Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis

Toronto Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis is calling for speed limiters to be fitted to cars in order to prevent them from exceeding 150 km/h, in the wake of a fatal accident on Monday in which a speeding car slammed into a concrete pole, splitting the vehicle in half. He would not be so extreme,  hypocritical if he  had also demanded that breathalyzers be also installed on all new cars, as the impaired drivers still cause most of the accidents and not the car speeders, and also now if he rightfully demanded that there be no spending of any taxpayers money on any booze entertainment in any of the governments, since we can all readily know the harmful effect of alcohol on society in general as well. He also should demand also that the police in all parts of Canada pursue drunk drivers year around, police included and not just part time, or occasionally.. and he now should deal with the much too many drunk cops, politicians too, civil and public servants that  we have employed in Canada now too.

Drug or alcohol impaired vehicular driving by men and women and not the actual driving speed are still the key factor in the majority of the traffic accidents … http://thenonconformer.blogspot.com/2007/10/policing-facts-related-to-vehicular.html

AND IF YOU THINK I TRUST ANYTHING THE RCMP SAYS OR DOES, DO GET REAL.. ESPECIALLY WHEN TOO MANY AT LEAST 50 % OF CANADA’S POLICE OFFICERS TOO OFTEN ARE DRUNK.. RCMP INCLUDED.. THEIR EXCUSE IS THEY DRINK ALCOHOL DUE TO THE JOB PRESSURES.. WELL I DO NOT USE THAT FALSE EXCUSE. WE CAN READILY KNOW THE VICES THAT OFTEN FOLLOW DRINKING ALCOHOL https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/09/02/drink-alcohol-and-die/

Subject: Wishing you all the best of the seasons, and merry Christmas and a Happy new year for you and all of your loved ones too.

And you did know that many people tend to get more sick around these holidays and often die as well.

Which now reminds me can you please tell me specially the statistics per province, and city, as to the actual number of people who had died in 2010 due to a hospital acquired sickness? Specifically
2: Gastritis- food poisonings
3: VRE

As you do know already I had the very bad, drastic misfortune of visiting three very bad hospitals in the last year, the Montreal West Island General Hospital, The Montreal Verdun Hospital, and the Montreal Royal Victoria Hospital.

As you are undeniably aware the medical personal themselves, the Doctors workers, workers are directly responsible for the majority of hospital acquired sickness acquired by the citizens next and in one hospital triage recently as I saw firsthand too at least 25 percent of the patients were diagnosed with a contagious sickness too.

In fact a Rosemount CLSC nurse was apparently spreading the gastritis virus amongst the very elderly patients she was visiting.

What I had also now fully failed to realize still was why when I next had the opportunity to visit 4 other Hospitals, the Montreal Hotel Dieux, the Montreal  St Luc Hospital ( I spoke too soon) , the LaSalle Angrignon Hospital, and the Montreal Notre Dame Hospital. I there next could not find one serious item to complain about , for in fact the medical staff were friendly, competent, polite too, very adequate all  in start contrast to what I had seen and had detailed, experienced before with my Father .

These bad  crooks continue confidently to do such immoral acts on seniors cause they know they can get away with it. I will not let them!

PS I would seriously request that you review the by weekly food distribution, Meal on wheels,  given out to the Montreal  Rosemont elderly persons by the Rosemount Social services. I saw it myself, it sold for 4 dollars to the patients, and it was still unhealthy, preposterous too. It consisted of a dried up small meat pie, 2 cookies, a small apple pudding, and 2 small piece of vegetable. It all together costs about a $1.50 to make up and was sold at 4 dollars.. get real!!!! The grocery chain LOBLOW sells a decent frozen  meal even for $ 2.50 and you charged $ 4.00 for junk food!!!

All of the governments, Canada wide are to blame for perpetuating the health-care mess, our bad health care systems

All of the governments, Canada wide  are to  blame  for perpetuating the health-care mess, our bad health care systems are collapsing under the weight of a medical incompetency and medical mismanagements. Our medicare  care is still broken, broken badly and needs immediate attention . People will still have to wait for needed surgeries.

Even the Alberta Health Services – the super board created in 2008 to run the province’s health-care system – gobbles up billions of dollars, funnels it through layers and layers of managers and administrators, and gives whatever little is left over to caring for patients.

Visit the Montreal West lakeshore General  Hospital penthouse and see the life of luxury the Hospital’s administrators  workers work in.

Alberta Health Services has finally DECADES TOO LATE TOO upped the number of surgeries performed in the province so the announcement made still only  represents a roughly two per cent bump. A drop in the bucket. “ I wonder if Jack Davis, former chair of the now defunct Calgary health region has to “wait’ for his $250,000 per year pension cheque, all for 6 years of dismal and sub-par performance on behalf of the region. Probably not. Stelmach just doesn’t get it,yes people are upset by the state of Alberta’s health care system, however what is upsetting them even more is the continued and seemingly ever continuing mishandling of the problem. ”The new procedures conducted throughout Alberta will include cancer, heart, knee and cataract surgeries. THE REST OF THE PROVINCES IN CANADA SHOULD ALSO FOLLOW THESE BASICS. Always make sure patients are funded first. Former premier Ralph Klein, after leaving office, admitted his biggest regret during his 14 years as premier was caving to the special interest groups and letting them derail his plans to reform health care. “ “Now convince me that you’re REALLY trying to provide services instead of merely responding to public pressure before another election. “ “ Its absolutely incredible the “new promises” that elected officials can make when in front of the firing squad with their jobs on the line and the sweat just pouring off their eyebrows…….ISN’T IT “ “ The problem here is that most of the 5,000 surgeries have already been announced. “The worst part of all of this is that they think Albertan’s are honestly this dense. It’s great that they think they can buy us off with pocket change ($16.7 Million) while making their friends rich with unproven Carbon Capture money ($2 Billion), friends are hard to come buy, peasants are a dime a dozen.”

When Premier Ed Stelmach also now  says “there is no crisis in health care” — his legislature mantra last week — he’s speaking against the direct experience of thousands of Albertans. http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/phoney+news+becomes+good+news/3950143/story.html

Their cold indiffference to the sufferings of others is totally unacceptable. He is just like the other bad premiers, health ministers who only care about their own good welfare and no one else’s! Put them now rightfully all into jail for the criminal abuse of the Citizens, the neglect of their good welfare, health.

Hospital patients are often at least partially immobilized after they undergo a medical procedure. Even a relatively small operation like a minor knee surgery can leave a person bed-ridden for a short time. When a person cannot move around regularly, there is a chance that blood clots will develop in the large veins inside their arms and legs. If these clots break loose and travel through the body, they can end up in the patient’s lungs and cause serious medical complications or death. This is called a pulmonary embolism. Many of the blood clots that people develop while staying in the hospital could easily be prevented.

Hamilton’s St. Joe’s Hospital  reports 12th C. diff-related death. Another patient with C. difficile at St. Joseph’s hospital has died, bringing the number of deaths during the current outbreak to 12. The total number of C. diff cases rose to 83 late last week — 51 cases in which the infection was acquired at the hospital and 32 who came in with it. The outbreak was declared on Nov. 1 after individual cases of C. diff were noted in October. C. diff is an infection causing severe diarrhea, nausea and painful cramping and can result in serious complications and death. Hospitals normally have about five C. diff cases per month. In 2008, Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington had a large outbreak in which 91 infected patients died.  An outbreak would be declared if there are three hospital-acquired cases in one ward or one unit within seven days, At Hamilton Health Sciences, two of its hospitals, St. Peter’s and the General, have no C. diff cases, said spokesperson Agnes Bongers. Both the Juravinski Hospital and the McMaster University Medical Centre have fewer than five C. diff cases each.  http://www.thespec.com/news/local/article/308683–st-joe-s-reports-12th-c-diff-related-death

All C. difficile  outbreaks and related deaths at all hopsitals must be immediately reported…

C. difficile breaks out at B.C. hospital. A previous C. difficile outbreak at the hospital ended last summer, involving a total of 49 hospital acquired cases. In two of those cases, C. difficile was attributed to the death of the patient and in another two cases C. difficile was a contributing factor. All patients had underlying conditions. Housekeeping was a factor in the previous outbreak, but Marshall explained that the current situation has been attributed to a hand hygiene issue.Read more: http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/01/03/b-c-hospital-declares-c-difficile-outbreak/#ixzz1A31azxi7

B.C. hospital “There once was a time when a person went to a hospital to get better..now the odds of surviving a stay are worse than las vegas betting..meanwhile the health executives are getting bonus’s for saving money. Nanaimo Hospital is filthy. Take a walk down the halls and see the stains, spills, and dust bunnies. The private cleaners are stretched beyond their limits, given more things to do than there are hours in the day, all so VIHA can save money. Health care has gone back 100 years in quality since the Liberals came to power. It’s BC’s “dirty little secret”, but in the end is costing lives.”

