I had attended a recent comical church service, New Beginnings Ministry 9412 Rue Clement Lasalle, QC H8R1T5 Phone: (514) 363-1080., a farcical circus, not the first time now too, where Stéphane Chauvette Associate Pastor was preaching about everything, bashing everyone else, but somehow he could not keep his own promises, his own word, or stay on a specific valid subject. And he made it clear if you rock his boat he will next also kick you off the ship.. The hypocritical, pretentious fundamental right winged evangelical pastor of this New Life Beginnings in LaSalle, Quebec Preaches next openly now for us not to believe any of the news media and for us not to have anything to do with any person who drinks wine, and to stand up against all of the people who do any wrong, to even openly speak to them, ( as long as it is not the pastor himself for sure) and yet he lied and says come and talk to me your pastor after church. I am always really interested to hear from you about all of your concerns but in reality when you do try to talk to him.. for next I thus told him that our PM stephen Harper the supposedly good Christian now drinks beer/wine.. well next the pastor really got upset at me.. since he himself cannot handle negative truths, he the ostrich no good pastor refused to further talk with me and said he was tired now, he refuses to hear any of that, he refuses to believe any of that, for that is all gossip, slanders, and also we do not allow anyone who causes disturbance, problems, gives any criticism in our church, so please leave now. A Christian radio station in Red Deer Alberta , from Alberta’s once Bible belt too, wrote to me today and said they deny that Stephen Harper and his colleagues do , drinks beer, wine, alcohol, and that Harper even distributes any of it to others, cause real the Christians do not do this. Are they right or wrong about you to? Do openly tell us all. Some think you are a real Christian, are you deliberate now misleading them here too again? I am an abstainer and I do not give out any smokes, playboy or wine too at any of my events.. what about you Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Preston Manning too? I do not believe rightfully either of you are real Christians.. for many good reasons now too. Nor do many others.

It is not difficult to understand the media fuss about Christian activists helping to secure the nominations of at least eight Canadian federal Conservative candidates FOR the next election. It is no less difficult not to understand why no one opposes the election of Alcoholics, or the use of Alcohol to try to secure votes.. but they will openly oppose the election of Christian persons. The Canadian Press OTTAWA – A free “beef and beer” night at a popular hangout near Parliament Hill has drawn attention to a smorgasbord of receptions, drinks and hors d’oeuvres lobbyists serve up to MPs. The cozy rounds of free alcohol and food have reached a scale where even some MPs say it’s time to establish a public registry for the events. One lobbyist says associations representing a range of interests host three or four receptions in and around Parliament Hill every day the House of Commons is sitting. An MP says lobbyists use the tactic to organize political support for favoured policies, acquisitions or decisions cabinet ministers are contemplating – without having to register the discussions under the Lobbying Act. “In the spirit of transparency for lobbying, it would make sense that all activities would be reported,” says New Democrat MP Paul Dewar. The beef-and-beer night took place the day the Harper government unveiled its recession budget on behalf of hard-pressed Canadians. The affair became a gossip item not just for the size of the crowd, but the quality of refreshments. Everyone who was invited and walked in the door received three complimentary beer tickets and a no-limit buffet of what participants later described as “really, really good” sirloin on a bun. The hosts – the Association of Canadian Brewers and the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association – invited all 308 MPs. Government guests spotted under the dim lighting included Treasury Board President Vic Toews, in charge of the federal purse strings, and Transport Minister John Baird. Baird said later that, as convivial as the night was, he did not have even a sip or a taste since he’s a vegetarian and does not drink beer. Baird led the Conservative campaign for transparency and stiffer rules for lobbyists when he steered the Public Accountability Act through Parliament in 2006. Ministers of state in the crowd included Alberta MP Rob Merrifield and Saskatchewan MP Lynne Yelich. Ontario Tory Dean Del Maestro, parliamentary secretary for Heritage Minister James Moore, was spotted, along with a handful of Conservative backbenchers as well as opposition MPs. New Democrat MP Peter Stoffer was among those who turned out, although he says he stayed for only 10 minutes because he had to rush off for another event. He said he sees nothing wrong with the receptions, lunches and meals the lobbyists host. “If they gave me a Mercedes Benz, that I would see would be a problem,” he said, adding the events are useful to gather information. Spokesmen for the two lobby groups that put on the night at the pub D’Arcy McGee’s emphasized the social aspect of the evening. But one of them acknowledged it was a lobbying event. “It’s part of our overall outreach strategy with government, so yes,” said Andre Fortin, public affairs director for the brewers. Fortin and a spokesman for the fuels group, Robin Speer, declined to disclose the cost of the event. They both said their associations do not reveal “budgetary” details. Other recent receptions and dinners included events by the Dairy Farmers of Canada, which invited all MPs to a Chateau Laurier wine and cheese reception during an annual conference and select MPs to a dinner the following evening. Stoffer says teams of individual farmers visited MPs’ offices before the dinner to lobby on issues such as continued producer control over the supply of food. He jokingly called the teams “swat squads” – a method also used by other interest groups. The Distillers Association of Canada has launched an annual whisky “tasting” for politicians. Association president Jan Westcott says the tastings, which he says began at the suggestion of Commons Speaker Peter Milliken, are meant to inform MPs about the industry and acquaint them with Canadian spirits. “Imagine you’re talking to some politician and you’re trying to get him to represent a point of view in, let’s say, fighting with a foreign government, because we are big exporters, to open up markets for us,” Westcott said. “If he doesn’t think that product is very good himself, how effective is he going to be in carrying the case for us?” Duff Conacher, of the government ethics monitoring group Democracy Watch, says recent guides issued by ethics commissioner Mary Dawson mean the complimentary food and drinks should be out of bounds for cabinet ministers and parliamentary secretaries if they are clearly an attempt at influence. Lobbyists must register contacts with cabinet ministers, parliamentary secretaries, police aides and senior bureaucrats, but there is no requirement to register the lobbying of backbench MPs. Next let’s look at the problem with the current system. By signing up a group of people to pack a nomination meeting, the chances of nominating a candidate who the party and constituents do not want is dramatically increased.

With the current political nominating system it’s very easy to trade votes for money, booze, or favours, and it becomes about stacking meetings rather than being the “best” candidate. And during the leadership race, we saw blatant restrictions of membership forms. If you didn’t support a certain candidate ,it was impossible to get a membership form from the party, and when you were granted one, it would often take months to get it, or it would be mailed to the wrong address. Since it’s all about being on the membership list and it’s pretty easy to keep people off the membership list, abuse is practically encouraged. So why not switch to the primary system? Every Canadian could register with a party or as a non-partisan on their income tax by checking a box. Sure, you could still truck in your church members to vote so long as they’re registered to the party in question but with many more eligible voters, it would become a lot harder to take over a riding or win a nomination. With a wider range of people voting, it would presumably allow for candidates the general population prefers to be nominated. It would also become impossible to restrict membership forms, leaving leadership races more wide open and democratic… considering the bad press all parties get through nasty nomination battles and leadership races, it would be a solution everyone would benefit from. Don’t forget a recall system too.
