Healthy eating and healthy living

Too many persons still do falsely still do think they can eat whatever they want, or do what they want personally and next they will not reap any negative Karma, they will not reap what they had sowed. Dream on! Guess why so many people are next sick now too..

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION HERE TOO IS BETTER OVER  A POUND OF CURE!

In Canada hundreds of thousands of persons do annually die from heart diseases, cancer, diabetes still and why Is that? is it from smoking cigarettes and their  drinking alcohol too much? or what else?

The reality is that most people are still busy even doing their own thing, the professionals, doctors and nurses included now, they themselves do know very little about healthy food, healthy eating, or what basically causes cancer, heart diseases, diabetes. etc…

And too many persons still ignorant do mainly and wrongfully attribute diabetes solely to sugar consumption neglecting many other essential factors as well. The most common nutrition myth is probably that sugar causes diabetes. The main risk factors for Type 2 diabetes are not eating regularly, not eating smaller portions of food more often, or a diet high in calories, being overweight, and an inactive lifestyle. If you have diabetes, you still do need to watch your sugar and carbohydrate intake, with the help of your Registered Dietitian, to properly manage your blood sugar level. Fortunately, the complications of diabetes can be prevented, delayed, or slowed by controlling blood glucose levels to as close to the normal range as possible and this still does involves eating more regularly, and eating more proper foods as well.For all persons even a diabetic skipping meals is a bad disruption. It is important to not skip meals because it disrupts the blood sugar regulation. Some oral diabetes medications (like Metformin a first-line drug of choice for the treatment of type 2 diabetes ) should always also be taken with meals. Since most oral diabetes medications don’t work immediately (like for example a pain medication), but rather they have a cumulative effect to be therapeutic. It has been shown that keeping blood sugars as near to normal as possible helps reduce the long-term complications of diabetes. As a diabetic, you should not skip meals nut should take the oral diabetes medication everyday at approximately the same time. By skipping one’s medications as well, one is not getting the full benefit of them. Not skipping meals allows the body to achieve a steady blood sugar level in the body. For example, if a diabetic skips a meal their blood sugar could drop, which is called hypoglycemia which can lead to more serious medical aspects too..

In reality Canada’s major personal sicknesses, major causes of personal deaths are still mainly related to even the  basics of one’s bad food intake, or to one’s  lack of sleep, or a lack of exercise and even due to taking  bad drugs and one’s alcohol consumption plus also one’s personal failure to reduce or to deal properly with ones inadequate negative personal stresses that we all do too often encounter in real life.

10 Diet & Nutrition Myths Debunked
1 The most common nutrition myth is probably that sugar that mainly causes diabetes, first look elsewhere rather..
2 Myth- All Fats are bad It’s a long-held nutrition myth that all fats are bad. But the fact is, we all need fat.
3 Myth- Brown Sugar is better than White Sugar. The brown sugar sold at grocery stores is actually white granulated sugar with added molasses.
4 Myth- Brown Eggs are more nutritious than White Eggs Contrary to a widely believed nutrition myth, eggshell color has nothing to do with the quality, flavor, nutritive value, cooking characteristics, or shell thickness of an egg
5 Myth- Avoid seafood to lower blood cholesterol In fact, the dietary cholesterol found in seafood and other meats has little effect on blood cholesterol in most people.
6 Myth- Avoid carbohydrate to lose weight or that the carbohydrates promote insulin production
7 Myth- Avoid nuts as they are fattening, but if you can restrain yourself from overeating them, nuts can be a part of a healthy diet.
8 Myth- Eating for 2 is necessary during pregnancy
9 Myth- Skipping meals can help lose weight. The People who think skipping meals means weight loss do not understand how our bodies work.
A better approach is to eat smaller frequent healthy meals and snacks to keep your blood sugar balanced.
10 Myth- Red meat is bad for health. It is true that some studies have linked red meat with increased risk of heart disease, partly due to the saturated fat content. In fact, even chicken can contain as much saturated fat as lean cuts of beef or pork. Instead of excluding red meats, choose leaner cuts of beef and pork. For beef, choose eye of round, top round roast, top sirloin and flank; for pork, choose tenderloin and loin chops.

Myth 11 Brown sugar is healthier over white sugar.. basicaly they are the same.

Here is another sad truth, if you do not want to listen to the common sense, established health facts you can always find a liar who  will support your views but nevertheless you will reap what you sow in your health now still too

In a new report, a large group of American doctors urge kids and  teens to avoid energy drinks and only consume sports drinks in limited  amount. Florida pediatricians described cases of seizures, delusions, heart problems and kidney or liver damage in people who had drunk one or more  non-alcoholic energy drinks — including brands like Red Bull, Spike Shooter and Redline.

While it is true that all people do need to be energetic and not hyperactive, melancholy rather as well but first when we have learned to help ourselves we next can also help others.

Here are some more  important truths related to being healthy

1 Good food and good eating habits will even let you sleep better, and also help you you get a proper night sleep. Too many persons now do suffer as a result of their lack of sleep which affects negatively their health  and bery serioulsy

2 In the real world and in the ideal world your own mother, and not someone else firstly should have taught you how too even eat the proper food, plus as to what food is good and appropriate for you to eat, and even how to properly prepare it. Unfortunately as it is too often the case if your mother is not a good dietician or a great cook and/or she is also very ignorant on the subject so next will the rest of the family unacceptably be as well.

Now also our general education system itself still often fails to deal with the topic of staying healthy, what is good food, on good eating habits as well adequately. Kind of explains why so many doctors, nurses, professionals themselves do not eat the healthy, or proper food.

And we are next left to governments and big corporations, the big money hungry corporations who too often have hidden agendas and as a result they do present half or distorted truth, health facts and do not tell is all that we personally do need to know.

Ezek 34:4 The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. 5 And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.

3 Too many persons also do fail to understand, fail to realize the importance of a proper, adequately working food digestion system now as well. They firstly do fail to realize the importance of basic water consumptions in helping all of our food intake to digest and they do not drink enough water, or wrongfully consume caffeine, alcohol that causes more dehydration even, as well which leads to both digestion and heart, cancer problems often too. Knowing how your digestive system is supposed to work will help you.

