Bell is still undeniable guilty of bait and switch, false misleading trade, advertising practices.

  Bell was and is a king in misleading others. When Bell advertise something is free, it is not free forever, or when Bell advertise a very low price, it is generally always too good to be true, for what Bell gives with one hand it soon takes away with the other hand.. Bell’s fixed contracts are a one way deal, fixed for Bell’s purposes only. Readily and often changed to suit Bell’s purposes mostly and changed without the customer’s prior approval now too. It is what Bell does not tell you that also now counts and can be really negative upon you and your Bell services.. Their support services are undeniably too often really bad when you need them. But we all seem to know next the hard way that you cannot believe what you hear and read these days especially in advertising, or even in the news or from Ottawa too.

I guess the Canadian federal and provincial governments do still feel, do even demonstrate by doing nothing good about it  that the Canadian citizens are here to be taken advantage off, to be abused daily even by their allowing the false misleading, corrupt business practices like that of the Canadian Bell. Mind you we do often also know already that when others lie like Bell does Bell itself does not hesitate to complain about it.

Alarmed by the company’s decision to limit Internet speeds when using file-sharing programs, customers are treating Bell to a public relations storm, and asking the government to intervene if necessary. The issue is what is known as “traffic shaping” or “throttling,” the slowing down of Internet speeds for certain types of data. Bell Sympatico said last November that it slows the service of people who share files on peer-to-peer networks like BitTorrent and LimeWire. But the final straw for Internet activists came last week, when Bell said it will do the same for Internet providers that resell Bell’s service under another brand. “It’s certain that it disturbs us a lot. We’re talking millions of people that will be affected (in Canada),” said Jean-Philippe   que, president of ElectronicBox, a Bell Internet reseller in Montreal. “We don’t know what technology Bell is using to throttle. We’re wondering if our other services, like Internet telephony, will be affected,” he said. Now   other third-party resellers have hundreds of Canadians rushing to their defence, gathering on Facebook groups decrying Bell and writing letters to the CRTC, to the Competition Bureau and to Industry minister Jim Prentice. One of these is Steve Anderson, a masters student at Simon Fraser University and co-ordinator of Campaign for Democratic Media, an association of lobby groups. “Our main goal is to raise awareness. When people know that Internet providers are trying to shape what applications they can use, they’re naturally appalled and take action on their own accord,” Anderson said. His Stop the Throttler Facebook group, marked by a malicious-looking beaver chewing through a phone cable, had 535 members as of yesterday. Another group, Stop Bell From Throttling DSL Resellers, has more than 1,000 members sharing news items and tales of contempt for Bell. “Throttling without telling customers is just bad PR,”In the U.S., peer-to-peer throttling is a major issue that is receiving Congressional attention. A bill was introduced in February in the House of Representatives to order the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to investigate the practice. In Canada, the topic of so-called Net neutrality has not reached household status. However, observers like Ottawa law professor Michael Geist, believe Bell’s actions will intensify the debate The CRTC, which is also a target of letter writers, said this week it had not received any complaints. The big bad  CRTC Approves New Bell Internet Billing Rates Increase, Plans.
 
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has approved a plan to bill Internet customers by the gigabyte. Bell Canada and Bell Aliant can now charge both retail and wholesale customers based on how much they download each month. The plan, known as usage-based billing, will apply to people who buy their internet connection from Bell, or from smaller service providers that rent lines from the company, such as Teksavvy or Acanac. The CRTC also approved an additional speed option. The CRTC is letting the service providers introduce the pricing plan to its customers, called usage-based billing, whether a customer gets Internet access from Bell or from smaller companies that get their access through Bell’s lines. Some Internet Service Providers that get wholesale services from Bell had opposed the plan, initially presented last fall, saying they could not differentiate their product offerings from Bell’s under such a scheme. The CRTC noted that it also received a number of individual comments, mostly opposed to the proposal. Usage-based billing is seen by providers like Bell as one way to control or manage demand on their networks, often caused by heavy downloading or so-called P2P traffic. Why  are the prices always going up for Bell and the customers instead of down overtime? The CRTC clearly is either incompetent or corrupt. We’d like to be billed in accordance with the contract that we had signed with Bell. Didn’t realize that Bell  could just change the terms of a contract any old time Bell  wanted. It does not take a genius to know that the CRTC have given Bell a license to steal more money from the consumers, customers and Bell providing very little in return back to the customer, Bell still provides lying,  lousy customer services, including the slow down of email and their capping of the downloads too.. Computers, networking hardware, all the tech stuff needed to get the Internet to your door gets cheaper every day…. Hard drives used to be thousands of dollars for 5 megabytes…. now they are pennies on the gigabyte(1000 megabytes)…. Yet Rogers and Bell seem to keep on raising the prices…. they are greedy for a start.

