I was reading the many New media comments about John Baird is unexpectedly  leaving federal politics they sounded mostly like obituaries where you do not say anything bad, negative about the dead. Baird might be a rat leaving a sinking ship?

Mr. Baird, 45, is  one of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s   senior  political lieutenants  but undeniably still  Employment Minister Jason Kenney is arguably the cabinet minister with one of the biggest responsibilities on his plate right now.. Sources say the veteran politician wants to start a new career in the private sector. “The minister is looking to turn the page on 20 years of public service and like anyone in public office is looking for new opportunities,” a source close to the minister said.” Really? sounds like there is much more to it..  “After spending the past few years listening to Mr. Baird going out of his way to legitimize the banality and brutality of a 50-year-old Israeli occupation…  He should first apologize to his own citizenry, many of whom are God-loving Jews, Christians and Muslims who would never condone nor cheer for an Israeli government that stretches support to Israeli settlers who attack churches and mosques. Mr. Baird should apologize for his active encouragement of Israel’s brute and ugly occupation and its apartheid policies. He should apologize for failing to promote those things Canadians hold dear such as freedom, dignity and human rights and for replacing those ideals with an outspoken support of Israel’s clear and undisputed violations of international law. France doesn’t agree with Canada’s strong support of Israel in its conflict with the Palestinians.  In  Baird’s recent visit to Ramallah  protesters pelted his motorcade with eggs and shoes. The Palestinian protesters also held signs reading: ”Baird, you are not welcome in Palestine” and ”Baird, Jerusalem is our capital.” ”This person backs up the Zionist movement,” . ”This person diminishes the rights of our people, takes part and backs up building of settlements. OTTAWA (Reuters) – The sudden resignation of Canada’s foreign minister John Baird has revealed strains inside the ruling Conservatives and complicates their bid to extend a decade in power in elections this October… insiders said Baird had become increasingly frustrated with officials in Harper’s office, both on major issues and also over what he saw as excessive micro-management. Baird, the sources said, unsuccessfully pushed for tougher measures against Moscow last year. He was also upset that Harper’s office would not allow him to use government jets more often when on official travel. For his strong stands against countries with anti-gay laws, Baird earned the enmity of REAL Women of Canada, a socially conservative women’s group. Recently he was a false attack dog, for  prime minister Stephen Harper’s  pit-bull  in his  speaking his  nonsense against the Russian Takeover of  Crimea, the supposed Russia’s incursions into Ukraine, and was openly critical of the United Nations because it did not support  Israel.

John Baird  joined the Canadian government’s condemnation of the  “barbaric” attack on the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine that left a dozen people dead. Canada stands united with France against acts of terrorism.  “We want to condemn in the strongest terms, this barbaric act. To see 12 people, including two or three law enforcement officials killed in downtown Paris is just horrific,” he said. “I immediately placed a call to my counterpart, to say that we stand in solidarity with the French people at this time.”

Baird has recently  been working to secure the release of an accused terrorist  Egyptian-Canadian Al-Jazeera journalist  Mohamed Fahmy from a Cairo, Egypt  prison. Fahmy, who was arrested in 2013 and has been in jail since was sentenced to at least seven years in prison on terrorism-related charges last year in a trial. He was  over their coverage of the violent crackdown on Islamist protests following the military overthrow of President Mohammed Morsi in 2013. Egyptian authorities accused him of providing a platform for Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood, now declared a terrorist organization.  The family of Mohamed Fahmy has confirmed that the Egyptian-Canadian journalist has given up his Egyptian citizenship in the hope that it will get him released from a Cairo prison. People with dual  citizens are basically non Canadians anyway. Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has said  he is hopeful Fahmy will be released from jail soon? but gave no specific timing. He believed that Mr Fahmy, the news channel’s Cairo chief who recently gave up Egyptian citizenship, would be deported like his Australian colleague Peter Greste. But a retrial has thrown that into question. John Baird failed here too..

