’s edition of an annual industry report. TekSavvy says the 2018 Communications Monitoring Report issued Dec. 20 didn’t follow the CRTC’s usual practices for reporting things like consumer appetite for faster Internet, capital spending by independent ISPs and their market share.

TORONTO — The country’s independent Internet service providers were hit Tuesday by a regulatory ruling allowing major network owners such as BCE Inc. to charge “significantly” higher rates for wholesale Internet access. Though affecting less than 10% of Canadian retail Web users, the decision holds broader implications for competition in the sector if some smaller Internet Service Providers (ISPs) cannot afford the hikes and are squeezed out of the market. http://business.financialpost.com/2011/11/15/crtc-offers-compromise-plan-on-internet-billing/

“Canadians have been very clear in expressing their concerns about earlier UBB decisions,” Paradis said. http://www.montrealgazette.com/technology/Government+study+CRTC+ruling+Internet+billing/5718561/story.html

The first thing we Canadians need to do is get rid of the CRTC . They serve no purpose at all for us Canadians , its tell to get rid of them   It is about time the consumers are protected from greedy ma Bell too and we get real Competition, close down the useless CRTC  too.

It is too often clear as to how many corporations, politicians, civil servants, public servants   at the municipal, provincial, federal levels now are corrupt, and do lie, slander, they do even distort, twist the truth basically trying to win elections or to stay in power at all costs. It is  very despicable how many politicians.corporations still  do not only lie but they falsely think that because their own lies are now in the past they are forgotten and forgiven and they wrongfully deny any personal accountability, transparency thus. ..You can tell what a corporation or a politician is really like by not what they do, even say or the promises they say rather by what they do actually next, now, and once a liar and slanderer they will always be a liar and a slanderer next as well. A good tree brings forth good fruit and a bad tree brings forth bad fruit next still as well.

Your Internet provider could be short-changing you

rcmp ()

In the last year 2/3 of users complained about the internet in Canada, even that it  is too costly, Bell got the highest number of complaints.

.

We all should be really concerned now whether Internet service providers  such as Bell, Verizon are misleading customers with slower-than-advertised speeds.  Your  Internet provider could be mostly  short-changing  You, consumers by charging them for faster broadband speeds and failing to deliver the speeds being advertised. Now  each company should  provide copies of all the disclosures they have made to customers, as well as copies of any testing they may have done to study their Internet speeds. We deserve the Internet speeds they pay for. But, it turns out, too  many of us may be paying for one thing, and getting another. It seems they all still lie, are guilty of false, misleading advertisements. Most  broadband providers claiming to offer super-fast Internet connections may be rather delivering service that is slower than advertised.  It is immoral  that the broadband speeds that you pay for are so unsubstantiated  in reality.

THERE ARE TOO MANY PIGS IN THE INTERNET, CELL PHONE PARLOUR STILL

BELL HAS TO CAP IT’S  INTERNET CUSTOMERS’ USAGES, DOWNLOADS AND  OFTEN TOO, TO MAKE THE ROOM FOR THE WIRELESS PHONES AS WELL . BELL REALLY DOES NOT HAVE EXISTING ADEQUATE CAPACITY FOR BOTH, NOT EVEN FOR THE HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICES IN ALL AREAS OF CANADA. IT IS CLEARLY TOO CHEAP TO SPEND CAPITAL TO DO THIS ?

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/05/21/bell-throttles-internet-speeds/

Consumers are being caught in the middle of greedy telecomm companies.. It’s the Telcomm companies who have rooked us all and laughing all the way the bank.

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2014/06/23/can-bell-do-its-job-and-provide-me-now-their-proper-services/

WHEN IT NOW COMES TO THE ISP, INTERNET PRICING THERE FIRSTLY ARE STILL NO VIABLE ARGUMENTS, OR PROOF THAT THE OVERALL NETWORKING SYSTEM CAPACITIES ARE BEING EVEN NOW OVER BURDENED BY A FEW PERSONS, HEAVY USERS FOR RATHER SOLELY THE MAIN UNDENIABLE PROBLEM IS THAT TELECOMMUNICATION GIANTS FIRMS THEMSELVES HAVE TOO OFTEN MISLED, DO MISLEAD THE PUBLIC AS TO THE DEGREE OF THEIR ACTUAL SYSTEM CAPABILITIES, SPEEDS AND EVEN THE RELIABILITY OF THEIR SERVICES NOW AS WELL AS I HAVE EVEN DETAILED THIS FOR YEARS NOW TOO.

the 10 Commandments are still applicable today for all, corporations and business persons included

Bell Canada  to pay a penalty of $10 million for making misleading advertising claims

Bell, Shaw and Rogers still can’t seem to provide good customer services! why?  It is basically cause they still do not care for the customers as they still are too greedy solely for the customer’s  money..

