The way normal Governmental business is supposedly being carried out in Canada

Predictably too now  since neither main parties tend to still look after the real good welfare of all Canadians but tend still to mainly look after their own good welfare mostly.. OTTAWA – Canadians are looking more favourably at the NDP as they become increasingly disenchanted with the two main political parties, a new poll suggests. The Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey indicates support for Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservatives slipped to 29 per cent amid the furor over the Guergis-Jaffer affair. That’s the first time in a year that the governing party has dipped below the 30 per cent threshold. But the beneficiary this time was not the Liberals — who usually gain when Tories lose ground and vice versa. Indeed, the Liberals were stalled at 27 per cent. Rather, it was the New Democrats who rose three points to 20 per cent — a level of support the party hasn’t enjoyed since shortly after the last election in October 2008. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100426/national/poll_tories

Too many persons are complaining even on the net that there seems to be Abundance of Liars, Imposters, Pretenders in our governments, civil and public services too.. and thus it is no wonder no federal political party can even expect to have a majority.. even because of the too many really bad justice ministers.. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/04/09/canadas-too-often-bad-justice-ministers/

I really do love now all my wordpress blogs for they not only do  they allow me to exercise my own right of free speech, and allow my right to be heard by others too now!  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/02/04/our-politicians-file-excessive-and-unreasonable-claims-canada-wide-now-too/

So the  Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s partner on the project is Canada’s International Development Research Centre, a federally funded agency whose chairman is former Tory external affairs minister Barbara McDougall. When the Gates group now found out that Ms. McDougall was until last month on the board of directors of Imperial Tobacco Canada Ltd., it promptly pulled the remaining funds from its initial $5.2-million (U.S.) grant. The foundation said in a statement that it is “deeply disappointed” that Ms. McDougall held both roles, and “this conflict is unacceptable as we work to support meaningful tobacco control programs in Africa.” Barbara McDougall another Coinservative Con job and one of PM Stephen Harper’s own job appointees too.

The way normal business is supposedly being carried on also by by the Liberals in Quebec, is no wonder my local Liberal MLA and the others too never write  back to me or acknowledge  any of my serious, critical, important letters  to them still. So what I  too do now have to first give a large donation to the Liberal party before my MLA will next consider reading any of my complaints?  It sure seems so!!!

MONTREAL – A former Quebec justice minister has levelled a stream of bombshell allegations against Premier Jean Charest’s government, accusing it of serious ethics violations. Marc Bellemare says the Liberal premier was well aware of them.  Bellemare suggested the governing Liberals routinely flouted fundraising laws and also took orders from party bagmen on whom to appoint as judges.  He says he was pressured, on three occasions, to name a judge requested by influential donors. Bellemare also says stacks of cash were forked over by construction company bosses and funnelled into party coffers.  In the interview, Bellemare never used the word ‘illegal’ to describe the practices, preferring to describe them as ‘irregular.’ But Quebec’s landmark fundraising law, introduced by Rene Levesque’s Parti Quebecois government in the 1970s, forbids donations over $3,000.  Bellemare says he warned the premier after witnessing those big cash transactions – and says he was ignored.  He says he also confronted the premier twice – in the fall of 2003 and the spring of 2004 – when pressured by influential financiers to make appointments, including judgeships.  “I asked, ‘Who names judges? The justice minister – or this guy and that guy who’d raised lots of money,”‘ Bellemare said in the interview.  He says he ultimately wound up naming those judges.  “Because it was an order by the big moneymen of the party – and the premier was in agreement with it,” he said.  “I complained to the premier. But that, apparently, was the way things went.”

In yet another allegation, Bellemare says even the government’s legislative agenda was shaped by its fundraisers. He says certain bills were killed at their request.  Bellemare says influential moneymen “expected payback” for all the cash they pumped into the Liberal party. The premier’s popularity has plummeted spectacularly in recent months, partly due to allegations of ethics violations.

An unpopular budget loaded with tax hikes compounded those problems, with tens of thousands of protesters now regularly taking to the streets. Two newspapers had front-page pictures Monday of protesters holding up signs saying, “Damned liar.”  One poll listed dissatisfaction with the Charest government at a whopping 77 per cent. Just a few months ago, Charest was seemingly on cruise control, basking in the height of his popularity and frequently being cited as a possible future prime minister of Canada. That was before the first controversies broke. The troubles began with a scandal about Mafia involvement in the construction industry, and that industry’s influence over political fundraising at the Montreal municipal level. Radio-Canada reported that construction companies colluded to jack up the cost of public works contracts, shared their profits with the Mob, and intimidated rivals. Word that those same construction companies had helped raise money for political parties rocked Montreal’s mayoral race last fall. But Charest steadfastly refused demands for a public inquiry, when almost every major player in the province was asking for one.

Bellemare left politics only one year after the Charest Liberals were first elected. He says his abrupt exit stemmed from those ethics violations. “It disgusted me – and that’s why I left in the spring of 2004.” As for rampant rumours that construction bosses illegally pumped cash into Liberal party coffers, Bellemare says the allegations are true. The premier shouldn’t feign surprise today at word of fundraising irregularities, Bellemare said. “I can tell you he (Charest) was very well informed.”  http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100412/national/charest_scandal

Even  Ignatieff flip-flops on health-care user fees amid Liberal grassroots revolt The  brewing liberal young people grassroots revolt prompted an abrupt about-face from Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff on Quebec’s proposal to impose health-care user fees. After first declaring Quebec’s plan legal, Ignatieff has reaffirmed the long-standing Liberal position that user fees are a violation of the Canada Health Act. “I want to make it very clear that our party, and I personally, am a passionate defender of the Canada Health Act,”  “If the government of any province were to introduce user fees, it is our belief that that would be in contravention to the Canada Health Act and we would oppose it.” Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff. The act now  something of a sacred cow for Liberals since it was introduced by the Trudeau government in 1984 does explicitly prohibits user fees and empowers the federal government to financially penalize provinces that impose them. Ignatieff’s about face comments were in stark contrast to the initial thumbs up the Liberal leader appeared to give Quebec’s plan to charge $25 for each visit to a doctor’s office.  His response  infuriated many rank and file Liberals . Samuel Lavoie, president of the Young Liberals, fired off a letter to party president Alf Apps, expressing his “shock” and “disappointment” over the leader’s embrace of the “obscene” user fee proposal.and he said that    the proposed fee amounts to an “utterly immoral” tax on disease. He said it would unfairly penalize the poor and chronically ill and potentially risk the lives of those who put off seeing a doctor to avoid paying the fee.  Moreover, Lavoie noted that support for Premier Jean Charest’s government has nose-dived since the budget was unveiled. He questioned why the federal Liberal party would want to embrace “the most unpopular measure of a very unpopular budget,”   Lavoie spearheaded a motion, approved unanimously Tuesday by the Young Liberals’ national executive, urging the party to “vigorously oppose health care user fees and any other actions which violate the law, purpose and spirit of the Canada Health Act.” The same motion was adopted Tuesday night by the executive of the British Columbia wing of the party and various other party groups were considering following suit.  http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5jOJpStNCtxlE-6xwcTZzmaSs0Kzw

Isn’t nice that according to the Canadian Charter of rights I too now can write to absolutely now any one I want to  still, all news editors, all politicians too,  and that if they  do not want to read my emails they  can just delete them too.. or they  can first take their  email of the net and stop requesting people to write to them. I would have thought that they too  knew that by now too.. funny.. What do any of them still think they or you are the only one who can tell, write and post the truths even on the net still? and the rest of us cannot?  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2008/07/07/control-freaks

It seems you cannot trust the federal or the provincial, municipal  governments in Canada still..  do  we all do these days too do keep on getting media revelations of abuses, corruptions, lies etc.. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/02/11/toronto-councillor-adam-giambrone-lies/

I do also  have to say I was amazed so readily myself. How in my last few decades of Canadian experiences how quickly the too apparent crooks it seems are the first ones who threaten to or do  sue, even how they do try to shut up the truth from the public exposure, a subject that I  have often written about..

Free speech is still only mostly available to the BIG crooks or the the people with loads of money, influential  friends, or the persons who hold a political office  it seems, and for the cops as well.. and by the way for all the liars as well it seems..

Our governments and the courts clearly are firstly very slow to enforce prosecutions of the really clearly bad persons such as the bad cops, bad civil and public servants, too many tax evaders, thieves, tax payer’s money abusers    and undeniably as well but what the very apparent crooks can too readily sue the others.. ..  falsely can attempt to suppress, obstruct  justice from being carried out?

And there are  still too many for my liking in Canada  crooked professionals such as even crooked realtors, bad Real estate firms, bad Accountants, bad lawyers, bad Pastors and priests now too, bad cops, bad medical workers, bad civil and public servants, too many tax evaders, even too many  bad telecommunication, internet firms guilty of false, misleading advertising and customer abuses too such as Bell..

When the bad guys generally in a state of denial, shock at the public exposure of their wrong doings cannot face the truth now they next do try to resort to false suppression, false personal attacks on the author, put unnatural pressure on persons around him and so forth, all showing still their own incomplete repentance, and their false reactions.  Police falsely still like to investigate first their accusers, and/or delete their blogs.. RCMP included.

Free speech too often is a right mainly for the rich, the bad guys, crooks, not the decent folks. I also do I know that bad guys and gals such as the crooked cops, crooked pastors, crooked politicians,  crooked anyone do not like me to use my right of free speech.. too bad for them.. Clearly just  because some thing someone writes offends someone else does not mean firstly that it is even “hate”, immediately prosecutable by law, the courts or the Human Rights Commission. There is still a separation between appropriate speech and inappropriate speech, a separation between freedom of speech, expressing one’s views, opinions and the delivered, deliberate conscious propagation of hatred towards a specific group or person.  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2008/06/15/bullies-free-speech/

Mon May 3, 7:57 PM CALGARY (CBC) – An appointee to an Alberta advisory committee on health has stepped down following revelations she is a registered lobbyist for drug company, Eli Lilly.  On April 29, the province announced the start of consultation on the province’s new Alberta Health Act and named the nine advisory committee members who would assist the chairman, Fred Horne, a Edmonton Progressive Conservative MLA. In the news release, Patricia Bayne was identified as a “community member” but did not disclose that she is the senior manager for policy and government affairs with Eli Lilly. Last Thursday, the Alberta NDP announced it had also found Bayne’s name on the province’s lobbyist website. On Monday, the party took credit for forcing her to resign. Mason called the government “deceptive” for not disclosing Bayne’s affiliation and said her inclusion was part of a push to privatize the province’s health care system. Bayne was also a member of the Minister’s Advisory Committee on Health last fall. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/cbc/100503/canada/canada_edmonton_edmonton_ndp_advisory_committee_resign

Poor people and the unemploynment rate in Alberta

What happened in Alberta is no surprise to the honest, decent folks. Socialists elected in Canada’s oil patch.    A study says shrinking budgets in the oil and gas industry could lead to as many as 185,000 direct and indirect job losses this year in Canada.  In the one horse province  Alberta would be the hardest hit .  Loonie plunges as oil’s slide continues; One-in-four oil, gas jobs could be lost in 2015 but for decades the Politicians did not plan ahead for the rainy days..  Bleak numbers showing that Canada’s economy shrank in the first three months of 2015 have already created a torrent of downgraded economic projections on how the rest of the year will unfold.

Alberta unemployment rate highest in 14 years CBC – Sat Apr 10, 7:03 PM EDMONTON (CBC) – Alberta’s unemployment rate ( falsely adjusted too – it is a lot higher now for the true rate would have  included all people out of work, those who had as a result left the province, and those persons now on social aid too) rose to 7.5 per cent in March, the highest level since 1996, according to figures released Friday by Statistics Canada. The rate climbed 0.6 percentage points from February. The federal agency attributed the increase to a higher number of people entering the work force an increase of 9,700 in Alberta. “The main reason for what we’re seeing is the fact that we are still not fully recovered from recession,” said Thomas Lukaszuk, Alberta’s minister of employment and immigration.

