The major news this week..

0canada (2)
I am not trying to get your interest with sensationalized one line headers, spin doctoring, or politically correct, pretentious, crowd pleasing  writings, but merely by telling you the undeniable truth as I  see it, others wrote about it too. If you want to be lied to there are many sites who will do that for you but one day you still will have to face the reality, the truth.
According to Statistics Canada, Alberta experienced the largest job losses in the country. The federal agency reported Friday that employment in Alberta decreased by 15,000 last month, pushing the unemployment rate up 0.4 percentage points to 7.5 per cent, up from 7.1 per cent in September and 3.7 per cent a year ago. Since October 2008, Alberta’s employment has fallen by 3.3 per cent, or 68,000 jobs, the steepest rate of decline among all provinces.
OTTAWA – Canada’s economy shed more than 43,000 jobs last month in a clear indication that the struggling economy is still feeling the aftershock of the deep recession that erupted a year ago. and all the liars continued to say the recession in Canada was officially over, things were getting better, etc
“Canadian officials are taking part in negotiations for a top-secret copyright treaty that could see families barred from the Internet for a year if someone in the household is suspected of illegal downloads.Under the worldwide rules of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), Internet service providers such as Bell and Rogers in Canada would be required to become copyright police and filter out pirated material from their networks, hand over the identities of customers believed to be infringing copyrights and restrict the use of identity-blocking software.ACTA would employ a three-strikes policy. People believed to be regularly downloading copy-protected material, such as movie and music files, could have their Internet connection severed for up to 12 months and forced to pay a fine. “It’s incredibly disproportionate. Three unproven allegations of infringement will cut off Internet service for a year for an entire family,” said Michael Geist, who holds the Canada Research Chair in Internet and e-commerce Law at the University of Ottawa.”It’s not based on the individual user, it’s based on the connection,” added Geist, who said he has received details of the proposals from people closely associated with drafting the agreement. The treaty, which is being pushed forward by the Office of the United States Trade Representative, closely mimics the controversial Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that governs copyright issues in the U.S. It puts in place measures that would make it illegal for consumers to make backup copies of DVDs or other media with built-in copy-protection technology. Other provisions could make information on iPods, laptops and other personal electronic devices illegal and force travellers to prove to border officials that the content on such devices was acquired through legal channels.
The federal, provincial governments, the CRTC, Conservatives, Liberals  unfairly maintaining  archaic, monopolistic telecommunication firms, that are often   bloated, cost ineffective, incompetent, over staffed, un-competitively managed as well is the main reasons consumer costs falsely keep on going up now.
TORONTO – The office of Canada’s auditor general says it’s perfectly OK – and much appreciated – if websites link to reports on its government site, but warns they should not be hosted elsewhere. Advocates for copyright reform expressed concern Thursday when the auditor general’s office demanded the Globe and Mail newspaper remove a copy of a report that had been attached to one of its online articles. The Globe was displaying the report with a web application called Scribd, which allows large documents to be embedded on a web page without the need for an external program like Adobe Reader. It also keeps readers on the same web page, rather than sending them off to another site to read the document. Beth Stewart, a lawyer for the office of auditor general Sheila Fraser, said the document was ordered off Scribd’s servers because of concerns with the website’s terms of use. It was her understanding that users of Scribd documents are permitted to alter the files and use them in other ways, Stewart said.
An independent analysis of federal stimulus spending shows Conservative ridings received millions more than ridings represented by opposition MPs. Among the cabinet, Heritage Minister James Moore and Minister of State of Foreign Affairs Peter Kent ranked near the top of list due to their share of projects  in their ridings, An interactive look at the latest unemployment data broken down by province and city
Is Canada still in recession or in mother of all jobless recoveries?   (CP)  OTTAWA — Canada’s economic recovery is suddenly looking vulnerable after Statistics Canada shocked observers Friday with new data showing the country lost 71,000 jobs last month. The October figure was the third major economic indicator that has surprised well to the downside since the Bank of Canada declared the recession over in July. But the grim jobs data – glossed up by a 27,500-gain in self-employment that brought the net loss to 43,200 – puts into question the previous two months of reported gains. In conjunction with gross domestic product readings of zero growth in July and a 0.1 per cent shrinkage in August, the growth predicted for the third quarter appears to have vanished into thin air.
black eye-health care
“If we let Harper put the Conservative logo on EACH dose of H1N1 vaccine – there would be millions in short order.” with absolutely no lack of it…  It would all be very funny if it weren’t so sick.  Ken King, president and CEO of the Calgary Flames, should be embarrassed that he facilitated not only the team’s players, but their families and some executives of the hockey club, to bypass the normal channels to get inoculated ahead of people in the high-risk categories. The City of Calgary has been asking unsuccessfully since mid-October for vaccine units to immunize their police and fire department employees, yet King still sees nothing wrong with jumping the queue. He should do the honourable thing and resign from his position. Albertans and all Canadians deserve nothing less.
A second Alberta health-care worker has been fired for allowing 150 people connected with the Calgary Flames hockey team to jump the queue and receive H1N1 vaccinations at a special clinic last week. Alberta Health Services, the board that oversees health care in the province, made the announcement yesterday, two days after it dismissed “the most senior staff member involved” in the Flames flu controversy. “There is no process for authorization of the use of the H1N1 vaccine for this purpose, as it contradicts existing protocols and processes,” the board said in a statement. No other disciplinary action will be taken, the board said, adding that an advisory has been sent to everyone involved in the vaccination campaign to ensure “no exceptions will be made.”