Weird judge overturns a man’s last will and testament

BC court overturns man’s last will and testament  A BC Supreme Court judge overturned a man’s last will and testament Tuesday because he says a will must be based on “contemporary moral standards. Will that cut out daughters overturned. Court overturns will of man who left everything to his son

Contemporary moral values and who decides now what they are? The NDP, Conservatives, Liberal, BQ? a Judge or Parliament?

You can read about many, many persons, daughters left out of the father’s will in the old testament even for thousands of years now too.

I too may sympathize with the daughters left out of the will but my sympathy does not make it a Law.

But now  what happen to the long accepted moral standard a man is the head of his castle.

A MAN’S HOME IS HIS CASTLE – “This saying is as old as the basic concepts of English common law.,”A proverbial expression that illustrates the principle of individual privacy, which is fundamental to the privacy, justice system as well. “You are the boss in your own house and nobody can tell you what to do there. No one can enter your home without your permission. The proverb has been traced back ‘Stage of Popish Toys’ . In 1644, English jurist Sir Edward Coke (1552-1634) was quoted as saying: ‘For a man’s house is his castle, et domus sua cuique tutissimum refugium’ (‘One’s home is the safest refuge for all’).

The principle of a MAN’S  individual rights and privacy,   is fundamental to the North American system of governments where it also it prohibits “unreasonable searches and seizures.”  And what the judge did not know this too? Or did not care?

It has been a legal precept in England, since at least the 17th century, that no one may enter a home, which would typically then have been in male ownership, unless by invitation. This was established as common law by the lawyer and politician Sir Edward Coke  in The Institutes of the Laws of England, 1628:”For a man’s house is his castle, et domus sua cuique est tutissimum refugium [and each man’s home is his safest refuge].” In England, the word ‘Englishman’ often replaces man.”‘An Englishman’s home (or occasionally, house) is his castle’ is most often cited these days in articles in the right-wing press that bemoan the apparent undermining of the perceived principle that a man can do as he pleases in his own house, which they hold up as an ancient right.

The judge is guilty of theft, a false sesizure, privacy invasion!

Where did they even  get the weird feminist  judge?

Albertan solicitor general attempts to quash the citizens democratic rights to complain.

Progressive Conservative Albertan solicitor general attempts to quash the citizens democratic rights to complain. A clearly inadequate, pretentious justice Minister, but is the Liberal one in Ontario now any different?

Now why are the clearly foolish Canadian  justice ministers, cops, so foolish still  that they do now even think that they can turn the clock backwards and continue again doing the very same bad things now that they all have even been exposed for what they realy are world wide even.. they are bad people who abuse citizens and obstruct justice and do need to be put into prison themselves.

Alberta clearly a police state.. where I got arrested for failing to pay a speeding ticket, 3 tickets from the same cop in Alberta even, and twice on the same spot in Canmore, Alberta by the RCMP, I next got no tickets for decades in Quebec and elsewhere. Ironically the same Conservatives who preach the letter of the law approach on others, tend not to practise it too often themselves, tend to feel falsely they are above the law.. the law of personal accountability.  I even got arrested in the Calgary Chief of police office for talking too loud, I had said you cops are crooked  while trying to file my rightful   police complaint. http://postedat.wordpress.com/2009/03/24/the-police-cannot-get-the-crimminals/

LAZY, INDIFFERENT, IMMORAL, BAD POLICE, BAD JUSTICE MINSTERS, BAD SOLICITOR GENERALS  is not a new aspect in Ottawa, Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, BC,  and in the rest of Canada.  A useless , no good, bad Conservative politician  is not any better for any of us over a useless , no good, bad Liberal  politician in Canada now too.

SO NEVER  EXPECT A FULL HONEST INVESTIGATION WHEN CLEARY THE RESULTS WILL SHOW BAD COPS, BAD ATTORNEY GENERALS, BAD MINISTERS WHO HAVE NOT BEING DOING A GOOD JOB. ALL UNACCEPTABLE.  NOW WHY IS IT BAD PEOPLE DO NOT CHANGE NEXT BESIDE THE FACT THEY LIKE TO DO BAD THINGS, IT IS ALSO CAUSE THEY FALSELY  REFUSE TO ADMIT THE THINGS THEY DO ARE BAD.

EDMONTON — The Alberta government has passed new legislation designed to reduce the number of  complaints against police officers. The changes, which include new restrictions on who can launch a complaint, more powers to dismiss frivolous complaints and provisions to shorten appeals, are Unacceptable.

“The Criminal Trial Lawyers’ Association is particularly upset by a change that will stop “third parties” from making complaints. Only people directly affected by an officer’s behaviour, their loved ones or witnesses would be allowed to make submissions under the proposed rules. Association member Tom Engel, who has been an outspoken critic of the Edmonton Police Service in recent years, says the rule change will make it virtually impossible for his organization to pursue complaints against misbehaving officers on behalf of people unable or unwilling to step forward on their own. He gave the example of the case of homeless people who were picked up in a police van on Whyte Avenue and dropped off in the north end of the city.

Another contentious part of the legislation says that in cases involving “non-serious” incidents, the police chief’s decision will be considered final. Currently, such decisions can be appealed to the Law Enforcement Review Board. Taking away that appeal avenue is unfair to both complainants and officers and will allow chiefs to keep case details under wraps simply by declaring a case minor, Engel said.

Other proposed changes include:

— Provisions to allow the review board to get through appeals faster, including holding fewer trial-like oral hearings;

— Greater powers for cases to be dismissed when the complainant declines to participate in hearings or misbehaves; and

— Allowing alternative dispute resolutions in appropriate cases; and

— Giving some complainants a longer timeline to make their submission.

The new legislation falls short of the Edmonton Police Association’s call for all police complaints to be handled by a civilian oversight body. “

Having filed many complaints against bad police officers  firsthand in Alberta I know what a farcical system it all is basically. My neighbour was a crooked by law enforcement  officer, lawyer too, who told me firsthand how corrupt the cops and  he was too.

You know I get a kick out of those lying spin  doctors,  police officers, bad cops, union representatives, police lovers, bad PERSONS   who STILL DO say that ALL OF  bad people, INCLUDING the ALCOHOLICS, the bad cops and their bad supervisors too they  can always be rehabilitated, retrained.. and how many millions of them now has this happened to them.. almost none.. a bad apple tends to get worse.. The RCMP maximum 10 days punishment is always absurd, permanent dismissal is what is always needed with the bad cops and their clearly bad superiors who had managed and hired them too.. Bad solicitor generals and bad Justice Ministers, bad Premiers, bad Prime Ministers as well should all be fired ASAP.

Canadian Justice is too often an empty one. The establishment cover ups for it’s own and prevails.  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/05/25/canadas-two-tiered-justice-system-opposed/

Imagine that we have liars for justice Ministers and cops too.

Cancer, heart disease linked to most deaths? Dream on People are the leading causes of death

OTTAWA – Cancer and heart disease caused more than half of Canada’s 235,217 deaths in 2007. They are far and away the two leading causes of death among Canadians.Statistics Canada reports cancer accounted for 30 per cent of deaths and heart disease 22 per cent. The third-most common cause of death, stroke, accounted for six per cent. The agency says the proportion of deaths from cancer was up slightly from 2000, while the proportion from both heart disease and stroke declined. The other seven leading causes of death, in order, were chronic lower respiratory diseases, accidents, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, influenza and pneumonia, kidney disease and suicide. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/101130/national/statscan_death

In fact a person’s wrong doings are still the main continuing factor in most deaths rather… the cancer and the heart attacks are some of the end results.

More People have to take the responsibility for their own actions and consequences. for their smoking, drug usages, drunkenness, impaired driving, and eating habits. That includes all of the doctors, nurses who abuse, neglect their patitents now too.

We all seem to know what statistics and polls are realy like  or the people using them, too  often   lies..

and did these statistics tell you how many people died of a heart attack cause they had used bad drugs, or is that listed under suicide?

Now be honest and tell us also how many people died because of a Hospital acquired infections and medical errors, and tell us how the political correct statistics Canada had deliberately left out these figures and why..