System failing city’s poor, critics say The Ottawa Sun – Sat Apr 10, 9:04 PM  For those fighting poverty in the city, the outlook is bleak.  Fractured families, unemployment, minimum-wage jobs and a tide of immigrants lacking language skills threaten to further inflate the already staggering numbers of people wrestling with the question of whether to buy food or pay rent. Single parents  83% of them women  now lead one in every four families in Ottawa. Because they rely on a single income, these families tend to earn the least and experience higher levels of poverty than two-parent families. Worse, many working women with children have jobs that are precarious, with irregular or part-time hours, lower wages and limited benefits. A recent report from the Social Planning Council of Ottawa illustrates a disturbing trend. Households and Families in Ottawa — which is based on 2006 census data  warns of increasing child poverty and immigrant unemployment that could continue for generations to come. In 2006, 32,853 children under 18 in Ottawa lived below the poverty line.  “That was in 2006 and before the recent economic crisis hit,” said poverty council research director Clara Jimeno. “And immigrant women with children younger than six had an unemployment rate of 30% before the recession as well.”  The Overbrook-Forbes Community Resource Centre is one of the organizations that stands on the front lines in the war on poverty, with 14 branches servicing low-income communities across the city. Anti-poverty community co-ordinator Dominique Paris-MacKay said the situation has become dire.  “The gap between the rich and poor is growing, and that’s because the poor are getting poorer. Food banks don’t have enough food and the fact we have them at all is a failure of our system.”
These 2 items were, are related
Alberta and it’s past premier were  known for it’s despisements  of all of the  poor people, those persons on social aid.. so it is not surprisingly they have to also now next walk in the footstep of the poor so next time that can manifest now more real, valid  compassion

The rest of Canada would take heed to this too less they also experience the same thing.. “Poverty is not a choice that people make and it can happen to anybody. One economic downturn can turn someone who was stable to someone who’s homeless.”

Good news the oppressive bad cops in Alberta are  likely to face more lay offs.. Imagine this job creation absurdity, one third of the annual Calgary city hall budget is used to support the police services.. fire 85 percent of them for they are too often slackers, pretenders anyway

(Rom 12:3 KJV)  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

(Prov 20:26 KJV)  A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

(Prov 28:15 KJV)  As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

The popularity of Robin Hood even centuries later personifies some great simple truths about what bad rulers do and do not do.. at both the federal and provincial levels. A good ruler runs the wheel over the wicked persons, even bad cops, those who abuse their offices, who live high on the hog too,  but also does  care  about the welfare of all the persons, the poor included.. Interesting that not only the Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper but now also the Liberal premier of three Provinces BC, Quebec and Ontario, and the Conservative Premier of Alberta  clearly are unpopular these days with the citizens cause they fall short in this areas

(Job 15:31 KJV)  Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompense.

Canada’s too often bad Justice Ministers

Tell the too often rather lying spin doctors, Conservatives, Liberals, all of  the Justice ministers and special prosecutors that they do  need to avoid all appearance of evil, not just evil itself still.

Over and over again and one too many of Canada’s Justice ministers have been forced to resign from their offices, likley cause they were really bad cops and bad  lawyers now too..

NB justice minister resigns over privacy issue CBC.ca  Justice Minsiter Bernard LeBlanc resigned Thursday after being accused of violating the privacy rights of a Fredericton-area woman. There have in the last few months been too many other NB cabinet Minister’s resignations now as well.. LeBlanc is the fourth minister to step down in the last seven months.  Former justice minister Michael Murphy and former environment minister T.J. Burke have also left the Liberal cabinet.

It is sad that too many lawyers hoping to become judges next do now  make political contributions to the party in power too… and it seems to work?

Election financing allegations force B.C.’s top cop to quit cabinet The Canadian Press –  VANCOUVER, B.C. – British Columbia’s top cop has found himself on the other side of the criminal justice system, facing an RCMP investigation that has forced him to resign from his post as solicitor general. Kash Heed, a former police chief and star Liberal candidate in the May 2009 vote, announced his resignation Friday, citing allegations that his campaign office violated advertising and finance rules in the Elections Act. RCMP confirmed a commercial crimes unit investigation and the criminal justice branch announced a special prosecutor has been appointed to oversee the case. Heed said he has no idea what allegations prompted investigation, but he was adamant that, whatever they are, he had nothing to do with it.”I am absolutely confident that I’ve done nothing wrong, that’s why I’m going to fully co-operate with the RCMP and it is that reason that I’m stepping aside to maintain the integrity of this office and to maintain my integrity,” he said at a hastily called news conference at his constituency office in Vancouver on Friday afternoon.”I have no idea what this is about, but I can tell you again, I have done nothing wrong.” Neither Heed nor the RCMP are revealing many details.Heed said he first learned about the probe at the end of March, from RCMP. But he said they originally told him he was not being investigated. That changed earlier this week when he said he was told the RCMP were now looking into whether he had any role in the allegations, and on Wednesday he learned a special prosecutor had been appointed to the case.In fact, Terrence L. Robertson was appointed special prosecutor in January, and the RCMP started their investigation within weeks of last May’s election, which returned the Liberals to power for a third term.Insp. Tim Shields said the investigation was prompted by a complaint to the province’s chief electoral officer, who forwarded the allegation to RCMP last June.Shields said a report to Crown counsel will be complete by June, noting a one-year statue of limitations on Election Act violations.”The allegations are concerning the campaign office of Minister Kash Heed, and although there’s more than one person who can potentially be involved, we’re not going to be naming names,” Shields told reporters.”It’s a very sensitive investigation, and the priority of police is to get to the truth and discover the facts.”Shields said several people from Heed’s campaign office are under investigation, but declined to elaborate.

Heed is the third Liberal solicitor general forced to resign amid allegations of wrongdoing in the past two years.

John Les resigned from the post in March 2008 after it was revealed he was part of an RCMP investigation that alleged he improperly benefited from land deals while he was serving as mayor of Chilliwack.

And John van Dongen resigned as solicitor general in April 2009 after it was revealed he lost his driver’s licence for numerous speeding tickets. He was serving as Superintendent of Motor Vehicles at the time.

Attorney General Mike de Jong will fill the position for now, although Heed said he plans to return to his cabinet post once his name is cleared. He will continue to represent his riding in the meantime.

Heed’s profile rose while he was an RCMP district commander with a view to reducing property crime in south Vancouver. He spearheaded the creation of the gang violence task force, and is credited with reducing gang-related violence by more than 40 per cent, according to his website. He became chief of the West Vancouver Police in 2007.But since announcing his entry into political life last year, Heed has been dogged by a defamation suit filed by a former West Vancouver officer.Heed has spent his time in cabinet championing increased accountability for the RCMP, demanding the force change the way it investigate itself or risk losing its contract for provincial policing in B.C.Jane Thornthwaite acknowledged in February she made a mistake after she was stopped by police for drunk driving.

Mon May 3, 8:29 PM  By The Canadian Press VANCOUVER – Former solicitor general Kash Heed took a giant step towards returning to the B.C. cabinet Monday after being cleared of wrongdoing in an investigation that resulted in numerous Criminal Code charges and Election Act violations against three of his former campaign workers. Heed, insisting he did nothing wrong, hinted broadly he would like to get back to his cabinet duties. He resigned last month after announcing he was part of an RCMP investigation involving irregularities dating back to the May 2009 B.C. election. Heed, a former West Vancouver police chief and a first-time candidate who was personally recruited by Premier Gordon Campbell, won the Vancouver-Fraserview riding and was appointed to cabinet heading the law-and-order posts of Public Safety and Solicitor General. “It’s up to the premier to decide what he wants to do,” said Heed. “I’m serving the people of the province of British Columbia.” The charges are related to election pamphlets distributed during the provincial election last spring, as well as an election financing report filed on Heed’s behalf. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100503/national/solicitor_general_resigns_charges

Tue May 4, 8:38 PM  VANCOUVER (CBC) – The special prosecutor who cleared newly reinstated solicitor general Kash Heed of wrongdoing has resigned. Terrence Robertson quit the job on Tuesday, saying his law firm, Harper Grey LLP, donated $1,000 to Heed’s political campaign. The news came just hours after B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell announced Heed had been reinstated as solicitor general. On Monday, it was announced that Robertson’s investigation into Heed’s 2009 election campaign cleared Heed of any wrongdoing. Heed had stepped down from office in April when it was revealed the RCMP was conducting an investigation into his campaign in the Vancouver-Fraserview riding. The investigation was related to an unregistered election campaign brochure, which accused the NDP of planning to legalize heroin and cocaine and said the party would consider instituting an inheritance tax. Two of Heed’s campaign workers were charged with a variety of offences, but it was determined Heed had no prior knowledge of the pamphlets. In a letter outlining the reasons for his resignation, Robertson said he was aware of the contribution before taking on the investigation, but said he “did not believe that it was a conflict of interest” that would preclude him from acting as special prosecutor. Robertson said that upon further reflection, he has concluded that continuing as special prosecutor would provoke “comment from the public and the media” as to whether he is sufficiently independent.  … Speaking at a news conference Tuesday evening, the newly reinstated Heed indicated he would retain his post as solicitor general. Heed said he has done nothing wrong. “It was reviewed by an independent special prosecutor. The findings exonerated me and I’m living by that right now and we are ready to move forward.” Heed said he has never met Robertson or had any dealings with his law firm.  Attorney General Mike de Jong told reporters he was disappointed by Robertson’s resignation. “It’s frustrating, you know? I’m angry,” he said. “We have an independent process that everyone relies upon the public relies on it, the government relies upon it, and then something like this happens.” De Jong said a new prosecutor would be appointed in the case. Meanwhile, New Democrat MLA Mike Farnworth said he was shocked when he heard the news. “I was speechless, I was stunned and at first I thought, ‘This is a joke.'”Farnworth said both Heed’s exoneration and the criminal charges laid against his campaign workers are “tainted.” “As far as I’m concerned, the premier has no choice but to reverse his decision and Mr. Heed must be out of cabinet immediately … [Heed] has no credibility staying on as solicitor general,” he said. “The fact of the matter is that the special prosecutor who exonerated him is a donor to the B.C. Liberal Party and the idea that that was not disclosed at the beginning or that somehow that could not be seen as a conflict I find unbelievable.” Farnworth is calling for a complete review of the investigation. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/cbc/100504/canada/canada_britishcolumbia_bc_heed_special_prosecutor_resigns

and the mad BC Liberal, justice circus of improprieties goes on and one.. Anyone who is honest doubts the finding when he finds out this overall was not a   independent review basically, but a Liberal one.. Can  we really thus trust this government to top produce any  kind of decent justice?

So here is the obvious.. we need now 2 independent investigators to investigate the original independent investigator now as well  and to find out how long did he know that his firm supported the Liberals and that they had donated the money to the Liberals as well? before he was appointed too? Is anyone there honest, not crooked now too?

B.C. solicitor general steps down… again The Canadian Press – Thu May 6, 12:45 AM   VICTORIA – The circus is back in town in British Columbia with the star attraction being former solicitor general Kash Heed performing a manoeuvre of high difficulty, the triple political flip flop. In less than a month, the former West Vancouver police chief and star Liberal recruit resigned his cabinet post, was briefly reinstated, only to quit again the next day. Heed, on the backbenches Wednesday after less than a day back in cabinet, said he felt jubilation when Premier Gordon Campbell reinstated him after a police investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing in the scandal that resulted in charges against three of his campaign officials. But the triumph sank to desperation after the man that cleared him, independent special prosecutor Terrence Robertson, quit the case after acknowledging he himself may have the appearance of a conflict of interest because his law firm donated $1,000 to Heed’s campaign.

VANCOUVER – They’re supposed to be the buffer between government and any appearance of conflict of interest. But when the special prosecutor who cleared British Columbia’s solicitor general of election wrongdoing stepped down this week, he did just the opposite. Terrance Robertson resigned and revealed that his law firm had donated to Heed’s campaign. Yet the names of at least 15 of the 35 lawyers on the list of potential special prosecutors or their firms are also on Liberal party donation lists. This includes lawyers involved in some of the province’s most high-profile cases, including the legislature raid case and a lawyer who has been appointed to argue against Canada’s polygamy laws.  The revelations give at least the appearance of conflict of interest and fuel distrust among the public, legal observers say. Stephen Owen, a former provincial ombudsman and former deputy attorney general who was involved in setting up B.C.’s special prosecutor system in the early 1990s, said the controversy highlights the need for more vigilant vetting.  In the Heed case, Owen said the province should appoint a new special prosecutor to start the process from the beginning, rather than simply picking up where Robertson left off.  “They need to appoint another special prosecutor . . . to redo the whole investigation to see if charges should be laid, including against Mr. Heed,” said Owen, who now works for the University of British Columbia. “The public should have full confidence that there are no such conflicts. And it’s only fair to Mr. Heed, because there will be a cloud over the fact that he wasn’t charged.” http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100506/national/special_prosecutors_conflict

Old news RCMP still boozing and driving too..

