Supreme Court creates new public interest Free Speech, libel defence for press and bloggers

And yeah I do get rightfully upset when Hypocrites, Pastors, Church Elders, Catholics, Evangelicals, Protestants, News editors, Jews, Conservatives, red necks, liberals, bad guys too now  want the courts to insure their rigth of free speech protected but they do not allow other people the same right , a too common Canadian event still too..

EVER SINCE THE COPS , NOW ABOUT 10 TIMES TRIED TO DENY MY RIGHT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BAD COPS I NEXT KEEP ON RAISING MY VOICE LOUDER INSTEAD http://postedat.wordpress.com/2009/10/12/supressed-right-of-free-speech-in-canada/

It has always confounded me as to why the crooks, abusers  too often do still do think they can get away with now, next and forever.  Unlawful use of authority, obstruction of justice, home visits, bullying, false intimidations   by the politician’s watch dogs, the cops  is nothing new to me  and

I have been often bluntly truthful , even that while 70 percent of the citizens are average good people, 30 percent are liars, thugs, criminals and you can find them at work, school, hospitals, real estate, police stations, politics, churches too, and these bad people they do belong in jail, jail is what they deserve. I myself have often been threatened by lawsuits from clearly bad or crooked bad Corporations like Bell, Royal LePage, and falsely intimated by even bad  cops, RCMP, and even politically biased  news editors, as well as bad church pastors…  http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/02/12/the-police-already-tap-my-interent-phone/

While God loves all of his children equally and fairly and does not show partiality, Stephen Harper the evangelical, as we  all should know by now he does not, he discriminates and shows false partiality. Cause he really is still a phony Christian

I have to say there so many hypocrites in Canada.. the major media deleted the bloggers personal comment about a Gay Mp.. so much for free speech in Canada.. Gays want acceptance, but they and the news editors, news media do not allow free speech? Such hypocrisy

In accordance with my rights of free speech too … Anyone who has read my blogs I rightfully still do not give an unconditional support for Israel’s past, present, future actions or reactions and I am not an anti Semite and you can tell that to Prime Minister Stephen Harper now too

Supreme Court creates new public interest libel defence for press and bloggers  OTTAWA – The Supreme Court of Canada offered journalists and bloggers a new defence against libel Tuesday in a pair of rulings that were hailed as a landmark victory for free speech.  The rulings effectively exonerated the Toronto Star and Ottawa Citizen newspapers and created the new “responsible journalism” defence that will give reporters more leeway to pursue controversial stories as long as they are deemed to be in the public interest.  Media lawyers hailed the creation of the new defence as a major step towards reducing so-called libel chill, which prompts journalists to back away from contentious stories for fear of being sued, often by powerful interests with deep pockets to pay their lawyers.  The rulings also saved the two newspapers from paying out more than $1.5 million in damages, including $1 million for punitive damages against the Star, one of the largest such awards in Canadian libel history.  The Star story in question was about controversial plans for a golf course, while the Citizen’s articles scrutinized the activities of a former police officer.  The rulings mean journalists can make factual errors, but as long as they take a series of steps to ensure fairness in stories that are deemed to be in the public interest, they cannot be successfully sued for libel.  Chief Justice Beverly McLachlin, writing for the unanimous 9-0 court, said the existing libel defences were too restrictive and contrary to the free expression guarantees in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  “To insist on court-established certainty in reporting on matters of public interest may have the effect not only of preventing communication of facts which a reasonable person would accept as reliable and which are relevant and important to public debate, but also of inhibiting political discourse and debate on matters of public importance, and impeding the cut and thrust of discussion necessary to discovery of the truth.”  The rulings were hailed by media lawyers and journalism organizations as a major step towards modernizing Canada’s archaic defamation law, bringing it in line with other jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom and Australia.  A broad coalition of organizations, including PEN Canada, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the CBC, the Globe and Mail newspaper and others supported the high court appeal by the Star and the Citizen.  “It’s probably the most important decision the Supreme Court’s ever decided on the law of libel. It modernizes our laws to better reflect freedom of speech and that’s in the public interest,” said Paul Schabas, the Star lawyer, who represented the newspaper in the defamation case brought by Ontario businessman Peter Grant.  “It means that the media and anybody else who’s acting responsibly can put something out for public debate and not be chilled because they can’t ultimately prove that it’s true in a court of law years later.”  “There’s now room been made under the Charter of Rights for freedom of expression, that if you don’t prove every fact true in a court of law there’s still room that your public interest story, done responsibly, is protected and you can’t get sued for libel,”  Dearden.

Merry Christmas, Happy New year

Wishing you peace on earth, good will towards all men, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all of your loves ones, friends, nieghbours too.

Meanwhile as of  December 15, 2009, there have been 1,477 coalition deaths in Afghanistan as part of ongoing coalition operations
Canadian  death toll in Afghanistan reaches   in  132  in total
UK death toll in Afghanistan reaches   240 in total
US death toll in Afghanistan reaches 935, etc,…
And no-one seems to know how many innocent civilians are being killed in this terrorism conflict by both sides too. A Number No One’s Counting?

There are clearly different ways at looking at the  world wide fight against terrorism, depending mostly it seems on your own nationality , personal and  religious beliefs. Is it as some do claim a money pit with no end objective in sight of being accomplished or is it a rightful, action, reaction to the world wide terrorists plots?  We all certainly   have  not “created” the past, present, future Muslim terrorist threats to our own security.

The  world wide fight against terrorism and not tourists  note,  is a real one for  there are still currently even  many, numerous Islamic extremists detained who have sought to  simultaneously detonate bombs on planes over the Atlantic, emulate 7/7 with further simultaneous attacks in London and blow up planes with explosives concealed in shoes.

Part of this war includes the reality that the US President Barack Obama has approved $2,775 billion in military aid to Israel, an overview of the US assistance to Israel shows that the US funding is a significant portion of Israel’s military budget, which amounted to $13.3 billion in 2008. The US used to provide both military and civilian aid, but it has since been merged entirely into military aid at Israel’s request. In addition to military aid, the US also provides $3.15 billion in loan guarantees to Israel.  Obama   continues the decades-old policy of extending unlimited support for Israel. Some say he should pursue a more even-handed approach to the Arab-Israeli conflict. And what does that mean now  men? Give the terrorists more money so they too now can buy more guns? There is a real need to subvert terrorism at every level, but is invading other countries the correct way to do this? or what is the valid alternative available? Some say by this approach we are in danger of becoming them, of being what they the terrorist  wish us to be, as bad as them?  Are we safer as a result of Afghanistan and Iraq ?

In reality  the US and UK were Islamic extremist targets before 9/11 so to that end so the rest of the world too  have not ‘created’ the Muslim terrorists threat we now face. For have many   established and have unfailingly supported Israel, regardless of the barbarity of its also unacceptable  behavior in pursuit of it’s own defense? And is our fighting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan is the main  thing that will prevent any more  terrorist attacks? it seems so?

For a start some of Islamic Terror attacks preceding 9/11:

26 February 1993 – World Trade Center bombing, New York City. 6 killed.

13 March 1993 – 1993 Bombay bombings. Mumbai, India. The single-day attacks resulted in over 250 civilian fatalities and 700 injuries.

28 July 1994 – Buenos Aires, Argentina. Vehicle suicide bombing attack against AMIA building, the local Jewish community representation, leaves 85 dead and more than 300 injured.

24 December 1994 – Air France Flight 8969 hijacking in Algiers by 3 members of Armed Islamic Group of Algeria and another terrorist. 7 killed including 4 hijackers.

25 June 1996 – Khobar Towers bombing, 20 killed, 372 wounded.

14 February 1998. The 1998 Coimbatore bombings occurred in the city of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. 46 people were killed and over 200 were injured in 13 bomb attacks within a 12 km radius.

7 August 1998 – 1998 United States embassy bombings in Tanzania and Kenya. 224 dead. 4000+ injured.

4 September 1999 – A series of bombing attacks in several cities of Russia, kills near 300 people.

12 October 2000 – Attack on the USS cole in the Yemeni port of Aden.

Furthermore is the armed  presence in Iraq and Afghanistan is it a serious a factor which contributed to the radicalization of young Muslims in this country and abroad as well? or where the young Muslims already headed that way even? The US was already  an Muslim Extremist target before 9/11 because of it’s Israel favored foreign policies in the middle east and its military and financial support of Israel, and support of  the political  regimes in Saudi and Iraq, Sadly Muslim religion seems to have a too natural hate off all Jewish people.

But anyway way does this present war, the ends justify all the means? Justify supporting a war lobby?

Anyone who has read my blogs I rightfully still do not give an unconditional support for Israel’s past, present, future actions or reactions and I am not an anti Semite..