…and what speeding does not cause that many deaths but takes so much police resources that should be used elsewhere such as going after drunk, impaired drivers and people using cell phones while driving? Drunk driving  results in 1250 deaths a year in Canada, and nearly 75000 injuries.

My father’s death is listed as Heart failure too, but many people know the real reason of his death . Abused.. but he is not Jewish so Canada’s prime Minister Stephen  Harper does not care.

Does the PM even care for the high rate of sucides in Canada now too? or those people killed by drunk drivers?  I do!’

so see also

Let’s first be fair to ourselves and others and note that no one thing specifically causes all the cancers, diabetic sick persons, heart problems in the world, rather it is a combination of several different factors starting with our personal ignorance, and the false neglect of the our Bodies.

To Help with many person’s medical symptoms of their diseases, depressions too  often we may still  have to deal with the root causes of the sicknesses too.. including the hypertensions,  stresses, anxieties, and our past wrong values, ignorance,  wrong doings too.   http://stayinhealth.wordpress.com/2008/11/21/anti-suicide-watch/

Drink Alcohol and Die

no alcohol (2)

.

Drinking alcohol has become a “normalized” part of life for the majority of Canadians, yet many don’t realize the potential health risks of downing wine, beer or spirits .An estimated 22 million Canadians aged 15 and older — almost 80 per cent of the population — imbibed in 2012, the most recent year for which statistics are available.. At least 3.1 million Canadians drank enough to be at risk for immediate injury and harm, with at least 4.4 million at risk for chronic health effects, such as liver cirrhosis and some cancers, his annual report on the state of public health shows. Alcohol is not harmless,. Because of its widespread use, easy availability people neglect the  potential harms, which include an elevated risk of breast, colorectal, head and neck, and liver cancers. Alcohol is a known carcinogen, and the Canadian Cancer Society says there is no safe limit when it comes to cancer prevention.

.
British health officials say drinking any alcohol regularly increases the risk of cancer, Britain’s Chief Medical Officer advised both men and women not to drink any more than 14 units of alcohol — about six pints of beer or about four large glasses of wine — a week and said even that still carries a low risk of liver disease or cancer  as Britain’s Chief Medical Officer advised both men and women not to drink any more than 14 units of alcohol — about six pints of beer or about four large glasses of wine — a week and said even that still carries a low risk of liver disease or cancer. While some studies have suggested drinking moderate levels of red wine is good for the heart, British officials say that only applies to women over age 55, in whom the greatest benefit is seen when women drink no more than about two glasses a week. ” So there is no justification for drinking for health reasons,” the government said

.

Here is the government hypocrisy, it is the governments who control the sale of liquor, sell it directly to citizens, and they are full aware of the hazards of consuming alcohols, Yet the same governments are building more and more liquor stores, carrying out major marketing programs, adds to encourage buying booze.

.

The people who drink Alcohol are visibly  big liars, they lie to themselves and to others, they lie when they say that  alcohol is not bad for you.   They lie when they say Alcohol is good for you. They lie when they say Alcohol is not poisonous. They lie when they say Alcohol  is not detrimental to their health,. They lie when they say they are not addicted to Alcohol,  They lie when they say they only drink a little bit of it. They lie when they say God approves of their drinking Alcohol. Clearly they cannot be trusted.. They do need professional help.

https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2014/01/04/the-problem-of-doing-your-own-thing/

 .

Alcohol-related causes are responsible for seven per cent of all deaths in Canada and substantial disability, plus the increase of crime, domestic violence too. These consequences include fractures and other injuries from falls, vehicle collisions and accidents and injuries from violence or alcohol-induced suicides. 15 per cent to 20 per cent of Canadians do meet the criteria for major alcohol disorders. Also alcohol consumption of individuals increase with the number of friends in their drinking group. The impact of drinking group size on alcohol use is stronger for men .

.

Alcohol is a poison that is detrimental to one’s health .

.

People can spend 20 years drinking alcohol and not feel any of the effects this is doing to them. Eventually you reap what you sowed and the damage  shows up.  Alcohol is still an  ‘important  cause’  of premature death and major sickness.

Everyone who drink or use s also “pot”  will suffer brain injury but the Youths who drink or use pot are more likely than others to suffer  a traumatic  brain injury. Alcohol and drugs can damage a teen’s brain in more ways than people  admit, think.  Their negative Symptoms include loss of consciousness, dizziness, headaches, moodiness, difficulty concentrating and increased sensitivity to light and sounds. Teens who reported having 40 or more drinks in the past year had more than five times the odds of suffering a traumatic brain injury than youths who abstained. Those who smoked pot 10 or more times in the past year were more than three times as likely to report a brain injury. But booze and pot will  also make people dizzy and disoriented and alter their perception of distance and space.  We already do know from adult studies just how devastating the results are from  drinking alcohol  or   the pot use injuries can be on all of the people’s real quality of life, even their ability to hold steady employment, and their relationships,  and mental health.

.
Provincial and federal governments in Canada NOW are making record breaking profits by encouraging the citizens to consume even more  alcohol, beer  by the  taxation of these products. They really should not be  encouraging the citizens to do so. It is immoral.
.

I am not an alcoholic…

.

.

Canadians drink well above the global average and binge-drink more, according to a new study by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. “Unhealthy” drinking is widespread around the world and is now the third leading cause of disease and injury, after high blood pressure smoking, CAMH said in its report. More than 200 different conditions are linked to alcohol consumption, lead author Kevin Shield said in a news release. “These include not only well-known outcomes of drinking such as liver cirrhosis or traffic accidents, but also several types of cancer, such as female breast cancer,” he said. Using extensive data from 2005 extrapolated to 2010, researcher Dr. Jurgen Rehm reports that annual alcohol consumption was 6.1 litres per capita worldwide, but 9.8 litres per capita in Canada – more than 50% greater. Canadian women drink half as much as men: 8.3 litres per year on average, compared to 19.8 litres per year. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2013/04/01/alcohol-consumptiom-is-still-one-of-canadas-biggest-problem/

.

Now as usual next the big  liars will try to justify their pot and alcohol sins, addictions.. even by lying and saying that no one died from smoking pot.. but they have had heart attacks as a direct result.. and at least 30 percent of the car accidents are caused by impaired drugs, pot smoking driving.. for a start.. Pot brain damage like alcohol brain damage is also irreversible.. marijuana’s effects from heavy, long-term use have been linked to neuorological problems such as learning difficulty and strokes.. Alcohol’s  effects from heavy, long-term usage has also  been linked to neuorological problems such as learning difficulty, Mental retardation too.   Smoking marijuana also results in changes in the bloodstream that may put chronic users at risk for serious cardiovascular problems such as heart attack and stroke.; by the way people who take pot tend to drink alcohol and commit adultery as well..

.

Within a few minutes after smoking marijuana, the heart begins beating more rapidly and the blood pressure drops. Marijuana can cause the heart beat to increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute, and can increase even more if other drugs are used at the same time. Because of the lower blood pressure and higher heart rate, researchers found that users’ risk for a heart attack is four times higher within the first hour after smoking marijuana, compared to their general risk of heart attack when not smoking.

However, a group of researchers from the Boston University School of Medicine and Boston University School of Public Health have found that alcohol is a “major” contributor to cancer deaths in the United States, even when consumed in small amounts. A new study suggests Canadians are thirstier than ever as sales of wine, beer  and spirits are on track to setting a record high. Increasing indulgence  has been a trend all year long with Canadians spending close to half a billion  dollars more on alcohol in the first nine months of 2012 than in 2011, and if this growth holds up through the holiday season, that would set the stage for  record retail sales of more than $19 billion in 2012. Whether it is family get-togethers,  holiday parties or just drinking to stay warm, liquor sales typically surge by  over 40 per cent of the monthly average in December, the study  suggests. By comparison, despite the hordes of people descending on malls  to purchase gifts for their loved ones, the retail sector only rises by 15-20  per cent in December.          Alcohol sales on pace to high record high: report  Canada becoming a nation of alcoholics

.

Now do we really understand the detrimental effects that alcohol can have on our bodies and behavior now too . Most headlines about moderate alcohol consumption are still misleading ones —such as a drink or two a day is good for your heart, your soul, and may even extend your lifespan! But a  new study finds that regularly consuming even moderate amounts of alcohol can cause a decrease in brain plasticity, or the brain’s ability to generate new cells.  It rather kills even existing brain cells..

.