Alcohol is more dangerous than illegal drugs like heroin and crack cocaine, according to a new study.Heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, or crystal meth, were the most lethal to individuals. When considering their wider social effects, alcohol, heroin and crack cocaine were the deadliest. But overall, alcohol outranked all other substances, followed by heroin and crack cocaine. Experts said alcohol scored so high because it is so widely used and has devastating consequences not only for drinkers but for those around them. When drunk in excess, alcohol damages nearly all organ systems. It is also connected to higher death rates and is involved in a greater percentage of crime than most other drugs, including heroin. All governments should consider more education programs and raising the price of alcohol so it isn’t as widely available.    “What governments decide is illegal is not always based on science,”  for monetary considerations about revenue and taxation, like those garnered from the alcohol and tobacco industries, may influence decisions about which substances to regulate or outlaw. “Drugs that are legal cause at least as much damage, if not more, than drugs that are illicit,”   http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/101031/health/health_eu_med_dangerous_alcohol
Provincial Governments, cops too  do not want to reduce gambling or alcohol consumption for it is a great money maker for them, and too many Canadian politicians and cops do like to booze..

Kamloops Mountie faces impaired charges CBC – Tue Apr 6, 10:27 PM A nine-year veteran RCMP officer faces impaired driving charges after a car flipped over in a crash near Kamloops early Saturday morning. “It appeared, from the preliminary investigation of the incident, that the lone occupant of the vehicle had driven off the road and hit protection poles surrounding a hydro box,” Const. Cheryl Bush said in a release Tuesday. “The vehicle then flipped onto its roof. The driver sustained no injuries as a result of this incident.” Investigators at the scene asked the officer, 29, for a breath sample and later said they would recommend charges to the Crown, police said. The identity of the officer, currently posted in Kamloops, has not been made public. The officer has been reassigned to administrative duties and will make his first court appearance on April 26 in Kamloops, Bush said

Obviously, except for the politicians of Canada, there needs to be a better screening device for those accepted into the RCMP.  Oh boy…here we go again. And how will they wash this one away?  MADD never seems to have anything to say when a cop is charged with DUI.  I wonder why?  What great role models the various members are presenting to the youth of this Country. We spend millions trying to educate people to not drink and drive and the people who enforce the law, are breaking that very law.  Looks like drinking isn’t just a RCMP problem it is spread into every police force around the world. The problem definitely needs to be researched.  I am starting to feel like the RCMP is almost as bad as the scum they are hired to protect us from http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/04/06/bc-kamloops-rcmp-impaired.html
Politicians, RCMP’s new image as being too often liars, drunk seems to be consistent.. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2008/11/11/no-rcmp-alcoholics-it-seems/

Top Mounties failing in leadership role, watchdog says Globe and Mail –   RCMP brass are failing to live up to the legendary can-do spirit of the Mounties and are undermining the efforts of provincial divisions that are striving to modernize the force, watchdog Paul Kennedy said Wednesday.  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/08/13/but-we-knew-all-that-already-about-the-rcmp/

Why do the police not prosecute the drunk drivers all year more consistently now too? “Of the 645 sexual assaults that were reported to our service in 2009, more than 40 per cent were alcohol-facilitated sexual assaults,” A sexual assault is never the fault of the victim. She said no means no the first time, and another drink can’t change that.“ We need people to understand that consent cannot be given if the person is impaired by alcohol: If they’re passed out, if they’re unconscious, if they’re sleeping,”  Supt. Danielle Campbell,   head of the Edmonton Police Criminal Investigations Division. It seems most alcohol-facilitated sexual assault doesn’t seem to be about miscommunication, or misconceptions of consent.  Rather, it is about men who use alcohol to incapacitate women for the purpose of raping them, and who do it over and over again like they know what they ‘re doing and are doing it on purpose. Do even the police do the same thing as well?

Research On Real-World Behavior, Vehicular Crash Factors – deaths

Speaking of safety, health now too . It is absolutely shocking to me, and I  wonder how the federal government can make a budget distribution based on need, when there is no real credible statics in Canada easily, readily available as to how many people have died from all together, separately, annually for  cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, drunk driving, speeding, homicide   in Canada  and why is that? No one cares? not even the Ministers? If you have such latest real info do let us all know..

Motor Vehicular accidents and Homicides do not account for even 10 percent of the causes of all annual deaths in Canada. In an average year in Canada, impaired driving killed 1,212 persons, injured 71,532, and caused damage to 236,375 vehicles, translating into 1,010 fatal crashes, 48,890 injury-only crashes and 155,510 property-damage only crashes, totaling an average of 205,410 crashes in all?  Total Traffic collisions in Canada claimed the lives of 2,926 road users?  http://thenonconformer.blogspot.com/2007/10/policing-facts-related-to-vehicular.html

and  yet more  than 9,300 hospital patients died solely of sepsis – a form of blood poisoning caused by infections – last year in Canada, new data reveal. Last year, there were 87,612 deaths in Canadian hospitals, excluding Quebec. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/12/11/hospital-deaths-account-for-half-of-deaths-annually/..

150,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer and 70,000people will die as a result per year?.  “Trends suggest that by 2010, cancer will be the leading cause of deaths in Canada and  will surpass heart related deaths..,” Also  1 in 4 Canadians will contract some form of heart disease . There are about 400,000 related acute care hospitalizations per year.  Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of deaths in Canada and accounted for at least 33% of all deaths (34% among women, 32% among men) . 75,000 Canadians suffer heart attacks each year and there has been a decreasing trend as well.  All people yes  also will die anyway sooner or later but someone needs to care about the good welfare of the living in reality now.. not in pretence

But none of them cancer or heart patients now will get any police tickets. Why? and what only speeders, drunk drivers will?

Not one cent of tax payer’s money should ever be used to purchase alcohol at any function, on any expense account.. and all alcoholics working in the government should be fired immediately if they are not getting proper treatment for it as well.

oaccident

Drive safely and reduce the speed, and the amount you use your car and you will less likely have your insurance rates go up.. but if that is the case why do we bother having insurance? More details…

And it   seems the police in Alberta think we are all as stupid as they are rather now too..  here is some undeniable  facts the police in Alberta and elsewhere need to be educated with:

– Alcohol use is a factor in 2 out of every 5 car accidents. Many cops drive drunk as well..
– Major cause of accidents now  also are not caused by speeding. ” The official statistics showed that only five per cent of crashes are caused by drivers breaking the speed limit. Drivers who let their attention wander cause more than six times as many accidents.” Driver error accounted for 66 per cent of accidents.. and add the road rage, impaired, drunk drivers, bad poorly maintained vehicles to that too .. Police love to lie and say that all accidents are mostly speed related, to justify their fat cow cash grabs, especially in Alberta and in Ontario now too.. they lump all of their homemade statistics as the accidents, deaths realted all to speeding.. not in reality to drunk driver, bad drivers, road rage, poor roads, bad snow cleaning.. so the annual return of cold and snow will bring out another annual event, more car accidents.
– Most reasonable and reasoning people have seen the folly of speed cameras as a mere cash grab  for decades now too.
– Driver inattention is the leading factor in most crashes.
– Men who drive under the influence of marijuana are more likely to be involved in traffic accidents and what do the traffic police do about this? nothing?
–  Most accidents occur on rural roads and not in the cities.. yet the traffic police force is mostly in the cities..
– Now the Police, also the RCMP is so ready to monitor others it firstly cannot monitor itself.. how absurd and hypocritical still too..

In reality the too often self serving, money hungry, promotional and empire oriented police, and their superiors, bad justice ministers, bad politicians  really do not care about the citizens good welfare but only their own still

More details…

Research On Real-World Driver Behavior, Distraction And Crash Factors     Sep 27, 2006 Driver inattention is the leading factor in most crashes and near-crashes, according to a landmark research.   Driver inattention is the leading factor in most crashes and near-crashes, according to a landmark research report released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). Nearly 80 percent of crashes and 65 percent of near-crashes involved some form of driver inattention within three seconds before the event. Primary causes of driver inattention are distracting activities, such as cell phone use, and drowsiness. “This important research illustrates the potentially dire consequences that can occur while driving distracted or drowsy.  It’s crucial that drivers always be alert when on the road,” said Jacqueline Glassman, acting administrator of NHTSA. Her remarks were made during a news conference at VTTI in Blacksburg, VA.

Study Finds Correlation between Marijuana Use and Auto Accidents  A study, which was recently published by the University of Montreal in Canada, says that men who drive under the influence of marijuana are more likely to be involved in traffic accidents. A senior author of the study, Jacques Bergeron, wrote the following about his research conclusions: “Individuals scoring high on impulsivity or sensation-seeking scales demonstrated an elevated risk of driving under the influence of cannabis.”The study found that men who use marijuana are much more likely to be involved in accidents. In fact, of the 83 participants who were surveyed, 35 percent had been involved in a crash, resulting in material damages within the previous three years. Of these 83 men, 30 percent said that they had used pot and 80 percent of those said that they had driven under the influence of marijuana at least once in the year before the study. The age range of the men who were interviewed ran from 17 to 49 years old. The study itself was published in the journal: Accident Analysis & Prevention.

Study Shows that High Mileage Drivers are More Accident Prone   A recent study, released by Quality Planning, concludes that drivers who spend more time on the road and behind the wheel actually have a higher incidence of traffic accidents. This may be because the ratio of driving time to accidents is not taken into consideration; however, many drivers who use their cars for under 3,000 miles of driving each year have begun to demand lower rates from their insurance companies.  Such drivers are 44% less likely to be involved in an accident than those who drove an average amount. Those drivers who were behind the wheel for more than 28,000 miles each year are 28% more prone to accidents.

Driving While Intoxicated in Texas Texas Department of Transportation, Dec 28, 2006 About every 20 minutes in Texas, someone is hurt or killed in a crash involving alcohol.

CALGARY AND EDMONTON POLICE these days still ISSUE MORE TRAFFIC TICKETS OVER ANY OTHER CITIES  IN CANADA AND  FOR DECADES NOW TOO!

Anyone who thinks the cops here are being honest, serving the public is a fool..

do see the related posts:

The BC justice minister is clearly scared to prosecute the dirty RCMP because he is guilty himself.. many unpaid speeding tickets.. The citizens expected their Attorney General’s Office to conduct a fair and comprehensive investigation of all police  matters too to determine if there is evidence of criminal wrongdoing but he could not do so cause his hands were tied..

also in reality it is also an undeniable  fact that the police do immorally and specially target people who complain about the police, having been a police complainer and next  a target for many years myself I know what I am talking about. But what there is more too…

PS: Transport Canada Transports Canada Road Safety in Canada – 2000  October 2003 ***

Prepared For: The Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) Standing Committee on Road Safety Research and Policies Prepared by: Transport Canada Road Safety and Motor Vehicle Regulations Directorate

Canada had almost 21 million licensed drivers in 2000, Despite huge improvements in road safety, nearly 3000 Canadians die on the roads every year Improvements notwithstanding, Traffic fatalities accounted for 93 percent of transportation fatalities nationwide in 2000. Traffic collisions in Canada claimed the lives of 2,926 road users and injured another 227,403 in 2000.

Comparison of Fatalities by Mode of Transportation, 2000
Road 93%
Air 3%
Rail 3%
Marine 1%

A profile of collisions in Canada
In Canada, there were approximately 1,700 motor vehicle collisions every day during 2000, of which about 75 percent resulted in property damage only, and 25 percent involved an injury or a death.
In 2000, eight people died on our roads every day, and 623 were injured, 2,566 fatal collisions

Two-thirds of fatal collisions occurred on rural roads  Most deadly collisions took place on rural roads – primary and secondary highways and local roads  Approximately 67 percent of the 2,566 fatal collisions occurred on rural roads in 2000. Of all injury collisions, 42,700 or 28 percent occurred on rural roads, while the majority occurred in urban areas . ( ***These figures are still unreliable, they seem to assume that speeding is a major cause of the accidents, there is generally no proof of that, not even in the police reports, rather speeding was, is not the main cause, Drunk driving was, is, and impaired driving, road rage, reckless drivers etc.,,)

Motor Vehicle Traffic Collisions 1991-2000
Three out of four serious collisions occurred in clear weather  road conditions for traffic deaths and injuries. But, in fact, the majority of collisions causing death and injury occurred in clear weather on straight, level roads with a dry road surface.( The drunk drivers drive often and have accidents on good roads, and good days )  More than half of fatal collisions and two thirds of the injury collisions occurred on such roads and the proportion of crashes on these roads has been on the increase. Almost one in five fatal collisions occurred on Saturday  A single three-hour time period, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., posed the highest risk for fatal crashes and those producing injuries. This high-risk time period was even riskier on weekends. Saturday was the peak day for fatal collisions, although the period from midnight to 3:00 a.m. was the most risky. Friday was the peak day for injuries. Fewer serious crashes occurred on weekdays, with Monday the safest day by a slight edge.

July and August observed the highest frequencies of fatal collisions  On average, the peak months for fatal collisions were July and August. Injury collisions were also consistent: injury collisions involving two vehicles peaked in June, July and August, while single-vehicle injury collisions often peaked in November and December.

