MONTREAL – A hospital emergency room might not be the best place for the sick and elderly. The risk of acute infection – mostly respiratory and gastrointestinal viruses – following a trip to the emergency room is three times higher among the elderly, according to a study published Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. Long-term care patients who spent a few hours in an emergency facility were more likely to get sick in two to seven days after returning to their nursing homes.

Not only did I witttness this often at Maison Heron, in Dorval Quebec, but the adminstrator tried to hide these truths for the public..

Not only is there rarely any justice when it comes to holding the much too many bad cops to accountiablity but if there is any it takes years to do so.. and then not much good tends to happen

Vancouver police are caught in an embarrassing situation in which they’re accused of beating up a man who they thought was a bank robber. Not only was he not the right guy — it turned out no bank had been robbed. Manjit Singh says he had just taken his garbage out the curb of his home near Joyce Street and Kingsway when a police approached him. “He pushed me on the fence,” said Singh, 51. “He said, ‘RCMP, RCMP.’” Other officers then swarmed him and started beating him up, Singh said. “One guy put the knee on my neck, one guy put the knee on my legs,” “They start kicking me … powerful kicks. Left, right, left, right.”

The case appears to be similar to an incident in 2010 when South Vancouver resident Yao Wei Wu was pulled out of his home and roughed up by two plainclothes officers who mistook him for another man who had allegedly assaulted his wife.

OTTAWA — Rogers Communications Inc., is breaking Canada’s Internet traffic management rules by deliberately slowing down certain online traffic, the country’s telecommunications regulator said Friday. You can tell this by their continual price increases, often not justified..

The Alberta and federal governments have said the Oil sand pipeline is crucial to building new markets for the country’s resources. But environmental, aboriginal and social action groups say the risks of a pipeline rupture or oil tanker spill are too great. Money the root of all evil is evident here too..

Can it get worse.. yes! What about the hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) attempts to free trapped natural gas deposits. It’s fiercely opposed by environmentalists , and they also now rightfuly do even oppose the development of Canada’s oilsands, because of real, legimate concerns, causes other major environmental damage, also pollutes the undergound waters and also the rivers next too, concerns include environmental effects on air and water quality, and the risk of oil spills. Concerns even that fracking increases methane concentrations in underground water tables.. concerns that the oil transporters would never aaccount for every “little oops”, or big oil spills in the BC wilderness and elsewhere.

Now the cost of the oil sands production and transportation is overall horrendous and filled with risks of serious environmental damages… existing oil piplines alread leak too often.. Canada’s oil sands now also do require more energy to extract and refine crude, and that means a greater release of greenhouse gases than from refining conventional oil. The oil industry is a multi-billion transnational industry backed by a C anadian Tory government that will peddle the tarsands to any foreign buyer who will bite.

“Plus, there is no guarantee that jobs created from pipelines will be safe, well-paying, and permanent. In the tarsands, multinational corporations prefer cheap, exploitable, and disposable labour, especially migrant workers. Last year, the Petroleum Human Resources Council sought an additional 100,000 migrant workers to work on tarsands infrastructure. Much like the tragic legacy of Chinese railway workers, the deaths of two Chinese migrant workers in 2007 is a sober reminder of the dangers of this industry to the land and workers alike.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Natural Resource Minister Joe Oliver have also now been taken to task recently for their false distortions, diversions, their desperate theories aboutall those radical foreign environmentalists and the socialists, billionaires hijacking the Enbridge Oil Pipleine Joint Review Panel hearings.

The $5.5-billion proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline would cross 1,000 rivers and streams, including the Fraser and Skeena headwaters. Supertankers, with capacity of up to two million barrels of oil, would criss-cross along coastal waters. The 1,172-kilometre pipeline would also impact the Great Bear Rainforest, one of the last intact temperate coastal rain forests on our planet and the only home to the rare spirit bear. Enbridge has reported a total of 610 spills between 1999 and 2008 from its various projects. Anyone who is a adult should know easily by now that the world has much too many crooks, and that even a university degrees does not turn all of the persons into honest persons.. some of them are still crooks. Any doubts? just think when was the last time you heard the last time about an honest lawyer? I personaly had met some bad university medical doctors, Researchers who boasted they were good at getting research grants, but they admitted they also were abusing them.. crooks like to boast too.