Chrismas Wine list long, but beer offerings slim at Canadian Embassy in Washington – Yahoo! Canada News

The Canadian Press  WASHINGTON – Canada has a reputation for producing a wide variety of excellent beers, but tipplers visiting the Canadian Embassy had just three choices of brews recently – Molson Canadian, Alexander Keith’s Ale or Blue Light,   the gleaming embassy on iconic Pennsylvania Avenue offers up a long list of Canadian wines to visitors, among them pinot noirs, merlots, Gewurztraminers and rieslings from an array of vineyards across the country.  http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/091222/national/us_cda_embassy_beer

Kind of foolish encouraging people to become alcoholics at taxpayers expense, for while a few corporations will get richer in the process, the Canadian government will not, cause the costs due to job dismissals and related tax losses, Medicare cost increase, car accidents, policing, domestic violence, all associated with alcoholism is extremely costly.. No taxpayer’s money should ever  be used to buy alcohol  at any federal, provincial, municipal government functions nor enourage any alcoholism too. Really!

How does this all sit with Stephen Harpers’ professing hypocritical evangelical religion, beliefs still too?

All Cops need to go after real criminals still

Ontario stands firm on street racing law Toronto Star  A judge overturned the stunt-driving conviction of Jane Raham, 62, of Oakville who accelerated past a truck to get out of its blind spot. A second Ontario judge has ruled that the province’s stunt driving legislation is unconstitutional, but provincial police say they will continue to lay charges under the so-called street racing law.A street-racing charge automatically leads to a conviction, which can carry a minimum fine of $2,000, an immediate driver suspension and vehicle impoundment, as well as a maximum jail sentence of six months.Justice Peter West, a provincial court judge in Newmarket, found that an accused driver’s Charter rights are “clearly infringed” by the potential jail time because the law doesn’t permit the person to put forward a defence. More than 15,000 drivers have been charged under the stunt driving laws since they were introduced in 2007, Ont. street-racing law constitutional, says AG CTV.ca

Judge tosses stunt-driving charge as unconstitutional National Post

EVEN COPS DO NOT THINK SPEEDING IS A SERIOUS CRIME…

Feb. 10 2009 4:35:51 PM  The Canadian Press  TORONTO — It appears no one is exempt from Ontario’s street racing law — including the police. A provincial police officer in an unmarked vehicle was stopped on Highway 403 on Jan. 31 for driving 65 km/h over the limit. Det.-Const. Heidi Fischer was charged after an investigation determined she was “not within the lawful execution of her duties at the time.” Because she was charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h, her driver’s licence was suspended for seven days — and her police vehicle was also impounded for a week..

ALL THESE HARSHER POLICE DEMANDS ARE MAKING CANADA  A  POLICE STATE  Giving more money to the polcie does not increase justice rather it tends to make a police state instead..

It is billed by the London Police Department Chief as “the best (shooting) range in Ontario.” At $22 million, it is certainly modern but one of the features might sit poorly with judges and civil libertarians.  While police can shoot a fleeing suspect that presents an imminent threat to the public, it is relatively rare in most crimes and raises obvious questions under Tennessee v. Garner. The entire project will ultimately cost $32 million and the facility’s gun range is billed as training officers to do a range of shooting,
http://jonathanturley.org/2009/12/09/canadian-police-department-builds-new-firing-range-that-helps-train-officers-how-to-shoot-fleeing-suspects/

Meanwhile  a Toronto doctor is facing a disciplinary hearing over allegations he approved special meal allowances for people on welfare and disability programs according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  Dr. Roland Wong,  said he continues to approve applications for the special diet but only if he believes patients have an underlying medical condition that qualifies them for the financial supplement.  “Today, I signed maybe five, four,” he said. “Sometimes more, depends.”  He accused the auditor general of having a very “slanted view” of the program, and suggested he should be looking instead at the woefully inadequate support payments paid to people in need.  Wong said he wasn’t overly concerned about the disciplinary hearing because it was based on a complaint laid against him by a municipal councillor.  “This is a case of politicians against a physician, not the patient against the physician,” he said.  The Special Diet Allowance provides up to $250 per month to a person on social assistance who requires special foods for such conditions as diabetes.  Councillor Doug Holyday said  . “This can’t go on.”  http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/torsun/091209/canada/doc_faces_probe_over_dietary_payouts     Quebec and other provinces have no such adequate help program and why?

It is not the rapists, drunk drivers that mostly  fill the courts calendars, docks it is mostly the revenue generating traffic tickets.. if the government wants to get tough on crime, as it purports, it should go after the real criminals. Drunk, impaired drivers too.  After all speeding is not the major cause of vehicular accidents, what you did not know that yet? and the police Chief himself did not tell you? What is then the cause of major car accidents? Drunk driving, road rage, impaired driving, distracted while driving…. and what the revenue generating traffic division has not gone after all this mostly instead yet too? and why Not? The Cops becoming judge and jury, now taking the law into their own hands  even when they still say “ In most cases, our cops are the best to judge if stunt driving is really stunt driving. Or, is it simply speeding. If that is the case, they should charge accordingly or face more legal challenges.” And them the cops still being continually soft on drunk drivers is cause too many cops do  drink alcohol now too?  http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/speeding-is-not-the-major-cause-of-car-accidents-still/

Alcoholic Anonymous  helps  alcoholics  AND EVEN HOSPITALS ARE FOR ALL PERSONS. FURTHER MORE WHEN THE TAXPAYER’S MONEY IS ABUSED BY THIEVES, or bad civil and public servants, AND TOO MANY ALCOHOLICS, IT IS THE PROGRAMS, SERVICES TO THE POOR AND NEEDY PERSONS THAT ARE GENERALLY FIRST MADE TO PAY FOR IT. WE NEED BETTER BUDGET CONTROLS AND BETTER PUNISHMENT OF THE BAD GUYS TOO.IN ONE YEAR 60% of fatally injured drivers in Canada had a positive reading for blood alcohol and 160,000 people were convicted of impaired driving .

And   generally alcohol-related driving offences account for approximately 25% of all Criminal Code prosecutions.

If you drink and drive, it’s everybody’s business  still. http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2008/11/11/no-rcmp-alcoholics-it-seems/

UNPROPORTIONAL PRISON REPRESENTATION

7government_of_canada_logo

OTTAWA — Aboriginal inmates in Canada make up too high a percentage of Canada’s prison population and tend to get harsher sentences and less programming, a report from the country’s prison watchdog said Friday.

Prison watchdog sounds alarm over state of native prisoners OTTAWA – Canada’s prison watchdog is sounding the alarm over the plight of aboriginal prisoners, warning that without urgent action the situation will soon become a crisis. Howard Sapers, the correctional investigator of Canada, released a progress report Friday on aboriginals in the federal corrections system. It states bluntly that the federal government has failed to live up to many of its commitments on improving the system.  The report says in 2008, 19.6 per cent of federal inmates were aboriginal, although they make up just four per cent of the Canadian adult population. That number grew by nearly 20 per cent over the previous decade. The number of aboriginal women in jail soared an alarming 131 per cent in that decade, and one in three women now in federal prisons in Canada is aboriginal.

Sapers’ office only has jurisdiction for federal prisons. More than 70 per cent of inmates in Manitoba are in provincial facilities. Statistics Canada reports 66 per cent of Manitoba inmates on remand and 69 per cent in sentenced custody are aboriginal. The OCI report also notes aboriginal offenders are less likely than non-aboriginal offenders to be granted parole, more likely to be in segregation, more likely to have been in prison before, are classified as higher risk and are more likely to reoffend after they are released.

The statistics, says the report, are a sign of the corrections’ service failure to ensure aboriginal prisoners are getting the help they need.

“Today my message is clear – given the urgency of the situation, I call upon the service to do the right thing and immediately appoint a deputy commissioner for aboriginal corrections,” Sapers said in a statement

Aboriginals are severely overrepresented in federal jails: they account for 17.3 per cent of inmates but make up only four per cent of the Canadian adult population
Predictions are that the numbers will go on as they have over the past decade – 131 per cent in the case of aboriginal women.

“Previous attempts to reduce the gap in outcomes between aboriginal and non-aboriginal offenders have largely failed,” wrote Michelle Mann, the independent researcher who prepared the report.

Given the young and growing aboriginal population, a … failure to be forward thinking and expeditiously mobilize good intentions in aboriginal corrections will reverberate throughout the youth and criminal justice system, aboriginal communities and Canadian society for years to come.”

The report comes at a time when the Conservatives are tightening sentencing and parole laws, acknowledging that incarceration rates will rise.

NDP Public Safety critic Don Davies called the report an indictment of the Conservative approach.