Even before you eat, when you smell a tasty food, see it, or think about it, digestion begins. Saliva (say: suh-lye-vuh), or spit, begins to form in your mouth. Your digestive system started working even before you took the first bite of your food. And the digestive system will be busy at work on your chewed-up lfood  for the next few hours — or sometimes days, depending upon what you’ve eaten. This process, called digestion, allows your body to get the nutrients and energy it needs from the food you eat. So let’s find out what’s happening to that pizza, orange, and milk. When you do eat, the saliva breaks down the chemicals in the food a bit, which helps make the food mushy and easy to swallow.  http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/digestive_system.html

Now also next we have to understand what products do cause dehydration, such as coffee, alcohol, the products that do affect the stomach juices and one’s ability to properly digest foods and rather which can have a very negative effect on our heart, health.

4 Now add to this the fact that too many people fail to understand what is that it leads to one having diabetes next as well.. and the issue is not just your sugar consumptions. I am shocked as to how ignorant people are when it comes to the aspect of sugar consumption and how overboard they do also go..

Most People also do still fail to see  also still that salt is bad for you since it retains water in the blood  and increases one’s heart stress as a direct result.

5 Next we relatedly too often have the religious inclined discussions, and a lack of understanding on the danger or benefit of fat, meat, good and bad cholesterol.. or vegetarians versus non vegetarians. Here is the reality skinny persons too often die as much as fat people due to the major sicknesses too.. You need fats to survive and be healthy, but you need to choose the right ones.

There are also both good and bad fats and good and bad sugars. Also Sugar alone does not lead to diabetes, but rather one’s poor eating habits, eating meals irregularly or skipping them ..

Fat vs. Sugar – Which Is Worse?

The website for the McKinley Health Center at the University of Illinois states that fat is crucial for “normal growth and development, energy, absorbing certain vitamins, and maintaining cell membranes.” The United States Department of Agriculture now recommends that fat make up 20 percent to 35 percent of daily calorie intake, and some nutritionists encourage an even higher percentage of fat consumption. Heather Fleming, a nutrition consultant for Conscious Nutrition, recommends two servings of healthy fat per meal, for a total of six servings per day. Ms. Fleming says that healthy fats are essential and are like “oil for the body…Our cells are made of phospholipids, and that’s where the healthy fats…go to reenergize the cells.” http://www.docshop.com/2008/08/12/fat-vs-sugar-which-is-worse

Still we all do need to deal personally with all these aspects and to get, have a proper understanding here now still as well and not just absurdly say Any fat or Sugar Is Ruining Your Health or say that one can eat whatever one wants.

also do see my health blog for more info.. http://stayinhealth.wordpress.com/ or https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/more-competent-doctors-are-needed-and-not-more-useless-nurses-or-more-beds/

.. get a healthy life and not a sick one.

Three of the clearly sad aspects of Medicare, medical care in Canada too often are that
1: Too many of the sick patients have spend a lifetime getting sick and they seem next to want an immediate instant, permanent cure, even without any effort, work , inconvenience,pain or fuss on their own parts. Here they do too often unrealistically expect rather the pretentious ambulance doctor to even come to their home and find, and next to deliver an instant medical cure for their major ailment.
2: Also they do all mostly fail to realize that the family doctor he or she cannot basically help them when they develop a major sickness, in the 20 minutes allotted to him or her every 3 months for he or she firstly basically cannot realistically help the patient, they thus really cannot discover their major sickness for he or she does not have the time, resources to do so. Hiring more nurses receptionists helps nothing here
too.
3: Only the overcrowded already major hospitals have the staff, resources, equipment to help people who have a serious sickness and they tend to have their own schedules, priorities. They work weekdays 9-4 only.

And Fourthly even the generally over priced price gouging, often not fully medically competent pharmacist, pharmacies, and the dermatologist included are basically no help in what they recommend, prescribe if you have a major illness to.. for example a major unknown foot disease..

Now with Canada rapidly aging seniors population medical care will certainly only get worse based on how pretentions and our still mostly useless our health ministers, politicians too tend to ne in all this too.
Canada is already known for having bad pretentious civil and public servants that do not care about others good health too. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/more-competent-doctors-are-needed-and-not-more-useless-nurses-or-more-beds/

PS: Doctors are not Gods.  Even the good Doctors are not Gods, they do not  know it all, some are rather still stupid when it comes to effectively  helping  a sick person.The professional quality of a medical doctors lies not just in his university and clinical training but it also lies in the degree of his or her  actual  field experience and   being kept updated with the medical advancements. Kinda of explains while some doctors have not been initially able to  help me with my severe medical problems and thus they have too often wrongfully forced me to seek the expertise of many other doctors next too. Doctors are not Gods, some rather are still  very bad sinners who do for billing purposes now  lie and pretend that they are good doctors still too. Self regulation of the bad doctors too often is still mere masturbations. We need an enforced  federal Bill that will tighten the  regulation of doctors and clarify the obligations of the medical and law-enforcement communities to report, communicate, act upon all of the suspected physician misconduct and patient neglect,  abuse.  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/more-competent-doctors-are-needed-and-not-more-useless-nurses-or-more-beds/

The dictatorial RCMP and Conservative Government’s typical unacceptable malaise

The no longer creditable RCMP are defending the arrest and detention of Alberta environmental activist Wiebo Ludwig in connection with a series of natural gas pipeline bombings in B.C. even though no charges have been laid a month after the arrest.

First do get real and tell me how you would feel if the Law now falsely said it could put a poisons gas  pipe directly into your bathroom, that could maybe sometimes kill your wife, children, etc, and next would you now fully  object, get angry, or resort to violence even to try to stop it? or would you merely now allow it, just turn your cheek? The  police drama now unfolding in the rich natural gas and oil fields of Western Canada has as much to say about the  the corrupt state of the nation’s extreme resource development, Provincial governments and the RCMP . It also offers a Canadian window into the state’s over wrought preoccupation with making money at all costs, disregarding the citizen’s concerns too.

Sadly Like too many political parties it seems the  citizens mainly do not count, or their views or needs, desires for  they only count on election days. I was once talking to deputy Minister Ken Kowalski of Alberta about this as to why and he replied cause in Alberta they do not pay the taxes. But rather the real reason  is the clear too often lack of respect for the all of citizens still by most civil and public servants, LEADERS, political parties, SOME CORPORATIONS NOW TOO,  Canada wide. This is also especially true of the RCMP, COPS  unacceptable, poor  attitudes towards most of the citizens now as well and I have often dealt with them face to face too.. I rightfully do not accept such bad attitudes.