The top 3 “Canada’s Worst Cell Phone Bill” belong to Bell, Rogers, Virgin and next no matter how their spin  doctors lie about it, make false promises to change it they all are still bad in reality.

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2011/03/23/%e2%80%9ccanada%e2%80%99s-worst-cell-phone-bill%e2%80%9d/

A  probe should also be focused on so-called interconnection arrangements, or contractual deals that Internet service providers strike with other networks for the mutual exchange of data. customers paying a premium for higher speeds may be experiencing a disruption in their service thanks to technical problems and business disputes over the interconnection agreements.  The  Internet service provider interconnection has a substantial impact on consumer Internet performance – sometimes too  severely. It should also review  the actual speeds delivered  to consumers over “the last mile,” a term that refers to the point where a telecommunication chain reaches a retail consumer’s devices.

The  customers who are paying a premium fee for higher internet speeds could be experiencing a disruption to their service due to technical issues brought about by business disputes in these interconnection deals. According to a study conducted last year [PDF] by the Measurement Lab Consortium (M-Lab), customers can suffer from slow internet speeds because of these relationships. There is a strong “possibility that interconnection arrangements may in some instances render irrelevant any benefit” of paying for a “premium” option

Bell it is a poorly regulated monopoly ..

BELL or BCE HAS SADLY NOW BEEN GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER.. WITH MUCH TOO MUCH FALSE ADVERTISING, CONSUMER ABUSES, PRICE GOUGING, POOR SUPPORT SERVICES…. ANY DOUBTS AS TO HOW BAD BELL IS.. NOTICE THAT MY BELL POSTING TEND TO SAY IN THE TOP TEN OF ALL MY SUBJECT POSTS.

Canada’s hogs get richer at the Citizens expense

MONTREAL – As Montrealers fumed about fare hikes and repeated métro breakdowns, several of the Société de transport de Montréal’s top managers were enjoying big pay raises last year. The salaries of 12 top STM managers jumped by more than 10 per cent in 2012 compared with 2011, according to a Gazette analysis based on information obtained under access-to-information. The data pertain to the STM’s “extended executive committee” — the agency’s 40 or so highest-paid employees. Salaries range between $120,000 and almost $300,000. In 2012, the average annual pay in this group jumped by 5.6 per cent or $9,200, increasing the average annual salary to $173,000. During the same period, the salaries of Montreal bus and métro drivers increased by two per cent. The average Canadian saw a salary increase of 2.8 per cent in 2012, according to Statistics Canada.  http://www.montrealgazette.com/business/managers+raises/8703628/story.html

.

You know why these big execs all who rather should have been fired they did not care about the  Metro Breakdowns? they likely too their cars to work, and could afford the parking downtown too ehh..  and how many Managers also go useless pay raises elsewhere now too?

.

MONTREAL — For years, Canada was regarded by international experts as one of the most protected and most expensive wireless markets in the world. Canadian consumers weren’t well served by mobile operators and that only began to change a few years ago when new entrants like Videotron and others came in and the market became more competitive.  Now, the federal government wants to continue the push toward greater competition and choice by auctioning off additional spectrum in September to attract a new player. From the perspective of consumers, what could be wrong with that?  http://www.montrealgazette.com/business/Peter+Hadekel+Bell+wireless+arguments+against+Verizon+ring/8709258/story.html

.

Well if you are Bell, Rogers, Telus, etc.. everything is wrong.. as they can never have enough money for a start..  Bell is one of Canada’s most hated Corporations still even because it too often abuses it’s customers still..

.