Once the alcohol is absorbed into the tissue, it affects your mind and body.  Blood alcohol concentration can rise up to 20 minutes after having a drink. After alcohol is absorbed it leaves the body in three ways: the kidneys, lungs, and liver. Alcohol is not a stimulant, it is actually a sedative-depressant of the central nervous-system, it is capable of rupturing blood capillaries and veins, it does not warm you up; in fact it makes you colder by increasing perspiration and causing body heat loss, it damages the branched end of nerve cells that bring messages into the cell, causing disruptions to brain function. It depletes the body of many essential nutrients such as all the B vitamins, especially B1, B2, B3,B6, B12, folic acid, vitamins C and K, zinc, magnesium and potassium. It can hamper the liver’s ability to process fat. It can lead to liver toxicity and disease. The high sugar content of alcoholic drinks can lead to hypoglycemia and predispose to diabetes. Drinking alcohol regularly can lead to its dependence. Drinking alcohol damages the liver, kidneys, and lungs

Alcohol consumption has previously been linked to a reduced bone mineral density (BMD), or osteoporosis, and increases the risk of fractures especially since  bone fractures can be the result of falls, and   one in three adults over 65 will experience a fall each year, this is a serious issue. And too much booze can cause people to age prematurely. It impairs your driving now too no matter how old you are.  Some of the wider known effects of alcohol include diminished performance, mental impairment, possible addiction, diabetes and liver disease. Now  there   a very few people, though, who can  have one small drink  too.. Yes too many have ended up dying from alcohol abuse, and as well there are those whose alcoholism led them to stop taking care of themselves.  Alcoholism certainly can increase the risk of many different diseases occurring, especially as an individual grows older, and most of   the negative effects are irreversible as well.

.

“As alcohol is a by-product of yeast digestion, it can have an irritating effect on the lining of the stomach and gradually weaken the kidneys and liver, leading to serious health problems and can prove fatal in extreme cases. When the stomach is weakened it becomes less efficient at digesting food, which inevitably interferes with a healthy metabolism and positive weight loss. Also, after alcohol is consumed it is then the first energy supply to be used up by your body when combined with carbohydrates, proteins and fats, which postpone the fat-burning process. As a result this can lead to greater fat storage, meaning that whenever you drink you will not be burning away your fat stores in the near future. Another shocking fact is that alcohol supplies almost twice as many calories as proteins and carbohydrates, seven calories per gram! And as all of these extra calories you are getting from alcohol contain zero nutrients, they accelerate fat storage while also having a negative effect on a healthy metabolism.”

.

“One of the risks to seniors of drinking alcohol is that as human bodies age, they lose muscle mass and their body functions slow down, meaning it takes less alcohol for them to become more intoxicated or suffer other ill effects, such as bone loss or cerebral atrophy.  Another problem  that alcohol often  interacts negatively with medication, which older people too often are be taking a significant amount of, depending on their health.” Alcohol may seriously increase your risk of health problems and even seriously now damage your heart.  Although some would say it may offer some very marginal health benefits,  for your heart. Are you willing to take the risks  of bad health associated with the consumption of alcohol still then?

.

104 lives saved under province’s tougher drunk-driving laws: B.C. gov’t Laurel Middelaer and Markita Kaulius lost their daughters to drunk drivers, but are comforted to know that B.C.’s tougher impaired driving laws have cut down alcohol-related fatal crashes by 46 per cent since they were introduced two years ago.

Proponents who argue that alcohol is legal are merely pettifogging the debate.” Steve Flanagan, Ottawa.

.

” From a purely medical standpoint, it makes no sense to legalize marijuana, the smoke of which studies show to be far more carcinogenic than cigarette smoke. Also, there is “an association between chronic marijuana use and increased rates of anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia” (letter, Nov. 13). An argument might be made for medicinal use (e.g., for glaucoma), but such use must be strictly monitored. Recreational use is simply stupid. “ Lars Troide, Apple Hill, Ont.

More Canadians are trying to drink themselves to sleep, Quebec study finds  Canwest News Service ,  Canadians are spending hundreds of millions of dollars every year self-medicating their insomnia with alcohol, a new study suggests. “We were very surprised to see that so many people use alcohol as a way to promote sleep, particularly because it has more detrimental than beneficial effects on sleep,” says Charles Morin, a professor of psychology at Laval University and one of the authors of the study, published this week in the journal Sleep. Overall, eight per cent of the sample reported using alcohol as a sleep aid. Among people with insomnia, 28 per cent reported self-medicating with alcohol.   The study estimates the total annual costs of the sleep disorder in Quebec alone is $6.5 billion. “We know insomnia is a very prevalent problem, it has a very negative impact on people’s quality of life,” Morin says. “If we can show that it’s 10 times more costly not to treat insomnia because of its impact on absenteeism from work and reduced productivity than it is to treat it, why aren’t we treating it more often?” Part of the problem is that so few people seek help. Morin says some people take sleeping pills, “but there are many more who self-medicate with over-the-counter products or, worse, with alcohol.” The research found the money spent on the use of booze as a sleep aid far exceeds costs associated with visits to doctors and the use of prescription pills and over-the-counter products from antihistamines to herbal teas. “The idea that ‘schnapps before your bedtime’ is good for your sleep might have been right about 100 years ago, as long as it was the occasional schnapps,” says Dr. Adam Moscovitch, medical director of the Canadian Sleep Institute and a University of Calgary professor. “When you knock yourself out as a way of dealing with it, if you can’t shut you mind off in any other way, then alcohol has a very negative effect on your sleep. It deprives you of any of the deep stages of sleep and, once it wears off, it has a rebound effect. So your problem becomes much worse.” Of the $6.5 billion estimated annual costs associated with insomnia in Quebec, the biggest indirect cost by far — $5 billion — was reduced productivity. The highest direct cost — $339.8 million — was money spent on alcohol to promote sleep. By comparison, an estimated $16.5 million was spent on prescription drugs, and $1.8 million for over-the-counter products. The study, based on a random sample of 948 adults, distinguished between those people who drink at the end of the day, and those who use booze specifically to help them sleep, meaning they drink before bedtime, or in the middle of the night. Canadians today live in a stressed society with multiple pressures balancing work and family responsibilities. “One of the things we cut corners on is our sleep,” Moscovitch says. http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/story.html?id=bbff0ea3-d36d-45bd-ac3b-773697d5442f

Attitudes To Alcohol Must Change. A health Minister  has called for a change in attitudes towards alcohol by both the public and the drinks industry all year now too. Statistics which show an increase of in the number of people   binge drinking, getting drunk  and that the statistics also show that we still have a long way to deal with this major problem. 81% of people who choose to drink are still exceeding the recommended daily limits. The cost of alcohol misuse to our society is very real. In just over 10 years, there has been a startling 86% increase in the numbers of people dying due to alcohol related harm. “Now, more than ever, we should all be working together to really tackle this issue head on and I believe the drinks industry has a key role to play. Supermarkets in particular sell alcohol far too cheaply. I am extremely disappointed that despite having met with each of the major supermarkets, and received their personal assurances that they take this matter extremely seriously, those words have not as yet translated into meaningful action. ”On the contrary, they are flooded with festive drinks promotions that will only encourage people to indulge further in binge drinking. This, in my view, is totally unacceptable.   Action speaks louder than words. On this occasion, profit is being put before public health.”  “The harsh reality is that although alcohol misuse is known to be damaging and harmful to health and well-being, many people still drink to excess. This must change, and in this respect we all have a collective responsibility in tackling this issue – individuals, society, government and the drinks industry alike.”    http://www.emaxhealth.com/2/63/27952/attitudes-alcohol-must-change.html  http://www.emaxhealth.com/2/63/27943/northern-ireland-reports-adult-drinking-patterns.html

You cannot judge me you say? THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH

As a person who has regularly followed the related Canadian news stores, issues in regard to drunk driving, speeding, accidents, driver error it is  VERY CLEAR TO ME THAT THE NEWS MEDIA SPIN or  Lies, as to what is  the major causes of the accidents, and  why is that as Booze is a money maker, supports governments. THEIR TRUTH  VARIES FROM DAY TODAY AND CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AS BEING ANYTHING CLOSE TO THE TRUTH. Not even in Alberta. Why? The very  Poor Journalism for a start, lying, incompetent politicians, bad policemen’s views too.
.
Now as  the need for more money the  revenue generating traffic tickets are  a false source of income as well.
 .
Honking, fist-shaking, screaming, obnoxious drivers: the symptoms of road rage.    Insurance Corporation of British Columbia  Psychologist John Vavrik, who studies driving behaviour for ICBC, says road rage can be better understood as “aggressive driving spectrum disorder.” According to Vavrik, road rage can take many forms.  “There’s not a clean definition of it. It’s basically an aggressive act aimed at hurting somebody or sending a message to somebody,” Vavrik said.  “The people most at risk of engaging in these behaviours are the least likely to control their behaviour,” he said. “They have low emotional intelligence. They don’t have the tools or skills or strategy to manage their emotions.  “In those extreme cases, we’re talking about sociopathic issues. The driver’s a walking time bomb.”  According to Vavrik, “road-ragers” are generally underachievers, individuals who lack assertiveness and control, and do not have the status in life they desire.  He said the “depersonalized space” of a vehicle is a trigger to road rage, as is an unexpected traffic delay, such as that caused by a slow driver, or being stuck behind an idle bus.