Just cause you got a Smartphone

MANUFACTURERS TO launch A NEW PHONE   by Christmas?  or their new tablet and likley touch screen against the ipad.. don’t you hate it when you just spend loads of money for a new gadget it is already ready to become shortly obsolete again too.
   

“Buying a phone is becoming harder and harder these days. There are so many different options on smartphones that it is hard to keep up with all the latest technology. With phones and tablets almost completely relying on touchscreen interfaces, the screens on these devices are easily the most important part of modern day devices. There are several different technologies behind these screens, and we aim to explain what some of these terms mean. If you’ve ever wondered what AMOLED, LCD, IPS, or TFT mean, you’re reading the right article.
These days you really only have two choices of screens when you are buying a smartphone or tablet, LCD or AMOLED. Many of you probably can’t tell the difference between the two screen types, but both technologies have inherent strengths and weaknesses. LCD has been around for a while, but AMOLED phones are gaining popularity thanks to Samsung and other manufacturers. There isn’t a clear winner at this point in time
 
The smartphones demand  has clearly surged, but they use as much as 30 times as much bandwidth as regular mobile phones to run the applications, or “apps,” that make them so popular. This  surge in traffic triggered by video and other apps has led to more dropped calls and choppy service. As video on smartphones becomes more popular, it is leading to more congestion, and forcing the reluctant carriers to spend billions to upgrade their antiquated networks and also to  buy more wireless spectrum. Kind explains why Bell also had to dishonestly cap the regular downloads capabilities on it’s networks to make way for the smart phones. And why Apple’s phones, ipods  are reluctant to  to use video, cameras ..  Just cause you got a Smartphone does not mean it is going to work properly. 
 
 
Now if a user is asked to choose between an tablet and a netbook, the tablet isn’t an adequate substitute and as smartphones become more powerful, and move closer to PCs, the need for a tablet is greatly reduced.
 
The iPad Cons
-There isn’t a camera , there’s no  Skype, with all of that power there is no camera on this device.
-No on board memory card support. You must purchase an optional adapter.
-The iPad will have many books to download and also other cool apps, but what if I want to listen to some music on Pandora, while I read, or work on my iPad I can’t. With all the crazy things I mentioned before about all the powerful things  it is quipped with, those powerful components  run hand and hand with the current iPhone OS (Version 3.2). Therefore even on the iPad you can do no multi-tasking at all. I believe it’s a big setback for the device.
-The battery’s life is great as we spoke about, but if the battery dies completely there’s no way of getting at it to replace, its built in.

Adobe CEO states Flash is coming to Android, Blackberry and WebOS. So video  it is already presenting a big challenge to networks.  “If you think that today’s 3G as a browsing experience is a challenge to these data networks, imagine what a video streaming or download experience is going to be as these screens start to look like HD televisions in terms of resolutions.” There is some amazing technologies for compressing everything from web content, documents, and video but all that in reality is still a long way off.
    
By the way for all those Hollywood companies complaining that their films are being stolen, pirated by others, on the internet before I would even bother to listen to their complaints, I would like to have them all fully reviewed for their too often known, numerous  tax evasions firstly.