“I’d rather that they get tough on results for a change, instead of bringing in bills that are all for show, when actual concrete measures that are needed to improve recidivism … are not taken,” she said.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) developed a five-year strategic plan for aboriginal corrections in 2006

Some of the reports findings on that and other plans include:

-The government has not provided adequate funding to roll out its various initiatives for aboriginals. Only two per cent of the annual budget goes to programming, although new measures continue to be created.
-Programs are not universally available to aboriginals. Prisoners who transfer from one institution to another are not guaranteed the ability to complete their programs, sometimes resulting in delayed parole. “These initiatives are often localized and not rolled out on a consistent national basis and therefore had limited impact on narrowing the gap in correctional outcomes between aboriginal and other offenders.”
-There is not enough accountability within the CSC to determine whether initiatives are working or being implemented properly.
-Aboriginals continue to be overclassified in jails, more often going to maximum security prisons than non-aboriginals.
-There is a shortage of aboriginal resources offered to people upon their release from prison.

Jeannette Corbiere Lavell, president of the Native Women’s Association of Canada, urged the government to act on the new report.
We, as a society, are responsible for the future of our children and we must give them opportunities to make good choices for positive life outcomes,” she said.
This starts at the beginning of life, not through punishment in the justice system.”

A GOOD START WOULD BE TO GIVE the POLICE MORE TRAINING IN HOW TO SPOT AND FIND WHITE CRIMINALS AS WELL. We all know that they all can start rightfully with their fellow RCMP officers who are already clearly guilty of perjury to the courts, drunk driving, etc.,

Too often racists, indian Haters   ”Conservative government’s tough-on-crime agenda with mandatory sentences will only mean even more aboriginals spend more time in jail. “When your only focus is on punishment, you deliberately ignore the social conditions of aboriginal people,”   ”More jail cells just means bigger con colleges

Pleasing  the crowd, thinking positive, spin doctoring,  political correctness is a common writer’s demon that tries the patience of the best of us and  the epitome of the writer’s dishonesty.

Like all the teachers now have to do it seems I continually do have to remind our politicians  and news media what is acceptable, and unacceptable still.. and even what the truth now  is too!

This isn’t News article, it’s a false brain washing press release, or a commercial propaganda, which seems to apply to too many of of the daily news stories I encounter.. and the governmental handouts too now.

The journalistic positive spins example..

BCE Inc., Bell Canada Enterprises Inc. on Thursday said lower restructuring costs pushed its main Bell unit to report a 26 per cent rise in operating income last quarter, but warned that a slowdown in the business market and a continued Canadian weak economy will keep revenues at the lower end of expectations into the fourth quarter of 2009.  The company was in the process of cutting jobs and streamlining its divisions. Canada’s largest phone company, reported third-quarter profit  as customers spent a third more to send e-mail messages and surf the Internet from their handsets.  Net income rose to C$558 million ($532 million), or 72 cents a share, from C$248 million, or 31 cents, a year earlier. All because the CRTC helps Bell to suppress competition, decent consumer pricing..  BCE began offering Apple Inc.’s iPhone in Canada last week through its Bell Mobility wireless unit, breaking the monopoly held by Rogers Communications Inc. Bell, which introduced Palm Inc.’s Pre phone nationwide in August, is now using both devices to force consumers to spend more on data after the economic slowdown forced cutbacks in long-distance calling. BCE rose 5 cents to C$27.14 at 4:10 p.m. in Toronto Stock Exchange trading.  Third-quarter revenue increased 0.5 percent to C$4.46 billion. The company said Bell’s revenues from operation increased 1.2% in the quarter to $3.79-billion, but the growth was largely fuelled by the acquisition of The Source stores and the remaining 50% of the equity of Virgin Mobile Canada. Bell said it added 135,000 wireless subscribers and that average monthly revenue per user was C$52.13 in the quarter. Bell TV revenues were also up 10.2 per cent, The company also reported growth in video revenues which offset the natural declines in local, long-distance and wireline data revenues. Bell can never make enough money nor adfully please all of the customers..

Chief Executive Officer George Cope is putting the savings from about 5,000 job cuts, or 11 percent of the company’s workforce, since June 2008 into marketing and subsidizing  new smart phones. The company also had eliminated 1,100 jobs in the third quarter.  BCE has thus cut about 6,200 people. Bell   recognizes that the slowdown in the business market and a weak Canadian economy will keep revenues at the lower end of expectations into Q4 2009. Average monthly revenue per customer decreased to about $64, down $3.98, as subscribers switched to lower monthly rate plans, used their phones less and lower roaming revenues, customers on average were spending less than a year ago due to the weaker economy, negative price gougings, also there was no intent  of Bell eliminating 911 or service activation fees,

THE REAL UNDENIABLE FACT THAT BELL HAD TOO MANY INCOMPETENT, NO GOOD, USELESS, IMMORAL EMPLOYEES AS I FOUND OUT OFTEN WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS BELL  WAS NOW SO COSTLY TO OPERATE TOO. THE CANADIAN CITIZEN’S TELECOMMUNICATIONS COSTS ARE AMONGST THE HIGHEST IN THE WHOLE EARTH. PASSING ON THE PRICE TO ANY CUSTOMERS BY UNREALISTICALLY  EXPECTING THEM TO PAY HIGHER COSTS IS A POOR, VERY  UNREALISTIC  MANAGEMENT ON BELL’S PART STILL.

Telus Communications Inc. (T-T33.500.200.60%) launches legal action against Rogers Communications Inc. (RCI.B-T33.00-0.14-0.42%) for allegedly misleading ads claiming Rogers provides “Canada’s fastest network.”  In documents filed in B.C. supreme court, Telus says that since a Nov. 5 upgrade, a network run by Bell (BCE-T27.640.431.58%) and Telus offers faster and more reliable service than the Rogers network.  Telus says Rogers advertisements introduced in 2007 and continuing after Nov. 5 that claim Rogers provides “Canada’s fastest network: two times faster than any other,” are now false and misleading.  Telus also claims similar advertisements that Rogers provides “Canada’s most reliable network,” have also been false since Telus’ upgrade.  Telus is seeking a declaration from Rogers that its advertisements breached Canada’s Competition Act, in addition to injunction from distributing the ads, damages and compensation. Canada’s wireless telecommunications industry, in which Telus, Bell and Rogers control about 90 per cent of the market, is set to become more competitive as Telus and Bell introduce Apple’s coveted iPhone, which Rogers has offered for more than a year.  http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/telus-sues-rogers-over-ad-claims/article1368486/

False misleading advertising has long time been made by Telus, Rogers, Bell and others in Canada whole the Ostrich federal consumer dperantmt, government did nothing.. I even wrote to you about THIS ISSUE  too and what it takes the courts to deal with everything now, AND so why do we need the  government ?

I remember too recently the spin doctors telling you that in spite of the recession now was a good time to buy a home and for you suckers who next  did get into big debts,  here  is what they say to you now..

Real estate recovery will be weak in Canada due to limp demand, report shows   Canada’s real estate market didn’t fall as hard or fast as in the U.S., but some spots did suffer steep losses and a recovery will be slow as buyers worry about another potential economic dip, a new report suggests.

Stimulus funds forget high jobless areas   OTTAWA – Canada’s high jobless regions are losing out as billions in federal stimulus money flows into areas that have been spared the worst of the recession, an analysis by The Canadian Press suggests.

That is what Harper and his gang are realy like too..they are like still.. By their own fruits you tell what they realy are..

Meanwhile   Sarnia, Ont., police officer arrested and charged with sexual assault  SARNIA, Ont. – A member of the Sarnia, Ont., police force faces sexual assault charges. In a brief news release, Chief Phil Nelson says an officer, currently before the court on other criminal matters, has been arrested and charged following an investigation by Chatham-Kent police. The officer, whose name is not being released to protect the identities of the alleged victims, is charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.  The officer has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing Thursday in Chatham.

BC home inspector ruled ‘negligent,’ must pay nearly $200,000 to buyers  VANCOUVER, B.C. – A home inspector has been ordered to pay nearly $200,000 to a North Vancouver couple who were told the house they wanted to buy only needed basic repairs. A   B.C. Supreme Court judge ruled Imre Toth was “negligent” and provided “woefully inadequate” estimates after his inspection of the house in September 2006. Toth’s report estimated house repairs would only cost about $20,000, when in fact they totalled more than 10 times the amount at $200,000.  The judge found the buyers wouldn’t have purchased the $1 million home had they been made aware of the extensive rotting beams and other structural problems.

QUEBEC – The outgoing leader of the Action democratique du Quebec blames the federal Tories for helping to destroy his party. In a scathing open letter, Gilles Taillon says his decision to sever ties with the federal Conservatives prompted a harsh response. Taillon says he met with Conservative Sen. Leo Housakos, a key player in both federal and provincial politics, and that he told him the tiny ADQ would be cutting ties with the Tories. Taillon suggests that meeting prompted a putsch, in which the Tories and former ADQ leader Mario Dumont orchestrated his ouster. Members of Taillon’s caucus began abandoning the party until, just 23 days into his leadership, he agreed to quit. The embattled ADQ leader writes that his leadership was undermined when he tried to end that “untouchable alliance” with the Tories. He also says he’s found troubling financial irregularities in the party’s books that he plans to report to police.

PS Someone should  do us all a favour and shoot the National Post, for it is a very sick horse, whose Conservative party  biased  lies and spins are visibly disgusting… Maybe the CBC now as well..