Canada, OTTAWA – The biggest winners of the Conservatives’ stimulus extravaganza include one of the prime minister’s closest friends, a riding the Tories desperately hope to win in a byelection next week, and a longtime party stalwart.Conservatives come out on top in most provinces.. Eastern Ontario MP Scott Reid, the Nova Scotia riding of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley and British Columbia MP Jim Abbott are three of the clearest winners in the distribution of stimulus spending, a broad analysis by The Canadian Press shows.Reid has deep roots in the party. Before he was elected in 2000, he served as a top adviser to Reform leader Preston Manning during the 1990s. Sharp and loyal, he has often been touted for cabinet, but was sidelined for a while for impolitic comments about bilingualism. He is the deputy House Leader.  Reid recently made the national news by posing with a giant stimulus cheque with his name emblazoned on top.Stimulus has also been relatively generous in the Quebec riding of Montmagny-L’Islet-Kamouraska-Riviere Loup, where the Conservatives hope their candidate can take the seat from the Bloc Quebecois in the byelections next week. The riding has 57 points, which seems low compared with other provinces, but is the fourth-highest in the province where stimulus has been slow to flow.spending programs most susceptible to pork-barrelling dedicate a large amount of money to a national purpose but don’t have specific local goals.. On the West Coast, the clear stimulus winners are longtime Tory MP Jim Abbott in the riding of Kootenay-Columbia..

The news media says that  New Democrat MP Nathan Cullen spent more on travel than any other MP this year, spending $228,603 to fly across Canada and trek around his sprawling British Columbia riding.  At the other extreme was Conservative MP Gordon O’Connor, who spent a mere $6,600 in travel — the least among sitting MPs. While O’Connor’s riding lies just west of Ottawa, his costs pale compared to the $28,553 chocked up by fellow Conservative MP Royal Galipeau, whose riding lies in the east-end of the city.  An analysis by Sun Media of documents tabled in the House of Commons shows a wide discrepancy in the travel costs MPs charged to taxpayers during the past year. And while the figures don’t include many categories of travel such as travel by cabinet ministers related to their jobs, travel by parliamentary committees and international conferences, it does give a glimpse of who is racking up the frequent flyer miles at taxpayers expense. Overall, Conservatives dominated the top 20 list, occupying 11 of the top 20 positions. While many of those who spent the most represent remote and isolated ridings, there were significant cost differences between MPs in far flung ridings. NDP MP Dennis Bevington, who represents the Northwest Territories spent $213,682 while Liberal Larry Bagnell, MP for the Yukon, charged $115,468.

Many senators are decent types trying to make intelligent and constructive contributions to public policy. But Mike Duffy’s only value has become that of poster boy for why the Senate needs, at very least, major reform if not outright abolition. With his wild rant on a CBC national politics show this week, the television icon has accomplished the difficult feat of offending all those in his parliamentary orbit — his former journalistic occupation, the Conservative party, senators, MPs and even the prime minister who appointed him. MP Peter Stoffer noted in passing, Senator Duffy racked up $44,000 in travel costs during just three months of unelected service in the Red Chamber. MPs from all parties have consistently ranked Peter Stoffer as the least partisan and most personable MP in Canada today. This is the same Duffy who, as host of his own politics show, presented himself for decades as journalistically neutral, then accepted Harper’s $130,000 appointment ten months ago and now devotes his energies to shamelessly shilling for the Conservatives.
Our governments and our leaders seem still too ready to allow all of our taxpayer’s monies to be abused and that is unacceptable always. Someone has to be concerned about it, and one of the best ways to deal with the abuses is to expose it and to prosecute fully all the guilty participants. ESPECIALLY THE BAD CIVIL AND PUBLIC SERVANTS.
Firstly It is really a criminal offence to misuse the taxpayers money, to use one’s governmental, job, related resources, time and energy to promote one’s political party too..

Liberals and New Democrats together could unseat Harper   The Prime Minister’s divisive partisan tactics have diminished the public’s respect for politicians in general. In just four years, he has changed the tone of media coverage and public discourse, shifting the mood of the nation toward cynicism and selfishness.  The more simple, practical solution is to arrest Prime Minister rightfully on abusing the taxpayer’s money.. many world wide prime ministers have been successfully tried and convicted for their wrong doings  world wide.  It is undeniable that Harper has already now  hired many supporters into governmental jobs : conservative party supporters, organizers, promoters who also are now using their governmental positions, jobs and positions to promote the Conservative party.. so now do not hesitate to arrest and fire all of them too..  Most people still rightfully do blame the governments, politicians, bad cops and bad judges, for the existence of much too many crooked civil and public servants, crooked business persons, crooked persons in Canada.  More Laws that are unenforced also tend to be still mostly useless too.

We can often know too often our civil and public servants, governments. Medicare now are pretentious and none of that is very acceptable still as well, especially when they take their pay from the taxpayer’s money but now show little good for it still too.

Here also is what I do know  also for sure for decades now too. Visiting the local charge card happy medical doctors tends to be totally inadequate when you have a  serious health issue. In fact mainly, rather only hospital emergency facilities can help you, cause they alone tend to have all the expertise, medical equipment needed to do the proper diagnosis, necessary tests still too.
Meanwhile British Prime Minister Gordon Brown threatens to end Afghan mission unless corruption is tackled.   In a clear policy shift, the Prime Minister cautioned President Karzai that unless he quashes endemic corruption he will have “forfeited” his right to international support. “I am not prepared to put the lives of British men and women in harm’s way for a government that does not stand up against corruption,” he said. “But let me also be clear. People are right to ask whether our soldiers should be placed in harm’s way, if the government of Afghanistan is unable or unwilling to meet its obligations to the Afghan people.  A poll last night showed that opposition to the war has risen markedly in the last fortnight. Only 33 per cent of the British public think that the war can be won, while 57 per cent think that victory is no longer possible.. and what does Stephen Harper Prime Minister of Canada say?