CALGARY – An aboriginal group in British Columbia is fighting the development of a crude oil pipeline from Alberta’s oilsands to the West Coast.  The natural resource manager of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation says construction on Enbridge Inc.’s (TSX:ENB) Northern Gateway Pipeline would threaten his community’s traditional way of life.  David deWit also says the regulatory process does not recognize his community’s right to make decisions on its own territory.  http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100118/national/enbridge_aboriginals

 For nearly a year now, the 250 useless members of the RCMP and the Integrated National Security Enforcement Teams (INSET) have been searching for the author or authors of six highly calculated yet minor bombings targeted solely against the gas facilities owned by Encana, the continent’s largest gas producer. Now they are embarrassed that they have nothing to show for it report to desperate cover up acts..
In a scene chock full of déjà vu, notorious malcontent Reverend Wiebo Ludwig was arrested in Grande Prairie, A.B.. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 in connection with the bombing of EnCana pipelines in northern British Columbia, and promptly released without charge the next morning. Ludwig, who is the head of a large, religious family who live communally on a farm near Hythe, Alberta, is no stranger to RCMP in the region. In the late 1990s, he spent 19 months in jail on charges related to vandalism and bombing of oil and gas operations in the area, which he staunchly maintains are detrimental to the health and well being of his family and the environment as a whole. Still others look to him for guidance in dealing with the Goliath industry that EnCana represents. http://www.themanitoban.com/articles/24421

Some economically self   interested rednecked persons do also emotionaly oppose anything Reverend Wiebo Ludwig stands for AND ARE TOO READY TO TAKE OUT THE TOOTH PICK IN OTHER’S EYES BUT THEY CANNOT SEE THE BEAMS STILL IN THEIR OWN.   No doubt this whole issue presently  cause some persons to go crazy about Reverend Wiebo Ludwig in the gas, oil industries, the RCMP included and makes me wonder how morally stable now they themselves really are too? for they themselves now are not great living examples of decency for sure,   being ready to hang a person without fully established  present direct evidence of being guilty is a really immoral act still too. We all by now should know that firstly even a  RCMP officer’s word is not longer to be trusted as necessarily even being the truth, or the reality.. and that is why we have courts to decide guilt.. Now anyone who thinks that all employees of all of the oil companies or of the RCMP now are all angels is a fool. NOW I DO NOT APPROVE OF  ANY VIOLENCE, DEATH, KILLING, MURDER, BOMBING BUT I DO NOT APPROVE OF TURNING ONE’S CHEEK TO ANY OF  THE IMMORAL GAS OR OIL FIRMS OR ANY INCOMPETENT, PRETENTIOUS, DICTATORIAL RCMP, etc.,

 So the  frustrated teams of red-faced policemen now have interrogated hundreds of rural Canadians as far afield as Rosebud and Vulcan, Alberta. They’ve barged into homes demanding DNA samples and fingerprints. In restaurants and coffee huts they’ve publicly accused businessmen and Cree living near Dawson Creek and Tomslake of being “domestic terrorists.” Any family that has expressed concern about the pace or regulation of industrial development has received more than two police visits. With visions of Encana’s million-dollar reward dancing in their heads, industry snitches have informed on citizens — in Tim Hortons no less. But by treating rural citizens like Taliban suspects, authorities have demonstrated a profound ignorance of the basic tenets of counter-insurgency: you can’t catch a fish by unsettling the entire sea.  This desperate investigation, in turn, reflects the political value of natural gas in British Columbia’s economy. The province no longer runs on trees, but on natural gas dollars generated by unconventional shale gas plays that consume huge amounts of energy and water. In 2008 the highly subsidized industry accounted for 10 per cent of the province’s revenue and exports. In a pre-emptive strike to spare the Olympics any unsightly controversies before the international media, the RCMP then fingered the notorious 68-year-old grandfather as their man last week but failed produce enough evidence for an extortion charge. The force then went on a grand fishing expedition on his farm.  And what does this say about the rule of law in Canada? To generate revenue to pay for an international event, an urban-based government will install deadly sour gas wells near rural schools. When regulators become facilitators, bombers create violence which, in turn, only begets silence. Under Olympic deadlines and in the name of “public security” a sullied federal police will treat fellow Canadians like Afghan detainees. In this bizarre story a convicted felon and sarcastic preacher becomes a convenient fall guy for all sorts of bad behavior.  All in all it remains an ugly spectacle of uncommon corruption and uncivil conduct befitting a third world nation.   http://thetyee.ca/Opinion/2010/01/13/BombingsAndOlympics/

“the only conclusion one can draw is that the entire farce was a cynical and grotesque animal act, combining the flimsiest of fishing expeditions with a taxpayer-funded dog-and-pony show..  – that the search and arrest smacks of an elaborate stunt to produce the semblance of progress in the pipeline case with the purpose of allaying image concerns of domestic terrorism before the Olympics and obscure the subsequent drain of police resources towards the lower mainland that event will inevitably produce – will acquire distressing weight”. RCMP and their   RCMP’s sins the clearly funny  big top circus ring on display again!