For all kind of detail examples, reasons, explanations Canadian Senator Mike Duffy is a TREMENDOUS example, illustration  of the wrong type of managerial DECISIONS Stephen Harper OFTEN MAKES:

Duffy P.E.I.’s most expensive senator. during his first three months in the red chamber, Conservative Senator Mike Duffy racked up more than $100,848 in travel and office expenses, more than double the average of what the other three Island senators spend in a typical quarter. Duffy’s rate of spending puts him in the top rank of senatorial expenses. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/prince-edward-island/story/2009/11/11/pei-senator-duffy-expenses-584.html
OTTAWA GANSTERS

I REALLY LOVE THE READERS COMMENTS AT THE SAME SITE NOW TOO.. COMMENTS LIKE..

Mike Duffy is a mercenary hack.
His sheer audacity in comparing himself to an elected MP is breathtaking.
Two days ago Mr. Duffy loudly told us that Mr. Stoffer’s criticisms were the ramblings of a “faker”.
But yesterday he wasn’t returning calls…..
It doesn’t matter, of course.
Mr. Duffy is there representing ‘us’ until he is 75.
Whether we like it or not.
A thousand thank-you’s, Mr. Harper.
How can we possibly repay your kindness……..?

I expected better of Mike Duffy, but I guess winning the lottery, I mean being appointed to senate, changes you.

Mike Duffy is a total embarrassment. His earlier crude comments on the fitness of P.E.I.’s premier revealed the attack dog he is. It is totally in character for him to smear Peter Stoffer, one of the most respected M.P. s, a man of obvious integrity. Read Don Martin’s recent column on Mr Duffy in the National Post (also carried in the Guardian). Maybe Duffy has a mission from our P.M., but whatever his reasons, he is a partisan political hack, and I resent his role of representing P.E.I. Harper should remove him for his own protection.

Duffy thank you for opening my eyes to Harpers wish to abolish the senate. Your such a fake and a sad sad senator.

As far as I am concerned the Senate is not the problem because one way or another we need an Upper Chamber to balance the Commons. The problem is its structure and how it is politically manipulated by Prime Ministers without the consent of the Canadian electorate.   Mr Duffy’s nomination is crass for two reasons:  first this Prime Minister made all kinds of promises and flip flopped on all of them and second as a journalist Mr Duffy was supposed to be non partisan so all those years he was pretending to analyze the political scene with an open mind it turns out this was a fake – including his opinion of the Senate before being named a Senator.

Duffy thinks he is entitled to whatever he can get, believes he is smarter, better educated, more important and of higher class then the rest of us.  By calling Stoffer a faker and saying he doesn’t care about the military, Duffy proved he will say anything at all, lies, fabrications etc, as long as it is in an attempt to help his good buddy Harper. How can anyone who has spent more then 10 minutes covering Stoffer question his loyalty to Military families.   Duffy is taking taxpayer money, using it to insult ALL NON Con/reformers, and spending big money on food and travel   what a joke, be a man Duffy and resign…mind you a MAN isn’t something you will ever be accused of being, because you aren’t  kids starve, doughty spends hundreds of thousands on foods and flights

Whether one believes the Senate should be abolished, reformed or maintained as is, it is incumbent upon those who are appointed to conduct themselves with dignity, professionalism and honour. Mr. Duffy has been, since day one of his appointment, an embarrassment and has no place in this Senate or any other version which may replace it some day.   Not a good choice Mr. Harper

Alleged CONSERVATIVE mis-spending and influence-peddling

  Conservative CANADIAN GOVERNMENT

NDP MP Olivia Chow and lawyer Brian Iled ARE  seeking federal investigations into alleged mis-spending and influence-peddling by its Conservative Party loyalists.  If true, recent published allegations reveal “a shocking disregard for the public interest and normal rules of governance on the part of Stephen Harper’s appointees to the TPA board,” Iled told reporters in his law office.  Instead of rousting members who were accused by former colleagues of undefendable expenses and accomodating unacceptable party lobbying, he said the PM’s people “shot the messengers, replaced them with more loyal Conservatives and ignored the whistleblowers.”  Iled, head of Community Air, a group devoted to grounding the TPA-run Toronto City Centre Airport, said the Authority “has become a playpen for Stephen Harper’s political appointees with their own agenda and no accountability for their actions.”  He and Chow called for a return to mainly city appointees — similar to those who ran the old Toronto Harbour Commission — until the government restructured ports in 1999.  NO ‘SIGNIFICANCE’  Costing taxpayers $10 million a year, they said Toronto’s port authority status can’t be justified as having “strategic significance to Canada’s trade.”  Chow said she was mostly stonewalled after earlier seeking disclosure of expenses, including “outrageous entertainment and travel,” such as steak dinners at a leased restaurant in its Harbour and Bay Sts. headquarters and “lavish lunches” by ex-president and CEO Lisa Raitt, now minister of natural resources.  Chow and Iled have targeted such spending at previous press conferences.

‘BLATANT’ INTERFERENCE  In September, she blasted John Baird for “blatant” political interference after the transport minister appointed two new TPA members to replace two who criticized board practices.  Chow yesterday called one new member “another Conservative fundraiser,” with no experience in Toronto waterfront issues.  After a newspaper published leaked documents and last week reported altered versions of TPA board minutes, the Authority issued a statement saying the articles contained “many inaccuracies and falsehoods.”

OTTAWA-Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his government have been using taxpayer-funding announcements to boost the fortunes of unelected Conservative candidates, critics charge.  While Conservative allies and would-be MPs are welcome at public announcements to splash taxpayers’ money around Canada, opposition MPs say they’ve been pushed to the sidelines and even left in the dark about funding announcements taking place in their ridings.  Some New Democrat and Liberal MPs say they have only learned about funds going to their ridings when they looked in the local paper after the fact and saw unelected Conservative candidates prominently featured at government-financed events.  Liberals believe that if Elections Canada looks into the practice, Conservatives could be held in violation of strict laws intended to keep partisan and government spending separate.  “This is one more example of abusing government resources to benefit the Conservative party,” says Liberal MP Martha Hall Findlay (Willowdale), who is in the midst of filing multiple official complaints to the Treasury Board and Elections Canada over the government’s advertising and promotional practices. “This is another attempt to buy Canadians with their own, taxpayer money,” she said.  This fall, Moncton Liberal MP Brian Murphy was barred from entry to an announcement by the Prime Minister at the Irving shipyards in New Brunswick.  Hall Findlay says of the Conservatives: “These guys just don’t seem to get it. It’s not their money.”  Andrew MacDougall, a spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, said the government “makes Economic Action Plan announcements with our provincial and municipal partners.” In Edmonton-Strathcona, the only Alberta riding the Conservatives do not hold, local Tory candidate Ryan Hastman has participated in at least five government announcements over the past few months, while the local NDP MP, Linda Duncan, says she has been excluded from all of them. Hastman boasts of his participation in pictures on his Facebook page.  Duncan, who calls the “whole process offensive,” says it becomes doubly irritating when a Conservative candidate claims credit for funds she helped to get for the community, as the duly elected MP.  “What I find reprehensible about all this is that they just can’t seem to accept the fact that Edmonton-Strathcona voters elected me, not a Conservative,” Duncan said.  Hastman was on hand, posing for pictures with Labour Minister Rona Ambrose, when the Conservatives gave a $14.8 million cheque to the GO community sports centre in Edmonton in September, for example.  Duncan had worked with the centre to get the application into the government before the deadline elapsed earlier in the year – and says she only found out about that deadline because someone accidentally sent her an email directed to the Alberta Conservative caucus.  The same thing happened recently in the riding of Welland, Ont., held by New Democrat MP Malcolm Allen. When the Prime Minister stopped in to announce federal stimulus money going to Niagara College last month – which came with a provincial contribution as well – there was pointedly no mention of either Allen or the provincial MPP, Peter Kormos, who is also a New Democrat.  “It’s kind of disappointing,” said Allen. “It’s the taxpayers’ money.”  The local Conservative candidate, Leanna Villella, was apparently involved in the event and the organization of it, as she explained in a blog entry.  “After the press conference, we headed over to the local restaurant M.T. Bellies where I got the chance to sit and talk with the Prime Minister, Minister of Justice Rob Nicholson, and (St. Catharines) Member of Parliament Rick Dykstra. Together we discussed the challenges facing our riding, and also got the chance to outline the possible solutions,” she wrote.  “I would like to thank the members of my campaign team who worked so hard all week to make sure that this event ran smoothly.” It is not clear from Villella’s blog entry whether this visit to the riding was financed by the federal government or the Conservative party, since the event appeared to be part official, part political business for the Prime Minister.  But MacDougall, the PMO spokesman, said that at the Niagara event, “the mayor of Welland, Damian Goulbourne, regional chair Peter Partington, Liberal provincial cabinet Minister Jim Bradley, and the president of Niagara College all participated in the announcement in question.  “The local New Democrat MP, Mr. Allen, voted against the EAP and its investment in Niagara College,” MacDougall added. “However, just like other community leaders, he could have attended the event.”  http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2009/11/09/11680766-sun.html

Critics cry foul at Tory photo ops. Conservatives use announcements to boost profile of candidates, opposition says  Conservative candidate Ryan Hastman, shown with Labour Minister Rona Ambrose in September, has participated in at least five government announcements over the past few months in the riding of Edmonton-Strathcona. LEFT OUT: Riding’s NDP MP Linda Duncan.