Heads roll in Alberta

Wealth, Power, influence   helps persons to  jump  queue for H1N1 shots too. It is in situations like this one that you can see persons for what they really are and how poor our health system and our leadership is! “Last month a pollster asked Canadians to identify the key strength of our health-care system. An astonishing 90 per cent chose the fact that it is accessible to everyone, free, thanks to the taxpayer.” Now that myth was clearly shattered with the onslaught of the H1N1, swine flu, were undeniable too  many professional persons NOW HAD started to act like swine themselves. The revelations of the many wrong doings come as the World Health Organization warned “intense and persistent” flu transmission continues to be reported in North America, “without evidence of a peak in activity.”  Marie-Eve Bédard, press attache to Quebec Health Minister Yves Bolduc, said board members of hospitals and donors are not entitled to vaccines ahead of the rest of the population.  So problems and immorality continued to haunt this country’s massive vaccination effort and what It’s only easier for people to do the right thing when there’s some shame attached to doing the wrong one. I one being aware of the existance of the much too many liars, spin doctors we have now in Canada found it very hilarious the values false justifications, excuse used to falsely try to approuve  the swine queue jumping.. for it did not change also the fact, this tip of the iceberg now  too,  I can assure you that vaccinations alone are not the main unacceptable issue, but more  specifically the health treatment actually available to all now as well..

Worst yet to come  Edmonton Sun –  Health officials are warning Albertans to brace for a boom in the number of people who will fall severely ill with H1N1 as the virus hits its peak.

A senior staff member within Alberta Health Services has been turfed after members of the Calgary Flames were able to jump the queue and receive H1N1 vaccines. In a statement released today, AHS officials said they only learned of the situation on Monday. An investigation was launched. “Disciplinary action has been taken, resulting in the dismissal today of the most senior staff member involved,” says the statement. “An investigation is continuing and may result in further disciplinary action.” The statement was signed by Ken Hughes, chairman of the Alberta Health Services Board and Dr. Stephen Duckett, president and chief executive officer.

‘The special treatment … is unacceptable to us and contrary to all of our existing protocols and processes. I apologize for this breach of our duty to Albertans.’—Stephen Duckett, Alberta Health Services “I think it sends the message that this will not be tolerated,” said Alberta Health Minister Ron Liepert, adding that he does not know who the dismissed worker is, or why he or she decided to approve the clinic — held on Friday at an unnamed health centre — for the hockey team.   Top officials said they did not know about the arrangements for the Flames organization until Monday. “The decision to allow preferential access to the Flames and their families was a serious error in judgment on the part of the staff involved,” said Stephen Duckett, president and CEO of the board, in the statement

swine flu1

This is a perfect picture of what two tier health care systems look like. The rich get richer and those with money can buy their health care coverage/care. The Flames should be ashamed. Alberta Health Services should be investigated. How did the money/vaccine exchange happen and who’s pocket was filled. I am disgusted.Albertans have let there government get far to comfortable. 30 years in power says, we can do anything and you sheep will continue to vote for us. The governments should fear its people and yours does not.

Ont. minister says she’s outraged at reports that celebrity athletes got H1N1 vaccine  TORONTO – Ontario Health Minister Deb Matthews vowed Thursday to investigate whether celebrity athletes jumped the queue for the swine flu shot while other groups are being forced to wait as the province’s supply dwindles. Minister slams H1N1 shots for Leafs, Raptors.  She said she shares the outrage sparked by reports that professional hockey and basketball players in Toronto got the shot even though the province doesn’t have enough yet to vaccinate school-age children.

Toronto hospital board got H1N1 shots early – Members of the board of directors at Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital were given H1N1 shots last Monday, at a time when many people in priority groups had yet to be immunized. Shortage or not they used their position to beat the system. If you’re rich, famous or connected it seems you don’t have to wait.  Everyone else though…be patient.  Anyone but me tired of hearing ” we jumped to the front of the line because we did not know there was going to be a shortage? ” In whose world does that make it right when pregnant woman and small children spend hours standing in line? Not fair! These people should have had the decency to let the high-risk groups go first.  Sounds like the bureaucrats are looking after themselves again. Buffalo Jump said: “In Alberta they fired the person who made special arrangements for the Flames.   What is going to happen in Ontario?”  Nothing. This is Ontario

Hospital directors and professional athletes were  jumping ahead of children, pregantn women  to get their H5N1 flu shots, Health Minister Deb Matthews says.At least seven Toronto hospitals have given the scarce H1N1 vaccine to their Boards and Governors. Mount Sinai, St. Michael’s, Sunnybrook, Bridgepoint and the University Health Network’s three hospitals are among the list.  Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer addressed this yesterday saying hospital board members are not health-care workers and therefore are not entitled to the shot unless they suffer from a pre-existing medical condition. As of yesterday, the two big London hospitals had vaccinated 5,000 staff. Ontario Health Minister Deb Matthews said yesterday that hospitals should stop making vaccine available to board members and false priorities. Meanwhile, some flu clinics are expected to run out of vaccine this weekend.

MONTREAL – Quebec’s health minister has criticized preferential access to H1N1 vaccines that have been brought to light across the province.  Yves Bolduc told a news conference Saturday he disapproved of a Montreal hospital’s decision to vaccinate its top donors. Bolduc said no special privileges should be given for vaccinations in the province.  Media reports say a few weeks ago, Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital inoculated 200 donors who weren’t on priority lists.  According to hospital officials, the donors spend a lot of time in the medical centre and come in contact with patients.  Earlier this week, vaccine manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline was criticized for immunizing its employees and their families ahead of many priority groups.  In Ontario, board members at Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital got the H1N1 shot last week and the University Health Network is offering the vaccine to its board and executives, along with nurses, doctors, volunteers and other hospital workers.
Winnipeg’s 12 H1N1 immunization clinics will be closed until Thursday unless a new shipment of vaccine arrives ahead of schedule. Winnipeg closes H1N1 clinics until next week

*** I can assure you that vaccinations alone are not the main unacceptable issue, but more  specifically the health treatment to all now as well.. for years ago I specially had written to all that I had interviewed a senior  nurse at the Montreal Jewish general Hospital for their selection criteria for essential surgery and she told me the committee chooses on the basis of 3 selections :
1: Relatives of Hospital workers, and doctors
2: Young people under 30 year old
3: Rich, influential persons.
and so nothing unacceptably has changed here decades later now too?