THE RELEASE of the Apple  Iphone 3GS has sparked a wave  on the world wide web lately.  As SFGate hack Mark Morford points out, people have suddenly stopped moaning about the fact that the phone lacks a microSD card reader, enterprise capabilities, support for multiple codecs, background processing and a real time GPS, and that it’s slow syncing and has pathetic video upload, a pants camera and a silly single-core processor. Instead TOO MANY FALSE spin stories about the Iphone 3GS “being perfect” have started to become currency. No product however good it is has ever been perfect. The fact that people can say such nonsense is part of the reason I think that the Apple media control machine is worse than any atrocity that Microsoft or Intel ever dreamed up.  The Apple dream is one where ‘perfection’ is defined for you. You buy a slice of that perfection every time you buy a product. It will be perfect until the upgrade comes out and you will have to keep buying or you will not be perfect. This bizarre relationship only exists with Apple and its fans. Microsoft users expect the Vole’s products to go wrong, it is like a running joke. Linux is based on the idea that if something goes wrong the user might be able to fix it. And lots of people have been reporting that their smartphones seem to get too warm if you run GPS stuff on   them.  Moaning that Google will not provide Apple users with its products while at the same time claiming the Apple version is perfect and original really shows up the psychological flaws in most fanboys’ argument. If Safari is so good and perfect why would you want Chrome?  Reality Apple is never perfect..  Apple is a minority operating system. Bell Canada recently is so ready to sue others, first needs to sue itself.

 

  The  CRTC is not looking out for MY interests, as a tax paying citizen, but is an advocacy group for the monopolistic telecommunications giants…  The CRTC’s vice-chairman, Leonard Katz, spent seventeen years working for Rogers and eleven for Bell. Canada’s Telecom Telecommunications Policy Review Panel, tasked with determining regulatory framework, was led by the ex-owner of Inukshuk (sold to Bell/Rogers), an exec that played a huge role in the Bell & Microsoft alliance and a lawyer whose firm represents incumbent operators.  Canadian ISPs (Almost) Come Clean On Throttling

Secondly Bell Canada advertises that it’s internet services are not shared as opposed to cable, so how can I thus have internet web Brower connectivity problems during weekends, when I assume more citizens, are trying to access their web browsers and the internet..
 
And finally what does my distance from Toronto have anything to do with the  internet web Brower connectivity accessibility as well? The only conclusion I can draw to presently is that Bell Canada is deliberately harassing Acanac customers, users thus. Is this so and what is being done about it too?
 
For instance I had noticed  WordPress.com Network problems knocked more than 10 million Word Press blogs offline in a two hour outage on 18 February. But this was only a short, two hour break and not a regular occurrence like I am having with many other of regular sites access….WordPress.com said the problem was caused by a core router change at one of its data centre providers which “broke the site”  and security was not an issue and that the site had not been hacked or hit by a denial of service attack, yet even here there are now access delays
 
I HAVE LONG DELAYS IN ACCESSING MANY of my regular even  NETWORK SITES THESE DAYS. I had many DIFFICULTIES IN REACHING THIS BBC SITE MANY TIMES TOO http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8523323.stm

No one in the GOVERNMENTS, NEWS MEDIA,., CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCIES has yet even satisfactory addressed my basic complaints, concerns, issues here. Why is that? Public exposure and prosecution of the unrepentant guilty persons, corporations still always also serves everyone’s best interest

Canada Mirrors US Broadband Policy, Gets Same Crap Results Dslreports We’ve watched Canada’s biggest carriers grow more powerful, while independent Canadian ISPs slowly have been fighting for their life. Canadian regulators like the CRTC, stocked with former Bell and Rogers executives, have repeatedly ignored anticompetitive attacks on small carriers. Regulators have tried to prevent wireless competitors from entering the market because they weren’t Canadian enough (aka protectionism). Cable’s biggest carriers are happily now imposing ridiculously low caps and high per gigabyte overages, while Canada’s falling down the rankings in terms of price per MB, speed, and broadband penetration.

So much for any promised Consumer protection.. Advertising Standards Canada

 

 
 

 Canada’s telcos such as Bell  are at a clear disadvantage in the battle with the cable companies, for internet speeds as well, cable firms  have modern coaxial cable networks that support greater bandwidth use than the phone companies’ too common mostly copper wire and so in overcoming this Bell resorts to lies, false misleading advertisements for years now too.
 