.
Now we know that more people have accident due to road rage, impaired driving, driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol  over speeding too and we still do need to review how much time and resources do the police deal with that speeding and neglect the drunk drivers firstly? “
.
In 2006, 232 Ontarians were killed in traffic accidents in which alcohol was a factor.  “We’ve had an increased number of impaired driving fatalities in Ontario though we’re still seeing a downward trend in Ontario,” is still not enough policing here.
.
An Australian study estimates that about half of all traffic accidents in Australia may be due to road rage and most of the others related to alcohol, impaired driving and yet the police falsely tend to pursue revenue generating speeding traffic tickets still and why?   Road rage is a relatively serious act; it can  be seen as a violation of human and property rights , an endangerment of  other’s personal well being, security.
.
Now I have said it for over 3 decades in writing to all too so now call it what you want but police services generally  it is not about public safety, for it is  a self employment, empire  building, a false money grab, revenue generation, hidden taxes..  for if  the cops, the mad RCMP  were now really worried about public safety THEY WOULD FIRSTLY ARREST THEIR OWN KIND, THE BAD COPS WHO OFTEN DRIVE HOME DRUNK AFTER WORK, COMING HOME FROM THE POLICE TAVERN, and they would ALSO FIRSTLY  go after the people who drive reckless, who  fail to stop at the stop signs, or the  traffic stop lights, and go seriously after the impaired drunken drivers, deal with the unsafe cars whose brakes are squealing cause they need to be repaired.. etc. Cops , civil and public servants too often become perverse persons, unacceptable bullies still too. You and I still do not have to accept such crap.
.
Ironically I had even written recently that the Conservatives clearly are basically no different than the Liberals, and both have much too many alcoholics now as well..
.
70 percent of Canadians drink alcohol, 15 percent Canadians are alcoholic, binge drinkers so of course alcohol is associated now with politics, Christian politicians as well..
.
Drinking alcohol cause permanent brain damage, it also causes a significant deterioration of one’s mental capabilities, deterioration of one’s inter personal relationship skills, it also causes more car accidents than speeding or not having adequate winter tires, it also reduces significantly one’s work productivity as well undeniably too. It has ruined many families as well. So do please tell us all now:
.
“when will mayor get serious with aggressive drivers and cyclists? ” Toronto mayor refuses comment on Bryant
.
Toronto police said Tuesday that a “magnitude” of charges were being considered following an apparent altercation that left a cyclist dead and a former high-profile Ontario cabinet minister reportedly in custody…. some witnesses also said the driver appeared to try to remove the cyclist by brushing up against trees and poles.
.
Now was alcohol now involved as well? was a Police breath analyzer used on Mr Bryant ?
.
An illustration sadly of what can happen when tempers escalate beyond the point of reason? Some say Take a brief moment to consider these events to determine what you will do if faced with a similar circumstance. Yes but what about a supposedly mature persons who has even a justice Minister. who clearly should have known much better and lead a more exemplary life now too..  Could he have done anything different? or did alcohol have a devious negative effect here too? Drug impaired driving, drunk driving, road age, driving incompetence, and car racing are still the main cause of the majority of all vehicle.. we already do know alcohol and road age is associated with over 40 percent of vehicular accidents..
.
Police say Sheppard, 33, grabbed onto a car following an altercation with the driver. They say the driver Mr. Bryant still drove way with Sheppard hanging on. Why did Bryant not rather stop?  He Sheppard  then next fell and suffered fatal injuries and dies one hour later. Sheppard’s girlfriend says he had been  drinking the night he died.  Misty Bailey said Sheppard was drunk when he visited her and he rested and slept, then insisted on going home.  Bailey said she didn’t ask him to leave and would have loved for him to stay where she knew he’d be safe.  Sheppard, at one point, was in the back of a police cruiser and she asked police to drive him home, but instead they let Sheppard go, she said.  Police have said they responded to a call about Sheppard barely an hour before his death, but added there were no allegations of criminal activity.  http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090902/national/bryant_cyclist_killed
.

Apparently alcohol was involved in Shepherd’s rage, acts, otherwise why would the girlfriend want the police to drive him home?  likely confirms what I have said.. that we already do know alcohol and road age is associated with over 40 percent of vehicular accidents..

.

Two days after the Bloor Street collision that left a bike messenger dead, the girlfriend of Darcy Allan Sheppard is questioning why police allowed him to bicycle home in the first place. But after dozing intermittently, Mr. Sheppard insisted on bicycling back to his own apartment. Leaving Ms. Bailey’s, he was immediately apprehended by Toronto police, who were responding to a call of “unknown trouble” at the building. Mr. Sheppard was placed into the back of the police cruiser.  For Ms. Bailey, this is where she last saw her boyfriend alive. It is also where she wishes he could have stayed, and that the police could have driven him all the way home in one piece. “I asked for the police to give him a ride home,” said Ms. Bailey, 34, adding that her friends also made similar requests. “They said ‘No, he’s going to [take] himself home.”  Shortly afterward, Mr. Sheppard was killed in a collision with a black Saab convertible on Bloor Street West, just east of Avenue Road. Former attorney-general Michael Bryant has been charged in connection with the death.  http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/girlfriend-of-dead-cyclist-questions-police-refusal-to-drive-him-home/article1273891/

.

The police themselves are not off the hook in these matters…  and are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea as well.. DAMMED IF THEY DO AND DAMMED IF THEY DO NOT CHARGE BRYANT

.

Toronto Police are being criticized for their perceived special treatment of Michael Bryant. The former Attorney General was charged with the death of a cyclist and taken into custody Monday night. By the time Bryant held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, he was wearing a fresh, clean suit that had been dropped off at the station. And he never appeared in bail court. Instead, Bryant was released and will face a judge for the first time on October 19. That sparked prominent defence lawyer Edward Sapiano to say that anyone else, aside from a police officer or politician, would have been forced to show up in bail court unshaven and dishevelled.
.

Michael Bryant, who once appointed judges and oversaw Crown prosecutors, has now suddenly found himself on the opposite side of the judicial system, accused of criminal negligence causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death in the altercation involving Darcy Allan Sheppard. Now his career and reputation have been severely damaged already as a result too so Bryant is supposedly trying to buy his way out of it by hiring the best PR, lawyers too. Reminds me of the OJ Simpson fiasco.Rich and Powerful  Michael Bryant has hired the best PR, Lawyers, Spin doctors to try to clean up his tarnished image, to falsely deny he killed someone too.

.

This guy should clearly not be driving, and yes, I would consider him a danger to the public based on the eyewitnesses’ accounts.  Do the police have any proof that Bryant was not drinking?  I have not heard that a breathalyser was administered to Bryant, or about whether there was alcohol purchased at the restaurant where he was celebrating. It sounds as though police are simply taking him at his word. That is insane, given the outrageous manner in which he was allegedly driving.  And if he wasn’t drinking, then there is something seriously wrong with him. He needed to stop his vehicle after allegedly hitting Sheppard, and he needed to stop his vehicle when Sheppard held on to his vehicle. Nobody in their right mind would accelerate under those conditions – particularly when there were bystanders who could help him if he felt he was in danger.  I’m just wondering how Bryant, and his PR firm have spun the story so that the guy who allegedly hit a person on a bike, and used his vehicle as a weapon is now being depicted as a “victim” who was terrorized – I think it is more accurate to say that if you hit a person/cyclist, then try to knock them away when they are trying to stop you from leaving – that is terrorizing someone. I keep reading posts with people saying that if someone held onto their car, they would accelerate (up to 90km/hr into oncoming traffic?) – that’s safe?.( that is  murderous).. I try to imagine someone calm, like my mom yelling at a cyclist, then nudging them with her car and driviing away (hit and run?), then when the person is holding on (after being allegedly assaulted..), driving her vehicle in such a way as to remove the person in any way possible. It’s just not reasonable.  Apply the brake, apologize for hitting the person while on their bike, and say sorry. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2009/09/04/bryant-conditions.html#

.

