 President Barack Obama told officials at all levels of government the he would hold them accountable for how they spend federal stimulus money, pledging to “call them out” if the funding is wasted on projects that do not generate jobs for the struggling economy.   He a  warned the nation’s mayors   that he would use the “full power” of the presidency to expose and crack down on them if they misuse the stimulus dollars meant to boost the sagging economy.  If a federal agency or a local government,  Municipality proposes a project that will waste that money, he  will not hesitate to call them out on it  and use the full power of his office and his administration to stop it. “And I want everybody here to be on notice “.  He also said a White House team will track how the funding is spent. A report by his budget director laid out specific guidelines that states and cities must adopt for reporting activities financed with the money. “What I will need from all of you is unprecedented responsibility and accountability on all of our parts,” Obama said. “The American people are watching.”

 

Many persons they also urged the US president to make sure the money does not get caught up in the kind of bureaucratic delays that often slow the flow of funding from the federal government to cities. “It took 2 1/2 years before any money really hit the city of New Orleans after Katrina,”

 

Obama’s warning confirms his role too as a guardian of the public purse, which could help inoculate him when inevitable controversies erupt over how the money is being spent by some municipalities.  Too  many persons rightfully also do  worries that too much money will be abused, stolen but spent recklessly on end projects that have no long-term job, economic  benefits. It is the  constituents themselves who are paying for it all now still with their tax money. 

 

For the rush to spend is also certain to increase the potential for waste, fraud and inefficiency. “The potentially broader long-term problem is that any evidence of waste, fraud or inefficiency has the potential to undermine the public’s confidence in the Obama administration and, more broadly, confidence in government.” Obama is vowing to beef up accountability measures, including spending $350 million to hire auditors and investigators at each federal agency to police abuses. The White House’s effort at full transparency – the new www.recovery.gov Web site – is now up.The U.S. Conference of Mayors last month drew a severe backlash when it released a wish list of stimulus projects that critics called frivolous, including $2 million worth of neon signs in Las Vegas, a 36-hole disc golf course in Austin, Texas, and a $500,000 dog park in Chula Vista (San Diego County). Lawmakers responded by adding language banning the use of stimulus money for swimming pools, golf courses, zoos, aquariums or casinos.

 

This is a very sad commentary that such abuses do often still occur in both the US and Canada now too.  There is always the obligations to spend the taxpayer’s money  money wisely, free from politics and free from personal agendas. That now still applies to   anybody that   takes part in any amount of this funding.  On this there is no compromise or  shortcuts. Full, real, active  Vigilance by all persons here is still always required in reality. There are still too few cost, money controls — and too many opportunities for fraud and abuse — associated with the biggest outlay of federal money in our own government’s history.

I admit it for years I  have been really rightfully upset at the RCMP because they have not being doing a good job in catching and prosecuting the much too many tax payer’s money abusers that we have, had in the federal ,provincial, municipal governments.. Likely they did not catch the bad guys cause they often do the same bad things it seems?

  “To say I am prolific write is a gross gross understatement.. Now I have posted thousands of posts on the net on about 100 different subjects.. and for a mailing list of 1000 FEDERAL, PROVINCIAL POLITICIANS NEXT  23 would be the highest number of responses, acknowledgements’  I would get within  2 or 3 days .. AND which is reasonable statistics. And now as far as any specific negative complaints about my EMAILS, NET posts IN THE LAST MANY DECADES TOO , 2 per year would be the max.. generally from some rising big shot politician at the federal or provincial level, Moore, Kenney, ETC.. But when I do make  clearly negative post about the RCMP like I did this morning.. I had expected negative feedbacks on this cartoons and within 8  hours I was not disappointed , someone had  complained about my site content to the others.. and the only other time I had a site content complaint in decades also was when I had another negative post about the RCMP too elsewhere.. 

 So what is it?   The HIGHER POLITICAL POWERS, JUSTICE MINISTERS, POLICE COMMISSIONS AND THE RCMP think they are now abusive Gods who can FALSELY TRY TO INTIMIDATE ORDINARY ME? IT IS VERY VERY ILL ADVISED.. THEY HAVE EVERYTHING TO LOOSE , NOT JUST BUDGET CUTS BUT  THEIR PENSIONS INCLUDED  NOW.. DUE TO MY REAL PUBLIC EXPOSURES.. THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD, AND they all also still next need to remember that A GOOD NAME IS WORTH MORE THAN ANY SILVER OR GOLD TOO, and their bad one is not worth anything next to all too”..