The day after police officers finished scouring his property, Wiebo Ludwig was acting as gracious host, showing journalists around the homes and outbuildings where investigators searched for evidence related to a string of bomb blasts in nearby British Columbia. Mr. Ludwig, 68, who presides over a community of about 50 people, congenially pointed out which buildings had been searched first and listed some items that had been collected, including a computer, pens, some documents and even some jack knives belonging to his grandchildren. He also said he’d given police a DNA sample. Mr. Ludwig didn’t know everything the police were searching for, he said, but “didn’t think it was anything indictable.” Asked why the RCMP said his arrest was related to public safety concerns, Mr. Ludwig – who was convicted and jailed for bombing attacks against the Alberta oil and gas industry in the 1990s – shrugged.“It doesn’t make sense because I can go wherever I like,” Mr. Ludwig said Tuesday at his farm near Hythe, Alta. He was arrested Friday and released Saturday without charges. Police obtained a five-day warrant and wrapped up their search of the site on Monday afternoon. “If I’m the dangerous one, what kind of public safety is involved in that?” A polarizing figure, Mr. Ludwig is known for waging a bitter war against oil and gas companies around his home in rural Alberta and, to some, as a champion for the rights of rural citizens against unchecked industrial development. He has long blamed the proximity of gas pipelines and sour gas leaks to such health concerns as asthma, cancer and fetal development. Mr. Ludwig and the RCMP have a history. The RCMP used an undercover operation to investigate Mr. Ludwig’s role in the Alberta sabotage. This time around, the agency said in October, 2008, Mr. Ludwig was not a suspect. At various occasions over the past year, Mr. Ludwig said, he met with RCMP to talk about possibly helping in the investigation, perhaps through “profiling” the individual who was responsible for the attacks. Mr. Ludwig also wrote an open letter to the bomber. Then, this past Friday, a meeting with an RCMP officer at a hotel in Grande Prairie turned into his arrest. Mr. Ludwig says he was questioned for 10 hours, grilled about any knowledge of the bombings and told that investigators had DNA evidence against him. Free once more on his bucolic farm, Mr. Ludwig serenely says the recent focus on him, and the Tomslake bombings, should get people thinking about their dependence on fossil fuels, the collapse of the family unit and the need to seek out better ways of living. “The RCMP has said it’s common to make an arrest in a major investigation without pressing charges.” This precisely why binding civilian oversight of the RCMP is required. Arrest without charges – that is, throwing people in jail without being accused of a crime – should never ever be common place.   Wiebo wobbled but the Mounties fell down.   http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/rcmp-ends-search-and-wiebo-ludwig-opens-his-door/article1429049/
Rural Albertans show sympathy for Ludwig   Canwest News Service   Tuesday, January 12, 2010   EDMONTON — The arrest of a convicted oil patch bomber last Friday stirred up some empathy among residents living near sour gas developments in Alberta. Wiebo Ludwig was released after 24 hours without being charged, as RCMP officials continue to investigate six bombings of EnCana facilities near the B.C.-Alberta border. Some in the Tomslake area of northeastern B.C., where the bombs were set off, said the bomber gets all the attention while not enough effort is spent to reduce the environmental and safety threats posed by poisonous sour gas. “My heart goes out to them,” Anita Berger said of the people in Tomslake. “I get why they’re frustrated.” Ms. Berger lives in Tomahawk, a community about 100 kilometres southwest of Edmonton. She was part of a group that opposed the drilling of sour gas wells near the community, and in particular near the school that two of her children attend. “I’m not condoning any sort of behaviour like that,” she said of the bombings. “But I think people who have had to deal with oil companies and the regulators get to a point where they’re so frustrated . . . and don’t know what to do next. And sometimes that sort of behaviour unfortunately is looked at as an option.” Ms. Berger and her fellow opponents lost their battle, but the company ended up abandoning the plan after drilling two unsuccessful wells. Margaret Crowhurst also opposed the Alberta wells. She has some sympathy for Mr. Ludwig’s ongoing assertion that the sour gas industry doesn’t face enough scrutiny. “I think people should wake up and realize that he’s trying to point out to us what is happening to our province.” She thinks the oilpatch in general is being developed too quickly. “I think there’s too much of a rush, that it should be regulated more and that not so many wells should be drilled. There’s tomorrow as well as today. They’re hell bent to drill as much as they can while they can.”  “I cut a deal with the oil company and I said, ‘I’m not having any more wells in the area unless I’ve got an air  monitor,’ ” for protection against the sour gas flares..  http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=2433369

But when the police break the law for whatever reasons it tends to be acceptable.. the cop should have rather given the doctor a police escort to the hospital.

Problem: Civil and Public servants are depressed

Problem: Civil and Public servants are depressed
Solution :Tell the leaches  to go find a decent, honest job for a start?
.
NOW I HAVE HEARD ALL KIND OF REASONS WHY THE BAD EMPLOYEES WERE, ARE SUPPOSEDLY JUSTIFIED IN NOT DOING THEIR WORK PROPERLY BUT SOME HOW THE EXCUSES ALL APPEAR VOID WHEN COMPARED WITH THE OUTPUT OF THE GOOD WORKERS.
 .
Everyone should know by now that self worth, self esteem is a direct product of how you see yourself, or how others see you, do treat you but it is also related  directly to what you do.. which can lead to One’s depression.
 .
Now do nothing at all or do mostly bad things and you will feel guilty, you will have a low self worth.
 .
Let someone one oppress, abuse you and it can drive you next in reality  to personal insanity now as well..
 .
Recognition of the problem is a major part of the solution here.. In older adults, symptoms of depression may also include signs of dementia like memory problems and confusion, feelings of extreme irritability or anxiety, pacing and fidgeting. Depression can show itself in headaches, back or muscle aches, racing heart rates, stomach or other gastrointestinal upsets, which can be alleviated if the physical symptoms are prevented or managed with treatment. Other health conditions including heart attack, stroke, hip fractures, and macular degeneration are known to be associated with development of depression. Older women are at a greater risk for depression, and women in general are twice as likely as men to become seriously depressed. Depression is not a normal part of aging, it tends to be a consequential apsect of one’s life. Depression often is an untreated sickness.   Undiagnosed and untreated depression often has serious negative personal consequences
.
First find out if you are personally responsible for your depression
and next start doing good things instead like eating properly, stop consuming drugs, alcohol and cigarettes too, try  getting enough sleep, and managing properly your purchases, expenditures, etc. During the winter season, it’s normal to get the “blues” and to feel as if the weight of the world is closing in all around. Part of the “blues” stem from a lack of routine or exercise, little or not enough light, and less interaction with others.  Most people still do possess the ability to bounce back from the blues and start new with a fresh burst of energy.  80 percent of older adults recover from depression after receiving appropriate treatment, actions.
 .
or next  find out  if someone really is responsible for it.. and when you do know who that someone is do call the police, do loudly object, oppose all human rights abuses, do now expose that criminal to all.. stop the abuse. Shout the sin from the Housetop.
 .
Camouflaging the depression with doctors, pills will not help much in the long run.. * see note below https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/09/04/cure-for-stress-high-blood-pressure-heart-attack/
  .
Now as far as the civil and public servants they seem to be some of the biggest liars, crooks, thieves, incompetents, pretenders, human rights oppressors I encounter and of course they deserve to be depressed for it. http://postedat.wordpress.com/2010/02/18/she-was-selfish-self-absorbed-self-centered/

A recent study by the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses found that workers in 39 of 49 occupations in New Brunswick collected more in the public sector. Combining the difference in wages and benefits (including pension benefits), the advantage enjoyed by public employees was estimated to be nearly 29 per cent. Based on salary alone, the earnings gap was 14 per cent. Taxpayers are already covering the cost of generous civil service wages and benefits, including the payroll deductions invested in employee pension plans. http://telegraphjournal.canadaeast.com/opinion/article/915949