Even Bell has been clearly  guilty of false misleading adverting with regard to their network reliability and speed the last decade and what only know it is coming to the surface, and why did it takes so long even?

 Bell’s misleading spin advertising of their new diet is high in fibre  is still mere scrap bones to the dogs cause it does not apply to the majority of users.. not for even a decade.. they are promising to serve better their new customers while they are seriously bleeding away still their old customers.. Bell is always a misleading advertising  approach. In Ontario, Bell is also feeling pressure from rival Rogers, which has been offering 50-megabit download speeds and  in Quebec   cable provider Videotron began offering download speeds of 50 megabits two years ago. Videotron has 100 Mb/s speed almost everywhere(95-99%) on its network  Since 2006, Vidéotron has added more TV and broadband subscribers in Quebec than Bell; and since it launched residential phone service through its cable connections in 2005, it has gained 30 per cent of that market, Bell has to do a lot of work on its infrastructure. Do you know that there are residents withing 50 km of Ottawa, supposedly our nations capital and Canada’s Silicone Valley, that do not have access to high speed internet service. I can only imagine what it is like in a truly rural setting.

Your still paying Bell for what was promised but not being delivered to you mostly. Bell, of the 4 major providers, is typically the slowest of the bunch as it is. Vancouver-based internet provider Novus Entertainment also announced on Thursday it was boosting speeds, up to a whopping 200 megabits.