There is difference between free speech, inappropriate speech, hate speech and censorship, unlawful use of authority, as we all can tend to know the Cops, Politicians, Pastors, Crooks, Muslims, Jews, Hindus etc. tend  too  like to censor falsely any speech that is negative about their acts, behavior, lies. Yes many persons falsely seek to demonize those with whom they disagree.

Now there is no such thing as free speech in the sense of unlimited speech.  Free speech is simply a useful term to focus the  attention on a particular form of appropriate  human interaction and the phrase is not meant to suggest that all speech should never be interfered with appropriately.

Still we have no fundamental human right not to be offended in public discourse .  The laws did not protect the dignity of the white supremacist deeply offended by the message of racial equality and de-segregation advocated by the civil rights movement in 1960s or the  Jews being exposed for abusing the  Palestinians, or Muslims falsely  forcing their faith falsely on others.

Freedom of speech and the right to be heard as well should be the rights of all of the citizens;  on the other hand, this freedom nor it; suppression  is not an absolute as  some persons falsely think that it is.  Some forms of speech are rightfully  thoroughly to be outlawed  such as lying, fraudulent advertising, child pornography, obscenity, fighting words, slander, help-wanted ads that discriminate on the basis of race, words used in a criminal transaction, unlicensed broadcasts, libel, speech that infringes a copyright, and unauthorized disclosure of some data .   Governments may regulate, or censor speech if it  a viable public concern, or threatens national safety.

Dealing with supposedly Hate speech alone  are ineffective; they simply do not work, as the  simultaneously do not address the central motives that drive hate speech. More valid action is required here. Some advocates of more hate speech codes, due to the reality the emotional pains that some  speech sometimes causes, are willing to risk denying citizens of rights in order to spare the objective individuals from psychological discomfort . Neglects the basic reason  that the specific  minority groups and those wanting hate speech codes ultimately hope to gain: a false  actual “change in public opinion”, not a “change of heart” in which individuals forcefully  suppress,  give up their rightful views. This is still a false denial of  someone’s rights to speak and to be hard. It doesn’t matter what sensitivities were hurt. It doesn’t matter what deity, religion, or prophet was lampooned. No one has the right to take someone else’s life just because their feelings were hurt.

There has been and will always be differences between people. The solution to cutting remarks and emotionally charged communication is not to merely limit the thoughts and opinions a person can express. A person should be allowed express their opinions in a non-violent matter. If a person acts unlawfully also  in doing so, that person should be punished, using existing generic codes, because of his/her literal actions, not thoughts or opinions. At the same time, minority groups can  use that same freedom of speech to peaceably educate the  others, the public and work on the root of the problem, and in doing so effect a voluntary change in public opinion.

There is inappropriate speech..   The Islamic massacre at the offices of Charlie Hebdo was, of course, an attack on free speech. It has inspired worldwide support for freedom of speech.   In the aftermath of what happened at the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris there were a limited, but noticeable, number of political comments bordering on defending  the murders. The comments didn’t go as far as saying the people deserved to be killed but people tried to excuse what happened. Including some Catholic leaders. Their comments were  inappropriate speech. ” I’m not really sure what more evidence they need. Muslims attacked and killed people working for a satirical newspaper well known for lampooning Muhammad and Islam (as well as other religions and religious figures). The gunmen were Muslims. They were heard shouting “We have avenged the Prophet Muhammad” and “God is Great” in Arabic (“Allahu Akbar”). This was a religion inspired attack by religious people for religious reasons. Sharia calls for death for Blasphemy. The gunmen, despite having no authority to do so, were enforcing this law. A religion was insulted. A religion was defended by religious people and it was done with murderous consequences.” To suggest Islam had nothing to do with it is the height of either stupidity, naivete or immorality. Clearly the Sharia law needs to be banned, prohibited as well..  There *is* an issue within Islam and that issue is that Sharia law says that blasphemy is punishable by death. all persons  need to put pressure on Islamic leaders to renounce this law and demand that the Islamic leaders declare that Islam also *is* open to criticism and satire. According to the data from an American survey published here…

The more these people accept that Islam is not above criticism, they more they accept that blasphemy is *not* punishable, and the more vocal they are about that to their community leaders, the less likely it is that people will be killed for drawing cartoons.