Depression among public servants Canada’s biggest ‘public health crisis’: expert   , Canwest News Service January 9, 2010 OTTAWA — Depression among Canada’s public servants is the country’s biggest “public health crisis,” says a leading mental health expert.  It’s an affliction among the country’s nurses, teachers, police, military and bureaucrats at all levels of government, undermining innovation, productivity, quality of service, policy-making and even the relevance of our democratic institutions, said Bill Wilkerson, founder of Global Business and Economic Roundtable on Mental Health. Stress, burnout and depression is evident in all workplaces, especially in times of economic turmoil. But few employers have as profound a problem as the federal public service where the health effects of mental distress has been termed an epidemic.  “The public service is a tsunami of distractions — meetings, everything questioned, delegated, people moving … and no one is really in charge,” said Wilkerson. “It’s the most transient, fluid, unsettling work environment on the planet, so why wouldn’t people be anxious and in distress? They are human beings.” Disability claims in Canada are climbing and between 30 to 40 per cent of them are for depression. In the public service, mental health claims doubled between 1991 and 2007 and now account for 45 per cent of all claims. Meanwhile, the number of other health claims has dropped. Studies of federal executives found three quarters felt on the verge of burnout or extreme fatigue. More startling was that 15 per cent of the top executives and one in four entry-level executives who felt “verbally harassed and tormented.” Executives in the private sector typically feel less stress because they have more control. Wilkerson argues an inertia and paralysis have gripped the public service that’s compounded by an “ambiguity” around who is in charge. Such an environment takes its toll on people, many whom leave work every day frustrated and feeling they have accomplished nothing. And he pins some of the blame on the cascading effect of the diminished role of Parliament, MPs, and cabinet ministers, which came with the massive centralization of power in the office of the prime minister. On top of that, partisan politics has become factious, “vicious and emotionally violent,” among MPs, all of which trickles down to the workings of the public service, he said. Prime Minister Stephen Harper put mental health on the agenda when he created the Mental Health Commission, headed by former senator Michael Kirby, to help develop a national mental health strategy. Harper spoke about its ravages and the need to break the stigma of depression and mental illness at the funeral of former MP David Batters, who committed suicide after a battle with depression.  The public service is heading into uncertain times. Speculation is rife that the public service will be the first place the Harper government turns for spending cuts when wrestling with its mounting deficit. There are rumblings of changing or cutting public servants’ generous pension and benefits plans. But Wilkerson argued the big savings will come by reforming management in the public service, which will go a long way to reducing disability claims. He said the across-the-board cuts that government’s typically resort to will only eat into the public service’s productivity “Pension reform and benefit reconstruction will not save the government money until it creates a work environment that protects mental health and the disabling effects of job stress and depressive disorder. Depression is the public health crisis in the government of Canada. Period.” http://www.canada.com/health/Depression+among+public+servants+Canada+biggest+public+health+crisis+expert/2424993/story.html

.
 Reality- Mid Life crisis, depression. This syndrome is a familiar one. BOTH MEN AND WOMEN AFTER a certain age — and it is not almost always men — do wake up one day and do realize  that they still are no longer the center of the universe THAT THEY HAD WANTED TO BECOME. IT IS DEPRESSING. Others  fail to look their way, co-workers don’t scurry to fetch them coffee and bosses stop thinking of them a long time ago as someone on the rise. Mommy’s spoiled child rather. Overly self serving, self centered, overly Ambitious. So they consider the alternatives, such as recalibrations, adjustments, or a career changes, clothing style changes,  and/or using their jobs resources even  to attain their still rather unattainable goals, or by developing a new strategy.. but mostly none of it tends to work, it merely continues their self defined fiascos, for their PERSONAL DESIRES,  goals were unrealistic to start of with. So they continue a life of vanity, hubris, malice, even violence, anger, envy, jealousy, rage as well too often, plus their still false  arrogance and conceit .  They next  still hold on to  their false notions. They have their own developed, defined strategies. And to anyone who disagrees, it’s dam-you, for you’re nothing, you’re a nobody, you’re pathetic LOSER. If we do now open our eyes we all can see it in Canada daily  over and over, everywhere too. Losers making it all worse for themselves because they naively refuse to live with the reality of who they basically are still too. Reminds me of a crooked lawyer who often had lied on his resumes and who next wanted to be a judge desperately. We do not need  any more perverse judges, we have too many of them already to start of with. This also sounds to me that our Prime Minister Stephen Harper is in a depression, facing a mid life crisis himself
 .
 The notion that the Canadian government, all of it’s civil and public servants  should be at work, dealing with all of the problems of the country, Canada,  has a lot of resonance with most of the people. Parliament for  them still provides an important mechanism of democratic accountability. Stephen Harper’s Proroguement represents a blatant attempt to subvert this avenue of promised even accountability. PM Stephen Harper and his  government seriously underestimated the strong negative reaction to the decision to prorogue, for now things appear to have backfired for the Conservatives, with a surprisingly strong public awareness and outrage over the decision to prorogue, 63.6 per cent of those polled agreed that “suspending Parliament is antidemocratic and the government had slid from 42 per cent down to 35 per cent support as the Afghan detainee issue festered related to an issue of fundamental trust, accountability, disclosure, and too many people were worried there was a cover-up going on .Harper’s prorogue decision is really aimed at shutting down all parliamentary committees, particularly the special committee which had been investigating allegations that prisoners handed over by Canadian soldiers to Afghan authorities have been routinely tortured. Harper’s  use of proroguement sets a dangerous precedent, as it is being used to shut down debate and avoid confidence votes that threaten to bring the government down. It makes MPs even less able to hold governments accountable than they already are. Clearly Harper’s  pollster or someone in the Prime Minister’s Office made a very bad call.  ” Harper is  closer now to losing his government than  to winning a majority,”   Canada’s “intelligentsia” are particularly offended at proroguement. The Web 2.0 generation, such as the over 100,000 who joined the ‘Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament’ Facebook group, clearly has become politically engaged.  And another Facebook group that grew rapidly is  the one opposing the sale of NB Power to Quebec. The  sleeping giants have been awakened and they are not about to go back to sleep.