You did notice that CTV News support Bell, BCE here? oh I forgot Bell owns CTV…

Major Canadian telecommunications firms still unacceptably tend to lie

smartphones
.
There is also now  some seriously stiff competition out there when it comes to smartphones these days. Choosing your phone is becoming just about as tough as deciding between various telecommunications firms or between choosing to buy laptops or tablets. Samsung S4 or iPhone 5 or HTC One now  are the most popular, but still this doesn’t make even now  choosing between them an easy task.  Never take anything for granted, get it in writing first.
 .
The Major Canadian telecommunications firms even Bell and Rogers still unacceptably   tend to falsely lie to you when you  first approach them and you do  ask for their cost of your new  cellphone Monthly service? as I discovered last week firsthand too. For they generally hesitatingly too do not answer you directly as to what the costs. hidden costs too,  are but instead  like Bell does often they do falsely try to divert the answer by asking you rather as to what  want with to do with your cell phone, or how do you want to use it?
 .
Secondly  they still do not indicate generally upfront  all of the costs, sim card cost, installation fees, monthly costs, limitations, cancellation fees, contract terms, contract period,  and if you ask them for a list of all their plans and costs, detail available as  they seem not to have it.  Very much unlike the European services where costs are competitive and fully detailed. Verizon and Videotron seem to be an exception here.
.
Smartphones are phones that make life easy with their add-on features like camera, instant connect, video calling, email, social media, games, news, entertainment etc..  So firstly how is their battery lives? Can they be readily replaced, and where? The more expensive Apple iPhone5 has half the Battery life of the Samsung S4? wow.. in the long run it will costs you much more to own an Apple iPhone5..
,
Some of the things you might also  want to review first include  Length-  size , Material-, outer cover ,looks and weight. Processor and RAM- ,  storage memory-expandable?. Battery Life-   2,600mAh or 1,440mAh  or?, Camera-  Amount of MP rear and MP front ?

Canada’s Perverse telecom giants

Rogers, one of the largest telecom companies in the country, has found a way to block our access to affordable mobile services. We’re now looking at a future where just three mobile telecom giants could control a monopoly of the Internet and phones services, holding back progress and innovation. This is totally unacceptable.

1. Canadians already do pay some of the highest cell phone fees and are forced into some of the worst contracts in the industrialized world.
2. Our broken cell phone market limits our use of mobile Internet technologies, and with it our creativity and entrepreneurship. Providing more choice for Canadians is crucial to innovation, and the success of our economy.
3. Canadians suffer from poor service because three big cell phone conglomerates control nearly 94% of the market
4. To make matters even worse, Rogers has come up with a plan to block our access to the few affordable mobile services that do exist by obtaining scarce wireless spectrum assets. Who next?
5. This will mean more control for Big Telecom and higher prices and less choice for you and your family.
6. The Rogers plan breaks Industry Canada rules because it grants the Big Telecom conglomerate access to wireless spectrum assets that were specifically set aside for new, more affordable telecom options for Canadians.
7. The Industry Minister, Christian Paradis, has the ability to enforce the government’s rules for cell phone service but so far he has falsely refused to do so.
8. Tens of thousands of Canadians have already told Industry Minister Paradis to stop Big Telecom from killing affordability in Canada’s mobile Internet and cell phone market

IS THERE REALY ANY DOUBT AS TO HOW BIG LIARS OUR TELECOMMUNICATIONS FIRMS ARE?

add to that the oil companies…

The Competition Bureau is suing Canada’s three biggest wireless carriers and  an industry association for allegedly misleading consumers about the cost of  premium texting services.

The watchdog accuses Bell (TSX:BCE), Rogers (TSX:RCI.B) and Telus (TSX:T),  along with the industry group that represents them, of enabling third parties to  sell trivia questions, ringtones and other services without adequately  disclosing the cost.

Those can cost up to $10 per transaction and up to $40 for a monthly  subscription over and above standard texting plans, the bureau said in a release  Friday.

“Our investigation revealed that consumers were under the false impression  that certain texts and apps were free,” said bureau commissioner Melanie  Aitken.

“Unfortunately, in far too many cases, consumers only became aware of  unexpected and unauthorized charges on their mobile phone bills.”

First   Check your phone bill: You’re probably being overcharged for data or anything else since  customers  are still too often ABUSED. Overall, the average overcharge can be at least  about 5-7% for most users and in the end it’s typically no fault of yours.

Canada also already has bandwidth caps that are too low, and too expensive. When it comes to taking full advantage of the opportunities the Web opens up, Canadians are are being falsely priced gouged at every turn still by these clearly greedy, immoral Communication firms here.