The number of motor vehicles involved in crashes each year was still over 1.1 million in 2000, displayed by collision severity and vehicle type..  automobiles, light trucks and vans are most frequently involved in collisions.

The alcohol-related casualty figures remain grim. Of almost 3000 road users killed in 2000, alcohol was a factor in approximately 1000 deaths. Many of the fatally injured drivers who had consumed alcohol were severely impaired is about 40 percent.. Not all persons who have been in an accident have been test for alcohol consumption http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/tp-tp3322-2005-page6-654.htm

9 out of 10 Canadians buckle up!  Seat belt use by Canadians is ranked among the highest in the world. 40 percent of Canadians killed had not buckled up Most Canadians believe that seat belts will reduce the risk of death and injury; yet, almost 40 percent of motor vehicle occupants who died were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Among those seriously injured, 20 percent were not wearing their seat belts.

Seventy-six percent of road user fatalities are occupants of motor vehicles. Drivers accounted for 50 percent and passengers 26 percent.

Fatalities by Road User Class, 2000
Cyclists 1%
Motorcyclists 5%
Other 5%
Pedestrians 13%
Passengers 26%
Drivers 50%

Almost all Canadians, regardless of age group, were safer on the roads Almost all Canadians, regardless of age group, were safer on the roads, but two age groups showed increases in fatalities of 19 percent and 21 percent in the 45-54 and the unknown age groups, respectively, over the 10-year period. The 45-54 age group posted a strong increase in population as mentioned above.  All age groups under 35 years of age showed strong double-digit decreases in injuries. Injuries in all age groups over 34 years of age increased from 1991 to 2000 and were most notable in the 45-54, 65 and over, and unknown age groups showing increases of 28 percent, 12 percent and 52 percent, respectively. Commercial vehicle collisions accounted for one in five deaths In the National Safety Code for Motor Carriers, commercial vehicle is defined as a truck, tractor, or -trailer, or combination thereof exceeding a registered gross weight of 4 500 kilograms; or a bus designed, constructed and used for the transportation of passengers with a designated seating capacity of more than 10, including the driver, but excluding the operation for personal use.   The National Safety Code currently contains 15 standards addressing factors necessary for the safe operation of all commercial vehicles.  The federal government has jurisdiction under the Motor Vehicle Transport Act to regulate truck and bus carriers that operate beyond the limits of a province.  The Act creates a framework for shared responsibility between federal and provincial governments for the safe operation of motor carriers.  The provinces and territories regulate the operations of carriers within their respective jurisdictions.  Over the period 1991 to 2000, injuries resulting from commercial vehicle collisions fell from 15,564 to 14,860; and fewer people died – a decrease from 662 to 587.  As impressive as these improvements are, however, commercial vehicle crashes are often deadly, and particularly dangerous to other users of the road. Although commercial vehicles, on average, accounted for approximately 8 to 9 percent of all vehicles involved in crashes, they accounted for an average of 19 percent of all road user fatalities or one in five road fatalities in Canada.

By far the majority of victims in commercial vehicle crashes were the occupants of the other vehicles involved. In 2000, for example, crashes involving commercial vehicles killed 587 persons; 447 of whom were occupants of the other vehicles involved.

School bus travel is very safe The number of school bus occupants fatally injured over the ten-year period was ten, two drivers and eight passengers. From 1995 to 2000, only three passengers of school buses were killed.

While vehicle occupants account for over 75 percent of the deaths and injuries the  pedestrians still do face considerable risks. Crashes involving these vulnerable road users claimed 567 lives in 2000.   Motorcyclists accounted for one in 18 fatalities Motorcycle registrations in Canada  311,000 in 2000. In 2000, there was one motorcycle for every 57 motor vehicles registered. Nonetheless, motorcyclists still accounted for almost six percent  00-04

THE MICKEY MOUSE RCMP IN CANADA

Lately we have seen many examples of what big liars the RCMP are. Hey Jason Kenney MP, Mickey Mouse  is also still a good description for the RCMP..

RCMP chose not to correct record on taser death, inquiry told Globe and Mail – VANCOUVER — Within days of Robert Dziekanski’s death at Vancouver International Airport, the RCMP knew that key information it had released was wrong, but decided it would not correct the record, one of the Mounties’ media officers testified yesterday.

Dziekanski inquiry: RCMP spokesman simply repeated what he was  Canada.com –  By Suzanne Fournier, The ProvinceApril 21, 2009   RCMP Sgt. Pierre Lemaitre stands in the lobby of the Braidwood Inquiry into the Tasering of Robert Dziekanski who died at the hands of police after arriving at Vancouver Airport from Poland.

Misinformation about Tasering purposely not corrected: Mountie. Canada.com –  By Suzanne Fournier, Canwest News ServiceApril 22, 2009 VANCOUVER – An RCMPspokesman said Wednesday that top police brass made a deliberate decision not to correct misinformation the Mounties had told the media about Robert Dziekanski’s death,

Heads must roll for this deceit The Province – After the Tasering and subsequent death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski, Cpl. Dale Carr of the RCMP talked to investigators, watched the Paul Pritchard video of the incident, then told Sgt. Pierre Lemaitre what to tell the media.  After the Tasering and subsequent death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski, Cpl. Dale Carr of the RCMP talked to investigators, watched the Paul Pritchard video of the incident, then told Sgt. Pierre Lemaitre what to tell the media. At that point, Sgt. Lemaitre proceeded to, either knowingly or unknowingly, tell the media (and, by extension, all Canadians) a bunch of crap. Speaking on behalf of the Mounties, Lemaitre alleged Dziekanski became violent after police arrived, that he threw chairs and a computer, that he didn’t hit the floor with the first Taser blast and that he continued to be violent and combative after he hit the ground. Not true, not true, not true and not true Or, more to the point: lie, lie, lie, lie. Speaking at the Braidwood Inquiry Wednesday, Carr testified that he was told by his boss, Supt. Wayne Rideout, that the misinformation given out to reporters about the fatal Taser incident would not be corrected publicly until the file was closed. In other words, perpetuate these lies until . . . That’s the question, isn’t it? Until the public forgets about poor Mr. Dziekanski? Until anyone who might be remotely interested in the truth has moved on to something else? Until the truth can be quietly filed away as an addendum item to yet another Taser-related fatality? Day after day, what the Braidwood Inquiry reveals about our national police force is both sad and terrifying. Where exactly do the Mounties go from here? Is regaining the public trust even possible at this point? Should every allegation of dishonest RCMP testimony be re-examined and placed under the scrutiny of its own inquiry? One thing is certain at this point: heads must roll, both of those responsible for the tragedy of Mr. Dziekanski’s death and of those who attempted to manipulate the truth of what happened.  http://www.theprovince.com/News/Heads+must+roll+this+deceit/1524800/story.html

This not something new that I have said, rather it is old, decades old.. all now proven now by details of the murder of a polish immigrant in the Vancouver airport.. that the RCMP is pretentious, incompetent, costly, self serving, just like the justice, security ministers now too, for the RCMP does not  care about the good welfare of the Citizens as well.. they the RCMP are over paid for what they do for they generally  can’t catch the real criminals, so  they harass the ordinary citizen with quota oriented traffic tickets instead.. they have to use PR, a public relationship department approach to sell the RCMP output, because it otherwise is not  all visible at all. Did I mention also that this mainly white force is likely racist oriented as well? Cutting their budget, firing now all of their managers, sergeants is the prerequisite or totally disbanding them.

Mounties back off taser tale Toronto Star    After months of stonewalling and sticking to a now-discredited version of events surrounding the role of its officers in the death of Robert Dziekanski, RCMP Commissioner William Elliott is signalling a change from the national police force.  Chief makes it clear RCMP will stop blaming Polish victim.  Asked if part of the problem for the RCMP has been its refusal to admit any mistakes were made, Elliott said: “Well, maybe it is.”

RCMP ‘sorry’ for inaccurate remarks on Dziekanski incident Globe and Mail  VANCOUVER — The RCMP has admitted that it provided wrong information to the public about the taser incident involving Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski in the first days after his death at Vancouver International Airport. But the police force has denied that it lied or deliberately suppressed information about the disturbing circumstances of Mr. Dziekanski’s death. ( RCMP is still lying..) No sooner was the apology uttered than the Mounties’ media spokesman was besieged with questions demanding why the erroneous information was ever put out in the first place.  The RCMP has faced criticism for its handling of Mr. Dziekanski’s death, which occurred after he was stunned by a police taser near the international arrivals lounge at the Vancouver Airport.  For example, in one CTV interview shown to the inquiry, Sgt. Lemaitre is shown telling interviewers that Mr. Dziekanski did not respond to the first police taser, and that he struggled and fought, even while on the ground.  However, the bystander’s videotape, which was later made public, shows that Mr. Dziekanski screamed and fell to the ground after the first taser. Sgt. Lemaitre also told reporters in October 2007 that police tasered Mr. Dziekasnki twice, when in fact four electronic shocks were delivered. And in another news briefing that October, Sgt. Lemaitre was asked point blank by a reporter if there was video of the taser struggle. Sgt. Lemaitre told the reporter there was no video, even though he himself had already viewed it. But reporters Tuesday questioned the RCMP line that Sgt. Lemaitre was simply a messenger who was handed the wrong facts. If Sgt. Lemaitre watched the amateur video, he would have seen Mr. Dziekanski drop to the ground after the first taser hit.

Dziekanski inquiry: RCMP spokesman simply repeated what told to say Canada.com

The RCMP have been heavily criticized for public statements about the Tasering and restraint of Dziekanski, for saying that three rather than four members were involved, that Dziekanski continued to be “violent” after police arrived, and that police attempted to calm him before Tasering and had to Taser him twice because he fought back.  None of those “facts” is true, as shown by the bystander Pritchard video that is shown repeatedly at the inquiry.

RCMP shenanigans bring shame to force  The Barrie Examiner –  Since the Robert Dziekanski Taser episode at Vancouver airport and the subsequent Braidwood inquiry into his death at the hands of RCMP officers, the public’s faith and trust in our national police force has been severely tested. …

RCMP apologize for giving public inaccurate account of Dziekanski death Tue Apr 21, 9:11 PM  VANCOUVER, B.C. – The RCMP apologized Tuesday for what it says was inaccurate information that misled the public about the circumstances of Robert Dziekanski’s death.

The RCMP FALSELY now had  fed us crap, had covered up for their own inadequcies ,

mic-key1

and NEXT ANY OF their apolgy is not accepted, they ALL DO need to be fired, prosecuted as well.

DISBAND ASAP THE RCMP AND GET A REAL PROFESSIONAL POLICE FORCE NOW

Despite evidence the RCMP used excessive force, resulting in the man’s death, the officer who analysed their actions told an inquiry Thursday the force used was reasonable. That officer is wrong.

Canadians know this by now, having watched a bystander video of the RCMP’s encounter with Mr. Dziekanski Oct. 14, 2007. Some of those four officers have conceded at the inquiry that their accounts, recorded in notes, of Mr. Dziekanski’s actions at the airport were wrong. That did not dissuade Sgt. Brad Fawcett of the Vancouver Police Department from sticking to his report’s conclusions, rationalizing the use of force at the inquiry into Mr. Dziekanski’s death. Sgt. Fawcett said the RCMP perceived they were under threat, that Mr. Dziekanski was combative and, under those conditions, acted reasonably when they discharged a Taser five times.

The traveller, who was lost in the airport for 10 hours, was agitated and threw furniture, but when the RCMP arrived, Mr. Dziekanski was not combative. In fact, he turned away from them, picked up a stapler and then faced them again. The officers said he raised the stapler and moved toward them combatively, but the video showed otherwise. They said, fearing for their safety, they had to wrestle him to the ground after he was Tasered once — in fact, he flailed for a few seconds and then collapsed on the ground. The officers jumped on him, as he was still screaming, and tried to cuff him, at which point Mr. Dziekanski was Tasered again repeatedly.

Canadians have been shocked that a non-combative man with a harmless office tool was levelled by such force, with little effort made by police to understand the circumstances. Sgt. Fawcett himself said he would have reacted differently. But, he said, those officers reacted according to their perceptions of what was unfolding in front of them.

Sgt. Fawcett’s report showed that he had to ignore the evidence to rationalize the inaccurate versions of events told by the RCMP — saying the video supported their stories, when it didn’t and then discounting as “minor in nature” the contradiction between the officers’ account that Mr. Dziekanski had to be wrestled to the ground and the video that showed he collapsed.

Sgt. Fawcett ignored the obvious need for officers to explain their actions, and their perceptions, in the context of the facts of an event, of the circumstances in front of them, to justify their use of force. In the absence of that, reasonable becomes arbitrary and any use of force can be justified. That is not the kind of authority any officer should have.