Chris Alexander, future Tory candidate in Ajax-Pickering, was on hand when Harper announced a funding boost for the Toronto Reference Library in October. LEFT OUT: Riding’s Liberal MP Mark Holland
Denise Ghanam, Conservative candidate in Windsor-Tecumseh, participated in a $1.3 million funding announcement for Essex County in September.
LEFT OUT: Riding’s NDP MP Joe Comartin
Troy Desouza, Tory candidate in Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca, B.C., was on hand in August when Harper rolled out a funding plan for community colleges in B.C.
LEFT OUT: Riding’s Liberal MP Keith Martin
Bernard Trottier, who will run for the Tories in Etobicoke-Lakeshore, joined Harper at a Tim Hortons in September to welcome the firm back to Canada.
LEFT OUT: Riding’s Liberal MP Michael Ignatieff
Rudy Husny, Conservative candidate in Outremont, Que., participated in the announcement of $1.7 million in funds for Montreal’s World Trade Centre.
LEFT OUT: Riding’s Liberal MP Thomas Mulcair

Exemplary, rather you mostly still do mean the wrong type of example.. All of our leaders were to set examples not merely to farcically, hypocritically prosecute  all the other wrong doers.. It seems we are too often still hearing that too many our civil and public servants are abusing others, only pretending to be doing their work, stealing, cheating, lying, even guilty of drunk driving and none of that is acceptable.. and we just see the tip of the iceberg

And everybody else does it is also still never a justifiable excuse..

everybody

Because the guilty persons are wrongfully not being punished, terminated, fired, they continue to do their wrongs too..

Mountie faces second impaired driving charge

but the RCMP had said there are no RCMP alcholics, or less than a handful?

He has been a constable in the RCMP for about 16 years, according to RCMP, and has been on medical leave since the first incident. and has been an Alcoholic now for how many years as well? and his supervisors now as well?

RCMP officer charged with impaired driving Vancouver Sun
CTV British Columbia - The Province - News1130

When the too often immoral, lying RCMP Public relationship department tells the public that there are on the average only 3 alcoholic RCMP offices in Canada per year and we have had more than that Number RCMP officers caught drunk driving this year.. We have had news media report of some Police officers in BC now getting drunk often after work even in the Police stations and likely driving home as well. It is an undeniable fact that Police taverns are often filled with police officer after the shift has ended, and likely many of them drive home drunk.. but it is the citizens that seem to mostly end up on drunk charges in the court and mostly natives now as well..

Certainly do not believe that all justice  is even best carried out, being done in the Queen’s courts, or by the too often  rigged Commissions, masturbating self regulating societies? How often do you even see bad lawyers, bad cops, bad RCMP, bad professionals, bad Politicians, bad alcoholics IN CANADA get their rightful dues now? Very rarely!!

Vancouver Mountie faces second impaired driving charge in two months The Canadian Press  VANCOUVER, BC – A Mountie in Vancouver is facing his second impaired driving charge in two months. Vancouver police say they pulled the off-duty officer over Saturday morning and breath samples showed he was over the legal limit for blood alcohol. The 55-year-old officer, whose name has not been released, (But yours likely would be posted) already had a court date from a previous impaired driving charge and was prohibited from driving for 90 days. He’s now been charged with driving while prohibited, impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. ( He likely also is still getting paid as a Mounties too) He is the latest in a number of Metro Vancouver police officers who have faced impaired driving charges in the last two years, including a Mountie charged in a Delta, B.C., crash that killed a 21-year-old motorcyclist in October 2008. The officer in that case, Cpl. Benjamin Monty Robertson, was the one who gave the order to use a Taser on Robert Dziekanski before the Polish man died at Vancouver airport in October 2007.

RCMP officer arrested 2nd time for drunk driving in Vancouver CBC.ca  The off-duty Mountie was arrested Saturday morning after a Vancouver police officer watched a man urinate in the Spanish Banks parking lot on N.W. Marine Drive and then get into a vehicle and attempt to drive away. After the Vancouver officer stopped the vehicle and identified the man as an RCMP officer, the man failed to pass a breathalyzer test, said police. Vancouver police are recommending he face charges of driving while prohibited, impaired driving and driving with blood-alcohol exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8. The 55-year-old officer, assigned to RCMP’s E Division headquarters, was previously arrested Oct. 3 after an accident on the Second Narrows Bridge, said police. In that incident, police suspended his licence and recommended charges of impaired driving. He was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 20 in that case. The officer’s name has not yet been released because the Crown counsel has not yet approved a criminal charge from either of the two incidents, ( because Crown counsel is also an acoholic?)  but police did say the man has been a member of RCMP for 16 years and has been on medical leave since the October incident. Impaired driving is the No.1 criminal cause of death in Canada ( note not speeding) . “As police officers, we have seen first-hand the carnage and death caused by this irresponsible behaviour. This makes it all the more difficult when an incident involves one of our own.” ( and it occurs too often now too) -Go to jail. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Pull his Licence. Take his badge end of story.   These types of police officers bring a bad image to the rest of the force, which as a whole, does a very good job. So this suspended officer, has been caught again, and then he is released, and after having an accident in the first incidence. This person should be held in custody, he is obviously a danger to the public and to himself. Are there two sets of laws? What a shame, however, he MUST be held to the same standard as any other person in Canada. Peace Officers need to be beyond reproach, and in the case of the RCMP as of late, even more so.  I also would like to know why no charges have been filed from the first incident??? Seems odd to me. Twice eh? Wonder if the Crown will approve the charges? If it was me, Im sure charges will already be laid and my name all over the local papers. Medical leave my arse,…. what his medical condition….hungover?

Hey, RCMP officers, when will you wake up from drunkenness? The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), colloquially known as Mounties, is the national police force of Canada. RCMP officers should be the representatives of responsibility, dignity, honesty, and honour. Some BC Lower Mainland’s police officers really smeared the image of RCMP in people’s minds. In two years, five Lower Mainland RCMP officers faced charges of drunk driving. On Oct. 4, 2009, Sunday, around 4:20 a.m., the fifth officer, who works at the RCMP’s Vancouver headquarters, was arrested for impaired driving after his car hit a cement barrier near the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge. Two passengers on his car were sent to hospital and the driver failed the alcohol test on the scene. He was off-duty that time. The other four drunk driving cases the Lower Mainland RCMP officers involved in were: On Sept. 25, an officer from Coquitlam of BC was charged with impaired driving after being stopped by policemen of his own police bureau. Last November, one of the four officers involved in Robert Dziekanski’s stun-gun case was arrested for drunk driving after he hit and killed a young motorcyclist in Delta of BC. Near the end of 2007, Cpl. Darren Baker and Const. Kulwant Singh Malhi were charged with impaired driving in West Vancouver and Richmond of BC respectively. What’s wrong with the RCMP officers of BC Lower Mainland? Come on. Please don’t ruin people’s trust anymore.

B.C. solicitor general named in lawsuit

  01 BC
  http://picasaweb.google.com/anonconformer/
Cloud over Kash Heed embarrassing for Liberals Top cop withdraws from debate over complaints bill  Kash Heed doing things specifically to promote his political desires at the expense of others? No. Say it ain’t so The police profession is like a soap opera: sleaze, boozing, internal bickering, shameful misconduct, greed, corruption, sexism, racism and criminal activity. Shows like ” To Serve & Protect” only glamourize the industry and does little to shed light on their cohesive membership and inability to extricate too many undesirables and often, unsavory members miraculously get ahead in life or are promoted and West Van PD, like so many others, is a joke…….   Let me see if I have this right. Bruce investigated a drunk officer who had been drinking at a detachment with Bruce’s son. A few months later he went on “stress leave” hmmmm. Then, 18 months later, not ever coming off “stress” leave, Bruce retires and the investigation around him is dropped. Now Bruce is suing someone claiming HE was hard done by. And who pays for all of this? None of the people in the story. Isn’t this the same guy that couldn’t come to court to testify b/c of his so called post-traumatic stress disorder? Held up the proceedings for over a year wasn’t it? Getting paid full salary the whole time. Was finally ordered to court and so quit his job rather then testify! Isn’t this the guy? He should be paying the city for court costs etc! He’s a disgraced cop looking to cash in. a bunch of rich people fighting for more money from the tax payers…no better than the gangsters..