Now  also we have more  revelation in Sept 2009 of alcohol abuse in Ontario too  And why did it take so long to investigate and take action when this was brought out before in the past?

.

The “culture of entitlement” at the lottery corporation appears to be a deep-rooted problem that will not be solved by the new procedures put in place by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, said Kevin Gaudet, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

.

Under the new Ontario Government rules revealed this month , employees with unacceptable expense claims such as alcohol for staff functions and personal items must repay the taxpayers. McGuinty’s move follows the revelations employees at Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp expensed items such as a $3,713.77 dinner for 38 people that included more than 10 bottles of wine and other alcohol. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.’s 10 highest-paid employees expensed at least $2,533 on alcohol between January, 2007, and December, 2008. A sales and marketing meeting at the Keg resulted in a $260 liquor tab; 38 people at a pre- Sound of Music business dinner drank $885 worth of alcoholic beverages. Any hospitality event at which alcohol was served would have to receive prior approval. The same provincial public-service rules also require written approval before all out-of-province travel, rarely evident in the documents the province made public this week. It all now still reveals a culture of acceptability that is inappropriate in a recession and in any Crown environment. The past provincial directive, which has been in place since 2004, states that “reimbursement of meal costs must not include the reimbursement for any alcoholic beverages.” The Ontario Liberals have also ordered a review of the 600 provincial agencies, boards and commissions to root out spending abuses. New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath said the added layer of scrutiny doesn’t assuage concerns about widespread illicit spending among government agencies. NOW WHAT ABOUT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT?
 .
Alberta drug and alcohol deaths have doubled in the past decade  Edmonton Sun  CALGARY — The number of recorded drug and alcohol deaths in Alberta has more than doubled in the past decade, says the province’s chief medical examiner. From 1998 to 2008, Alberta’s population has grown by only 13% while the annual number of non-suicide deaths attributable to intoxicants has leaped to 437 from 210. Kim Borden, research officer with the chief medical examiner’s office, was at a loss to explain why the number would so far exceed the province’s population increase. “But I do know drugs and drug-related deaths are a huge problem — it’s right up there with car crash fatalities,” she said. “It’s growing every year.” , the figures for deaths caused by drugs are likely much higher because the number of autopsies are so limited.
.
So vehicular  speeding is not the major cause of accidents, deaths but impaired driving and yet the police like to go after speeders, over the drunk drivers still and why was that?
.
It is not the rapists, drunk drivers that mostly  fill the courts calendars, docks it is mostly the revenue generating traffic tickets.. if the government wants to get tough on crime, as it purports, it should go after the real criminals. Drunk, impaired drivers too.  After all speeding is not the major cause of vehicular accidents, what you did not know that yet? and the police Chief himself did not tell you? What is then the cause of major car accidents? Drunk driving, road rage, impaired driving, distracted while driving…. and what the revenue generating traffic division has not gone after all this mostly instead yet too? and why Not? The Cops becoming judge and jury, now taking the law into their own hands  even when they still say “ In most cases, our cops are the best to judge if stunt driving is really stunt driving. Or, is it simply speeding. If that is the case, they should charge accordingly or face more legal challenges.” And them the cops still being continually soft on drunk drivers is cause too many cops do  drink alcohol now too?  https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/speeding-is-not-the-major-cause-of-car-accidents-still/

Saskatchewan has introduced the toughest repeat drunk-driving sentencing policy in Canada, just in time for the holiday party season. As of Friday in Saskatchewan, there will be a minimum mandatory 30-day jail sentence for repeat offenders who have had one prior conviction in the past five years or two convictions in the past ten years.  Further, if a convicted drunk driver has two convictions in the past five years or three in the past ten years, the mandatory jail sentence will be 120 days.  These sentences will be more severe if the drunk driving offences have caused bodily harm or if the offender is found to be driving while disqualified. http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2009/12/09/12098391.html

Alcohol is more dangerous than illegal drugs like heroin and crack cocaine, according to a new study.Heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, or crystal meth, were the most lethal to individuals. When considering their wider social effects, alcohol, heroin and crack cocaine were the deadliest. But overall, alcohol outranked all other substances, followed by heroin and crack cocaine. Experts said alcohol scored so high because it is so widely used and has devastating consequences not only for drinkers but for those around them. When drunk in excess, alcohol damages nearly all organ systems. It is also connected to higher death rates and is involved in a greater percentage of crime than most other drugs, including heroin. All governments should consider more education programs and raising the price of alcohol so it isn’t as widely available.    “What governments decide is illegal is not always based on science,”  for monetary considerations about revenue and taxation, like those garnered from the alcohol and tobacco industries, may influence decisions about which substances to regulate or outlaw. “Drugs that are legal cause at least as much damage, if not more, than drugs that are illicit,”     http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/101031/health/health_eu_med_dangerous_alcohol

Hours Passed Before Doctors Saw Natasha Richardson – NYTimes.com

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/21/health/21richardson.html?ref=world

This was, is a very tragic death..  The simple explanation is that medical personnel tend not to be overly sympathetic to persons who have been hurt in a skiing accident. I know  I had two members of my family hurt in skiing accidents and the medical service was slow.. they were not sympathetic. BUT THERE IS NO SPECIFIC EVIDENCE THAT THE MEDICAL CARE SYSTEM ITSELF HAS BEEN AT FAULT HERE. Quebec’s medical care system is one of the best in Canada and it is still the patient’s personal reponsibility to insure they get the needed medical treatment  ASAP as well.. Richardson refused potentially life-saving treatment on scene shortly after her fall, and  she wasn’t wearing a ski helmet

Sadly “OTTAWA — The actress Natasha Richardson, who died Wednesday from a brain hemorrhage after a fall on a beginners’ ski slope in Quebec, was not admitted to a hospital until nearly four hours after her accident, according to ambulance dispatch records obtained Friday by The New York Times.

That is nearly three hours later than the timeline that officials at the Mont Tremblant ski resort, about 90 minutes north of Montreal, offered Tuesday, the day after Ms. Richardson, 45, fell during a skiing lesson.

The first paramedics, who arrived at 1 p.m. Monday, were turned away after she declined treatment, ambulance records show, though they reported seeing her sitting on a stretcher — not laughing and walking off her fall, as a resort spokeswoman said Tuesday.

According to the resort, about an hour later another ambulance was summoned to her hotel after she complained of a headache. That ambulance, the resort said, took her to a local hospital.

But the ambulance records show that the second ambulance was not sent to her room until 3 p.m., Yves Coderre, the director of operations at Ambulances Radisson, which serves the resort under an arrangement with Quebec’s public health care system, said Friday in an interview.

The ambulance arrived nine minutes later and left the hotel at 3:42 p.m., arriving at the hospital in Ste. Agathe, about 25 miles from Mont Tremblant, at 4:20 p.m., where she was attended by a doctor for the first time.

Those discrepancies appeared to raise new questions about whether Ms. Richardson could have been saved had she been treated sooner. The New York medical examiner’s office ruled Ms. Richardson’s death an accident; the autopsy results suggested that the fall tore an artery and led to bleeding between Ms. Richardson’s skull and the outer lining of her brain.”