One of the pet peeves I have is how many people unwisely give their money to bad churches, bad organizations, the bad Salvation Army and even to bad, wasted medical research..

Helping to find a cure for cancer or hearth attacks is still too often wasteful, just more money abuse when the major reasons for the related deaths is caused by one’s personal lifestyle, even their eating habits. and not aging even. so what does research do to help in this are.. not much good still.

Living high on the hog while paid by the taxpayers

Ottawa. The federal staff under the Conservative government are living high on the hog, having a good time on the taxpayers money, even flying around the world to learn about administration. This is no surprise since so many Conservative Ministers, senators, even the RCMP apparently do the same thing often. Meanwhile Quebecers also this year will pay more taxes to the governments. The RCMP also is known to be costly, cost ineffective already.

NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice said s that the federal government’s $2.2 million per year Advanced Leadership Program, which funds international trips for bureaucrats, is “too expensive,” especially at a time when taxpayers are being called to make financial “sacrifices.”

In 2009, the program had several participants visiting 35 different countries around the world including India, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S. and the Northwest Territories, “Senior bureaucrats are flying around the world on lavish multi-destination trips on the taxpayer dime, all under the guise of ‘leadership training,’ and seeing how bureaucrats handle their jobs in other countries,” This is not new for too many Civil servants in too any municipal and provincial governments did, do the same thing, even in Calgary Alberta.

Much too many liars, theives, bad managers.. no wonder they cannot even manage properly our heath care systems now too..

RCMP Officers perjury trial timeline frustrates justice and mother

The mother of Robert Dziekanski says delays in prosecuting the RCMP police officers involved in her son’s death are prolonging her suffering. The Polish man trying to visit his Mom died after four Mounties used a Taser stun gun to subdue him at Vancouver International Airport in October 2007. Last year, a public inquiry found much of the RCMP officers’ testimony wasn’t credible, but it will be up to two more years before the four stand trial for perjury. RCMP Constables Bill Bentley, Kwesi Millington and Gerry Rundel, and Cpl. Benjamin (Monty) Robinson are facing the charges regarding their testimony during the inquiry. Thomas Braidwood, the retired judge who headed the inquiry, described some of the Mounties’ testimony as shameful and said they had made “deliberate misrepresentations for the purpose of justifying their action.” That was 2010. It took another year for a special prosecutor to lay perjury charges. Only last week were trial dates confirmed for all four RCMP officers. Mother says 2-year wait ‘is too long’ Each will be tried separately, the first next October, the last a year later, in 2013. Two years is too long to wait. I have to do something again,” Dziekanski’s mother, Zofia Cisowski, told CBC News. Cisowski also said she has had no peace since her son’s fatal confrontation with the RCMP. David Eby, executive director of the B.C. RCMP officer docked pay after assault on prisoners National Post OTTAWA – A Mountie whose blog was shut down by the national police force earlier this year for calling aspiring models “second-class, working whores” and “skanks” has been docked 10 days pay after admitting to assaulting two inmates in a cell block. It’s not the first time Kropielniski lost his cool on an accused in the cellblock.…

The punishement was absurd.. he should be fired from his job as well as all of his poor superiors.. a repeat offender

A former RCMP officer who claims to have faced racism and bullying in the police force says she was not the only aboriginal Mountie to have experienced discrimination.Marge Hudson, who was Manitoba’s first female aboriginal RCMP officer when she joined the force in 1979, says she quit in 2009 as a result of years of harassment, bullying and racism in the workplace.But Hudson says she was not alone, as almost every aboriginal RCMP officer she knows has experienced some kind of racial discrimination and harassment on the job.