 ..
* I am not without sympathy, understanding for elderly or troubled people who do suffer depression.. Note this  the basic vitamins found in our common foods that help also to reduce one’s personal stress and anxiety.. now next   not eating properly one becomes more stressed and anxious as a result, and manifest depression as well.. and what the classic treatment for depression is time, healing, by giving them proper nourishment, and proper rest and sleep.. in this case supplemented by proper pain killers, not improper pain killers  and likely given proper sleeping pills too.
 .
 Which also reminds a lot of the over the countered medicine does not do what it’s advertisers falsely do claim, and  also they tend to have negative side effects that they have omitted to tell us all too..
 .
“Experiencing next a panic attack has been said to be one of the most intensely frightening, upsetting and uncomfortable experiences of a person’s life.  When panic attacks occur, you might think you’re losing control, having a heart attack or even dying. A panic attack is a response of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The most common symptoms may include trembling, dyspnea (shortness of breath), heart palpitations, chest pain (or chest tightness), hot flashes, cold flashes, burning sensations (particularly in the facial or neck area), sweating, nausea, dizziness (or slight vertigo), light-headedness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), sensations of choking or smothering, and derealization. Panic attacks are distinguished from other forms of anxiety by their intensity and their sudden, episodic nature  They are often experienced in conjunction with anxiety disorders and  panic attacks are not always indicative of a mental disorder. Panic attacks were once dismissed as nerves or stress, but they’re now recognized as a real medical condition. Although panic attacks can significantly affect your quality of life, treatment — including medications, psychotherapy and relaxation techniques to help prevent or control panic attacks — is very effective. the symptoms of a panic attack appear suddenly, without any apparent cause. They may include  •racing or pounding heartbeat (palpitations);
•chest pains;
•stomach upset;
•dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea;
•difficulty breathing, a sense of feeling smothered;
•tingling or numbness in the hands;
•hot flashes or chills;
•dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions;
•terror: a sense that something unimaginably horrible is about to occur and one is powerless to prevent it;
•a need to escape;
•fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing; and
•fear of dying.
A panic attack typically lasts for several minutes, is one of the most distressing conditions that a person can experience, and its symptoms can closely mimic those of a heart attack..”

Clearly now I got really tired of being lied to and abused by much too many professional bullies, perverts that I encounter too often in life now still,  so I next started to openly, personally expose them and to make them reap real personal negative consequences rightfully here too..  Here is another simple fact of undeniable truth of life.. All of us seem to spend a lot of time trying to find our personal happiness in life, and many seem to fail at it, so we then tend to try to blame our failure here next on being the fault of others..  The problem firstly now here often starts with one’s false definition of happiness. Happiness generally, firstly is doing a job well that you like to do and so  many people are unhappy cause they are also unrealistic, and lazy.  Most persons also next do not become deliberately despots or perverts in life from birth, it is a decision they generally do on their own make later in life.. Our self-worth, self esteem is a direct result of the good things you do , have done.. do the bad things and you will have a low self worth, poor self acceptance, and it is a waste of time thus to blame it mostly on the others.

Conservative PR machines going under Good Riddance

 As predicted and fore known too the CanWest’s newspaper empire is  for sale  Canada’s largest newspaper group is on the auction block amid the biggest upheaval in the country’s media industry in years. CanWest Global Communications Corp., put most of its big-city dailies into bankruptcy protection Friday after sinking under about $3 billion of debt.  CanWest said its newspapers – including the National Post, its only daily not now under protection from creditors – are looking for new owners in hopes of wiping out some of the company’s debt while keeping the newspapers in business. Conservative  PR machines going under Good Riddance.. No tears are being shed here too..

ONE REASON  I OFTEN MAKE MY POSTS IS CAUSE THE NEWS MEDIA OFTEN LIE, SPIN, DISTORT THE TRUTH LIKE CTV, NATIONAL POST, SUN AND OTHERS.. WHAT HAPPENED TO NEWS MEDIA BEING FIRSTLY HONEST, AND HOW CAN I EXPECT THE POLITICIANS TO BE NEXT HONEST WHEN THE NEWS MEDIA too often LIE.

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/05/21/why-many-businesses-fail/

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/03/05/most-old-media-management-twits-failed-to-adjust-to-the-new-reality/

There is too little investigative effort (with the Vancouver Sun being a notable exception) and too little originality. If you want to retain readers, whether they read on their phone, a computer screen, an e-book, or messages projected onto clouds (it could happen!) they need a reason to do so. The company that buys the country’s newspapers can capitalize by being aggressively local in each market, by sharing important stories in all markets, and by making content generation job one. One might say the new media model, and new revenue potential, will come from an old idea – first serve the needs and interests of your audience. http://www.troymedia.com/?p=7134

and don’t you dare get sick and go to a Hospital you might have to find out what the doctors, nurses, hospital and Medicare are really like now too

WHY MANY BUSINESSES FAIL

bell-internet isp

We also do all know that most persons  still  tend to take an ostrich denial approach to their own faults, shortcomings still..

MANY BUSINESSES FAIL FIRSTLY BECAUSE  THEY LIE..  NEXT OF COURSE BECAUSE OF THE POOR , NEGATIVE WAY THEY SEE, DO TREAT  THE CUSTOMERS, AND THEIR EMPLOYEES AS WELL. So sooner or later they still tend to fail as a direct result, face cutbacks, downsizing, serious changes .. Karma

SECONDLY THEY USE A FALSE, POOR , NEGATIVE MANAGEMENT STYLE STILL.. DICTATORSHIP

I was really, really surprised as to how many persons lie, are being lied to in life, in churches..

A key part of the Canwest Global Communications Corp. media empire has been granted court protection from creditors. Canwest,  a CONTROL FREAK too, controls The National Post newspaper and Global Television AND many of the largest daily papers in Canadian cities, including the Edmonton, Windsor, Ottawa Citizen, the Montreal Gazette, the Vancouver Sun, the Vancouver Province, the Victoria Times-Colonist and the Calgary Herald. Ironically these are some of the most unfriendly newspapers that I also have dealt with now .. SO I AM NOT SURPRISED THEY ARE HAVING FINANCIAL PROBLEMS.

CTV Television Inc., Canwest Global Communications and the publicly funded CBC have all blamed the economic downturn, increasing competition and inroads by the Internet for cuts to staff and local programming.  Recent months have seen CTV slash the local news arms of “Canada AM,” gut staff at its A Channel stations and cancel local morning shows in Victoria, London, Ont., Barrie, Ont., and Montreal. Canwest has been grappling with a $4 billion debt and is trying to sell five E! network television stations, while the publicly funded CBC has said a $171-million shortfall is forcing it to eliminate up to 800 jobs. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090522/national/ctv_local_news

No one asked me anything about it.. I have not watched these crappy TV stations for a year now, and there is only 2 Canadian TV programs that  I have watched and one was  was “The Listener” and the other was was “The Border”..