One’s false denial can be an ACTIVE disregard for facts and circumstances or a more subtle expression of ones unreal personal preferences, their fanatsy.
Denial, it is very very common when many an individual, even amongst so called professionals, even in pastors now included,  are openly confronted with their own wrong doings, that they resort to a false denial. When confronted with the truth the denier they  often respond with a similar personal counter attack remark as   ”you are crazy”. “I reject your reality… and substitute my own.” Their false denial, diversion, distortion does not change the negative reality about themselves still though. Denial too often can be  further disastrous upon themselves and others.. Sadly it is a negative natural human tendency to devolve into denial.”  It’s not just a moral compass that’s lacking, but the ability to honest, or to stand apart. Denial often comes out of a false pride, a fear of being openly exposed as being wrong. Denial is a false convenient escape, excuse for inaction  for persons now  facing a situation that requires a decision or action that conflicts with his or her established past policy. For denial is not seeing data at all or seeing it and coming to an erroneous conclusion within oneself.
Denial (also called abnegation) is a defense mechanism postulated by Sigmund Freud, in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence, a mechanism of the immature mind that conflicts with the ability to learn from and cope with reality. The subject may now deny the reality of the unpleasant fact altogether (simple denial), admit the fact but deny its seriousness (minimization) or admit both the fact and seriousness but deny responsibility (transference). The concept of denial is particularly related to the denial of one’s addiction to alcohol for example, or to one slandering others, abusing them stealing, lying.. their denial or their  minimization of their own wrong doings is the  essential part of what enables them next to to continue his or her behavior in the face of evidence that, to an outsider, that is   overwhelming.   “The American Heart Association cites denial as a principal reason that treatment of a heart attack is delayed. Because the symptoms are so varied, and often have other potential explanations, the opportunity exists for the patient to deny the emergency, often with fatal consequences. It is common for patients to delay mammograms or other tests because of a fear of cancer, even though this is clearly maladaptive.”

Types of Denial include now the Denial of fact: This form of denial is where someone avoids a fact by lying. This lying can take the form of an outright falsehood (commission), leaving out certain details in order to tailor a story (omission), This form of denial involves avoiding personal responsibility by blaming, minimizing or justifying.   Denial of responsibilityDenial of impact: avoiding thinking about or understanding the harms their behavior have caused to themselves or others.  Denial of awareness: they do not admit any previous awareness of the negative reality.  Denial of cycle: Denial of cycle is where a person avoids looking at their decisions leading up to an event or does not consider their pattern of decision making and how harmful behavior is repeated. Denial of denial:  This latter form of denial typically overlaps with all of the other forms of denial, but involves more self-delusion. People in a false denial are really nuts, delusional.. One’s false denial is often based on a false assumption  of one’s past great success and often precedes their own severe personal failure next  due to a personal disconnect with real life. Illustrated fully by the story of the Emperor with new clothes.

There are tools and practices that we can implement to overcome the psychological trap of denial. Public exposure and prosecution of the guilty is one of the best approach serving everyone’s best interest too. It is a clearly established fact with good basis as to why our Canadian leaders, politicians, police, military, public and civil servants  who are always to be exemplary are even personally are to held to a higher standard, accountability in reality.
People in leadership office do have to face higher penalties as an example now too. It is clearly established, accepted fact by most people that those in leadership civil and public servants cops, teachers, ministers, politicians included  are always to be exemplary in behavior,  conduct and they do need to maintain their high standards even out of their working hours, thus to do so they are also to be exemplary  judged, prosecuted  for their own wrong doings with a higher standard over those of us ordinary folks.

CONSERVATIVE Ottawa posts first annual deficit in more than a decade  National Post –’

Chris Selley’s Full Pundit: Brother, can you spare 500 billion dimes? National Post – ‎May 28, 2009‎ Jim Flaherty is easily the worst finance minister in Canadian history,

Flaherty says he won’t resign over deficit outrage. – ‎May 28, 2009‎ OTTAWA – Finance Minister Jim Flaherty insisted Thursday that Canada is in “good shape” despite news the federal deficit would exceed $50 billion this

Flaherty fails his own 120-day test: No jobs, no infrastructure, at least $50 billion deficit OTTAWA – Having arrived at Finance Minister Jim Flaherty’s 120-day self-imposed deadline for stimulus spending, the only result the Harper Conservatives can point to is a record deficit of at least $50-billion and stalled stimulus projects throughout the country, Finance Critic John McCallum said today.

Just the Facts: Jim Flaherty’s top 10 mismanagement moments “”I’m comfortable with our projections. I’m staying with our budget projection. We’re on track.”

– Jim Flaherty on the budget deficit, April 22, 2009

1. Broken promise on income trusts. By imposing a punitive 31.5 per cent tax on income trusts, the Conservative government raided the hard-earned savings of Canadian seniors.

2. Record deficits. Minister Flaherty appears incapable of managing Canada’s finances. In September, he said there wouldn’t be a recession. In October, he promised no deficits. In November, he predicted a surplus. In January, he tabled a budget with a $34 billion deficit. Yesterday, it turned into a deficit of at least $50 billion – the largest in Canadian history.

3. Raised income taxes. The 2006 Conservative Budget legislated an increase in the lowest tax rate to 15.5 per cent as of July 1, 2006, reversing the previous Liberal government’s reduction to the lowest personal income tax rate from 16 per cent to 15 per cent effective January 1, 2005.