There are many Canadian ISPs with download caps as low as 15GB for a month, with  excess billing charges if you burst through the 15GB limit.

The Netflix stock itself is still smarting 1 year after their severe service price hike. The unexpected twist that Netflix unveiled a year ago had triggered mass customer cancellations and a sell-off in its stock, which had wiped out more than $11 billion US in shareholder wealth. Netflix Inc. has bounced back this year to revive its subscriber growth. But even after a recent rally, its stock remains more than 70 per cent below its peak price of nearly $305 about a year ago, largely because of concerns about what Netflix has been spending to attract and retain subscribers. Many Canadian telecommunications firms have to do the same, pay continually very high amount of advertising to try to make up for the much too many customers they offend and lose http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2012/07/13/tech-netflix.html

While Canada’s major telecom companies — Rogers (TSX:RCI.B), Bell (TSX:BCE) and Telus  (TSX:T) — and consumer advocacy groups all support the idea of national  standards that would apply to wireless devices that alone will not deal with the much too many consumer complaints here too. Even Canada’s wireless services needs more serious and valid regulation since they seem to be robbing, price gouging  the citizens at every point they can, Canada’s service providers are not competitive enough,  and Canadians pay too much  compared to telecom users around the worl. Thier broadband caps to a ‘human rights violation’. Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has blasted Canadian internet service providers (ISPs) for their low caps and excess usage charges . Sarandos minced no words when speaking of Canada’s ISPs, stating: “It’s almost a human rights violation, what they’re charging for internet access in Canada.”and he is right. Canada’s internet access  is”third world”, and  Netflix business in the country has suffered as a result too. Organizations like OpenMedia have been rightfuly  battling for Internet openness and fairness to consumers for years. And, of course, Bell, Telus  or Rogers have been named the worst throttler in the world. 10% of Canadians use Netflix But Netflix’s Ted Sarandos thinks that number would be a lot higher if it wasn’t for Canadian ISPs. So could likely many others.

Bell Canada, Bell Aliant and Télébec, dominant phone, pay phone providers throughout Ontario, Atlantic Canada and  Quebec, all have applied to double the cost of a pay phone call—from 50 cents to a dollar. The cost of using a prepaid debit card would rise to $2 a call. These prices were even previously doubled five years ago.  And where else can uou see such a great rater of price increases, inflation under any exuse now to? And is this still  a really big issue.. when you consider that the telecomunications firms are not only known big advertsing  liars, making loads of money in the processs but they falsely also tend to use a bait and switch policy.. they tend to advertise great, compartive rates but you likley will find next escalting, greedy, price gouging price increases on their servcies with plenty of extra charges,   known reasons why they are also hated so much by so many Canadians ..  and explaining  still simply why they are also making so much money and have become rich, and all this is never acceptable still. It is all sad when you do consider even that Canada drops entirely out of the top 10 when it comes to cellphones,  internet infrastructure. Canadian citizens not only do suffer from relatively slow Internet speeds but they are falsely price gouged for using the services too

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/greedy-immoral-bell-canada-lies-misleads-is-crooked/

.

and where else do they also abuse us now????

April 17, 2012

The governments, Politicians cares about own good welfare firstly, the best joke of the year too

The Governments, Politicians supposedly caring  about own good welfare firstly, is the best joke of the year too, in reality rather they are working realy hard everyday too looking first after themselves , and undeniably clearly living high on the hog at our expense, and that even includes too many of our bad civil and public servants too now.. WHERE ARE THE POLICE HERE TOO WHEN YOU NEED THEM??? And accountability, openness, transparency are more Stephen Harper’s conservative government lies that need to be prosecuted as well.. Under the new  federal Conservatives the civil an public servants are not being managed any better and they still too often waste, abuse our tax dollars and this is unacceptable. Mostly Pretentious and  useless RCMP,  Consumer Protection, Health Canada, and Revenue Canada need to really shape up still now too

 https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/02/18/stop-now-all-of-the-taxpayers-money-abuses/

Even deal with the much too many still bogus refugees  who now do receive better care than Canadian taxpayers because they do not hesitate to cheat, lie, steal, commit tax evasions, abuse our goodness and it is still unacceptable.

.