I heard firsthand one teenager saying to another teenager  , “I cannot trust you, you lie to me all the time” and this next had made me reflect upon the reality that the average person lies 3 times in every ten minutes of conversation, and it also reminded me with my past years of undeniable dealing with Bell related to my internet download problems, they too had  lied to me all the time, by not admitting the truth first that there was a problem, nor next honestly admitting the cause of the problem. It seems that spin doctoring, misleading, lying to others is a very major part of not just the lawyers, used car salesmen, but a regular part of the sales, advertising, corporate way of doing business with consumers these days Canada wide now as well.

 “Farmers have been involved with selling local product for decades. What’s happening now is that the consumer side is catching on, “and “one of the big challenges to markets was reaching “mid-level or second-tier” consumers, who, studies showed, stayed away, in large part, because of affordability.” Also “locally grown food, in many cases, is also more costly to produce, because Canadian labour and, often, land is worth more than in Brazil or China. Above all, though, local growing conditions for most foods are less productive than elsewhere.”” the cheapest and best the best way is actually to skip the farmers’ market and eat global”. Price conscious consumers reality..

 Even the Canadian Pork  or Beef famers are also lazy and unrealistic persons ehh?  Spin doctor, lie to others , blame others all you want..  but you still will not change the reality.. the price of pork, beef  was too high in a recession, for the consumers are not stupid but price conscious.. as a good realtor knows now too, it is always better to sell more units at a lower price over selling less units  at a higher price.. but if you tell that to the lazy, unrealistic, greedy persons they will hate you.. fire you…

When a business’s profitability is severely reducing, dropping, the top  management often fails to admit the truth, the real reasons as to why,  and they also tend to falsely among many other things
– lie some more
– raise their prices to try to try to increase their profitability, making themselves more uncompetitive
– cut back on customer services, clearly making matters even worse
– resort to costly, false, misleading advertisements again
– blame their employees , and have a high employee turnover, making matters worse
– blame other facts for their own management failures,
– really do not provide a positive, competitive  service
– generally fail to replace all of the bad top executive, middle managers with good personnel

That includes Loblaw, BeLL, GM, RCMP, Metro, pastors, governments, Real Estate firms, Car dealerships, Newspapers, TV stations, HOSPITALS, Grocery Chains stores, etc.,

bad apple

Reality- When the employees tend to blame the top management solely for all the problems, generally it is too late to do so, one rotten apple has already tended next to make the whole basket rotten.. and that is often why bankruptcy, or being bought out is the only effective solution too.. that includes not only Corporations, but civil and public services, Hospitals too..

About sowing and reaping.. “Recession fallout hits BCE, Telus wireless results BCE ‘NOT IMMUNE’ TO ECONOMY “We’re not immune,” BCE Chief Executive George Cope said of the economy during a conference call with analysts. The company’s shares fell 62 Canadian cents to C$25.45.The company’s quarterly revenue edged lower to C$4.34 billion ($3.7 billion) from C$4.36 billion a year earlier. At Telus, revenue crawled higher to C$2.37 billion from C$2.35 billion.”  Reuters  –  More miss information, lying corporate spin   and what about news editors, news reporters using their own brain, research rather? doing the honest reporting?   –all 96 articles »

Bell has no one but itself to blame for it’s own  downfall,  about 40 percent of it’s own internet customers have complained about big bad Bell abusing them, lying to them, not keeping their contract agreement already. I have often told Bell  in writing that would all  happen now too on the net as well..

Bell like Loblow , Royal LePage merely reaps too what it sows.. it next fails to get repeat customers and much needed referrals as a direct result too..

THE CRTC flubs it again

Registered with the do-not-call list? Expect more calls, says consumer watchdog

 Friday, January 23, 2009 |   CBC News  Canada’s highly touted do-not-call list is having the opposite effect, leading to more telemarketer calls, says the Consumers’ Association of Canada. “It’s a travesty,” president Bruce Cran said Friday. “Here we have all these people thinking they were getting rid of incoming phone calls. Anyone who is registered should suspect their phone number is being broadcast to the four winds.” The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission launched the registry in September to great fanfare, promising that those who registered would see a drop in unwanted calls soliciting goods and service. Millions of Canadians have registered their names, home phone numbers and in some cases their cellphone numbers. The problem, said Cran, is that the CRTC sells the registry list online. “In Toronto, you can get 600,000 names for $50,” he said. Telemarketers are required to subscribe to the list, paying an annual fee that depends on how often they chose to download updates. Those who violate the list by calling registrants may be fined up to $15,000 per call.  Chilliwack, B.C., real estate consultant Jim Stocco said he suspects the “avalanche of calls” he and his wife have been fielding lately is a result of having registered with the do-not-call list.  Before registering, Stocco had managed to bring unwanted phone solicitations down to about one a week by calling back telemarketers and asking them to take his phone number off their list.  “This do-not-call registry has made things worse. We now get five or six calls a day,” he said. “We both work at home and have clients across North America so we will answer calls. It has been a major irritant.”  Stocco said when he tries to call telemarketers back to ask that his number be taken off their list, he gets a voice mailbox that does not accept messages.  Glenn Thibeault, NDP critic for consumer protection, wrote to the federal privacy commissioner Jennifer Stoddart on Jan. 16 urging her to investigate.  “When the service is not only ineffective but assists in worsening the problem, Canadians have a right to be concerned, ” he said.   A spokesperson for the commissioner said Friday that she was aware of the problem before being contacted by Thibeault. “We are concerned as well,” said Heather Ormerod. “We are in contact with the CRTC and trying to gather relevant information to see how to proceed.”