 I hate Bell almost as much as I hate Rogers and Telus What good is a higher bandwidth when the companies cap the amount you’re allowed to download?  All the “theoretical” speed in the world means squat when they throttle it all to hell anyways. Oh and don’t forget the 60 gig cap … so … you can blow through your monthly limit in an hour or so …   it doesn’t mean squat when you cant even max it out for more than an hour before you hit your unbelievably download limit and have to pay an arm and a leg for what the rest of the world gets for free. If your also not within 300 meters of the remote that offers these speeds than your back to 7 meg (though your paying for 20) I really wish the competition bureau would say something about this illegal advertising   Remember, you can’t spell Bell without bill and you can’t spell hell without Bell ;  And those fake “fibre” services are only in certain areas from Bell right now. If you don’t live in an area over 1 mill your back to world lagging best effort 3 meg service. Now  most Bell internet customers have a theoretical speed of 7 megabits. Actually customer speeds are “up to 7 megabits”, and usually far less than 1 megabit. And, don’t forget about throttling that Bell engages in.I avoid Bell at every opportunity. The questionable business practices and the call centre in New Delhi are two good reasons to avoid these clowns.  I abandoned Bell 3 years ago – they have lost a customer in internet, TV, cell phone and landline service – after horrendous customer service. Bell Sympatico AND Why I Quit Them Posted on January 17, 2010 by Gregory West  Do yourself a favour and switch to Cable Internet RIGHT NOW…I was an original Bell Sympatico High Speed customer from DAY ONE, well in excess of a decade. Two months ago I finally had enough of their TECH HELP employees guessing, lying and hanging up on me. But the most important reason I quit Bell is that they kept lowering my High Speed (throttling down is the term). They said the didn’t do it but when I phoned (several times on the same issue) and complained that my Internet connection was soooooooooooo sloooooooooow…They said they would boost it up and it would take 24 hours…Guess what? As soon as I hung up my Internet speed was back up to the regular speed of Bell. It was my son-in-law (who works for a local cable Internet company) who suggested I test drive cable Internet…Guess what? an Abusive Relationship, or, Why I Hate Bell Canada I had a very tiny question to ask Bell Canada last week — I mean really trivial. My phone number had changed because of some harassing calls and I was unclear whether this would affect how I paid my Bell bill over the Internet. Easy question. One that you would think is actually fairly common. So I called Customer Service, which in the land of Bell Canada, means a journey down some dark and twisty roads. First off: put on hold, which is never promising. And then after speaking with five agents, being dropped not once but twice, and wasting 65 minutes of my life, not to mention the emotional trauma of becoming volcanically angry, I got an answer to my friggin’ question. A bit of context. In the decades I have dealt with Bell Canada, I have called Customer Service maybe five times. And every time it has been the same story of ignorance, evasion and nonanswers. I cannot remember a pleasant, easy conservation with any Bell Canada service agent. I’m positive Bell Canada pisses off hundreds of customers daily. For how many is speaking to Customer Service agents the end of the line, so to speak ? For me it was. Bell Canada, I have put up with your condescension, your arrogance and your crap for 27 years. I kept thinking it would get better, but it hasn’t. And then I finally figured it out. We do not have a relationship of mutual respect. Our relationship consists of you abusing me, and me taking it and coming back asking for more. It is the classic relationship of the abuser and abused. And guess what, Bell Canada? You aren’t a monopoly anymore. I don’t have to take it. I quit. I quit you and all your works. I know you don’t care if I go over to the competition. There are plenty more sheep. But I hope other people do in thousands and hundreds of thousands until you get the message: your customers need to be treated with respect. and I finally did it – we cancelled our satellite subscription. November 18h to be exact. Our 3 year mandatory term was up and with much research we knew we could save a few bucks each month by switching to cable. We also knew that our reception would be so much better – no interference, disruptions and total blackouts whenever a snow storm was about or, in fact, right in our own backyard. Not to mention cleaning off black ice from our receiver in the wee hours of the evening! Our account with Bell Satellite would end on the 4th of December but with 30 days notice we would be disconnected on December 18th. During our research we had also realized that our Bell account (satellite, internet and home phone) had increased $20.00 a month over this past year alone.   Trust me, that telephone call with Bell was like pulling teeth in trying to get them to reduce or delete one of their “theme packages”. Telus, Rogers and Bell: Are You Listening?  15 01 2010  From MacRumors: Responding to price cuts from Verizon, AT&T today rolled out new unlimited plans for all devices on its network, including the iPhone. Under the new plans taking effect on Monday, iPhone customers can sign up for unlimited voice and data for $99.99 per month, although texting packages remain separate for an additional fee. The unlimited voice and data plan represents a $30 discount from the previous unlimited plan for the iPhone. All smartphone customers, including iPhone customers, may now buy unlimited voice and data for $99.99. For smartphone customers with Family Talk plans (prices assume 2 smartphones), unlimited voice and data is now available for $179.99. Texting plans remain unchanged at $20 for unlimited plans for individuals, $30 for Family Talk Plans. Existing customers will be permitted to change to the new plans as of Monday via AT&T’s website, with no monetary penalty or extension to contract terms. It is ironic that the courts were asked by Telus to do it to Rogers and that a few days after the negative decision evidenced above, Rogers undertook a suit against such claims by Bell Canada. PRINCE.EDWARD.ISLAND (CBC) – Bell Aliant is squaring off against Rogers Communications Inc. in a New Brunswick court over what it says are misleading advertisements touting the speed and reliability of Rogers internet service.  Bell Aliant filed a claim Monday in the New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench in Fredericton alleging that Rogers’s assertion that its internet service is faster and more reliable than that of other providers is false. Bell Aliant, which operates in the Atlantic provinces and parts of Ontario and Quebec, is asking the court for an immediate injunction to stop Rogers from making those claims in its advertisements. Last year, Bell Aliant announced it would spend $60 million to outfit 70,000 homes and businesses in Fredericton and Saint John with fibre optic technology by mid-2010. In 1996, New Brunswick was where Bell Aliant tested its high-speed internet service before rolling it out elsewhere. Regardless of what the ads say, everyone has their own preference when it comes to internet providers. Bell Aliant customer Oliver Dueck said he’s tried both Bell and Rogers. “Previously, I was a Rogers customer for a while, and then when I moved to my new home, I switched to Bell Aliant simply because it was faster,” he said. Matthew Valentini, a computer consultant in Fredericton, said the war of words between Bell and Rogers is just that. “Both companies are currently selling internet connections that are faster than their networks in New Brunswick can support. So, they’re just using that number to entice you into purchasing their services,” Valentini said. “The latest claim is that Rogers no longer has the fastest and most reliable network. In fact, I would think both companies’ reliability is well up to consumer standards, and I would not see that as something to worry about.” Bell Aliant isn’t the first to take on Rogers over advertising claims.