4. Failure to get Building Canada Fund infrastructure spending out the door. In the first year following the launch of the $8.8-billion Building Canada Fund, the Conservative government flowed zero funding to infrastructure projects. As recently as February 2009, officials at Infrastructure Canada admitted that of the $1.5 billion announced in its first two years of budgeted spending, only $80 million has flowed for municipal infrastructure projects across the country – only 5%.

5. Broken 120-day economic stimulus promise. Minister Flaherty’s January 2009 budget explicitly stated, “Measures to support the economy must begin within the next 120 days to be most effective.” Yet recent media reports confirm that little infrastructure money has flowed, even for projects strictly under federal jurisdiction.

6. Broken promise on equalization. Minister Flaherty’s 2007 budget broke his government’s promise to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador that they would honour the Atlantic Accord commitment to leave 100 per cent of benefits from offshore resources exempt from equalization calculations.

7. Fudging the environmental benefit of the public transit tax credit. Minister Flaherty dedicated $635 million to a public transit tax credit that his government claimed would reduce green house gas emissions by 220,000 per year. Environment Canada amended the figure for expected reductions to an average of 35,000 tonnes per year-about 16 percent of the original estimate. In February 2009, Auditor General Sheila Fraser concluded that the public transit tax credit will have a negligible impact on Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. She went on to say that it is almost impossible to measure actual greenhouse gas emission reductions attributable to the tax credit, as many factors influence public transit ridership, including the price of gasoline.

8. Fiscal update led to Parliamentary crisis. Minister Flaherty’s 2008 Fall Economic Statement caused a Parliamentary crisis by proposing zero economic stimulus measures on the eve of the recession, focusing instead on partisan measures and cutting funding for pay equity. Prime Minister Harper was forced to prorogue Parliament to save his job, but not before he nearly sparked a national unity crisis by pitting region against region with his rhetoric in the House of Commons.

9. Cuts to culture funding. Minister Flaherty cut $45 million of federal culture funding last year, despite the fact that Canada’s culture sector directly contributed $46 billion – 3.8 per cent – to Canada’s GDP in 2007. The cuts affected every sector in the culture industry, be it international touring for performing arts groups, funding for new-media research or independent film production, or financial support for Canadian writers – touching off a Canada-wide backlash among cultural organizations.

10. Cuts to scientific research. Minister Flaherty cut funding by $148 million in January’s budget to Canada’s three granting councils-the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, Canadian Institutes for Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. According to Statistics Canada, total federal funding for science and technology in 2008 was $365 million less than in 2005 when adjusted for inflation.

CHARLOTTETOWN – A Conservative member of Prince Edward Island’s legislature has been charged with assault in connection with an incident at a demonstration earlier this month over a controversial immigration program.  The charge against Mike Currie, a longtime member of the house, was filed at the provincial court in Charlottetown today.   Protester Rob MacEachern filed a complaint with Charlottetown police on May 6, alleging he was grabbed in the face and chest during the demonstration that day. MacEachern alleges the incident happened after he asked whether Currie’s wife had benefited from the Provincial Nominee Program. The controversial program, which has been heavily criticized by the province’s auditor general, required prospective immigrants to provide funds for local businesses.MacEachern has been a vocal opponent of the administration of the program for months.

Honourable Conservative  Stephen Harper prime minister claims he is doing a good job.. good for him.. only 30 percent of Canadians support him in this still.. 30 percent support the New Democrats.. 30 percent support the Liberals.. it seems we have triplet support…

Harper’s  definition of freedom seems to be a religious police state,  and it does not matter if you cheat, lie, steal, abuse others, are an alcoholic as long as you are married. It also it seems does not matter if you practice your religion too, as long as you have one..

>most libertarians, upset with Harper for calling out libertarians, insisting that Harper-style conservatism is significantly different from libertarianism, .. tells us is that the government ought to be small, and its functions severely limited…. it’s surprising that Harper would categorize his conservatism as an amalgamation of three fundamental “pillars” — Freedom, Faith, and Family.  Is Harper under the impression that individual liberty will lead to a mass abandonment of churches, a mass disintegration of society, the end of the nuclear family?  Libertarians are angry with Harper because he hasn’t made the government smaller, hasn’t cut taxes aggressively enough, and has seen fit to spend a boatload of money on a “stimulus” package that conservatives in the U.S. are decrying. Libertarians have been angry with Harper for the same reasons that fiscal conservatives have been angry with Harper. Why single out the libertarians? And it has more to do with insisting that Harper live up to what he used to say he believed  that he considered himself a “classical liberal,” which is just a synonym for libertarian). Andrew Coyne was right. We have very good reason to despise politics, and to hate what it does to people who become politicians. Stephen Harper used to be a libertarian. But, without explanation, he’s decided he isn’t one any longer, and he’s decided to pick a fight with libertarians.

The  past Ontario  premier he slept with a women who was not yet divorced from her husband.. not exactly exemplary family living.. then he called the police to suppress my freedom of speech on the matter.. and what religion did he really practice too now?

STEPHEN HARPER’S false DEFINITION OF A CONSERVATIVE PERSON IS EXACTLY THE DEFINITION I WOULD EXPECT FROM RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISTS WHO WANT FREEDOM OF RELIGION ENSURED. Harper is clearly trying to win back the support of the relgious right who feel he has led them down.. Harper for them he has not worked hard enough to oppose abortion, gays, all of the bad guys and gals, or to adequately promote religion as a professing Christian Evangelical..

I am surprised that the religious fundamentalists are not loudly objecting to this still Harper distortion too…

The biggest threat to families in Canada does not come from gay marriage, or abortion, or any of the other traditional social-conservative hobby-horses. It comes from divorce, since in Alberta there is no legal separation.. note this fact 30 percent of evangelical Christians practice divorce even cause many  pastors counsel it often, they are sex maniacs who like to keep their sex options open, even though God hates divorce.