Sgt. Fawcett’s conclusions are insupportable and his weak attempts to paint the RCMP officers’ actions as reasonable do them a disservice.

 The  RCMP is a farce…

In busy Toronto, police say  Drunk driving and careless turning are the main culprits for serious accidents in intersections and red light cameras are not used because of the fear of public backlash..  So why are Calgary drivers such chronic lead-foots? or is the question why is it the Calgary city fathers are so money hungry? The  police services are  implementing the   speed cameras as a way of adding to their coffers.. ‘Speed on green’ cameras linked to rear-end crashes.  Arizona cities, one of the first cities to bring in such technology says the cameras decrease speeding and dangerous collisions, but can increase the number of rear-end crashes. But of course the money hungry police of Calgary had denied this. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/06/25/we-need-more-red-light-cameras-elsewhere-too/

ANOTHER CASH GRAB.. The Calgary Parking Authority is expanding its hold on the inner city by starting to charge for parking on more than 20 blocks of the Beltline.

CALGARY AND EDMONTON POLICE ISSUE MORE TRAFFIC TICKETS OVER ANY OTHER CITIES  IN CANADA AND  FOR DECADES NOW TOO!

Anyone who thinks the cops here are being honest, serving the public is a fool..

No  matter how that dirty RCMP weasel spins the facts, tries to weasel out of the truth, the RCMP was clearly wrong on many counts in the Taser death of a polish immigrant at the Vancouver airport.. they were uncompassionate, inconsiderate, used more restraining force than was necessary, and they next also clearly lied to cover-up their own immoral acts, and many times as well, They slander a good man in the process as well.. and so none of this was, is acceptable or forgivable.. none  of it.  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/04/21/the-mickey-mouse-rcmp-in-canada

Now the RCMP is so ready to monitor others it firstly cannot monitor itself.. how absurd and hypocritical still too

Most reasonable and reasoning people have seen the folly of speed cameras for decades now too.

Here is what I found amazing and worth while examining now  in much more detail.. insurance companies in Canada do not mind gouging Canadian consumers in their greed to make more profits..  and we all know that accumulating speeding , traffic infractions, will cause your car insurance costs to go up significantly…   and yet here is what I find surprising, neither the insurance companies, the provincial government, nor the federal government, the police have real, valid detailed statistics on the causes of traffic accidents: such as how many were caused my alcoholic drivers, how many were caused by speeding, how many were caused by poor road conditions, lousy snow clearing as well, etc not even in Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, BC as well.. …. so what do the insurance companies do with all the extra money they collect, certainly they of all persons should have firstly the best statistics on traffic accidents now in the first place, or how do they determine their rates??? Even Canada’s police chiefs have to rely on accident statistics from other countries, such as Australia, Great Britain, the US..

The RCMP made a mistake by waiting 14 months before correcting misinformation about a fatal incident involving four Mounties at Vancouver’s airport, a media relations officer said Wednesday at the Braidwood inquiry.  Cpl. Dale Carr told the inquiry, which is probing the death of Robert Dziekanski at Vancouver International Airport after he was Tasered five times at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2007.   that the misinformation initially put out by the RCMP could have compromised the investigation http://www.vancouversun.com/News/Mountie+admits+RCMP+conveyed+misinformation/1525511/story.html

This was no mistake, this was an unacceptable blatant lie  where real, serious punishment should be applied to all the RCMP personnel  involved.

The inquiry heard last month that in the first two days after Dziekanski died on Oct. 14, 2007, the RCMP’s public statements on the incident contained false information about how many officers were involved, how many times Dziekanski was stunned and what state Dziekanski was in when approached by officers.

Inquiry commissioner Thomas Braidwood ruled that Supt. Wayne Rideout could only address his decisions about what RCMP media spokespeople had told the public following Dziekanski’s death — despite a request by the lawyer for the Polish government to expand the scope of questions Rideout can be asked when he returns. Don Rosenbloom wanted to question Rideout about why the RCMP fought to withhold amateur video of the Taser incident, and why investigators failed to question the four Mounties who were deployed to handle Dziekanski when discrepancies were discovered in their statements. This is how the RCMP falsely subverts justice.. but we all already knew how dirty the RCMP really is..

RCMP ‘obstructed’ paramedics, firefighter tells Taser inquiry  VANCOUVER — Richmond Fire Capt. Kirby Graeme, the first responder to reach Robert Dziekanski after he was Tasered by four RCMP officers at Vancouver‘s airport, called the Mounties “unprofessional” for not going to the aid of the Polish immigrant.

RCMP behaviour at Taser incident ‘highly unprofessional,’ fire captain says  RCMP officers behaved unprofessionally after Tasering Robert Dziekanski at the Vancouver International Airport, a Richmond fire department captain testified Tuesday.

‘Nobody seemed to be doing anything’ Richmond RCMP officers who refused to take handcuffs off of an unconscious Polish immigrant they had just Tasered at Vancouver International Airport were described by a Richmond firefighter as “unprofessional” Tuesday at the Braidwood Inquiry.

It would be easy to form the impression that the four Richmond RCMP officers involved were the only ones to blame for the tragedy at Vancouver International Airport on Oct. 14, 2007.But as the lawyer for Dziekanski’s mother has astutely observed, that’s only because the RCMP’s spectacularly bad PR has stolen the spotlight. RCMP brass and the federal government could have pre-empted a damning report from Thomas Braidwood by stepping up with a genuine mea culpa and an announcement that a major overhaul of the RCMP and CBSA was already in the works. That hasn’t happened. Now, given how much has been exposed in this inquiry, it is hard to believe a few people won’t be held to account. http://www2.canada.com/burnabynow/news/community/story.html?id=8d1d3edf-7582-4031-93f0-d6efddf13a8d

that includes the and justice ministers, solicitor generals at the federal and provincial levels now too and who is going to hold them all accountable? not the bad PM for sure.

Three off-duty police officers arrested in Vancouver for assault  The Canadian Press,  B.C. – 21 Jan 2009 The quick flurry of statements by four police departments came after criticism last year that information regarding charges against police officers in the Vancouver region was sometimes slow to trickle out to the public. Several incidents last year involved impaired-driving charges against five officers – one of them fatal – involving three Mounties and constables from Vancouver and New Westminster. New Westminster Const. Tomi Hamner pleaded guilty last month after driving her unmarked police vehicle into a sign while off duty in October. She was fined $1,000 and lost her driver’s licence for a year. The other impaired-driving cases, including one against a Richmond RCMP officer involved in the notorious Taser incident that ended in the death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski, are still pending. McGuinness said the officers involved in Wednesday’s incident got no special consideration. “There’s no exceptions made for the fact that they are police officers,” she said. “When we receive information like this, we want to get that out. There’s no reason to withhold it.” Statistics released by the office of the complaints commissioner in November found that 106 municipal police officers were guilty of misconduct between Oct. 1, 2006, and Oct. 1, 2008.

and not all guilty officers are charged by their peers and if charged they often get away with it still too. Unacceptable always too.

Now I ALSO DO know that   Fantino the  commissioner of Ontario Provincial Police  and of Ontario’s often lazy cops  is a big liar, he had recently  lied as to the cause of the majority of accidents during this winter in Ontario, and he had no real truthful statistical information to back up his lying words, but in my many dealings with cops now  I already DO know that most cops lie, and I rightfully   do not respect them and believe them in the first place now too.. Fantino thus here clearly had lied and said that speeding was the major cause of accidents, whereas in reality speeding is only 15 percent of the cause of  vehicle accidents, but drunk driving is the main cause at  45 percent. The bad cops standard method of operation is to kill the bad guys without a trial and to silence them, as WE SAW THE RCMP DO AT THE VANCOUVER AIRPORT NOW TOO, and to remove any police oppositions. Now  all such bad cops firstly themselves need now FIRSTLY to be removed

More  Tax dollars wasted on Fantino’s ‘pathetic’ attempt to oust adjudicator: opposition Ontario’s highest-ranking police officer is wasting public money by pressing on with his fight to have an adjudicator he accuses of bias ousted from a murky disciplinary hearing, the provincial legislature heard Thursday. New Democrat Peter Kormos called on the government, which appointed Fantino as commissioner of Ontario Provincial Police, to put an end to the spending.”How much more public money will OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino be allowed to burn through in his pathetic attempt to oust the adjudicator at his embarrassing disciplinary hearing?” Kormos asked Community Safety Minister Rick Bartolucci. “It’s the taxpayers who are picking up the tab.”  Despite losing two Divisional Court battles for force the adjudicator, retired judge Leonard Montgomery, to step down, Fantino’s lawyer said this week he plans to pursue the matter to the province’s top court. Fantino had three law firms on retainer being paid “exorbitant fees” at the expense of Ontario taxpayers

RCMP Taser deaths face renewed probe  Watchdog to examine officers’ compliance  OTTAWA–The RCMP’s watchdog agency has launched a new probe into the deaths of people who have been Tasered by Mounties. Paul Kennedy, chairman of the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP, said in an interview that he initiated this latest review to establish whether there are patterns in the cases where people have died that call for changes.  Kennedy said he is unaware of any comprehensive look at all the deaths that ensued after Mounties began using conducted-energy weapons in 2001. RCMP officers have used the weapon about 4,300 times over those years, he said. Kennedy would not identify which cases he will examine, but said it is about 10 or 11. Amnesty International says 25 people have died after being Tasered in Canada, including 11 who died when RCMP officers used the weapon.  Critics blame many deaths directly on the excessive use of force by police and the Taser’s discharge of a 50,000-volt shock. Kennedy said the goal of the new review is to see whether officers complied with appropriate training, procedures and “statutory requirements” relating to the use of force, and whether RCMP policies are appropriate.  Kennedy’s earlier report urged the RCMP to do a better job of tracking when and how it uses Tasers, called for only experienced officers to be armed with them, and for immediate medical attention for anyone struck by the weapons. The force appears to have acted on some of his recommendations, but not the latter two.

THERE ARE TWO IMMEDIATE IMMEDIATE, VIABLE SOLUTIONS TO THIS RCMP FALSE, CONTINUOUS  NON COMPLIANCE PROBLEMS

” CP Police shouldn’t be investigating themselves in any province: Ontario ombudsman  Wed Jan 14, 2:34 PM  WINNIPEG – All provinces should follow the lead of Ontario and Manitoba and establish a civilian unit to hold police to account or risk more internal investigations marred by favouritism, Ontario’s ombudsman said Wednesday. Andre Marin just completed an investigation into Ontario’s special investigations unit and is advising Manitoba on the creation of a similar body. He said police show bias when they investigate one of their own and Canadians deserve better. “Police should not be investigating other police when there is serious injury or death,” said Marin, who once headed Ontario’s special investigations unit. “When they do so, inevitably the investigations will suffer from favouritism and bring into question the results of those investigations. “The public will never be satisfied.”  Alberta will only allow civilians to observe investigations involving police while officers remain “in the driver’s seat,” Marin said. Despite questionable investigations into police shootings in Quebec and British Columbia, both provinces defend the status quo, he added. Police in Manitoba have come under fire for their botched investigation into a fatal traffic collision involving an off-duty Winnipeg constable. A public inquiry was called after Crystal Taman died in February 2005 when her car was rear-ended by the officer at a red light. Derek Harvey-Zenk, who had been drinking that night, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and was given two years of house arrest. An inquiry concluded the investigation into Taman’s death was “riddled with incompetence” and recommended Manitoba set up an independent body to conduct similar probes into police conduct. Police who investigate themselves often give officers months before asking for a statement because they “need time” to recover from the trauma, Marin said. The same courtesy is not extended to civilian witnesses, who are immediately segregated and questioned. He pointed to the passengers on board a Greyhound bus on which a young man was decapitated last summer. Although police say civilians aren’t equipped with the necessary investigation skills, Marin said that is a self-serving argument. It doesn’t take a genius – or a police officer – to probe alleged wrongdoing by police, he said. “You don’t have a mass murderer on the loose,” Marin said. “It’s a question of whether there was legal justification for causing serious injury or death.”

Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino DEFENCE, COURT ACTIONS, THE CITIZENS AGAIN?