The whole Police system is unacceptable, farcical, corrupt from top to bottom..

” I find it laughable but not unexpected that Sgt. Bruce would pursue economic redress from his employers. His actions in my opinion are a sad reflection on this public service, and should be the poster child for Complete Civilian Oversight of internal police investigation given this situation. However to be fair  let us look at the facts that I have been able to find. In 2005 Const. Lisa Alford after spending the afternoon drinking with her West Vancouver Police Buddies including Staff Sgt Bruce’s son Constable Mike Bruce attempted to drive home while drunk and smashed into another vehicle. Alford, 30, blew readings of .21 and .22 — the legal limit is .08 — and pleaded guilty to drunk driving on Jan. 25. 2007; She lost her licence for 14 months and was fined $600. Despite these facts she was placed forward for promotion, an action later reversed when all the facts of this case were made evident. Const. Lisa Alford was drinking with fellow officers” In the West Vancouver Police Station” before she rear-ended a car and blew nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol. Then West Vancouver Police Department Chief Scott Armstrong said that such get-togethers involving drinking at the station were regular occurrences; In fact, he attended a few himself before banning the practice after Alford’s accident and drunk-driving charge. In 2006, Scott Armstrong was fired as chief for that admission.  In a ridiculous case of poor optics, worse judgment and a fundamental reason why greater oversight into police investigating police must be initiated; Sgt. Doug Bruce (Mike Bruce’s father) and Insp. Bob Fontaine were appointed to head up the complaint investigation into the incident. The final report to the B.C. Police Complaints Commissioner however failed to mention that Alford was drinking at the West Vancouver Police Dept. prior to the accident and she was partying with other police officers, including Staff Sgt Bruce’s son Constable Mike Bruce. B.C.’s police complaint commissioner was already investigating Const. Mike Bruce. He was accused of forging a signature on a photo line-up during a robbery investigation. He was also suspended for three days after he failed to attend a noise complaint at a Future Shop and then wrote a false report. The officer then lied when confronted about it. He later confessed when his police cruiser’s Global Positioning System was analyzed The Police Complaints Commissioner asked the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) to investigate Bruce and Fontaine. The VPD found the officers allegedly breached the code of conduct. A disciplinary proceeding was ordered in February 2007 and there had been a couple of attempts to have a disciplinary proceeding occur,” said Bruce Brown, Deputy Police Complaints Commissioner. Disciplinary hearings were scheduled, however the officers simply refused to attend the three scheduled hearings, exposing a profound weakness in the police act; saving themselves the need to either; reveal the truth of the investigation or perjure themselves further. The two suddenly retired in late 2008. A public hearing regarding the allegations was called off in February when the police complaint commissioner, Dirk Ryneveld, decided his office’s jurisdiction likely would not extend to retired police officers. Their disciplinary hearings were cancelled after they retired in 2008.  Doug Bruce says he took sick leave due to stress. I guess he was under stress, dodging the truth and remembering that many lies is a tiring business, but I thank him for the mockery he is making of the police and the people of British Columbia. He will now hide in Penticton send his lawyer to negotiate a settlement while the public costs mount, collect his pension and leave the bad taste and public scorn of this incident for other members to live with and deal with every day.  The two members in question not only broke the law, they continued to collect over $150,000.00 each in salary, continued to have access to all police benefits and then then waltzed off into the night, thumbing their noses at the Law, its principles, the People of West Vancouver, and their own sworn oathes; saving their pensions, thank you very much. People may say that police are shown no favouritism but that can not be stated here, with out opening ones self up to ridicule, these facts speak for themselves. Bruce now in his hypocrisy, claims the former Mayor and the former Police Chief made false statements about him,  and requires redress; that the two defendants “recklessly and deliberately” breached “their” duty. The statement is outrageous. Be assure Sir, I have every sympathy for you and hope you get just what you deserve.”

“Why is it that Canadian police forces have so much difficulty dealing with wayward officers? Is it that they are afraid of the backlash from special interest groups … with their adherent politicians … or just afraid to admit to the public that “one of our police persons screwed up royally”? … and resort to ‘Nixonian stonewalling’ until the public forgets about the matter? Or is it that too many police forces have very poor management in place due a politically dominated selection system and an old boys promotion system? I once asked a former Commissioner of the RCMP if the RCMP intended to continue to promote those REPORTED as promotable rather than QUALIFIED to be promoted to a given position. His answer was “yes” … even though the example suggested was someone reported as being good in an administrative position being promoted to a serious investigation (supervisory) position. That, plus numerous other instances have convinced me that when it comes to promotions MANY police forces do not differentiate between choosing supervisors for OPERATIONAL investigative positions and supervisory ADMINISTRATIVE positions. I personally know of a group of RCMP persons who sent a request through channels imploring RCMP management at the higher levels to do something about carrying through with disciplining a number of police persons in the area who were known to have been complained about by the public OR OTHER POLICE PERSONS. The only other significant factor I can think of that could be associated with bad management and political affiliation is that there are simply no enforceable regulations or laws that can  be used to make errant police persons accountable … but after 150 years of having Canadian police I have to think that it is more a matter of interpreting the laws as being ineffective rather than actually having ineffective laws. Can the words “you are fired” not be used in police hearings … or the words “your paycheck has been stopped  until you and your counsel choose to deal with the situation” … or has our present judicial interpretation of the charter nullified police accountability as well as criminal accountability? “

” B.C. Solicitor General Kash Heed is being sued for defamation by a former West Vancouver police officer who says Heed tried to further his political career at the man’s expense.”No comment, its before the courts”……… sounds like wally opal eh?  Somehow this does not surprise me……if you lie down with dogs…you’ll get fleas..(or however that saying goes) and Kash Heed has certainly chosen some curs to lie down with. It never ends with this corrupt government,  If the Police force is corrupt? Then why would you think promoting one of them to Top Cop Help I always thought this guy was a bit too ambitious. We’ve been calling him ‘Hash Weed’ for years.  “http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2009/10/27/bc-heed-goldsmith-jones-lawsuit.html

“B.C. premier names new 24-member cabinet. There are nine new faces among the 24 members of the B.C. cabinet named Wednesday afternoon by Premier Gordon Campbell, after his Liberal Party won a third majority in May. Mike de Jong is the new attorney general, as well as government house leader, filling the position vacated by Wally Oppal, who lost to Independent candidate Vicki Huntington in the Delta-South riding after two recounts.  Former West Vancouver police chief Kash Heed a Newcomer takes on the role of solicitor general and public safety minister. .John van Dongen resigned from the position in April following revelations that his driver’s licence had been suspended for speeding. Van Dongen was re-relected on election night. Colin Hansen remains as finance minister but adds deputy premier to his titles.  http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2009/06/10/bc-campbell-cabinet-2009.html

and will Former West Vancouver police chief Kash Heed the new BC solicitor general and public safety minister cover up for his bad Police buddies too? And there are still concerns about Liberal candidate Kash Heed and his former role as West Vancouver police chief and his unexpected retirement from the force less than two years into his contract, “There’s still a lot of anger about a $40,000 severance payout even though he voluntarily quit in February, leaving many unanswered questions about his status on the force,”  to supposedly avoid legal prosecution too. “The cops have a responsibility to follow moral leadership and let me tell you, the cops do not have that here [in Abbotsford] “NDP candidate for Abbotsford South, Bonnie Rai. These are all valid issues, concerns too. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/bcvotes2009/story/2009/05/05/bc-political-candidates-police-surrey-vancouver.html

At the risk being blacklisted or visited by the police, I would like to voice my grave concern over RCMP investigations of friends and acquaintances of peaceful opponents to the Vancouver Olympics.  I am particular disturbed by B.C. Attorney General Kash Heed saying the RCMP has a duty to “check out” the information they get. Since when do people who disagree with a government policy automatically need to be investigated?  I fail to see the line of reasoning that starts from dissent and leads through to security threat. And more importantly, should the country’s police forces have the arbitrary right to make that equation?  Will authorities one day place under surveillance anyone opposed to the federal budget or the war in Afghanistan, or the RCMP’s handling of the Dziekanski affair? This already happened in the U.S. when J. Edgar Hoover was FBI chief. Canada is on a very slippery slope here and the public needs to be vigilant. Fred Sengmueller, Toronto  http://www.thestar.com/comment/article/708813

Me too I am striaghforward and say what I believe , If you read my blogs you already know that I do often say and do think the police are generally part of the scum left over in the bottom of the barrel too. I have openly said it before I have not encountered a decent federal or provincial justice ministers generally the last  decades in Canada.. likely cause they generally were lawyers to start of with.. and I also have not encountered decent cops or police chiefs now as well.. Fix it …and rightfully install fair, honest, decent police commissions to protect the citizens and then not so many people will want to assault the police too.. we already know how abusive and crooked the too often lying cops, their sergeants, superiors  and their commissions tend to be.. what real practical good besides mere cheap words, unfulfilled promises are you all going to do about it as well?  Once again the Conservatives easily show to all what big liars they are when it comes to holding to accountability the bad guys in the civil and public servcies now too or one of their own..