OTTAWA – Canadians are losing their jobs at the rate of one every 30 seconds but Prime Minister Stephen Harper is incapable of feeling their pain, NDP Leader Jack Layton said yesterday. After speaking to the NDP federal council, Layton said that while hundreds are losing their jobs daily, Harper would rather talk about how the country is doing relatively well. “You don’t get a sense from this government that Canadians are suffering. In fact, he’s out there trying to say everything is rosy or just about to be rosy … and I have said, `Take off the rose-coloured glasses and talk to some of the people who have been thrown out of work,'” Layton told reporters. “They don’t seem to get it,” said the NDP leader, reminding reporters that Harper’s human resources minister, Diane Finley, recently said she wasn’t about to make Employment Insurance “lucrative for (the unemployed) to stay home and get paid for it.” In his speech, he accused Harper of making Canada’s economic downturn even worse by not acknowledging earlier that the country was headed into a recession.  Layton noted that since the October federal election, more than 300,000 Canadians have been thrown out of work, unemployment climbed to 7.7 per cent in February and the trade deficit has ballooned to $900 million. “Our economic straits are dire, but as we know we didn’t get here overnight … In September Stephen Harper was still claiming `the fundamentals of the Canadian economy are sound’ – yet another example that Stephen Harper is out of touch,” he said.  “By denying the problem, he has delayed our economic recovery.”

Actions, real concrete type, speak louder over cheap words, lies, spins..

Rightfully the creation of real, permanent manufacturing jobs that make and sell goods at home or abroad, export goods  is the only valid job stimulus I basically uphold, support, and the rest for me is mere wastes, throwing out good money or  mostly  makes the rich get richer, IT DOES NOT HELP THE POOR, UNEMPLOYED now REALLY….
Now Eighty-five per cent of the autos and parts produced in Canada flow to the U.S., where demand for vehicles has plummeted by 50 per cent, so new goods and new markets also do have to be developed now. It’s what American consumers do and buy, not just what Canadians do and buy that counts now too. Job Stimulas means valid  sales, marketing, manufacturing developments and so Mr Harper where is it really seen now? Where???????
So Canada’s PM Stephen Harper’s Throne speech targets economy, but is short on real detail. Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper only gives cheap words, talks big and says a  US recovery is first  necessary for a Canadian rebound, and next  Canada will emerge from slump stronger,  , or  Canada to emerge from global crisis before others and stronger  too or Canada’s PM is upbeat about the future economy  now still are all more mere lies for me and not the truth, realities. Harper has a known long history of being a big liar already too
First budget progress report reports little actual progress  OTTAWA – The Harper government issued its first budgetary progress report Tuesday, insisting it’s ready to start rolling out $20 billion worth of economic stimulus in April – provided that Liberals don’t delay passage of budget legislation.
So tell us all now how many new manufacturing jobs now were made the last 2 months in Canada, and/or how many were lost instead? Reality.

In Contrast US President Obama, who marked his 50th day in office on Tuesday, has proposed a wide-ranging plan of tax increases on the wealthy, a costly program to reshape the nation’s healthcare system and set a marker for developing a system aimed at limiting greenhouse gas emissions.

Quebec premier promises to make employment his government’s top priority QUEBEC – The months ahead will be difficult for Quebec, Premier Jean Charest said Tuesday as he kicked off a new sitting of the national assembly by promising to make employment his top priority.

According to the pastor Harper was a good christian. The  hypocritical, pretentious fundamental right winged evangelical pastor of New Life Beginings in LaSalle, Quebec  Preaches next openly today now  for us not to have anything to do with a person who drinks wine, and to stand up against all people who do any wrong, to openly speak to them, and lies and says come and talk to me your pastor after church. I am always really interested to hear from you about all of your concerns but  in reality when you do try to talk to him..  I thus told him Harper drinks beer.. but since he himself cannot handle negative truths, he the ostrich no good pastor refuses to talk with me  and  says I am tired now, I refuse to hear any of that, I refuse to believe any of that, that is all gossip,  slanders, and we do not allow anyone who causes disturbance, problems, gives any criticism in our church, so please leave now. So much for their false professing Christian love, brotherly love, their openness now, free speech too.. The same pastor says he does not believe anything the news media writes at all. So who does he believe? only himself it seems.

For the record, Stephen Harper Prime Minister of Canada himself now did  not even deny to me that he drinks beers and/or alcohol, or that he even gives presents of alcohol to others as well. So why do any of the others?

too many Conservatives still also lie and say you can be a good family man and be an alcoholic as well..
the sad reality contradicts it often..  the broken next  homes..

and no man can serve two masters, for he will love one and hate the other..

PS anyone who is naive to say that professing Christians do not drink alcohol, get drunk just should read all the letters I often do get from professing Christian pastors acknowledging they drink wine, alcohol and trying to justify it.. I have often written about this too

CANADIAN HEALTH CARE medical cartoons

While Automobile traffic accidents are the number one cause of death for Americans, Canadians  ages 3 to 33 ad while Automobile traffic accidents are the most common source of personal injury the real  Statistics still indicate that hospital deaths due to hospital acquired sickness, medical errors, medical negligence exceedingly surpass all of these numbers. And yet here not enough is being done about this and why is that?
One in 18 patients suffered potentially preventable injuries after being admitted to Canadian hospitals, according to a new two-year study. Health-care and medication-related trauma such as bed sores and the side effects of receiving the wrong medication accounted for 37 per cent of the documented incidents. Infections made up an additional 37 per cent, followed by procedure-related trauma like bleeding after surgery (23 per cent), and patient accidents (3 per cent). Multiple forms of patient harm were involved in one out of every five cases.
Now for any ostriches who cannot face negative realities then visit

Many persons who are fed up with the APPARENT INADEQUACIES even in the socialized medicine would like us to believe that a private medical system is better… and that is mere wishful thinking.. for even in a private system there are too often the same inadequacies, even for the same reasons, the apparent lack of supervision of medical personnel and services,
So who is really looking after my rightful complaints about the bad   Hospitals ombudsman, doctors, nurses in reality? finally someone claims they are?