“The Canadian Press  TORONTO – An adjudicator had every reason to feel he was being threatened by an experienced lawyer acting for Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino, and his reaction did not indicate bias, a court heard Thursday.  Lawyer Julian Falconer, who represents two officers charged by Fantino with professional misconduct, told Divisional Court the adjudicator’s anger at being told he would be appealed if he didn’t step down was perfectly understandable.  “It was an extraordinary submission to make to an adjudicator. It was unnecessary. It was offensive.”  At issue is whether Leonard Montgomery is unfit to continue hearing a disciplinary case against the two senior officers, as Fantino contends.  In November, Fantino’s lawyer Brian Gover asked Montgomery to step down and said he would take the matter to court if the retired justice did not do so. Gover also insisted he had the full support of the province’s attorney general – something the ministry immediately disavowed.   Montgomery refused to step down. Gover’s comments, Montgomery said, amounted to a “highly improper” attempt to intimidate a judicial officer. He also complained about apparent political interference and conflicts of interest related to the Ministry of the Attorney General’s involvement.  Fantino HAS A new lawyer Tom Curry . At several points, Justice James Carnwath challenged Curry’s assertion that Montgomery had shown bias rather than a normal reaction to Gover’s announcement he would go to court if not satisfied.  “This kind of statement leads to some pretty harsh responses from the bench,” Carnwath noted.  “(Montgomery) was pretty constrained.”   Montgomery had  called Fantino’s credibility into question when the commissioner changed his testimony during the disciplinary hearing in October.   The labyrinthine disciplinary hearing involves two former members of the provincial police internal standards bureau.  They are accused under the Police Services Act in relation to an investigation they did into how officers responded to a domestic violence complaint involving an officer and his estranged wife more than four years ago.  But the case has ensnared Fantino, with the defence accusing him of petty vindictiveness and witness tampering.  The judges reserved their decision. ” http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090108/national/fantino_hearing

Harper stays silent on Gaza

Waves of anger sweeps across the World. Hundreds of Thousands call for Mid-East peace, call for peace in Israel and Gaza, as well as recognition of the citizen’s view of the conflict there, and they want both Gaza and Israel to be free, calling  called for a sustained ceasefire and an end to all violence in the region.  ” We look upon the increasing loss of life on both sides of the Gaza conflict with horror ” . “We have no doubt that these conflicts by  Israel, and by Hamas and other militant Palestinian groups, are war crimes against the innocent citizens.  “No sovereign state should, or would, tolerate continued attacks and the deliberate targeting of civilians.  We all must demand  an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. WASHINGTON: Several thousand protesters – 10,000 according to organizers – descended on the White House in support of Palestinians in Gaza, on the heels of other protests across major world capitals. The two biggest protests calling for an end to Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip took place in London and Paris, and elsewhere..

As far as I am concerned both sides are really not interested in any real peaceful settlements, negotiations, as History has clearly shown the last 50 years too.. both sides here tend to be really imperfect, have done many wrongs, are often equally guilty thus.. so you cannot really ask me to take one or the other sides .. An Impossible Peace: Israel/Palestine

“When the world community at the UN tried to stop the violence, the call for a ceasefire was blocked by the U.S., and Canada, to its shame, has fully supported the U.S., actually opposing the call for an immediate ceasefire,”  “These actions by Canada and the U.S. amount to a green light for the killing to continue, and they make our governments complicit to the crimes being waged in Gaza.” – David Orchard.   David Orchard who entered the Israeli consulate said people in that the city of Montreal could not support the continued bombing in Gaza. He also called for the federal government to break off relations with Israel until the military action stops.  http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090108/national/gaza_canada_reaction

Latest update Jan 9, 2009 “.MONTREAL – Prime Minister Stephen Harper is echoing previous assertions that Canada supports an “effective and durable” ceasefire in Gaza. His comments in Montreal today come a day after the UN Security Council approved a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Harper says the Canadian government has been clear on its position. He says both parties, Israel and Hamas, are responsible for coming to such an agreement. ” BUT Israel and Hamas ignore UN call for cease-fire.

Who will save Israel from herself?  Not the UN,  Canada, US, or  Middle East Quartet, the European Union, the United Nations, or the Arab League. Oxford University professor Avi Shlaim, Sees Israel today as a “rogue” and gangster” state led by “completely unscrupulous leaders”. Neve Gordon, a politics professor at Ben Gurion University, has declared that Israel’s actions in Gaza are like “raising animals for slaughter on a farm” and represent a “bizarre new moral element” in warfare.”The moral voice of restraint has been left behind … Everything is permitted” against Palestinians, writes a disgusted Haaretz columnist, Gideon Levy. Fellow Haaretz columnist and daughter of Holocaust survivors, Amira Haas writes of her late parents disgust at how Israeli leaders justified Israel’s wars with a “language laundromat” aimed at redefining reality and Israel’s moral compass. “Lucky my parents aren’t alive to see this,” she exclaimed. Around the world people are beginning to compare Israel’s attack on Gaza, which after the 2005 withdrawal of Israeli forces and settlers was turned literally into the world’s largest prison, to the Jewish uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto. ”

“One by one the justifications given by Israel for its latest war in Gaza are unravelling. The argument that this is a purely defensive war, launched only after Hamas broke a six-month ceasefire has been challenged, not just by observers in the know such as Jimmy Carter, the former US president who helped facilitate the truce, but by centre-right Israeli intelligence think tanks. The Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, whose December 31 report titled “Six Months of the Lull Arrangement Intelligence Report,” confirmed that the June 19 truce was only “sporadically violated, and then not by Hamas but instead by … “rogue terrorist organisations”.Instead, “the escalation and erosion of the lull arrangement” occurred after Israel killed six Hamas members on November 4 without provocation and then placed the entire Strip under an even more intensive siege the next day. According to a joint Tel Aviv University-European University study, this fits a larger pattern in which Israeli violence has been responsible for ending 79 per cent of all lulls in violence since the outbreak of the second intifada, compared with only 8 per cent for Hamas and other Palestinian factions. Indeed, the Israeli foreign ministry seems to realise that this argument is losing credibility…  the claim that the Israeli forces have gone out of their way to diminish civilian casualties – long a centre-piece of Israel’s image as an enlightened and moral democracy – is falling apart. Anyone with an internet connection can Google “Gaza humanitarian catastrophe” and find the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Territories and read the thousands of pages of evidence documenting the reality of the current fighting, and the long term siege on Gaza that preceded it. The Red Cross, normally scrupulous in its unwillingness to single out parties to a conflict for criticism, sharply criticised Israel for preventing medical personnel from reaching wounded Palestinians, some of whom remained trapped for days, slowly starving and dying in the Gazan rubble amidst their dead relatives. Meanwhile, the United Nations has flatly denied Israeli claims that Palestinian fighters were using the UNRWA school compound bombed on January 6, in which 40 civilians were killed, to launch attacks, and has challenged Israel to prove otherwise. Additionally, numerous flippant remarks by senior Israeli politicians and generals, including Tzipi Livni, the foreign minister, refusing to make a distinction between civilian people and institutions and fighters – “Hamas doesn’t … and neither should we” is how Livni puts it – are rightly being seen as admissions of war crimes. As Richard Falk, the UN special rapporteur, declared in his most recent statement on Gaza: “It should be pointed out unambiguously that there is no legal (or moral) justification for firing rockets at civilian targets, and that such behavior is a violation of IHR, associated with the right to life, as well as constitutes a war crime.” By the same logic, however, Israel does not have the right to use such attacks as an excuse to launch an all-out assault on the entire population of Gaza.

“Canadian leaders back Israel as Harper stays silent on Gaza By Shadi Elien
In the nearly two weeks since Israel began its latest air strikes in Gaza, humanitarian groups and activists around the world have condemned Israel’s actions and called for a ceasefire. Meanwhile, many Canadian politicians appear to condone the offensive route being taken by Israel.

Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon has spoken on behalf of the Conservative government in regards to Canada’s position on the conflict. In a statement released on December 27, Cannon said: “Israel has a clear right to defend itself against the continued rocket attacks by Palestinian militant groups which have deliberately targeted civilians.” He urged both sides to create conditions that would allow humanitarian aide to be accessed by those who need it in Gaza but insisted that “first and foremost those rocket attacks must stop”.

Israel’s attacks on the densely populated Gaza Strip began on December 26, and escalated into a ground offensive on January 3. The number of Palestinians killed and injured continues to grow each day. According to BBC News, at least 683 have been killed and more than 3,085 injured.

Forty people were killed and 55 were injured yesterday (January 6) when Israeli mortar fire struck the UN-run al-Fakhura school in the Jabaliya refugee camp.

Canada’s junior foreign minister, Peter Kent, commented on the strike in an interview this week with the Globe and Mail, stating that Hamas “bears the full responsibility for the deepening humanitarian tragedy”. Despite the lack of information available from Gaza, due to an Israeli ban on journalists entering the war-torn territory, Kent insisted that Hamas is the root cause of the civilian fatalities.

“We really don’t have complete details yet, other than the fact that we know that Hamas has made a habit of using civilians and civilian infrastructure as shields for their terrorist activities, and that would seem to be the case again today,” he said.

Some members of Parliament have not been as quick to blame Hamas for the deaths. In an open letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper dated yesterday, Vancouver East MP Libby Davies urged the Canadian government to condemn the attacks and demand an immediate ceasefire.

“The lack of leadership from the Canadian government is shameful in the face of such events,” Davies stated.

Davies said she has received many messages from her constituents who were “outraged that Canada has done nothing”.

The Foreign Affairs Department had tried to help 36 Canadians leave the region on January 5, but the Israeli Defence Force, which controls movement in the area, stopped the operation. Speaking after a government caucus meeting, Cannon stated that security measures prevented them from helping those who wanted to return to Canada safely, according to the Canadian Press.

Today, Canada donated $4 million toward the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, giving $3 million to the United Nations relief effort and another $1 million to the Red Cross, according to CP.

The leader of the Opposition, Michael Ignatieff, also released a statement concurring with the view of the Conservatives and the majority of western politicians.

“The Liberal Party of Canada unequivocally condemns the rocket attacks launched by Hamas against Israeli civilians and calls for an immediate end to their attacks,” Ignatieff stated on December 29.

He called for Canada to provide humanitarian aid but held firm on his stance that Israel has the right to defend itself against the attacks.

As of today, no official statements have been made by Harper on the matter, who has remained quiet on the conflict in Gaza.

However, Harper found time to express congratulations to Canada’s World Junior Hockey team in two separate news releases on the Conservative Party of Canada Web site.”   http://www.straight.com/article-179114/canadian-leaders-back-israel-harper-stays-silent-gaza

Many true evangelicals do now support a two-state solution and creation of a new Palestinian state that includes the vast majority of the West Bank.  They support justice for both Israelis and Palestinians.  If all of the  learned men are going to be truly historically honest, surely they must admit that the Jews have every right to inhabit the land of their fathers, the covenant land given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob by none other than God himself and admit that right was the same God who took them next away from that land now twice too… THE NEW TESTAMENT DOES NOT talk about the Jews return next to it too. But God still wants the Jews and Palestinians brothers to live in peace together.

“THE CHRISTIAN AND MISSIONARY ALLIANCE, Update from Dr. Benedict – By Gary M. Benedict – August 16, 2007  I recently joined other evangelical leaders in signing a letter to President Bush concerning peace in the Middle East. The letter represents my personal conviction and does not represent the official position of The Alliance or the Board of Directors of the C&MA. The Christian and Missionary Alliance has been ministering in the Arab lands since 1890. For more than 110 years, we have been working among Israelis and Palestinians. We are seeking to fulfill Jesus’ Commission to take the gospel to people in all nations.  The letter I signed encourages President Bush to continue to pursue a peaceful solution to the conflict in the region. We are instructed in the Bible to “seek peace and pursue it,” yet I understand that the only true and lasting peace will come when the Prince of Peace returns. Please join me in praying for the peace of Jerusalem and that many will find the peace that passes all understanding through Jesus.  We share a common concern for peace in the region and the commitment to obey Jesus’ command to spread the gospel to all people. May God be pleased to reach many and bring glory to our Lord.   Living the Call together, Gary M. Benedict  President   U.S. C&MA   ”    http://www.cmalliance.org/peaceLetter.jsp