I already rightfully have a very low opinion of the too often Useless CRTC

“Unfair” players

                tal
We still do need real accountability, and the real beefing up of the enforcements, regulations against the much too many con artists liars, thieves, crooks, imposters, pretenders. being basically motivated by greed, increasing the profits. Bait and switch,  Misleading advertising, Unfair and Restrictive business trade practices seem to be a common thing in the Internet Service Providers  industry too, especially since generally the ISP are unregulated both by the Courts and the governments. It is a sad reality that even what is advertised is also next what the customer next consistently gets. ”  The first biggest unacceptable bad culprits still who need to be fired ASAP are those rather toothless, pretentious, federal and provincial consumer Ministers and their mostly bad subordinates. Healthy Competition was supposedly a good way to decrease  the prices and increase the services, but instead we get price fixings, unfair and restrictive trade practices.. which still all reminds me of the bad immoral Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper trying to murder all of the opposition  out of existence too.. for he himself is no better as a leader, example of ethics, morality too. We do need still  a new real,  tougher cop on the beat. to strengthen all business, financial regulatory agencies and crack down on runaway “greed and scheming” , to really clean up the worlds of politics , finance, business and really  help to put in help put in place new, common-sense rules of the road that will protect investors, consumers and our entire economy from fraud and manipulation by an irresponsible few caused also by a  lack of “adult supervision” and  managers not being    as aggressive as they should in properly managing subordinates, others. Conservative  and Liberal governments administration’s laissez-faire philosophy is also  allowing excessive risk and corruption at the highest echelons and also by too many people with a false disdain for regulation. We need more activist regulatory approaches,  no-nonsense regulators. Too many of these crooks are still governed by a mentality governed by the principle that, “whatever is good for me, I do.”  Behave Honourable or you will be fired, terminated message  needs to be to apply to a range of social, physical, financial, governmental  institutions — and to individuals across right across the board. A real  restoration of a sense of responsibility, personal accountability  and the notions of  advocating beneficial values not just for ourselves, but what’s good for the others, the country as a whole, operating in reality out of a sense of what is being done is for the common good , Our too often poor Regulators do unacceptably “drop the ball,” and have failed to crack down on the bad culture of greed and scheming, to take seriously their own responsibility to “operate honourably.  The CRTC also itself has not put much of a dent in fraud, abuses,  and the entire system needs an overhaul. The CRTC also has missed too many red flags in its oversight of it’s duties, responsibilities..

Clearly you cannot trust too often crooked Bell or the CRTC .  “Why is Bell allowed to control stuff that isn’t theirs? ” ” However I do have a problem with wholesalers, customers not being able to use the full speed of a network. After all, they pay for the full speed when getting it from the phone companies. They should get the full speed.”  ”  Bell’s known poor acts, actions deserve all kinds of vilification.  What a completely asinine company Bell is. I will never, ever deal with them again. Worst company I’ve ever encountered, what stupid business practices.” ” Bell’s actions too often are still motivated by a desire to undermine competition  and to  increase their customer base seems too often as well to lose more customers.. ” Bell and Rogers caused a lot of the problem themselves, with selling so called “unlimited” packages, only to find new applications use more bandwidth than they had available ot had deployed.  “  “It is not just about the price too,   Bell can be real jerks to its customers. I used to be one until I got sick of their lack of customer service, etc., and even having 2 providers Bell and Rogers/local cable providers essentially in Ontario will NOT decrease prices. Look at the current cell-phone market as an indirect example of how low competition keeps prices high. ” ” and are they Bell and the others going to put unadvertised cap on how much we could download because basically the can to meet their advertised speeds due to their bolster, too often inadequate support structures, equipment too..” Bottom line is that when it comes to telecommunications and especially high speed internet, no one can be trusted, for  the fact is that ISP   – Cable, Telco etc – on their own will not invest in faster networks and bigger coverage areas because of the costs, and the main Corporate desire not to offer a service but a false desire  to make maximum profits with a minimum of capital investment. Services will evolve but at a slower pace until competitors are forced to invest in their own infrastrucuture.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on Thursday issued a decision ordering Canada’s big phone companies, including Bell, Telus Corp., MTS Allstream Inc., SaskTel and Bell Aliant, to offer the same internet speeds to smaller wholesale customers as they themselves sell on a retail basis.” Service speed is an important competitive attribute, with rates differing significantly by speed and speed often being a major differentiation point from a marketing standpoint,” the CRTC ruled.

Under existing CRTC regulations, the big phone companies are required to rent out their networks to smaller service providers, who then sell internet access to their own customers. The rules boost the number of competitors selling internet access to the public, and thus keep prices down and service levels up. The regulations, however, have only applied to older infrastructure based in phone companies’ centralized office buildings.

Recently, phone companies have been pushing their networks out of those buildings by putting new equipment into streetside cabinets in an effort to boost their customers’ internet speeds. Smaller internet service providers haven’t had regulated access to those cabinets, however, which means they have been limited to selling slower speeds than those offered by the big phone companies.

In Quebec, for example, Bell has been selling internet connections with download speeds around 16 megabits per second while small ISPs have topped out at less than half that. The phone companies will only be required to offer faster speeds to wholesale ISPs when they sell them on a retail basis in a given area. Smaller ISPs will therefore have to request the faster connections from the phone companies. Bell, Telus and the others have 45 days to file with the CRTC the proposed rates they intend to charge the small ISPs for faster services. The rates will have to represent the actual cost of the service, plus “a reasonable mark-up,” the regulator said.

..the CRTC launched a larger inquiry into how much control large network owners such as Bell, Telus, Rogers Communications Inc. and Shaw Communications Inc., should have over the internet connections they sell to customers.” http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2008/12/12/tech-crtc.html

 “The CRTC has had a “cosy” relationship with Bell for as long as I can remember. It is obvious it continues. Short of replacing all the Commissioners with officials elected by net users this will never change. Time for a “revolution” IMO.” ” I really wonder who we have in charge of the CRTC. I would prefer a 13 year old nerd that has the slightest clue about the new hype of the Internet, ”

” Net neutrality is one of the most significant “sleeper” issues that will confront the people of Canada over the next decade. Just as we have demanded regulation for our road traffic and public utilities, we will demand fair access to our data services and even to each other.

“Indeed, it is important not to lose sight of how much has changed in the past year. In the fall of 2007, net neutrality was viewed as a fringe issue in Canada without much political traction. In the span of 12 months, there has been a major CRTC case, the Angus bill, a rally on Parliament Hill, a more vocal business community supporting net neutrality and a gradual shift of this issue into the political mainstream. ”  http://www.thestar.com/sciencetech/article/542156  http://www.neutrality.ca/

MONTREAL — The chairman of Bell Canada (TSX:BCE) and three other directors plan to step down from telecom giant’s board early next year, following the collapse of the $52 billion takeover by private equity.

Richard Currie, who was president of Loblaws parent company, George Weston Ltd., is expected to be replaced by Thomas O’Neill at the company’s next shareholders’ meeting in February.

The move was widely expected since the failure of the proposed privatization of Bell Canada by a consortium led by the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

Also exiting the board are Judith Maxwell, John McArthur and Robert Pozen.

Currie said serving as BCE chairman during the tumultuous time of change was one of the great honours of his business career.

“The specific measures to create shareholder value announced last Friday make this an opportune time for me to relinquish my board duties,” he stated.

The 71-year-old Currie was elected BCE chairman in April 2002.

O’Neill has served on several committees since joining the board in 2003. The former CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers is a director of Adecco S.A., the Bank of Nova Scotia (TSX:BNS), Loblaw Companies Ltd. (TSX:L), Nexen Inc. (TSX:NXY), and St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