SMOKING, ALCOHOL, BAD DRUGS, BAD FOOD, LACK OF EXERCISE, STRESS & bad cops

  thecartoon-102

Now as usual next the big  liars will try to justify their pot and alcohol sins, addictions.. even by lying and saying that no one died from smoking pot.. but they have had heart attacks as a direct result.. and at least 30 percent of the car accidents are caused by impaired drugs, pot smoking driving.. for a start.. Pot brain damage like alcohol brain damage is also irreversible.. marijuana’s effects from heavy, long-term use have been linked to neuorological problems such as learning difficulty and strokes.. Alcohol’s  effects from heavy, long-term usage has also  been linked to neuorological problems such as learning difficulty, Mental retardation too.  by the way people who take pot tend to drink alcohol and commit adultery as well

Smoking marijuana results in changes in the bloodstream that may put chronic users at risk for serious cardiovascular problems such as heart attack and stroke.;Within a few minutes after smoking marijuana, the heart begins beating more rapidly and the blood pressure drops. Marijuana can cause the heart beat to increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute, and can increase even more if other drugs are used at the same time. Because of the lower blood pressure and higher heart rate, researchers found that users’ risk for a heart attack is four times higher within the first hour after smoking marijuana, compared to their general risk of heart attack when not smoking.
http://alcoholism.about.com/od/pot/a/effects.-Lya.htm

Heart attack is directly responsible for about 11% of all deaths in Canada every year. This represents half of all deaths due to coronary artery disease. In 2003, heart attack was the leading cause of death from circulatory diseases, at 48 deaths per 100,000 Canadians. Lung cancer was the leading cause of death from cancer, at 47 deaths per 100,000. Prostate cancer mortality decreased from 27 to 24 deaths per 100,000 men.

thecartoon-222

IN ONE YEAR 60% of fatally injured drivers in Canada had a positive reading for blood alcohol and 160,000 people were convicted of impaired   driving .  IMPAIRED DRIVING CONVICTIONS ARE MAINLY ENFORCED 2 MONTHS OF THE YEAR FIRSTLY, AND ARE NOT DONE THE WHOLE YEAR.  generally alcohol-related driving offences account for approximately 25% of all Criminal Code prosecutions. ” If you drink and drive, it’s everybody’s business” still.

AND in Canada in all provinces now too DRIVING at  supposedly  UNSAFE SPEED, supposedly speeding  ACCOUNTS FOR ABOUT 14.5 PERCENT OF  VEHICLE ACCIDENT’S DEATHS AS OPPOSED TO IMPAIRED DRIVING AT 45 PERCENT!

so tell me, do tell us all  again why the police do not go after the drunk drivers more, and when they do it is only 2 months of the year, December and January, when the alcoholics do stay alcoholics all year and likely drive impaired still all year too.. so why does the police fill up the courts with the fast buck, revenue generating traffic tickets, helping the insurance firms to get more money too by increasing the insurance rates??? The cops, RCMP too should really now  spend more time on putting into jail all the alcoholics who drive, but also allof the bad civil and public servants, politicians,  and bad citizens who abuse the taxpayers money rather firstly too. And why are they not doing it? Cause even they abuse the taxpayers monies too? and the likely fact that half of the cops are also drunks..

A  survey of Ontario policing  found that, on average, a police officer laid 2.5 drinking driving charges per year. The study suggests several reasons for low enforcement rates:
not enough personnel (small towns only have one patrol unit that has to be available for emergencies and cannot be sidetracked by an impaired driving situation)
– time-consuming arrest proceedings (including the availability of a technician for BAC  testing)
-attitudes of officers and administrators (not a serious crime, too time-consuming)
– the court system (many forms to process the charge, mistakes lead to acquittals)
-amount of paperwork required (2 hour average to do paperwork) (Vingilis, 1991, 202)

Research ALSO found a significant divergence in the punishments given to impaired drivers BY THE POLICE AND THE COURTS, locally and Canada wide too.

In an average year in Canada, impaired driving killed 1,212 persons, injured 71,532, and caused damage to 236,375 vehicles, translating into 1,010 fatal crashes, 48,890 injury-only crashes and 155,510 property-damage only (PDO) crashes, totaling an average of 205,410 crashes in all. In turn, on average, this cost Canadians between $1.90 billion (Real Dollar Estimate model) and $11.28 billion (Willingness to Pay model) dollars, depending on the costing model and assumptions used. To put this another way, that represents a cost of between about $59.00 and $341.00 per Canadian. EXCLUDING THE EXTRA COSTS FOR INSURANCE NOW TOO..

Jurisdiction   Estimated Fatalities,   2006 IMPAIRED DRIVING
British Columbia 458
Alberta 477
Saskatchewan 157
Manitoba 144
Ontario 885
Quebec 692
New Brunswick
Nova Scotia 93
Prince Edward Island 28
Newfoundland & Labrador 48
Yukon, NW Territory & Nunavut 27
Canada 3,122

Jurisdiction  Estimated % Alcohol-Involved – Fatalities,  2006
British Columbia 36.70%
Alberta 43.40%
Saskatchewan 47.90%
Manitoba 44.60%
Ontario 34.30%

In 2006, it was estimated that about 368,396 individuals were injured in motor vehicle crashes. MADD Canada estimates that approximately 75,374 of these individuals were injured in impaired driving crashes (207 per day). Note that this figure does not include impaired crash injuries occurring on the water or snowmobiling.

It is very interesting that when most of the news reporters, governments tend to write about heart attacks, or car accidents they seem to downplay, omit alcohol’s effect and why is that?

On the surface, at least, Canadians  appear to be among the healthiest in the country when it comes to cardiovascular disease.  But the realties  are deceiving and paint a much different picture once you look into them. Twenty-two per cent of them smoke, 60 percent of them drink alcohol, 50 per cent are overweight or obese and 67 per cent do not eat a healthy diet. Many persons have often, continually unresolved negative personal stress   All of these factors contribute to high blood pressure — and they are entirely preventable, or deal able with.  A lot of what we perceive to be healthy eating and doing actually isn’t.  For starters, all persons people should shake their addiction to salty, packaged meals. reduce their red meat consumptions, reduce their meal sizes, eat more regularly too, One of the biggest problems is the high amount of sodium in our food,” This salt encourages water in the blood to remain, and gives more work for the heart to pump. Everyone does have  responsibilities, parents, spouses, food distributors as do governments and food manufacturers. Now  it’s about all of us doing a better job to increase public awareness and promoting more lifestyle changes around being healthy. According to the World Health Association, high blood pressure is the leading risk for death in the world.  Hypertension is the leading cause of heart and stroke disease, but there are no obvious symptoms.  Now  regular Doctor checkups,  with a competent and not too often a pretentious doctor too, to screen for hypertension, Diabetes as well  are required since studies suggest will affect half of all Canadians by the time they turn 60.  Over time, high blood pressure can damage blood vessel walls causing scarring that promotes the buildup of plaque deposits, which narrow and eventually block blood flow. Increased blood pressure can lead to heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure and other diseases that many persons next do die from. One in five Canadians has high blood pressure — and many  Canadians are among the least likely in the country to take measures to lower it. Only  80 per cent of the 4.6 million Canadians with hypertension take medication to control it, according to new findings from Statistics Canada. Doing things like having a  healthy diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in saturated fat is very effective, as is regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy body weight.  The prevalence of high blood pressure was about the same in men as in women, but men were less likely to be aware of their condition. The numbers should give all cause for concern.
Blood Pressure Risk Factors
– – Smoking
– – Lack of exercise
– – Poor diet and excess sodium
– – Excessive alcohol consumption
– – Being overweight or obese

Hypertension another  leading personal cause of heart attacks, strokes and other major medical problems. For most North Americans even if you don’t have high blood pressure now, you need to make a serious lifestyle, food  adjustments now to avoid personal health problems, especially Cancer and Heart diseases next  in one’s future.   A person is considered hypertensive with a blood-pressure reading of 140/90 millimetres of mercury (mmHg) or higher. Healthy adults should have a blood pressure in the range of 120/80 mmHg, although that target varies with age and other health conditions. There are many DIFFERENT factors that contribute to high blood pressure, including first the type of one’s food consumption, too much read meat, not enough fruit and vegetables,  being overweight, a lack of physical activity, excessive sodium consumption and aging. Hypertension, while it has few obvious symptoms, is a leading risk factor for heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. To Help with many person’s medical symptoms of their diseases often we may still  have to deal with the root causes of their sicknesses too.. including their stress, anxieties, their wrong doings too. I too have found one of the free great cure, a help to relieve my high blood pressure *, stress, and instead of keeping it all boiled up inside, I express it, share it with everyone else all of  the things that rightfully have peeved me off, and it seems I keep on coming back to my favorite complaints until they actually get resolved including .. https://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/09/04/cure-for-stress-high-blood-pressure-heart-attack/

  • Hospital deaths account for half of deaths annually Now about 225,000 Canadian patients a year suffer from hospital-acquired infections that substantially extend their stays, and between 8,000 and 12,000 people die annually as a result of  infection with common but dangerous infections – C. difficile, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) – The infections   C. difficile, MRSA and VRE – are not airborne, but spread by contact. yet the police make a lot of noise about number of   deaths caused by speeding AND DRUNK DRIVERS..  we need more cops rather in the hospitals aressting the bad Health Ministers, bad  doctors and bad nurses etc.,

9 city employees fired in benefits claim fraud Toronto Star – BY THE NUMBERS The city’s fraud and waste hotline received tips leading to findings of wrongdoing in 42 cases. The auditor general highlighted 15 of the 42 cases in his report.