The really sad, unacceptable aspect of our still often inadequate, poor medical care system in Canada is that our pretentious governments do not manage it at all, as a result it has a lot of short comings, serious short  comings one tends to find out only when one gets sick and goes to the doctors, hospitals.. and why does our governments, leader not care? they are still getting paid to look after us firstly.. and unless that is changed for them they will continue that way too..

Last Monday FEB 22, I had now met in the emergency ward of the MONTREAL WEST ISLAND Pointe Claire Lakeshore General Hospital a patient who was next to my father, As you know my father was admitted here also due to cardiac failure, water on the lung on Monday now, M Bergeron ( NOT HER REAL NAME ) M Bergeron now she had fallen on the street on the ice had broken her arm, and had also hurt her hip. The hospital had put a cast on her arm, and next the emergency room, triage nurses had wrongfully tried repeatedly to force the patient to walk so that she could be discharged. The patient was crying in agony in pain while the cruel, despotic, unsympathetic nurses at the LGH were forcing her to walk in my witness as well. And days later the same patient was still in the same bed and had not received any appropriate treatment for her leg, she now was transferred to the overflow ward where she was next forgotten by her original doctor, even though finally it was confirmed that she did have a fractured hip. I am confident that had she been a young person she would have got the treatment within 24 hours. On Friday Feb 26, now five days later, the nurse on her morning rounds discovers M Bergeron had now a high temperature, was vomiting, and had diarrhea, and M Bergeron was send to the isolation room in the same section. The Nurse next phoned a new doctor from the ER to come and see her which he did about 10.30 AM, THAT SHE TOO NOW HAD THE nova VIRUS, FOOD POISONING VIRUS, THAT WAS RAMPANT ON THE FOURTH FLOOR, the LGH orthopedic ward, so also it was very likely the visiting doctor from the orthopedic floor who had visited her in the first emergency center that passed it on to her, cause she was not seen by any doctors in the overflow section prior to today, and I have been there for the whole week now too with my father. The new emergency doctor phoned the original doctor in my presence and complained to him he had neglected his patient. M Bergeron and arranges medical tests CT scan for her, which were done about 3.00 pm today. About 7.00 pm next during evening shift M Bergeron had shit in her diaper and she as I had heard had called both senior nurses on duty to change her diaper, and they had refused to do so, it was supposedly below their dignity to do so, AND THE MALE ORDERLY HAD GONE FOR HIS BREAK, AND SO M Bergeron SHE LAY THERE IN HER SHIT, AND M Bergeron HAD NEXT ASKED ME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. SHE ALSO COMPLAINED TO ME SHE WAS FREEZING IN HER ISOLATION ROOM, AND I TALKED TO THE NURSES ON DUTY BUT THE NURSES ON DUTY THIS EVENING NOW STILL REFUSED TO CHANGE HER DIAPER AND COULD NOT HELP HER WITH THE HEAT PROBLEM.

I know from personal experiences and that even of another family member, My father, the after Emergency Hospital visit medical follow services at McGill University Hospitals especially  such as the Montreal Jewish General Hospital, and the Lake shore General Hospital tend to be very pathetic, unacceptably disastrous, really bad, inadequate   compared to other Hospitals.. I saw firsthand how my own father got poor, useless medical follow-up in the last 2 years at the LGH. Now one in 20 Canadians who has a heart attack – a common cause of rehospitalization – is urgently readmitted within a month of being discharged, according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information. Now also  include  some other common serious sickness as well. An analysis published last year in the New England Journal of Medicine showed the chances of rehospitalization only increase over time. Generally, the sicker the patient and the longer and more frequently they spent time in hospitals, the greater their chances of dying or being rehospitalized. For one example, many patients who leave hospital with chronic illnesses such as heart failure or diabetes are at high risk of being readmitted. But often, they are left to cope on their own. Many patients do not get clear instructions on what medications they should be taking, and they frequently have difficulties making additional, specific doctor appointments to continue treatment outside the hospital. A number of patients return because they do not have access to a competent family doctor and so are regular users of the emergency room.

Medical reports awaited on three drug mistakes at children’s hospital Vancouver Sun –  March 1, 2010 CALGARY – One year after several medication errors at Alberta Children’s Hospital, there are still lingering questions about what went wrong in the three cases – including two non-fatal drug overdoses

Now speaking about useless medical care, deaths..  Relocate all the doctor’s offices and related tests to the local Hospitals  and have them work the evening shifts,   there for a start.. 4 to 12 pm,  What you did not notice that many local Hospital  facilties are not being even  used evenings?

You should know by now the standard tests that most Doctors prescribe, X-rays and EKG’s, etc.,  now  tend to be propitious, basic, pretentious, too often useless, a waste of tax payer’s money as well especially if you are seriously ill..  That is cause there are good and bad doctors, and most of them seem to be bad these days. Don’t believe me find out for yourself.. I recently saw 4 incompetent doctors who ran the same useless tests, cause they did not know what else to do in fact.. needless to say they were of no legitimate, adequate  help to me.. yes they admitted there was a problem they were unfamiliar with though.. so what.. what about their real medical help? I measure real  results not the degrees they supposedly do have..

My neighbor and his wife go to one local McGill doctor and he said there is no cure for your wife’s arm pain. he goes to another McGill doctor and the doctor says there is a cure, it requires surgery. How can you have one Doctor  so stupid now ?
More and more people I talk to agree with me that there are now much to many indifferent doctors and nurses, social welfare workers now too  need to be held criminally responsible for their false, past neglect, abuse  of their patients, people in their care  in reality. I agree. I rightfully do now demand it.