Also in Reality Conservatives need firstly to practice peaceful coexistence  in Canada! . Like I had posted on the net a long time ago too   “Reality In my 20 years of posting on the net in Canada the biggest immoral human rights violators, abusers have been the Conservatives of Alberta who clearly do not tolerate free speech, the difference of views, and they next tend to lie about, slander, delete unwanted non conforming posters who do not go along with their too often immoral, redneck views. – Here is a great example of what the Democratic Conservatives are really still like in Canada.. They still do immorally, wrongfully delete all my posts at http://www.freedominion.ca/phpBB2/index.php and their clearly hypocritical pretense of freedom of speech is appalling  All the BS about democracy, still next indicates that the Conservatives are the biggest liars and abusers of other’s human rights. Simply just try to post disagreeing messages on the Conservative sites such as http://canadiancoalition.com/forum/ccd-forum.shtml or the Western Standard Blog http://westernstandard.blogs.com dominated by a minority of self centered, abusive rednecks and you for sure next will be firstly abused, slandered, personally bashed, attacked and next cut off, denied access to it. The self proclaimed Conservatives posters there in Alberta are still some of the biggest liars, human rights abusers even if they lie and claim they are Christians now too. It has been that way for the last 25 years in my real Albertan experiences now too. Even an Ostrich cannot hide from the realties of life forever. When you access the supposed free speech, democratic site of http://canadiancoalition.com/forum/ccd-forum.shtml the sysop accesses your own personal computer to find all of the personal information about you, an unlawful invasion of privacy without ones prior permission, and this the federal Conservative government and it’s Justice Minister, the RCMP should look into. The same sysop who himself is not impartial, but another one of these self proclaimed Conservative supporter, a basher and abuser, who makes slanderous personal attacks on the posters rather than deal with the facts presented, he even has admitted to spying now on others in one of his post too. I rightfully would like Alberta’s human rights also to review these matters too as well as the Justice department PS He had deleted my reply to him on this on him being an unlawful voyeur and other messages that were unfavorable to Alberta and it’s hypocritical democracy. I clearly had supported the Western Standard right of printing the cartoons under their right of free speech. But now I personally find out that their Internet site deliberately not only promotes hatred towards Canada, specially easterners but in an unfair and undemocratic process it deletes the unfavorable messages, towards Alberta too, such as this own below. This is both hypocritical and unacceptable on their parts. Please do Deal with it properly now. ” Western Standard’s invasion of other people’s computer is an illegal invasion of one’s personal privacy. – Comcast High-Speed Internet Acceptable Use Policy http://www.comcast.net/terms/use.jsp .. we will “access any other person’s computer or computer system, software, or data without their knowledge and consent; breach the security of another user; or attempt to circumvent the user authentication or security of any host, network, or account. This includes, but is not limited to, accessing data not intended for you, logging into or making use of a server or account you are not expressly authorized to access, or probing the security of other hosts, networks, or accounts; ” Scary scary stuff. Let the Alberta Human rights commissioner, Justice department also know that know this is illegal now for the other parties did not consent to this in writing. ” http://westernstandard.blogs.com/shotgun/2006/03/an_immense_and_.html#  Clearly here too the Conservatives are still the big hypocrites who themselves do not keep the laws they preach to the others. ” http://westernstandard.blogs.com/shotgun/2006/03/alberta_leaders.html#comment-15217299 ” and next July it will be the Conservative Stephen Harper’s turn to lose face and face a reelection, and likely only another minority government.” http://thenonconformer.blogspot.com/2006/08/non-conformer.html

So why is it some people still do think they can get away with any of it when clearly they cannot.

Safety and snow removal services

THE POLICE SAY THAT Slippery roads, thousands of traffic collisions  are fuelling the car insurance business where many of these drivers will face significant insurance rates increases next as a result..

BUT WHY ARE THE ROADS NOW VERY SLIPPERY? It is cause no one cleans the snow on roads fast eneough  or what jet  fuel is still being dumped by the planes on highways near airports ?

“There’s been more snow and more accidents through the month of December. The Calgary Police Service recorded 6,158 collisions in December, 605 of which involved injury. That’s a significant jump from 4,574 collisions in December 2007.”

YES THE CITY HALL CUTBACKS HAVE REDUCED SNOW REMOVAL SERVICES FIRSTLY

While SUVs and minivans being the most popular rental choices for winter driving.. However, once you’re behind the wheel of a rental vehicle, you may want to drive cautiously, given that you’ll likely be driving on all-season radials, not snow tires. Few, if any, car rental companies offer winter tires in Calgary. “Snow tires are mandatory only in Quebec due to a new law there that required motorists to install snow tires by Dec. 15 or face fines of up to $300. The  Quebec law has resulted in a shortage of snow tires across Canada.

Note this important  brief introduction to road safety and the police .. Yes  you always do have to drive safely, in control, not impaired as well and yes there are many, many different factors that now can cause a vehicular, automotive  accident, including but not limited to the actual daily road conditions, even the type of tires you have .. for  it is a fact that good tires lead to a safer drive, and so does a 4 wheel drive.  Next when you start to first drive at any day do first immediately test the road condition by coming to a planned sudden stop , and see firsthand how your car reacts accordingly.. then next do use this experience to set how you will drive the rest of the day too. And no matter what car, or tires you have, or who is the driver, if you do hit a patch of black ice, due clearly to the failure of others, such as the Governments, municipalities,  to apply salt and gravel on the icy / snowy  road, to falsely try to save money here,  it can be very, very hazardous now too. Give them the governememts firstly, municipalities,  a fine, ticket, they firstly do deserve it too.

Now hypothetical if you  do not drive at all you are less likely   to have an   accident, OF COURSE assuming another driver does not hit you while walking.. BUT why bother  to have cars if you are not to use them?

AND THEN WHAT THE  TOO OFTEN LYING, NO GOOD  POLICE BLAME THE CITIZENS FOR DRIVING TOO FAST IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS, WHEN IT IS THE FAULT OF THE PROVINCIAL, MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS FIRSTLY FOR NOT KEEPING THE ROADS ADEQUATELY CLEANED, SALTED, GRAVELED https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2008/12/22/cops-lie-too/

CP “VANCOUVER, B.C. – Residents and officials are struggling to deal with that most Canadian of inconveniences – snow – following near-record snowfall in this West Coast city in recent weeks.  And one senior who spent a week stuck in her home because she couldn’t get around the piles of snow in Vancouver says she’s disgusted that the city hasn’t done a better job clearing the streets.  Florence Corbett, 68, said she was finally able to get out Monday morning after her landlord arranged for someone to give her a ride to a bus stop so she could make it to the bank to pay her rent – five days late.  “I was able to take the bus but when I got off the bus I fell down because of the snow bank,” said Corbett, who uses a scooter to get around.  “It’s disgusting, no other words to describe it.”  Corbett said she’s been lucky because someone from the B.C. Coalition of People With Disabilities, where she volunteers, delivered groceries to her home.  Others who’ve been left to fend for themselves haven’t fared so well in a city unused to dealing with snow that sticks around. While Vancouver does get some snow, it usually melts almost as quickly as it falls.  “The city sure doesn’t look after us as far as cleaning the streets,” Corbett said.  “You can’t walk through the snow. What if you fall down? I’m a senior and if I fall down I don’t want to be breaking anything.”  Corbett, whose husband drove her around before he died 10 months ago, said she’s never experienced such isolation.  “What about people who are in wheelchairs, permanently, and they can’t get out? They’d love to go to the mall and see their friends,” she said, adding even a bus ride can be dangerous.  “It’s ridiculous the way they’ve cleared the streets because (bus drivers) can’t even lower the ramp so that you can get on the bus. And when you get off the bus, even when you’re an abled person, you can fall down because of the snow banks. It’s the way the snow is piled up on the curbs.  “I’ve seen many people fall when they get off the bus.”

Vancouver’s snowfall for December was just .7 centimetres shy of the December 1964 record, only because yet another dump of snow didn’t arrive until a few hours into Jan. 1.  The snow and cold weather caused at least three deaths in the Vancouver area and left emergency vehicles, including a fire truck and ambulance, stuck in the white stuff.  City spokeswoman Jennifer Young said this year’s snow removal budget was $1.4 million, but the total cost is expected to reach double that.  Mayor Gregor Robertson said crews have made an extraordinary effort to keep up, although Coun. Suzanne Anton will introduce a motion on Jan. 20 about whether the city can do a better job in the future.  “There’s some people who have been stuck in their homes for three weeks with no city services. They cannot get in, they can’t get out, they can’t get a taxi to come in, they can’t get garbage pickup, they can’t get grocery delivery.”  Anton said the city needs to be prepared for the next time.  “We have some very significant gaps in our service delivery in this kind of snow event and I think we need to hear from the public about that.”  In 1999, then Toronto mayor Mel Lastman became the butt of jokes when he called in the army to help clear the snow in that city so people could get to buses and streetcars, saying the city would otherwise have been at a standstill.  But Shelley Hourston, program director at the B.C. Coalition of People with Disabilities, said she will be speaking to city officials about providing resources for people who become isolated in their homes during massive snowfalls.  “It’s been horrendous for people,” she said.  “Their community is when they go for their walk to go get their loaf of bread or their litre of milk. I think this has really raised some issues for Vancouver.” http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090105/national/wea_disabled_snow

and how is the snow removal services , road CLEARING services in the rest of Canada, pretentious? in Alberta and in Ontario now too?

CALGARY COPS LEAD THE COUNTRY IN GIVING OUT TRAFFIC TICKETS PER  CITIZENS AND YET SPEEDING IS NOT THE MAJOR CAUSE OF DEATHS, BUT DRUNK DRIVERS ARE. AND NOT ENOUGH IS DONE BY THE POLICE IN THIS AREA OF CATCHING DRUNK DRIVERS. BUT IT IS EASIER TO COLLECT REVENUE FROM SPEEDING THAN IT IS TO CATCH  A DRUNK DRIVER FOR THE POLICE. SPEEDING TICKETS ARE MORE OF A FINANCIAL GIFTS TO THE COURTS, JUDGES, LAWYERS, INSURANCE FIRMS.

In realities the number of vehicle  accidents STILL have been increased, but statistics show also so did the number of drunk, impaired  drivers too.

Drunk driving arrests jump. Calgary Herald February 6, 2009 –  More than 65 people –three times as many as last year –were arrested in January for drunk driving in red deer as part of a stepped-up check stop program. From Jan. 1 to 31, Red Deer RCMP, along with Alberta sheriffs and the Alberta office of traffic safety, arrested 65 people, compared with 20 people in 2008. Const. Sabrina Grunow says the difference in numbers is due to increased funding for check stops.  http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Drunk+driving+arrests+jump/1259164/story.html

It is estimated that 70 percent of adults drink alcohol and at least 15 percent of Canadians are alcoholics.  According to the 2004 Canadian Addiction Survey, 79.3% of the Canadian population aged 15 years and older consumed alcohol in the year prior to the survey. Most Canadians drink17% of current drinkers were considered high-risk drinkers.   According to the study on the costs of substance abuse in Canada, it is estimated that alcohol abuse accounted for $3.3 billion in direct health care costs in 2002.(18)  Hospitalizations and deaths are two key indicators that show the toll of alcohol abuse on Canadian society.http://www.parl.gc.ca/information/library/PRBpubs/prb0620-e.htm#aconsumption

Drunk driving check stops thus should be enforced all year  Drunk driving check stops thus should be enforced all year not just during December and January. Increased funding for check stops is not required also, merely reduce the number of speeding/traffic cops and put them mostly rather on drunk driving detail. Since we know that most of accidents are not even caused by speeding now in the first place too. Speeding tickets and related quotas  tend to be a false revenue generating items . Installing a 15-hundred-dollar breath-sampling device and ignition interlock on vehicles seems to be not totally effective since it seem many now have learned how to by pass it.. by having someone else breath into it, or ..

The effective job creation programs  should  rather be done through the established job creation progrmas and not by the police for the police..

OPP says highway crash numbers up this winter  Sunday, February 8th, 2009 9:25 am ( but they lie as to the reasons) If you have been stuck in more closures on the highways this year because of crashes, you’ve been part of a growing trend.   Crashes on OPP highways have been skidding out of control this year, topping last years list.  The OPP is reporting an increase in crashes this winter compared to last. OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford says that during the months of December and January the number of collisions has risen.  The OPP responded to over 17,000 crashes on OPP patrolled highways in the last two months. Sgt. Woodford ( Falsely) says not to blame the weather for the collisions, but drivers not driving according to road conditions, such as speeding and following too closely. While the number of crashes are up, there has been a slight decline in automobile deaths and serious injuries.  47 deaths occurred on OPP patrolled highways compared to 48 last year and 65 two years ago. Sgt. Woodford says this means most crashes are preventable. While the weather may now be getting warmer, the OPP is telling drivers to pay more attention to the roads.    http://www.680news.com/news/more.jsp?content=20090208_091710_46752

Beware. Lying spin doctors at work.. especially by the cops, RCMP too it seems.. Even a chief of police mostly lies about the causes of accidents.. firstly you cannot takes these police facts as reliable statistics even.. they are just one person’ s opinion as to the cause of most of the accidents, they are not the actual facts….

IN FACT POLICE ARE TO LAZY TO COLLECT, COMPILE,  ACCURATE DETAILED STATISTICS..  THE CALGARY CHIEF OF POLICE ONLY GETS A COMPUTER PRINTOUT OF HOW MANY MORE TICKETS WERE ISSUED THIS YEAR OVER LAST YEAR PER AREAS..

Accident -Traffic Ticket Facts. Less than 10% of all police officers in Ontario receive specific, detailed accident investigation training. NEVER MIND IN ALBERTA.   The failure of others to clear the highways adequately has contributed to the poor driving conditions firstly. Secondly the lack of winter tires does not help. Most of the car accident deaths were likely related to impaired drivers now too.  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/02/11/the-whole-truth-comes-out/

You also did notice the cops do too often still  not  practice what they preach to others they themselves still do like to speed, and how many like to drink ALOCHOL and drive still too?

