In Canada, especially in Ontario and Ontario, we do even have a very great problem with the treatment of older patients in the hospital https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2013/02/06/so-you-think-you-may-enjoy-your-retirement-instead-of-being-murdered-in-hospitals/

Dr. Nataros claims that members of the McGill Faculty of Medicine are attempting to defame his name because he reported an incident in which serious errors were made by senior doctors. Nataros says that the incident, which took place in November 2012, and is still under investigation by an independent ombudsmen, had near fatal consequences. “It was more than just the wrong treatment, there was a missed diagnosis that made it infinitely worse and the patient almost died,” said Nataros. “It was only very quick treatment and a transfer to a tertiary care centre that saved that patient’s life.” According to Dr. Nataros, his decision to report the errors made by senior physicians prompted these doctors to target him with a barrage of personal attacks. He notes that in a meeting last December, two of the physicians arrived with numerous letters collected from different doctors stating that they found it difficult to work with Dr. Nataros. “The accusations were that ‘Alex is challenging; ‘Alex is argumentative;’ ‘Alex does not respect authority,’” said Dr. Nataros. “But, there has never been an issue with my clinical competency or my patient care.”

UPAC confirmed Wednesday that Elbaz – the former associate director general of the MUHC – is in custody and will be charged Thursday. Duhaime — the former CEO of SNC-Lavalin – will turn himself in to Surete du Quebec headquarters Thursday morning, He has already been charged with fraud. Ben Aissa — another former executive at SNC-Lavalin — has already been arrested and questioned by police for his possible role in other plots. All five are wanted for fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and related charges. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2013/02/27/high-profile-executives-involved-in-the-construction-of-the-mcgill-university-superhospital-are-charged/

MONTREAL — A phone conversation involving a senior executive at engineering giant SNC-Lavalin provided one of the first clues that Montreal’s new McGill University Health Centre superhospital was at the centre of an intricate bribery scheme. During the taped conversation, Ben Aïssa — then the head of SNC-Lavalin’s construction division — was also heard referencing the use of a “contract” to disguise money transfers involving the Canadian hospital. That contract, which involved a Bahamas-based company called Sierra Asset Management, was worth $30 million. Ben Aïssa was allegedly recorded saying that “only 22 (million) was paid.” “It has been shown that this money, attributed in (company) accounts to a gas project in Algeria, served materially to influence Quebec bureaucrats with a view to awarding the contract for the modernization of the MUHC to SNC-Lavalin,” wrote Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Jean-Frédérick Gagnon http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Phone+conversation+tipped+authorities+MUHC+bribery+affidavit/8582210/story.html#ixzz2XT7OxVpYhttp://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Phone+conversation+tipped+authorities+MUHC+bribery+affidavit/8582210/story.html

MONTREAL —Arthur Porter’s arrest in Panama was the main topic of discussion at MUHC hospitals again. Maybe the arrest of the former boss will finally clear up unanswered questions about the financial mismanagement at the MUHC and the alleged fraud in the awarding of the superhospital contract. Many nurses blame Porter, the former CEO of the MUHC, for the financial mess that has resulted in budget cuts, job losses and bumping, which has been terrible for morale, http://www.montrealgazette.com/health/Lack+confidence+MUHC+Arthur+Porter+wake/8446669/story.html

“I work at the McGill General – the administrative staff is a NIGHTMARE – they run the hospital. They run the nurses, the support staff, the DOCTORS. Why? Because they have a strong union. You say one negative comment their way and all of a sudden you are sitting with a lawyer, a union rep, and they have disappeared for 3 months of “burnout leave”.. they have no idea what a real burnout is. Everyone, including doctors, are afraid to say the wrong word in the fear of losing their job, their license, their reputation as medical PROFESSIONALS. And it’s these same secretaries who will tell their patients the “stupid doctor is an hour late” … when in fact the doctor just ran out of an emergency case cause their was no doctor available there and the secretary was too lazy to find out where the doctor actually was. I could give many a horror story.”
.
“It’s the McGll pencil pushers who are deciding where to cut and obviously each and every one of them is necessary to deliver health care; at least in their oun minds. Perhaps it’s time the government hired a good management consultant company to look at all non-medical positions at hospitals and see if they are really necessary. There could be great savings to be poured back in to real health care.’ “Now rather get rid of 18 administrative pencil pushers instead of the nurses. Nurses are needed more than the administrative pencil pushers and the administrator earn more than the nurses… .this is a HOSPITAL, we need nurses ! ! ! ” “It’s a huge shame that in the end, it’s the lower employees who suffer, and most importantly, the patients are paying for it.” “Fire the administrators responsible for this mess, not nurses who actually do useful work.”
‘
The least needed remain untouched while the most needed are cut. McGll’s Mr Rinfret has been at Porter elbow through this whole mess making sure the right people were met and the right doors opened, how he is still there(or actually promoted) is amazing!
‘
I’ve never felt more sick about living in Montreal, than I do. While healthcare (and education) are seriously underfunded, we are overtaxed. While the average citizen suffers, the corrupt politicians, the engineers, the city bureaucrats and the mob prosper. Taxpayer money ends up stuffed in political party safes, in off-shore accounts and mafia coffers. I only wish that the Harper Feds would step in and seize control of Quebec and Montreal. Our municipal and provincial leaders have sold us down the drain and we have let them get away with this. Quebec has more similarities with a third world country than it does with the Western world and I doubt it will ever change. I just want to get out of here and never come back, even to visit.