And what about still dealing with our elected political members, civil and public servants who too often have abused the tax payers generosity now as well, they also seem still to get away with it..
.

And all of this is just as bad as the provinces, municipalities steal and abuse some of the federal money designated to help the citizens directly but they still did not fool me though too

Need I say more?

None of it is acceptable.

Canadian issues

OVER YEARS I HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT IMPORTANT ISSUES ON BEHALF OF ALL CANADIANS, issues that the government and the news media have not done enough about, and issues that I have had firsthand related experiences, knowledge about including the undeniable reality that

1 We have much too many crooked pastors, bad church elders in the Canadian Churches, non profitable organization such as the Salvation Army included now, bad persons who abuse the flock and misuse the donations…  not acceptable

2: We have too many bad cops, bad police supervisors in Canada, RCMP now included who have wrongfully not been dismissed from their jobs and have been allowed to be unpunished.. my recommendation to deal with this tend to be the same firstly public exposure and next cut off their budgets significantly until they do something about it.

3: Our medicare and the related care of the elderly persons also still needs much significant improvement.. Now about the Shit disease found in hospitals too often still, , the new media covers up the story by using fancy Latin names, but it is the same sickness that kills patients while none falsely has yet to be punished for it.. yes we have too many bad Nurses, bad Doctor, bad supervisors in Canada, bad persons, money hungry or lazy persons who have wrongfully not been dismissed from their jobs and have been allowed to be unpunished.. my own recommendation to deal with this tend to be the same firstly public exposure and next cut off their budgets significantly until they do something about it… plus my own personal solution to the problem was to change doctors and even change hospitals…   not acceptable

4: Justice and the courts.. I do my best to stay out of courts, cause I cannot trust anyone not even the judges or the lawyers.. sadly it is a well know and unacceptable fact that many lawyers are just big liars, and the related law societies falsely allows the lawyers to lie on behalf of their clients, bad judges now included…  not acceptable

5: Bad politicians and bad political parties.. Face we falsely tend to continue to elect the liars.. Most people too readily accept liars and their lies, and the bigger the easier it seems too. Even the news medias do lie and spin the truth too often….  not acceptable

Just read a news story from different sources and you tend to get very different results.. one news media reported on a story that no one had died, and another read said seven had died and six other persons were missing for example..  not acceptable

6: No doubt about it even big unions succeed falsely in silencing the truth, and falsely hinder the punishment of the guilty persons.. not acceptable

7: Massive welfare, social assistance and tax evasion is a major unacceptable very active Canadian event practised by old Canadians and new Canadians and the pretentious governments realy do fail to address the issues effectively still…  not acceptable

8: How can I now also even  leave out all those price gouging, abusive corporations like the oil firms, the monoplistic and bad telecommunication firms such as Rogers, Bell, Virgin, and the greedy, self centered major food grocery stores, pharmacies  now too…  not acceptable

etc..,

Once again the Big firms like Rogers tend not to respect the laws..

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2012/01/14/oppose-the-price-increases-lack-of-competition/

OTTAWA — Rogers Communications Inc., is breaking Canada’s Internet traffic management rules by deliberately slowing down certain online traffic, the country’s telecommunications regulator said Friday. In a letter to Rogers posted to its website Friday, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commissions said it is “of the belief” that the telecom giant is in breach of the rules governing how Internet Service Providers control the flow of traffic on their networks. “Within two weeks, I look forward to you either presenting us with a rebuttal of our evidence or providing us with a plan to come into compliance with the (Telecommunications) Act,” writes Andrea Rosen, CRTC’s chief compliance and enforcement officer. “Failure to provide a meaningful rebuttal or an effective plan will result in my recommendation to Commissioners to hold a show-cause hearing.” http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/01/20/rogers-breaking-internet-rules-by-throttling-bandwidth-crtc/

.

So who realy protects the Canadian citizens from the too often bad, immoral  firms in reality, now  holding the much too many crooked   firms to accountiablity but if there is any justice  it takes years to do so.. and for decades then not much good  tends to happen ..

OPPOSE THE PRICE INCREASES, LACK OF COMPETITION

Get ready for price increases, more bureaucratic red tape, and disrespectful customer service.

We have reports that the Big Three cell phone giants (who control roughly 94% of the market) are trying to trick the government into shutting out independent competitors. Some of them are going so far as to use high-priced lobbyists and a fake grassroots campaign1.