Up to no good even in 2009

Do I really believe that our bad Conservative Prime Minister will change for the good? NO. Now how clearer can I be about that too.. Zebras do not change their stripes as well..  Where also is the promised Conservative accountability, transparency, a conservative government with higher moral standards, that does not lie, break promises? Justice for all.. What non existent?

“He will say anything to retain power.” “I don’t have confidence in him to deliver what he says now, because what we have experienced with Mr. Harper is that he will say anything and then reverse himself,”    When it comes to politics, NDP Leader Jack Layton also says 2008 taught him one certainty: don’t trust the prime minister. , Layton also now says that all hope that Stephen Harper’s minority Conservative government was willing to work with other parties to get things done has died.

Who on earth would dream Stephen Harper would now  choose to ‘retire’, and why would the Conservatives want to subject themselves to a leadership review?  Is anybody paying attention out there?

In spite of the Conservative spins the new Liberal leader really cannot be seen as another identical indecisive weakling as Stephane Dion was, he was all talk but not action, therefore the new Liberal leader  with quite certainly will next kick Stephen Harper OUT OF OFFICE and be forced to go along with the coalition

Harper and the Conservatives are overwhelmingly popular compared to any other party in Canada but only in the mid west and Quebec, not in the East , so he Harper can never hope to have a majority government without the Quebec support, which for sure he never will get as an Anglophone, and that province also next cannot  be purchased at any time for any relatively small outlay.  Three strikes and you are out anyway..

So who is it that wants’ Harper to go?  Not the Conservatives Party, certainly..  but likely Stephen  Harper himself and the coalition, and  Harper does not want to be an opposition leader after he has been a Prime Minister. Harper he knows the chance of him next being reelected as   Prime Minister once he has been removed is non existent as well

I have to admit I am surprised as to how many persons have not seen from the start what a bad person, unacceptable one, an unacceptable bully Stephen Harper really is. Surely they cannot all be that dumb, inexperienced?

Hey Stephen Harper he  is just classical psychology study now too of an abuser, including his  rivalry, abuse,  and likely violence next. If you notice the following warning signs in a person  over a period of time, the potential for increased unacceptable physical  violence by them next also exists:

The Classical symptoms :
a history of aggressive, abnormal, offensive behavior
serious drug or alcohol abuse
gang membership or strong desire to be accepted by the gang, to be in a gang
threatening others regularly
trouble controlling feelings like anger
withdrawal from good friends and from the normal, usual, acceptable  activities
visibly feeling rejected or alone
having been a victim of bullying, or now being a bully themselves
poor school or job performance
history of discipline problems or frequent run-ins with authority
feeling constantly disrespected
failing to acknowledge the feelings  rights of others
or failing to acknowledge  the abuse of others
access to or fascination with weapons, especially guns
When you recognize these unacceptable future increased violence warning signs in someone else deal with it.   Hoping that someone else will deal with the situation is still false way out.
So the still mostly useless Albertan Prime Minister Stephen Harper and federal Justice Minister Rob Nicholson MP want to get tough on the young offenders, instead of on the parents, show to us all how ignorantly they are and very poor parents now too.. They clearly themselves firstly need to be educated.

If you are being verbally, physically, sexually abused do not hesitate to bring the matter into the open, tell your colleagues, friends and neighbors about it, your church pastors, elders too, congregation members, ands even do call the police. Public exposure and prosecution of the guilty persons always serves everyone’s best interests.

Get  educated now, and know more on  how to effectively deal with abuses, Bullies and abusive persons today.

What the bad guys still do not like the honest, decent guys to use their own right of free speech to all too?

and what are you going to come after me next too again?

“MP’s mailout proves he’s just being muzzled

Our Conservative MP has sent to all households, at taxpayers’ expense, a so-called newsletter (trimmed in the Conservative colour of choice, blue), which mentions virtually nothing about Brant, the riding he represents.

Like all Harper MPs, he is told what to say and write and, as the message from Conservative Party headquarters must be applicable to all parts of Canada, little mention is made of an MP’s riding or the MP’s constituents.

The content of the newsletter, apart from a generic piece about Remembrance Day, is simply Conservative Party propaganda with, most oddly, no mention at all of the Prime Minister’s decision to prorogue Parliament after sitting only 12 days.

A shaky start for an MP who said he wouldn’t be muzzled — all Conservative MPs are muzzled by Stephen Harper and our MP is clearly no exception.

Andrew Hunter Brantford ”  http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1372571

We the citizens still do  have our right of free speech to complain even in writing about all perversity, injustice and have the rightful expectations to insure all of our elected members act immediately, properly on it too. Even in Canada the right of free speech is a myth.. and this really is not a funny joke..

Public exposure and persecution of the guilty persons serves everyone’s best interest still too..

– I have often been wrongfully abused on Alberta’s immoral conservative blogs too.. as I have detailed on the net fully too now.

– I have had even Conservative MPS trying to shut me up, falsely telling me not even to write to them anymore such as Moore and Kenney as I next detailed and posted on the net too.

As to “Is Rob a party leader in waiting? Gazing into the future of our MP, and other Niagara prognostications”   http://www.niagarafallsreview.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1371495

and while some others may write about the supposed virtues of Hon. Rob Nicholson, M.P. as the new POSSIBLE PM replacement still  when Richard Johnson Parliamentary Assistant to Hon. Rob Nicholson, M.P. Minister of Justice & Attorney General of Canada he writes back to me for the first you know I have struck a key chord.. or it is campaign time?

Since he has been in the federal office in Ottawa  this is the first time Rob Nicholson MP that he has acknowledged any letter of mine ,, you can tell it’s re-election time thus?

Canada’s too often bad cops, for  real actions speak louder to me than any words.

When even the  police chiefs, police personnel  even are also known to play dirty politics, who can you trust then?

” CP TORONTO – Accusations of high-level political interference, petty vindictiveness and tarnished reputations will be on public display this week as Ontario’s top cop heads to court to force an adjudicator he accuses of bias to step down from a police disciplinary hearing.  The Divisional Court case Thursday that has entangled Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino comes years after an act of domestic violence that, at most, would have been a media footnote.  Instead, a years-long process was set in motion that has raised troubling questions about the politics of justice in Ontario.  A dust storm of allegations – witness tampering, personal reprisals, professional wrongdoing, legal chess games and judicial intimidation and judicial bias – still swirls.  Court files and hearing documents show it all began when a frightened Susan Cole called 911 one evening in April 2004.  She said her estranged husband, provincial police Const. Robert Alaire, had taken a baseball bat to her car at their home in Gananoque, Ont.  Det.-Sgt. Mark Zulinski and other officers responded. They asked her to leave her home. They did not arrest Alaire.  Cole complained. Her husband, she said, should have been arrested.  “It should have been a slam dunk,” Cole said in an interview. “(Instead) it’s a nightmare. It’s just not right.”  Cole’s complaint reached the civilian agency that oversees the province’s police. It asked for an investigation.  Two senior officers in the Ontario Provincial Police’s professional standards bureau – Supt. Ken MacDonald and Insp. Alison Jevons – eventually concluded proper procedure had not been followed.  They recommended “education” rather than sanctions.  The union that represents provincial police officers was outraged.  “We may have the ammo to take down MacDonald,” the union’s lawyer, Gavin May, wrote in an email to Karl Walsh, the president of the Ontario Provincial Police Association, in August 2006.  “We may get two for the price of one.”  The association formally complained about the two officers two weeks later. The complaint landed on the desk of Ontario’s top cop – freshly appointed Commissioner Julian Fantino.  Fantino was also dealing with fallout from his plans to restructure the 6,000-member police force he now headed. Someone was leaking the plans to town council in Caledon, northwest of Toronto, and some local politicians didn’t like what they were hearing.  Fantino concluded the leak must have come from MacDonald, witnesses testified.  In a parking lot on March 1, 2007, Fantino said to another senior officer: “Will you execute the disloyal one, or should I?”  Fantino later explained the comment as humour, or “appropriate” police speak, a way of saying he wanted the leak stopped and an end to the distractions it was causing.  What he didn’t know was that Chief Supt. Bill Grodzinski made notes of the conversation.  Fantino charged MacDonald and Jevons, both of whom he transferred out of the professional standards unit without speaking to them or their supervisors, under the Police Services Act.  The two officers stood accused of misconduct and deceit related to their investigation of the response to Cole’s 911 call.  Any suggestion he laid the charges to appease the police union or to get back at MacDonald for the leak were “hysterical nonsense,” Fantino has said.  The first two associates Fantino appointed to preside over the hearing against MacDonald and Jevons both stepped down over issues of potential bias.  Months passed before Leonard Montgomery, a retired Superior Court justice with 33 years on the bench, would step into the increasingly mucky swamp as adjudicator.  Called to testify, Grodzinski produced his notes, including those of Fantino asking about executing the “disloyal one.”  The next morning, the officer found out he was being transferred.  Fantino later said he thought he was doing Grodzinski a favour, although he expressed disdain about the “cheat notes.”  “People who know me do not hold onto these notes for later retribution,” he said.  Grodzinski was blunt.  “I viewed the transfer . . . as an immediate punishment, sanction, reprisal – use what word you wish,” Grodzinski said.  Intervention from Deb Newman, deputy minister with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, undid the forced transfer.  Julian Falconer, acting for Jevons and MacDonald, denounces the transfer threat as nothing short of witness tampering.  The hearings against MacDonald and Jevons proceeded amid increasing acrimony between the prosecution led by Brian Gover, a well regarded, experienced former Crown lawyer acting for Fantino, and the defence.  The defence argued to have the case thrown out as an abuse of process.  During hearings in October in which Fantino insulted Falconer and tensions ran high, Fantino changed some of his testimony. The notion that someone had tipped him off during a lunch break led Montgomery to remark that he was “upset.”  Gover filed a motion – Fantino was in the middle of being cross-examined – asking Montgomery to step down as biased.  He would take the matter to court if Montgomery refused, Gover said, adding the attorney general backed his position.  Within a few hours, the ministry disavowed any such backing and said Attorney General Chris Bentley had not been involved.  A stunned Montgomery branded Gover’s comments as attempted judicial intimidation and refused to step down.  If the ministry had indeed said it wanted him off the case, the political interference was astounding and the conflicts of interest “endless,” Montgomery wrote.  Gover remained adamant the attorney general wanted Montgomery gone and had pledged its support.  Falconer, in the interim, demanded his interrupted cross-examination of Fantino go ahead. Fantino’s new lawyer, Tom Curry, asked Divisional Court to stay the proceedings until the recusal motion was decided.   The court refused to interfere. Montgomery was perhaps just “calling a spade a spade,” the judge said.  Fantino appealed.  A three-judge panel split in his favour, staying his cross-examination until after the recusal motion is dealt with on Thursday.  In the interim, MacDonald and Jevons sit quietly through hours of hearings, seemingly no closer to having their case decided.  Cole, who said the two officers were the only ones who ever helped her, said she was dumbfounded at what her complaint unleashed almost five years ago.  All she ever wanted, she said, was for provincial police to implement a sensible policy when officers are involved in domestic violence.  “It’s gone on to actually hurt some really good people. Like it’s just endless.”” Nasty Fantino battle started with baseball bat, winds through courts

Here are other interesting blogs about the bad police in Ottawa and in Ontario you can look into more further too.

OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino has lost an attempt to remove a retired judge presiding over a high-profile disciplinary hearing. The Ontario Divisional Court ruled yesterday that Justice Leonard Montgomery did not show bias against Commissioner Fantino in comments made as the adjudicator of a sometimes fractious hearing. “The matters complained of do not give rise to a reasonable apprehension of bias,” said the Divisional Court panel in a 3-0 decision. The court ordered the disciplinary hearing to resume in front of Judge Montgomery and indicated that it would be “conjecture” to suggest he would not act properly in the future, given the removal attempt by Commissioner Fantino. Otherwise, any side unhappy with a judge “could attempt to remove an unwanted judicial officer simply by bringing a complaint of bias against the officer,” the court said. “That would be inimical to the proper working of the justice system.” Julian Falconer, who represents Supt. MacDonald and Insp. Jevons, said his clients want to resume the hearing and the cross-examination of Commissioner Fantino as soon as possible. “This has been hanging over their heads for years. Apparently limitless (taxpayer’s)  resources have been poured into delaying this matter,” Mr. Falconer said, noting that there have been three separate court hearings related to the attempt to remove Judge Montgomery.http://www.nationalpost.com/news/canada/story.html?id=1375420