MONTREAL — Six Montreal physicians and professors of medicine are speaking out against the way the McGill University Health Centre is run, charging that the MUHC has become “dysfunctional,” that its academic teaching mission is being given short shrift and that the superhospital planning is a mess. Dissident group notes that the $1.3-billion super hospital under construction in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce will not be equipped with teaching rooms or an auditorium for medical students and, as a result, “teaching facilities may have to be rented to give lectures.”
“Furthermore, it is clear that the superhospital will be a smaller building with fewer beds and resources,” the group adds. “Many services have been abandoned, outpatient facilities will be minimal and many medical units still have no idea of how they will be accommodated in the new hospital. The health implications of these changes in hospital function have not yet been addressed.”
Dr. David Morris, a professor of medicine, obstetrics and gynecology at McGill said in an interview. “These disasters do not occur overnight.” Dr. Andrey Cybulsky, chief of nephrology at the MUHC, said he decided to sign the comment piece because he objects to the MUHC’s “top-down planning process without really much consultation.” its.
Gwendolyn Nacos, a member of the board of directors who was elected by the population, declined to comment on the letter, saying the policy of the board does not allow for individual members to comment to the news media.
The other signatories to the open letter are Dr. Barry Posner, director of the polypeptide hormone laboratory at McGill; Dr. Mark Sherman, interim director of endocrinology at the MUHC; and Dr. Walter Gregory; a senior physician at the MUHC.

Not much of a surprise? The tip of the iceberg is being revealed only as the overall depth of corruption will take much more time apparently to uncover, corruptions that likely permeates the whole project. Birds of feathers tend to flock together. And no one should tell us that these initial suspected persons, now were even just isolated individuals acting on their own without the vast help and knowledge of any others now too. Higher education never insures one’s good moral standings. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/mcgill-administrators-likley-run-their-hospitals-the-same-way/
.
Premier P Marois, Quebec government’s proposal to create a new watchdog to oversee universities and Hospitals now as well is valid, natural.. as some of the biggest crooks are even the educated folks.. and our Doctors, Nurses, Hospitals and the Police, RCMP are also now very poorly managed too ALL AT THE TAXPAYER’S EXPENSES. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2013/01/26/education-does-not-insure-morality-nor-are-professionals-better-persons/

MONTREAL – Former executive committee chair Frank Zampino was, for a time, the most powerful man in Montreal, according to the latest witness Rosaire Sauriol at the Charbonneau Commission — Rosaire Sauriol a witness who may have exerted considerable influence of his own at city hall. the inquiry lawyer Denis Gallant suggested that Sauriol was a major player in that system and the true second-in-command to Zampino.

The province’s corruption inquiry has heard that crooked financing schemes also permeated the federal level, via testimony Wednesday from a repentant construction-industry executive.

The federal Transport minister asks for review of possible ethics breach by even a federal judge http://cbc.sh/CRWx3bM
.
” What is important here is that he testified that same schemes of illegal political financing, collusion, bid rigging, fraud , breach of trust, price fixing, were also going on on Federal level! So this means that probably millions of federal tax dollars were also stolen and that illegal donations were also practiced on federal level at the time!!!! Where is the RCMP? “
.
The already proven cost ineffective RCMP likely or clearly has also abused often taxpayer’s funds itself so it is, was in no position to investigate others.. these corruptions have been on going the last 50 years with the useless Montreal, Quebec and the RCMP police likely part of the problem.. sleeping with the enemy.
.
But do note this the bad Police are still very capable of arresting the poor helpless, defenceless students.. this week 60 arrested in Montreal as tuition protests resume .. so it is no wonder students despise the police and governments.