THERE APPEAR TO BE THREE MAIN REASONS any so called professionals, the RCMP now too,  have  DEGENERATED IN EFFECTIVENESS  SO VISIBLY. THE SAME REASONS THAT WOULD BE APPLICABLE TO MOST PROFESSIONAL BODIES NOW AS WELL:
-The first is the  initial employee, managements hiring,  selection process. Police forces tend to have common criteria of personnel selections.
- The second clearly is  promotional mechanisms within  the force.. which seems too often to reward AND promote incompetency.. TO ME THIS EXPLAINS WHY POLICE CHIEFS, MANGERS TEND OFTEN NOW  TO LACK MORALITY, CREDIBILITY, ETHICS TOO.
- The third is the internal self regulating aspects

Now   as if you all did not know that already that the Local and the national police cannot be respected to do a decent inquiry into the alleged wrong doings of any police officers, cause we can seem all to know that the accused police do not hesitate to lie, to cover-up the reality… now self regulation  of the police force, is just useless self masturbation always it seems, thus we need independent  reviews of all police complaints for all of the police forces too in Canada, with real negative consequences on the guilty persons now too and it is  as simple as that   The truth, real acts, real facts speak louder than the too often, false, cheap words now too still. Police unions, Police Public relationships departments now too  would have us all believe that the police is supposedly now aggressively tackling crime, criminals, injustice in Canada. Even a according to the RCMP Public relationship propaganda department too,  because if they the RCMP now did not write a report about it,  it all now still would not be obvious to most people who wonder what the cops are even doing now most of the time, besides giving out money generating traffic traffic tickets,  the report does not  indicate the number of  bad people actually successfully prosecuted each year for the millions of dollars already spend on the related police man-hours now too? nor  does the same RCMP report indicate the cost of the useless police enforcement per year in comparison now to the actual successful prosecutions?

It is undeniable that self regulation tends to be merely masturbation and not the real thing.. As far as as the Public Interest being served even when the  Police are investigating themselves, RCMP, Mounties included, especially  when those cases involved serious injury or death there tends to be always a conflict of interest when the Police investigated fellow Police and so the  decent, honest investigations included independent external investigators  such as lawyers not rather fellow police officers. There have been even one too many  recent clearly and UNACCEPTABLE NEGATIVE incidents have highlighted the unacceptable  issue of police investigating police, including the case of Robert Dziekanski, who died at the Vancouver Airport after being hit with an RCMP Taser.

I have rightfully no respect for the RCMP commercial crime Division from my own real personal experiences.   Hey we have loads of example of how ruthless, crooked the cops are now in Canada.. their self regulation does not work, and Canada wide now  too. None of this is acceptable. and the overall justice system, Justice Ministers are already known world wide to be really bad too.  http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2008/08/23/mickey-mouse-rcmp-police-canada/

Now all of Canada’s police forces that are mostly mismanaged generally, they today mostly have bad police chiefs, bad police sergeants and too many rotten, bad subordinates too. All because we have mostly bad, pretentious  justice ministers  as bad and not rather good managers.  Do see all the many other posts about the bad cops, RCMP, OPP here as well. Now there is a really great gap between how the cops see themselves and how the citizens DO see them.

In most of Canada too the Police Department’s disciplinary system remains “fundamentally ineffective” and should be taken over by an outside agency.  Also   now   as if you all did not know that already   the local and the national police cannot be respected to do a decent inquiry into the alleged wrong doings of most  police officers, cause we can seem all to know that the accused police and their supervisors, examining boards, really  do not hesitate to lie, to cover-up the reality… now self regulation  of the police force, is just useless self masturbation always it seems, thus we need independent  reviews of all police complaints for all of the police forces too in Canada, with real negative consequences on the guilty persons now too and it is  as simple as that.

Now it is undeniable that Canada’s supposed law and order party that has been in power for a few years, has had time to find money and jobs for thousands of their friends., that has been electing judges to suit their own tastes as well, has been falsely spending taxpayer’s money, using governmental resources to promote their own reelection and also to promote the the new Conservative party, this same party and it’s leader Prime Mister Stephen Harper, it’s justice ministers have absolutely failed to deal adequately with the much too many bad, abusive cops, RCMP we still do now have in Canada and why was that now? Application of governmental Accountability is only an election gimmick?

Why the Conservatives too act like, and support the Mafia in Canada?

Reality! What real governing skills does it take for anyone merely to spend the taxpayers money? None! But now also making sure it is properly spend and not stolen firstly still requires valid managerial skills.  The civil and public servants remain remarkably unruffled, even as Ottawa and the provinces rack up close to $100-billion in new debt this year also. For the Public and civil servants in Ottawa but also those   in Ontario remember their   raises profoundly but not rather more the poor work they too often do . For most of them, it was the raise they alone also  do  think still they deserve the raise. If you’re a Stephen  Harper fan or Dalton McGuinty government , yes you’ve seen them given more money to public employees at a time of deflation, fear, market panic and widespread carnage in the private sector  Most of Ottawa’s Ontario’s budget winds up in the hands of municipalities, school boards and hospitals and health authorities, which makes it harder to track who’s getting it too and to know now know much of it was rather abused too.. Anyone reading the news lately has heard not just about the too often useless civil and public servants but also about the mafia connections on porkjects that raises the taxpayers costs up to 40 percent now as well even in Quebec. We all already  could be facing much more taxes, severe service cuts as a direct result while  the federal  and provincial governments  do brace  some more for a “long, slow grind” to economic recovery that included already unacceptable government wastes,  high deficits that even will take years to overcome. All, all of this is unacceptable!!

Here is what also rightfully bothers me, it is an undeniable fact now  that too many Politicians in Canada, both Members of the provincial legislatures, and members of parliament, do lie, they make false claims that they the servants of the people, they thus are mainly looking after the needs, concerns of the citizens of Canada  but mainly instead wrongfully do now use tax payer’s money, do use governmental resources and personnel  to distribute  unsolicited material to others to promote firstly their own re-ELECTION and TO PROMOTE  their own political party as we clearly all have seen the New Conservative Ministers wrongfully also now doing OFTEN NOW as well.
Now on top of that some perverse politician would dare write back  to me and ask me not to write my concerns to him any more? Unbelievable and unacceptable. http://postedat.wordpress.com/2009/10/29/we-seem-to-elect-liars-abusers-alcoholics-and-why/

Canadians believe Tories biased on stimulus funding: poll   OTTAWA – A new poll suggests the Harper government’s multimillion-dollar, taxpayer-funded ad blitz to promote its stimulus plan doesn’t seem to be having the desired effect.

The Conservative government’s economic stimulus spending spree that is pouring billions of tax dollars into road construction projects may turn out to be an offer the Mafia couldn’t refuse.  Even as Stephen Harper and his ministers are racing around the country showering public funds on just about every project with a cement mixer, Quebec is engulfed in a growing scandal over Mafia control of infrastructure projects.  In some excellent investigative reporting by the CBC, a credible government insider-turned-whistleblower claims Montreal’s Italian Mafia controls 80% of the contracts for road construction in the city, much of which is certain to involve federal stimulus money.  The CBC report included detailed descriptions of bid-rigging of contracts, a practice that dramatically inflates overall project costs borne by taxpayers.  One published expert on the Italian Mafia cautions that the phenomenon is not limited to Quebec, that the tentacles of organized crime are into major construction projects in other provinces across the country.  The fact that organized crime in Quebec is nothing new will likely be cold comfort to the taxpayers from Victoria to Gander who are now at risk of being fleeced by Luigi the Enforcer.  Even the parliamentary budget officer, Kevin Page, complains that the Harper government is fogging its spending on infrastructure and other economic stimulus programs beyond the point of accounting recognition.  Whatever the figure, it is a huge amount of loot that is being poured into roads, bridges and other government construction mega-projects.  The Conservative government’s latest economic update report, for instance, boasts that since the beginning of this year, more than $7.6 billion in funding has been committed as the federal share of provincial and municipal infrastructure projects worth over $21 billion. So far, the Harper government is refusing to get involved in the growing Quebec construction fiasco, claiming it is a provincial issue.  But those whose money is at risk may beg to differ.  The next time some shameless Conservative cabinet minister shows up at an infrastructure announcement with one of those giant novelty cheques signed by the prime minister, taxpayers might be excused for asking how much of the real cash might be going to the Mob.  http://www.northumberlandtoday.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2148176

OTTAWA – A $50-million federal fund set up to build infrastructure for next June’s G8 summit is being spent partly on projects that are far from the summit site and with tenuous links to the high-powered meeting.    Industry Minister Tony Clement announced the low-profile fund last February, explaining that the fund was being “provided for G8 Summit related infrastructure, including a G8 Centre in Huntsville.”    Huntsville, Ont., will host the meeting. The town of 18,000 is in Clement’s riding, about 215 kilometres north of Toronto, and is best known for being at the heart of prime cottage country for Toronto’s wealthier class.    Huntsville has received the largest share of the money, mainly $16.7 million for a new G8 Centre, $9 million for a summit management office and $2.4 million for improvements to the road by the resort where the meeting is to take place.