Doctors are ordering tests or procedures not based on the  ACTUAL need but a RIGHTFUL CONCERN OF LIABILITY or increasing their income is still  the biggest waste of health care dollars STILL…

Don’t get the false impression that Canada’s health services is really bad, it is not, it is adequate, but it can be improved, and so can the services we get from the local doctors now too. I found that the Health care in Montreal Quebec  is one of the best in Canada.. and I too have had serious problems.. including congestive heart failure, heart attack, heart surgery, diabetes, etc., and I continue to get good care in Montreal… the care you get depends on the doctor you selected as well.. there are badly managed  Hospitals and bad doctors  in every province in Canada too as well as good ones.. The McGill University Hospitals still do  tend to provide some of the worst medical care over other local Hospitals too.. While  the health care in Montreal that still needs great improvements surpasses significantly what I have experienced in Calgary where the cheap Albertan government has not given enough budget money for the proper medical care, surgery firstly..
The doctor  examining an elderly patient  who was complaining of his chronic pains next says , “I am sorry there is nothing I can do for you”. The Patient replies, “Doctor if it was your own pain you would have found a cure for it.”
DO SEE ALSO  A very sick Ontario EHealth scandal
The type of service you will get really depends on the type of doctor you have, on the province you are in, on the specific hospital you go  to as well and it varies.. from bad, very poor to great. You may have to go to at least 3 different doctors as a result.
Here is an undeniable fact.. Most of the major sicknesses such as cancer, heart sicknesses are firstly   actually due to poor eating habits, eating junk food.. AND it is a fact that a proper eating diet can help a lot of people not to get sick again too.. thus the regular services of a dietician, which also is less costly over a visit to a doctor too,  would help almost every sick person in Canada, even to reduce next  the number of Doctor, hospital visits and yet Hospitals, governments wrongfully  refuse to  provide such services exept to the selected few patients.
A man approaches the front  reception  desk of a local Hospital and says to the receptionist ” The Hospital   Ombudsman  says I am crazy”. The receptionist replies “the Psych ward is on the second floor and someone can help you to get there”. He replies “Good and thank you, I want to commit MY WIFE  to the ward”.
A causally dressed visitor was standing by a recently admitted patients in the Hospital triage section, discovered many persons coming to ask him medical questions, and when he asked them why they were coming to him they had replied ” I thought you were a doctor cause you were standing there doing nothing”.
Williams’ surgery available in Canada: cardiologists –  Canadian cardiologists say they perform the exact surgery that Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams underwent in Florida, despite his assertion that it was not available in Canada.
Many matured senior patients with serious medical problems they tend to return solely to the Emergency rooms because they they have learned that family doctor does not have the necessary medical equipment, tools, tests  to diagnose their SERIOUS MEDICAL PROBLMES, only the Hospitals tend to have them generally and so they now are regular users of the emergency room..
Proper medical care and not pretentious Medicare is still our Canadian right.
And anyone who denies it needs to be incarcerated!
Doctors, Nurses, hospital administrators, Premiers, Ministers included.
We pay a significant part of the Doctors, Nurse education, development, Training
and then they falsely try to abuse it to us by their deliberate poor performances.
Most Canadian Medicare, Hospital administrators  in reality still do not not try to improve the medical care system, do not  try reduce the Medical costs, nor do they try to identify the management of chronic diseases as a way of improving patient care and reducing hospital costs. Why should they after all the more patients, the more important they feel they are.
It is billed by the London Police Department Chief as “the best (shooting) range in Ontario.” At $22 million, it is certainly modern but one of the features might sit poorly with judges and civil libertarians.  While police can shoot a fleeing suspect that presents an imminent threat to the public, it is relatively rare in most crimes and raises obvious questions under Tennessee v. Garner. The entire project will ultimately cost $32 million and the facility’s gun range is billed as training officers to do a range of shooting,

Meanwhile  a Toronto doctor is facing a disciplinary hearing over allegations he approved special meal allowances for people on welfare and disability programs according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  Dr. Roland Wong,  said he continues to approve applications for the special diet but only if he believes patients have an underlying medical condition that qualifies them for the financial supplement.  “Today, I signed maybe five, four,” he said. “Sometimes more, depends.”  He accused the auditor general of having a very “slanted view” of the program, and suggested he should be looking instead at the woefully inadequate support payments paid to people in need.  Wong said he wasn’t overly concerned about the disciplinary hearing because it was based on a complaint laid against him by a municipal councillor.  “This is a case of politicians against a physician, not the patient against the physician,” he said.  The Special Diet Allowance provides up to $250 per month to a person on social assistance who requires special foods for such conditions as diabetes.  Councillor Doug Holyday said  . “This can’t go on.”

Quebec and other provinces have no such adequate help program and why?

Mean while a   Whitby law firm is filing a $20-million class action against Moonshin Tattoo in Mississauga and the Peel Region Health Department, alleging that the parlour used unsterilized needles when tatooing as many as 3,000 people over a four-year period — exposing them to possible diseases. It’s the second such lawsuit filed by lawyers Todd J. McCarthy and Sean A. Brown, of Flaherty Dow Elliott & McCarthy — former legal home of federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty — which earlier sued Longhorn Custom Body Art, an Oshawa tattoo studio, in a $10-million lawsuit after Durham Region health authorities urged 2,000 clients to get tested for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. The suit alleges that  health authoritues were required by law to inspect the tatoo parlour at least once a year. The  claim alleges the first inspection at Moonshin took place in early 2005, shortly after the tattoo parlour opened. However, the suit claims that next inspection was not until Feb. 11, 2009, and found that as many as 3,000 individuals may have been exposed to equipment that was not adequately sterilized.