NOW Israel has announced plans to build 1,500 new settlement homes in East Jerusalem, the part of the city occupied by Israel in 1967 but claimed by Palestinians. Chiefs representing First Nations from the Island Lake area of northern Manitoba held a press conference Thursday to lament Ottawa’s response to immediate, short-term help while they discuss how to hook the communities up with running water and proper sewage in the long term.
“They agreed to help us with short-term solutions. Their solutions are slop pails and 45-gallon drums. That’s not acceptable,” said Chief Dino Flett, of the Garden Hill First Nation. “In some houses, 15 people have to use that slop pail. That’s not safe. That’s not healthy.”
Chiefs from the Island Lake area bands met with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada last December to discuss ways of addressing the lack of water and sewage infrastructure in their remote communities.
Among the chiefs’ immediate, short-term solutions were plans for porta-potty style biffies with holding tanks that could be emptied, or alternatively centralized, communal washrooms, showers and laundry facilities.
What INAC sent was 999 slop pails — five-gallon pails that are meant to be makeshift indoor toilets — as well as about 800 water barrels, and a water and sewage truck for each community, although with no permanent provision for maintenance, operating costs or fuel for the trucks.

Certainly the   Canada immigration system, it’s supervisors too just like the justice system, Medicare, the civil and public servants all do desperately needs a major shakeup and updated with decent, moral, good persons too the last 40 years. The useless pretentious Conservatives  that have promised to update the related justice. accountability, transparency … seem to make matters worse in reality by doing a very small, partial adjustment only.     Why does it take a half a century to fix the systems that  many of us rightfully already do know needs major repairs.  Major inadequacies, problems here now have been happening for decades. Demand a fix to the Canadian immigration laws too and all the bad related personnel!! “So we have a government-approved loop hole to let dishonest people into the country and ensures we keep them here. Three cheers for our bad Canadian Immigration!! A ministry that never fails to disappoint.”  Now what is needed is an expeditious way to deal with people that come here under false pretences. A bus driver has been charged with two traffic violations in relation to a fatal collision in Saskatoon where a 10-year-old boy died, police say.The boy, Erik Herlen, was attempting to cross the street around 8:30 a.m. CST Nov. 2, 2010, when he was hit by a yellow bus that was transporting workers.According to police, the bus was going south on Valens Drive and had turned onto 33rd Street West.Police announced Thursday that the driver, a 59-year-old man, was charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to yield to a pedestrian. Wow! A judge disagrees with the RCMP’s own findings

           

A Saanich, B.C., police officer was “grossly negligent” in the shooting death of a Victoria man, a B.C. Supreme Court judge has ruled in awarding the man’s family $354,000 in damages.

Saanich Const. Kristopher Dukeshire shot Majencio Camaso, 33, three times as he charged at the officer carrying a steel pipe and crowbar in July 2004.

Dukeshire had arrived at the man’s home in the community near Victoria in response to a 911 call from his wife, Theresa Camaso, who told police that her mentally ill husband had threatened to set their apartment on fire.

An external RCMP investigation of the shooting found the use of force reasonable and no criminal charges were laid against Dukeshire.

Theresa Camaso launched a lawsuit against the three Saanich police officers who had responded to her 911 call, former police chief Derek Egan, the District of Saanich and a paramedic at the scene.

Justice Grant Burnyeat disagreed with the conclusions of the RCMP probe, writing in his ruling that, “Dukeshire breached the duty of care owed to Mr. Camaso when he did not use the least amount of force necessary to carry out his duties.”