But a partial list of the fund’s projects, and a series of news releases, shows that many of the towns in Clement’s riding are receiving money from the fund to build band shells, plant gardens and put up signs and lights.    Research on the spending was carried out independently by The Canadian Press alone, but the Liberal party said it would release its own analysis after being contacted for comment on numbers.    One news release announced $1.1 million to upgrade a street and replace trees in Parry Sound, Ont., some 80 kilometres away from the summit site.   Clement also announced $194,000 for a large “welcome granite stone” and new lighting for a concert stage, also in Parry Sound.    The area just south of Parry Sound is receiving $745,000 for signs, fencing and landscaping in the towns of Rosseau, Humphrey and Orrville.    The towns of Port Severn and South River, many kilometres from the summit, are each getting $65,000 for signs and landscaping, too.    “They’re somewhat disconnected (from the summit), for sure, Parry Sound and Port Severn,” said Huntsville Mayor Claude Doughty.  Bala Falls Road, a small road about 50 kilometres from the summit via another back road, is getting $400,000 for improvements.  “How is this justified? In what way is this going to improve the G8?” said Liberal MP Gerard Kennedy, who said he has completed a separate analysis of the G8 fund, with similar conclusions.

There are rumblings that, despite the $50 million set aside for in summit infrastructure, the region can’t handle such a large meeting, and that Toronto would be far more convenient.  It’s also uncertain whether the leaders and their delegations will stick with their original plan of getting to Huntsville by flying to North Bay, Ont. The city is about 100 kilometres north of Huntsville.   The airport there is receiving $5 million from the G8 Infrastructure Fund. But there are concerns that, with only one runway, it won’t be big enough to handle so many foreign dignitaries, and that Toronto’s airport is better equipped and more secure, sources said.

Clement’s riding is already the subject of scrutiny for receiving funding for dozens and dozens of projects through the federal government’s array of stimulus packages. According to an analysis released by the Prime Minister’s Office, his Parry Sound-Muskoka riding received $3.2 million for 33 projects under the Recreational Infrastructure program.   A list of other infrastructure funds posted on the Transport Canada website points to at least 42 other building projects worth more than $28 million, sprinkled throughout the riding as a form of stimulus. Those numbers were compiled by The Canadian Press.   And even though the area has a fairly low unemployment rate, it has also received millions from the Community Adjustment Fund, set up to help struggling small towns adapt to the global economic crisis.   The G8 Infrastructure Fund is in addition to that money. There is no central spot on the government’s websites to find a list of projects paid for by the fund, nor is there a list of criteria.     http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/091027/national/stimulus_summit

Again, why are taxpayers paying for   Stephen Harper’s campaign sites too?

The Federal Government, the Quebec Government and the Mayor of Montreal have all rejected calls for a public inquiry even though the citizens demand it.. so what are the big 3 sacred of? hiding?

We will all pay later for the Conservatives‘ wasterful spending Harper, with the likes of Tony Clement, Stockwell Day, Jim Flaherty, John Baird, and all of his other cabinet ministers campaigned on the point they would not run a deficit. While at the time each and every one of these unscrupulous politicians knew they were running a deficit of $5.8 billion dollars! Everything from there on has been a neo-right political lie. Two hundred photo ops showing the completely unethical use of the Conservative Party logo is by no means a small indication of what lengths and deceit this crew will go to, to advance their extremely flawed political ideology. The waste of this neo-right fiasco will show up down the road and it will be the biggest financial scandal in Canadian history! How do I know this? Simple. Harper is spending more money and running the largest deficit in Canadian history and he is a politician who cannot be trusted!

About the governmental civil liberties threats during the 2010 Olympics

Anti-Olympic signs could mean jail: rights group..  A proposed B.C. law would allow municipal officials to enter homes to seize unauthorized and possibly anti-Olympic signs on short notice, civil libertarians say.  Violators could be fined up to $10,000 a day and jailed up to six months, the B.C. Civil Liberties Association said Friday. The proposed law was introduced Thursday as a bill to amend the Municipalities Enabling and Validating Act. The government said in a statement that the changes will “provide the municipalities of Vancouver, Richmond and Whistler with temporary enforcement powers to enable them to swiftly remove illegal signs and graffiti during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.” “Telling people who exercise free speech that local authorities may barge in, rip down signs inside your property, fine you or throw you in jail will underscore the growing impression that our governments care more about their own camera appearances at Olympic events than about people’s rights,”  The B.C. Civil Liberties Association  earlier this week, the association helped two anti-Olympics activists launch a legal challenge of Vancouver’s 2010 Olympics bylaw in B.C. Supreme Court, claiming it was an unconstitutional restriction on free speech.  Wow, this is Canada? Welcome to the People’s Republic of Canada. Welcome to Canada: Where our Government doesn’t want us to have free speech either! Does anyone still believe we live in a democracy?  Yet another reason to totally dislike the Olympics. Now it turns any city in infects into a fascist dictatorship. What about democracy and our rights to demonstrate when we do not agree with the government. This law is a total disregard for human rights. What is the government afraid of? Police state is getting closer. I think I finally understand the reason some are anti-Olympics. This is truly disgusting.  http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2009/10/09/bc-anti-olympic-sign-law-bccla.html

There are  some people in this country who rightfully are not looking forward to the Olympic Games, many of whom have announced their intention to protest and demonstrate against them when the time arrives. and there are also those who would stifle the opinions of these demonstrators and protesters.   Civil rights should not be traded away for 2010 Olympics. Canada is founded on the constitutional right to freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association. When anyone violate those principles is at expense of us all..  Now in  Canada  freedom of speech and expression is considered a fundamental right. Section 2 of our charter of rights specifically describes our freedom of speech and assembly in unequivocal terms. But  the B.C. Liberal government’s Bill 13,   includes amendments to the Municipalities Enabling and Validating Act, that do run counter to these basic principles of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly . Now proposed  BC governmental “Amendments will provide the municipalities of Vancouver, Richmond and Whistler with temporary enforcement powers to enable them to swiftly remove illegal signs and graffiti during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The legislation does not change the existing scope of authority to regulate signs and graffiti. Rather, it provides, on a temporary basis, wrongfully a faster way of removing signs and graffiti that violate municipal bylaws during the short period the Games are underway. ” Not only does the amendment effectively call for the banning of dissenting opinion, it would allow municipal officers to enter private property to remove illegal signs with only 24 hours notice This  idea of creating a law which would encourage the removal of politically dissenting signs, even temporarily, is till rightfully  an affront to all of our basic Canadian liberties a there are no provisions for a “temporary” suspension of inherent rights in our Constitution. Many Canadian persons, Political parties, government instead tend to believe  in two kinds of rights: those which further the interests of their political party into more  power, and those which do not. I do   not support any actions in the name of security that would stifle political free expression”..  I  believe  that our fundamental rights and freedoms are inalienable, and beyond the purview of government—any government—to manipulate, trade away, or infringe upon even for any personal, political purposes. I  rightfully also do reject the infringement of private property rights and the curtailment of free speech, free assembly, and basic civil liberties for political expedience.  All opposition politicians not in power often do  state the same thing. But often next when they get into power, they mysteriously tend to change their minds, fail to keep their promises.. the Conservatives included as we know..

Olympic security follows protester’s friend,  A Langara College student says she was shocked to be approached outside class by Olympic security officers and questioned about her friendship with a high-profile opponent of the 2010 Winter Games. Danika Surm says she has nothing to do with the Olympic resistance movement, and her only connection is a friendship with protester and UBC professor Chris Shaw. Surm said she was on her way to class at the south Vancouver campus last week when she was approached by two plainclothes police officers with the Integrated Security Unit, the force in charge of Olympic security.  Opponents of the Games have been complaining for months that they and their families, friends and employers are being harassed and intimidated by the security unit. We complained about human rights and lack of democracy in China, and seem to trying to perpetuate that condition here in our own country. It is not a crime to oppose the Olympics, and it is not a crime to protest them either. Freedom of speech is a right in this country. Now we have “Olympic security officers” harassing citizens. What is this, the Soviet Union ? People died for opposing the Nazis and other regimes, helping put in place the laws of free speech which are now being trampled! Do not go down this slippery slope! Do not let our rights erode away!  http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2009/10/06/bc-olympic-security-protester-surveillance.html

It is an undeniable historical  fact of life that if you try to tell the bad people what they do not want to hear, or what they do not want others to know they next often will try to suppress your right of free speech, by any means, by your false oppression now as well, and that yes includes crooked persons, bad cops, bad politicians, bad elders, bad pastors.. even in a democracy.