If the Big Three succeed, they will:

  • SqueezeCanadians into tighter contracts, with disrespectful customer service.
  • Squeezemore money out of your wallet every single month.
  • Squeeze independent providers out of the cell phone market.

In short, they will be the only game in town, and that means you and I will pay more for our cell phones. It will lock Canada behind the rest of the world on mobile communications, cripple essential innovation, limit social progress, and drain your wallet every month.

Sign the Stop The Squeeze petition before it’s too late!

Canadians already pay some of the highest cell phone fees in the free world2. This is a gut check for Canada. Will we let price-gouging big telecom companies squeeze every last penny out of our wallets before we stand up for ourselves? Will we let them slow-walk our economy into disaster?

We’ve heard that the Industry Minister is about to make a decision that could rubber stamp this cell phone nightmare into reality. Please join Canadians from across the country in signing this urgent petition to send him a message.

Let’s not put up with this anymore.

Bell Canada and the Evenko promotion company could face fines for violating lobbying rules while they negotiated for the rights to the city’s proposed $400 million arena. Quebec’s lobbying commissioner, Francois Casgrain, ruled this week that the two companies failed to register as lobbyists prior to the start of talks.  The contract eventually went to Quebecor Inc., owner of QMI Agency and the Sun Media chain. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/2011/12/22/19158326.html

CRTC rejects Bell plan for wholesale Internet billing, CRTC helps to rob consumers

Rogers has promised to stop throttling internet traffic on its network by the end of this year, in response to an investigation by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2012/02/03/tech-rogers-throttling.html

With the Help of  the bad CRTC, now Bell and the majors, force a serious struggle even for survival for the independent Internet service providers who have already been struggling hard against giant telephone and cable companies. The CRTC was to improve competion in Canada and not rather to help the big firms to jack up the profits, prices, make loads more money  and to put the other smaller firms out of business

GATINEAU, Qc – The federal telecommunications regulator has rejected a controversial plan that would have allowed the big phone and cable companies to impose a usage-based billing model on Internet service resellers, a system that the Conservative government and many consumers had opposed.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s decision on Tuesday instead gives the companies a choice of either charging the smaller Internet providers a flat rate per user or selling the ISPs a specific amount of capacity on their networks.

“The net effect of it is that there will be no caps, no limitations, no metering of use for retail customers as a result of this CRTC decision,” CRTC chairman Konrad von Finckenstein said Tuesday.

The issue also led to debate about how Canadians should be charged for Internet services and how much bandwidth they use.

But the CRTC focused only on the wholesale prices independent Internet providers pay for network use — not the monthly retail rates they charge their customers.

It is about time the consumers are protected from greedy ma Bell too and we get real Competetion, close down the useless CRTC  too.

OTTAWA — The federal government says it will review this week’s decision by the country’s telecommunications regulator to allow large Internet providers to use new capacity-based billing for independent service providers. “We will study the CRTC’s decision carefully to ensure that it meets our objectives of encouraging competition and network investment and enabling consumer choice,” Industry Minister Christian Paradis said in a statement following Tuesday’s ruling. “Canadians have been very clear in expressing their concerns about earlier UBB decisions,” Paradis said. http://www.montrealgazette.com/technology/Government+study+CRTC+ruling+Internet+billing/5718561/story.html

-Pay more? You have got to be kidding me! Canadians are already living in the dark ages in terms of high speed ]service, which by the way we already pay way more for then pretty much every other country on this planet!

-How about…..why is Rogers now getting into BANKING….you think they are doing o.k.?

How about the fact that Bell media had exploded and is buying up huge chunks of our country??

How about the fact that the CRTC is holding open the door for these extortionists to bleed us for all that we can stand

-I believe in getting what you pay for but that’s never been the case with this industry.

It’s infuriating to think I’ll end up paying more for a service that  never delivered what was advertised in the first place. The worst part is, there is no other option.

-Congratulations CRTC on your major contribution to line the big corporate pockets & scewing us but good. Crooks in bed with crooks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-You didn’t actually think the CRTC was on the side of the avergae Canadian consumer did you??

-Disband the CRTC now and start with a leaner more competitive-friendly regulator that is not staffed with the same out of touch people it currently employs in Gatineau