Toronto refuses to release details of alleged fraud Globe and Mail

TORONTO, ONTARIO Facing pressure to release more details about alleged fraud or wrongdoing investigated by the auditor-general, the city revealed that it had fired three staff and suspended 10 others without pay. But the city would not say for which among a list of allegations in the report, including theft and improperly cancelled parking tickets, the employees were punished. Meanwhile, in a separate case of alleged fraud, the city announced it had fired nine staff it had sent home with pay last month for allegedly filing false health-benefit claims and pocketing the cash. However, the mayor and city officials would not say how much, saying it could jeopardize a police probe into the allegations, uncovered by the company that administers the city’s benefits, Manulife Financial. The report includes allegations that employees improperly cancelled parking tickets, worked $50,000 in “excessive overtime,” viewed pornography on city computers, wrongly recommended private contractors to homeowners and rented their own apartments to social-services recipients. Pressed by reporters, Mr. Miller said three of the employees facing allegations in the auditor-general’s report were terminated, one resigned, and another 10 were suspended without pay. Mr. Ford, like other members of the audit committee, received a confidential briefing on the punishments behind closed doors but was “severely warned” not to share what he learned. He accused the mayor of trying to keep a lid on the allegations and the city of being too soft on the accused employees: “It’s coming from the top.”

Report card: Canada’s hospitals and Health Ministers

In Canada, many people, citizens  are needlessly dying because the hospital infection rates continued to rise  and all of the Health Ministers should be hung for this now immediately too, for murder, and I have been now saying that rightfully and openly for years now too.. do immediately deal with it. “CP Despite political focus post-SARS, hospital infection rates continued to rise   TORONTO — Toronto’s SARS crisis and Quebec’s C. difficile nightmare drew political attention – and additional funding – to the problem of hospital-acquired infections. But despite that, rates of these infections continued to rise in the years immediately following the outbreaks, a new study reveals. Rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus – known as MRSA – more than doubled in the period from 1999 to 2005, said the study, which was based on a survey of Canadian hospitals with more 80 or more patient beds.  Clostridium difficile infections ( shit  disease ) also rose over that period and the number of hospitals reporting new cases of infection with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus climbed 77 per cent over the period. “Despite the two major communicable diseases – SARS and C. difficile – despite the emphasis by the Canadian Public Safety Institute on safer health care, despite all those things, our institutional approaches to infection control have changed remarkably little,” said Dr. Andrew Simor, head of microbiology at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Simor was not involved in the study. “And the outcomes, as a result, have gone in the wrong direction.” The survey was conducted in 2006 by researchers from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., and was a follow-up to an earlier survey conducted in 1999. Both were funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The results, which will be published in the December issue of the American Journal of Infection Control, showed that while hospitals reported an increase in staff devoted to infection control, increasing numbers of patients fell prey to hospital-acquired infections. There were 5.2 cases of MRSA per 1,000 hospital admissions in 2005, up from two per 1,000 in 1999. There was also an upward trend in C. difficile infections, and the number of hospitals reporting new cases of infection with VRE soared. “We have to roll up our sleeves,” said lead author Dr. Dick Zoutman, head of infection control at Kingston General Hospital. But while the numbers don’t look good, the director of infectious disease prevention and control with Ontario’s public health agency raised a couple of important caveats. Dr. Michael Gardam suggested hiring new infection control staff is only one step in improving a hospital’s infection control performance. Real improvement requires a commitment and effort from all those involved in patient care in an institution, he said – and that takes time. “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” Gardam said. “You need to have more infection control practitioners. And you need to bring about culture change. And just doing the resources side of things I don’t believe will actually get you there.” Gardam also suggested the numbers might have been worse but for the injection of resources that followed the 2003 SARS outbreak and the C. difficile crisis, which first came to light in 2004. “Probably we are having an impact, we are slowing the increase,” said Gardam, who was not involved in the study. “But we’re not actually achieving a real steady state and we’re not actually seeing a decrease.” That’s especially worrying given the current state of the economy, said both Zoutman and Simor, who noted that infection control efforts are an easy target when hospitals are trying to cut costs. “I’m concerned now that it’s more challenging economic times … that we don’t lose (sight of) this,” said Zoutman. “Because it’s a false economy. It’s penny wise, pound foolish.” “
and don’t you dare get sick and go to a Hospital you might have to find out what the doctors, nurses, hospital and Medicare are really like now too

Victims of deadly C. difficile outbreak

Victims of deadly C. difficile outbreak seek right to sue Quebec hospital –  MONTREAL – Victims of two outbreaks of C. difficile at a hospital near Montreal are asking the court for permission to sue the hospital for millions of dollars. A class-action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the victims, both dead and living, as well as the Association to Defend Victims of Nosocomial Infections. Lawyer Jean-Pierre Menard is expected to announce further details during a news conference Thursday morning in Montreal. C. difficile is a common bacterial infection in hospitals but it can be especially deadly in people weakened by illness. Sixteen people died at the Honore-Mercier Hospital in St-Hyacinthe after contracting C. difficile between May and November of 2006. Quebec coroner Catherine Rudel-Tessier conducted an investigation into the deaths and found the hospital’s administration partly to blame for failing to prevent the spread of the infections.

Perverts define this Health problem as a superbug problem, but the real problem is really the sick  people who do not wash their hands when they go to the bathroom, or before they eat, when they serve others and also the cheap hospital administrators, governments  who do a bad job of keeping hospital clean, or disinfecting them from,  shit, urine, etc.,..

“The expertise exists — relatively close by — to help Ontario set up a system aimed at getting a handle on the C. difficile crisis. The  opportunistic superbug has been connected to several hundred deaths in  Ontario since 2006. Quebec, responding to a C. diff crisis of its own that started in early  2004, developed and put in place an interhospital information-sharing  strategy, along with mandatory reporting of C. diff cases and intense  scrutiny of hospitals regarding everything from reporting structures to  toilet-cleaning methods. The Quebec model has been recommended to other provinces, including Ontario.  It’s time-consuming and requires a high level of open communication, as well  as monitoring, data interpretation and problem-solving. But Quebec has  demonstrated it can be done.” http://www.thespec.com/Opinions/article/406150   TheSpec.com – Opinions – Quebec C. diff system works    July 21, 2008  The Hamilton Spectator

But copying the Quebec program will not work that easy in Ontario still.. Quebecers historically have been people caring persons, more compassionate persons now too, regardless of the costs,  unlike the too often money hungry  persons of Ontario..

About a decade ago when I started to use  the health system in Canada, in   Alberta and next in Quebec, I started at the wrong time too to next see what it really was like, inadequate and with much too many unacceptable shortcomings too.

Ontario’s Jo Brant Hospital had begged for funds The governments falsely play with our lives.. “Last September, a Quebec coroner investigating C. difficile deaths in Saint-Hyacinthe concluded the principal problem that fuelled an outbreak there was management’s need to save money and its decision to skimp on prevention measures.  Clostridium difficile or C. difficile is a bacterium that causes diarrhea and more serious intestinal conditions such as colitis. It is the most common cause of infectious diarrhea in hospitalized patients in the industrialized world.  Control measures include extra housecleaning, cleaning patient rooms twice a day and making sure even the phones and light switches are cleaned with heavy duty products that kill C. difficile spores….  a number of factors contribute to C. difficile outbreaks including the severity of the disease, the abilities of the organism to live on surfaces for months, elderly patients, older hospitals with multi-bed rooms and overcrowding of facilities.    An infectious disease expert who fought on the front lines of the Quebec C. difficile outbreak that claimed thousands of  lives says it’s “surprising” Ontario has taken so long to target the infection. “It’s a bit surprising that Ontario, which is right next door to Quebec, would wait for so long to implement a basic surveillance system,” said Dr. Jacques Pepin, an infectious disease expert at Sherbrooke University. “It’s not very good.” A review of deaths by the Infection Prevention and Control Unit of the University Health Network in Toronto shows the outbreak ran from May 1, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2007, starting seven months earlier than originally thought, and that it was about four times as deadly.”  http://www.thespec.com/News/Local/article/365792C

(Rom 13:9 KJV)  For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
1 Cor 15:33 Do not be so deceived {and} misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt {and} deprave good manners {and} morals {and} character.Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived {and} deluded {and} misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.)   For whatever a man sows, that  is (also)  what he will reap.
